monday-itis has taken my brain hostage yet again :/ cheers

      • Does it work with the live.com.au domain as well?

  • Does anyone know if they have SIM cards for the iphone on this plan?

    • its for one month on their unlimmited plan which means its compatible with the iphone (you can tether too!)

  • +4

$10 for only the first month or what?

    • Well, either you grab a new number and use this for exactly 1 month and then cancel before the next month, or you use it as a cheap way of getting onto Amaysim (and pay the full $39.90 p/m) after the first month is over

      • +2

OK $9 for a month 4GB data not bad if u don't want to move your existing number.

  • Seems like a great deal!

  • -1

After the first month do you go back to paying the $39 a month or does it stay at $10?

  • +2

Just bought a pack. It says the voucher will be sent to me email. I'm assuming this is a 1 month of unlimited to try and bait you into paying it every month after

    • -1

The OP said "No lock-in contracts" so if you're right, the advertising is misleading as Optus always do.

      • +2

The unlimited deal is normally $39/mth. So if you want to stay, keep paying. If you don't, roll out to whatever you want to go to next. There is no contract to continue for any length of time.

    • +3

      its called marketing talbot :P

  • Can you order multiple ones? It might be handy for emergency mobile broadband.
If there's no time limit to activate, it'd be cheap month to month mobile BB, since you don't care about the mob#

    • "SIM card must be activated within six months of purchase"

      • isnt there also some provision that only lets one account holder have 4 prepaid accounts under 1 name?
or is it only concurrently 4 prepaid accounts?

        • There are no limits to how many prepaid accounts you can have, however if you have 4 or more they say they need to get more ID info off you.

As for THIS deal, i'd say quarrymaster is correct.

    • You can only order one per member. I believe you have to activate it within six months of the deal, so you'd be able to stretch six connections over six months or so, maybe seven if you timed it right.

      • I Can't see where it says 1 per member although when I went to purchase it did say I can only buy 1 yet when you go back into again from the same account, you are able to purchase another one…? lol >_<

        • Might try that then!

        • Looks like you can also order one as a 'gift' to a friend.

  • Does it come in microsim as well or standard dim?

    • +2

Their sim can be broken into 1 of 2 sizes, normal and micro :)

  • I have an amasyim account I use for data only for a tablet. The $10/4gb deal is pretty good. There is another option on anaysim that you could swap to after the month is up, that gives you the normal price of 1gb data for $10. That is what I use. If you are after a data only plan, this would be a cheap way to get 4gb for the first month, then 1gb after that for $10/month. Probably the best long term contractless data plan I can think of at the moment. And when a better deal comes out, you can change. The Amaysim account can be put on hold for a month or so from memory, which I have done when another short term better deal came out.
They charge in 1mb sessions but to be honest that has never really caused a great deal of increase in data useage on my tab, over about 6 month now, the amaysim data counter on their webpage has always been lower than the estimation on my android found which counts actual data.

    • I use an amaysim account on my iphone in similar manner - just PAYG internet and phone.

One really nice thing about Amaysim is that you can deal with them over email and (at least five months ago) get a response within an hour.

    • I have an Amaysim in my portable wifi (for my ipad). Dont know how they calculate, but it always seems to be a lot less than I think I have used.
I have loaded it with $15 for 3 months access. Works out to be about 300Mb. Current usage doesnt seem to be getting me close. So $5 a month for backup wifi - I'm not complaining.

    • Skyva, can you use Amaysim's $10 for 1Gb by itself, or is it only available as an add-on to a 'phone' plan?

From what I read on their site, it seems that you have to buy call credit first.

I'm looking for something cheap'n'cheerful to furnish 3G data for the phone I use for exercise with GPS and Endomondo: it only needs a few meg/day of 3G to upload results on the fly, and never gets used to make calls.

      • TPG Pay as you go plan sounds like it would suit you. Once off cost of $40, half is this is refundable. then it's $1 per month, and 2.75cents per meg.
Like Amaysim, it's on the Optus network.

      • i think it might be an add on to the phone plan. Saying that, I don't think I use any phone credits and I don't think there is a minimum monthly spend on phone calls, so $10 gives you the data if you don't use the phone. I have a few dollars in the account for phone calls but never use them. It may be that the phone dollars expire after 90 days. I have $5 in there for calls, will wait to see what happens with top up for calls and sms. I know I can top up for $15 on phone calls but I might be able to do it for less than that.

