                    • @greenie: My claim just got declined because 'The proof of purchase supplied does not clearly show: Purchase location, Purchase date, Item purchased, Amount paid.' Ah well.

                      • @greenie: You can talk them bough online a plan with the phone?

                        • @cmdnxtt: Haha I can't be bothered anymore. It's all good :)

    • Not really, I think it is on par with the free sonos / $200 gift card deal.
I pre-ordered P30, so I got a free sonos speaker, total cost was $1099 minus roughly $200 for sonos = ~900 for the phone.
As for this deal, $65x12+199 = $979 all up for 12 months including 60g plan.
I am sure if you are on pre-paid or month to month, it is highly likely you will pay more than $80 for plan cost alone.

      • Na that plan cost $35-40 on optus.

  • Is ETC without fee still working with Telstra?

    • No idea. Try it. :)

    • Don't think it'll work with this as there is a free handset attached.
Give it a try and let us know.

I have done it twice already with the same number. Wouldn't mind trying for a third

      • Pretty sure these new plans are straight up sim plans with a mobile offer as an extra.
But as this is still a 12 month plan, there will still be an ETC attached.

        • +1

Ahh but can always convert to month by month plans and get the etc waived

  • +1

If I buy this, can I claim Huawei watch under promotion. It doesn't mention JB Hifi but this phone is under Telstra contract.

    https://www.huaweipromotions.com.au/

    • Bottom of the webpage you linked states exclusive to these stores. Telstra, Vodafone and Optus. But I hope for you it is included

    • +2

No. I've been in contact with Huawei and they've rejected the idea.

      • Thanks

        • How would they know, the contract I had with JB last year had Telstra all over it
          Not sure if they changed

          • @777: this plan comes up as JB HIFI plan $65 on all paper work

          • +1

@777: If it’s anything like the previous deal they want a picture of the receipt when making the claim. I took part in the previous promo for the $200 eGift Card. The receipt I got for the phone was a JB receipt, not telstra.

The PLAN is provided by Telstra, the PHONE is provided by JB HiFi. At no point do the two intercept in paperwork provided to you. :)

  • Wait for mate 30 deals

    • Take this deal, after you got the phone, go to another JB store to exchange the phone you want. I did twice without any problem.

      • What phone did you exchange for?

        • iphone xs and iphone xs max.

          • @jimojr: How much credit do you get for the P30?

            • @theguyrules: My one was Oppo Reno from this deal, I paid extre $430 for the iphone xs 64G, $850 for the iphone xs max 256G.

              • @jimojr: Interesting, thanks.

              • @jimojr: can I ask did you just go back to the same store to do this ?

                • @Roadie999: I tried it in the same store but they didnt allow me. But I went to another store and there was no problems.

                  • @jimojr: Awesome thanks I’ll give it a shot!

                    • @Roadie999: Has anyone tried lately?

                      • @googoogaga: haven't tried yet..was easily able to shift onto M2M with Telstra though!

                        • @Roadie999: When you log into your telstra account, has it actually changed over to a M2M contract already?

                          • @puzzles2: Yep sure does and bill showing 0 on a casual month to month !

                            • @Roadie999: Any chance they'll send the $390 termination bill later?

                              • @Ughhh: Asked twice if I will get the termination costs but was told no. Saved the transcript as well

                                Hopefully not then

                                • @Roadie999: Is your plan to cancel? If so when were you planning on doing so

                      • @googoogaga: Tried at different store. They said because you ported thats part of the deal and couldn't refund or exchange. Will try another store tomorrow. Just wanted to get a pixel instead.

                        • @andyfc: I'll give it a shot on Thursday when I have time. Has anyone else here managed to swap/exchange a p30 for something else?

      • Even if you go to different store, how do they not know that you got your phone from Telstra deal? I mean all JB stores was running the same deals.

      • Which store did you go to?

  • I've been waiting for the Mate 20 pro on this deal but it never came.

  • Is this P30 dual Sim? Tia

    • Yep.

  • If I took the last deal with the P30 @ $299, can I claim the $100 difference back from JB?

    • +1

You can only ask, but expect to be told that it's not possible.

    • +1

No harm in asking. But if you are one of the person who exploit Telstra JB loophole in the previous deal, I wouldn't even dare to ask.

      • I think the phone is separate from the plan which is outright, should be able to just ask about the phone cost diff right?

        • I'm happy to be wrong, but JB must have purchase history that could tell your phone was from Telstra plan and you no longer in JB plan. You could still ask as there's no harm in it. The worst that could happen if they found out, they probably just refused to give you the price difference cause they can't force you to pay $390 ETC.

For me I wouldn't dare to ask, because we already cheat their system and asking for more is just too much.

  • So if I'm on a 12 month byo $45 jb plan, I'm pretty sure I read previously I can 1),upgrade to the $60 plan that doesn't have a lock in contract
    2) port out and then
3)hopefully port back in a day later with this?

    • Only if you signed up after 25 June 2019.

    • From my last dealing with JB staff, it's up to the staff member you deal with whether they will honour the port-in offer or not.
I was told that they've specifically been told port in bonus only applies if you've been off the Telstra network for 30 days.

      • Which they can’t validate. They ask. You say yes. The deal goes ahead.

        • What if you joined with JB HiFi 12 months ago but your plan is about to finish? Will they know?

          • @Serpeant: What? We're talking about people who've ported out their service from Telstra, as that is the audience of the offer.

No JB HiFi person, that I've seen, takes measures to validate how long you've been ported out for.

            • @wellzi: Sorry, mate.

I joined up with Telstra via JB HiFi just under 12 months ago and my plan is about to expire.

I would port out soon and jump on this deal. However, if JB HiFi had good records, they would know that I havent ported out for more than 30 days since my last plan was through them just under 12 months ago.

              • @Serpeant: Oh, right, nah!

Most JB folk ring a dedicated call center for signing up new contracts and port ins. Those with P number access into Telstra's Siebel (sales and customer management) system directly from the store are scarce.

From what I've seen the process does not take into account any/much due diligence. That is, if they say you have to be ported out for 30 days, the definitely don't check. I've not been asked over the phone when chatting to the dedicated call center, and I've not seen any staff members with P access do any checks and balances either.

The most they've done (and it hasn't been every time) is ask how long I've been ported out for. Of course the answer is going to be "a couple of months) because, damn it, I want the deal! That was it. That was their check. Nothing more. :)

Jump onto your 24x7 and see what your ETC is. I'm guessing it'll only be a couple dollars. You can port out and port back in the same day.

        • The two stores I've visited, the guys did whatever they needed on their computer and all the details show up plainly on their screens from what I could briefly see.
Dates of disconnections and port outs were on there.

          • @SuiCid3: Interesting!
When I did my previous deal I was ported out for all of 10 days.
I think this was with someone who had to ring the call center though.

  • +3

Just a heads-up to those who is interested in this deal.

I have signed up exactly the same deal in June, transferred to $59 12 month plan($69 plan with $10 credits discount) on the first month.

And did another transfer yesterday to a $60 month to month Sim only plan with 60GB data pm

That probably means I could just cancel my plan next month

Total cost for me was: 199+60*3=379 with a P30.

    • Smart man

    • +1

So you can transfer from a 12 month plan to a month to month plan without finishing the 12 months or without penalty?

      • +1

Just got the confirmation email from Telstra, I did it through the website, no drama at all.

        • Nice!

        • I did it through the website, no drama at all.

does that mean you put a request through their website instead of going through online chat??

          • @OzSikh: I just went in the app and click change my plan, and it redirects me to the website, which has the month to month Sim plan listed.

Or you can just go to the plan page and click add to cart, it will ask you whether you want to add a new service or change your current one.

I was surprised as well, to see it go through with no warnings etc.

    • Oh nice one.

Better idea is to sign up to this one, change to month by month (if possible) and port out before the month is over.
Telstra charge pro-rata so there is no need to pay for a full month.

      • +1

I'm sorry i'm totally useless when it comes to phone plan terminologies. Could you explain what you wrote about?

      • Is this plan port in only? No new numbers? I'm currently stuck in a 24 month contract with optus but I just want the P30.

        • Just buy a $2 sim from another carrier? There's your service to port over…

          • @picket23: Yea figured that's what I might have to do. Get another number, port it over, transfer the plan to month to month and then cancel. Hopefully it works

    • You are a genius. I'm doing this tomorrow!

    • How do you guarantee that you can transfer to a month to month plan?

      Seems risky..

      • +1

Because telstra advertise it. If you signed up for a byo plan after 25 June then you are eligible to swap too their new month by month plans.
You just need to confirm that on the jb hifi paperwork it says it's the $65 JB hi-fi byo 12 month plan.

        • Really?!? Have you got a link been looking.

        • Really? So you could literally get a p30 outright for $260, am I reading this right?? What's the catch?

Edit: have just looked into background. This one could be sketchy to try and change to month to month. Etc may not be able to be waived in that case.

    • +1

"That probably means I could just cancel my plan next month" … you could cancel it now if you wanted! :)

I also took part in this offer and am still on the $59 plan (less $10 port in discount, so $49).
Plan is great and I wanted to stay with Telstra anyway. Not worth switching to the M2M at this stage.

  • You'll be able to get a $10 port in discount via Telstra chat bringing this down to $55pm.Great phone and great deal.

    • This is dependent on which you get on the online chat.
I got the discount after my first port in, but didn't get it on the second

  • This might be a dumb question but if your a Telstra prepaid costumer how do you go about becoming a port in costumer to take advantage of the deals on offer?

    • Port out to another carrier then port back in

  • any chance they will let you upgrade to pro version?

    • Not a chance. All phones included in this deal in the past are always the unpopular ones so they want to boost the sales using JB Telstra plan.

  • +1

The first time they did this deal, I got 3 handsets for $82 each. So there is still some wiggle room on that $199 if you getting more than 1. All I asked was, can you do a better price if I sign up 3 plans.

    • That's awesome.
      Did you port out too?

      • Yes ported all numbers across. Turns out they were running a comp between some of the stores on number of signups.

        • You managed to port out and get P30s for effectively ~$82? No cancellation fee when you ported out of m2m?

          • @puzzles2: All my sims were off contract with other networks

  • I wonder if they are doing the gift card offer…..

  • Great deal actually!

  • -1

is telstra offering to pay out contracts from other telcos?

  • anyone know if you can port in from boost/belong?
i have read previous comments on whirlpool, where boost/belong port-ins were not eligible for similar offers (specifically gift cards).

also, anyone tried getting the ETC waived recently?

    • I just tried getting the deal with Belong ( Totally forgot they were owned by Telstra ) and JB staff said they cannot do it.

So yep No Go on Belong.

      • thanks for the info!
yeah i thought it might be the case.
if you still want the deal, $2 prepaid sim it is!

  • I am torn between the P30 and Samsung S10. Been hanging out for an S10 deal but havent seen anything decent.

I am worried google may stop releasing android updates for the P30 due to the huawei situation. If that happens, I assume my phone will just be out of date but I will still be able to use it on the Australian network?

  • what's the difference between p30 and p30 pro?

  • +1

I just tried it, the staff member informed me there will be ETC on this plan as Telstra had informed them of it this morning.

The plan is not the same as the previous with $500 gift card. That plan was JB Hi-Fi $65 Mobile BYO plan of similar, this one showed up as JB Hi-Fi $65 Mobile BYO - Huawei $800 phone credit.

Not sure if it will affect converting to month to month or not due to the phone credit part.

    • interesting. so did you still go ahead and take up the plan anyway? with the intention of getting the ETC waived i mean

      • Nah, I backed out when I noticed the change in wording, I think Telstra will know there's $800 credit that needs to be paid off..

    • If you signed up I am curious to see the CIS, as just the normal ones are listed on the JB website