  • I use the Amaysim prepaid sim on my iPhone 3G. While they tout free social networking usage, in practice, the iPhone causes non-social networking usage when you think all you are doing is social networking. It's not misleading on Amaysim's part, but rather as I understand it, a feature of the iPhone location services.

  • has any one tried to get multiples. If i buy 6 that's like $10/month for 4 gbs of data/month

    • im thinking doing the same! :p

  • Is their service better than Vodafone?

        2 tins 1 string

Hmm anyone else think this was some kind of movie? ;)

        • Absolutely not!!!! ;)

  • +14

    anyone is better than vodafone.

  • am i getting wrong?
this is not a prepaid sim, but a postpaid one without contract.

    • Why would it be postpaid? You pay $10 for 30 days access after activation, nothing more to pay.

      • No, you may prepay $10, but it seems to be a contract. You can be billed for extras.
like 13- numbers. Or $50/GB excess.

        • +1

But according to this paragraph, in principle you could put no additional credit into the account and then those excluded numbers would be barred or your data access would cease after hitting the limit, no?

“How do I pay for the exclusions not included in amaysim UNLIMITED?

There are three ways to pay for the amaysim UNLIMITED exclusions: credit card, BPAY and vouchers. If you're Pre-paid, ensure you always have additional credit in your account to cover the additional costs. If you're Post-paid, the costs will be added to your account as you go. We recommend credit card as your preferred payment method for amaysim UNLIMITED, it just keeps things simple and easy. If you don't have a credit card you can use vouchers or make BPAY payments. You can look up your BPAY details in your my amaysim account under "Account Payment Method".''

        • Hmm … doesn't that mean, if it's postpaid, and you have no credit, you will still be billed for extras. If you don't pay, then they may send a debt collector after you and/or downgrade your credit rating?

    • you can choose pre-paid or post-paid.

  • -5

Offer valid for six months from 8th September 2011
amaysim UNLIMITED is valid for 30 days

    • yes…. the offer from cudo to take up 30 days unlimited mobile usage with amaysim is valid for 6 months…..

      which bit don't you understand?

      • -3

I was just showing the fine print…. the offer reverts back to $39.00 per month after 6months…

        • +1

the offer is not from amaysim…. they charge $39 per month - you cannot get this offer direct from amaysim

The offer is from Cudo, and is for one month of unlimited amaysim mobile usage, to be used sometime within the next 6 months.

Once you have used that month of unlimited amaysim mobile usage, if you want to continue the service, it will cost you $39 per month.

  • Is that means i can have unlimited calls to Vodafone, Optus, Telstra and no further payment is needed???

  • Anyone know if the voucher is a topup voucher from amaysim, or a voucher from Cudo to claim?

Difference is that after 30 days, if it's a topup voucher from amaysim, you could in theory buy a few and topup every 30 days within those 6 month validity, since billing is done either via BPAY, credit card or a top up voucher.

    • the fine print: Only available for new connections
So I guess it's like those $29 sim pack, you get $29 credit when activating the SIM card?
However if they allow customers to port the old number from them to a new SIM card (account) then you can just port the number every month? or for people who don't really use the phone number (only for data) then they can just open new accounts every month.

      • Yeh good point. Would be too much hassle porting out (say onto a $2 vodafone sim) before transferring back onto amaysim at the end of each month, when the 30 day expires, assuming that you want to keep the number.

  • so is it 6 months to redeem the voucher and then 6 months to activate the SIM?

    • nope…

amaysim will then deliver your SIM card within seven days and you’ll have up to six months to activate it, after which you’ll have 30 days to talk until your mouth drops off!

      • Does Amaysim include 1300 and 1800 in their unlimited bundle?

        • Additional services not included with amaysim UNLIMITED and cost a little extra include dialling numbers starting with 13,15 and 18; premium SMS; and international calls and SMS; and video calling

        • Do any carriers?
I thought they were always extra

        • They are included in the latest Virgin "topless" plan and in Optus.

        • Does Amaysim include 1300 and 1800 in their unlimited bundle?

It would be limited otherwise. You don't think they would lie to you, and hide it in the fine print?

  • This i like :) thanks op

  • Limited to 1 unit purchase on CUDO. I tried purchasing multiple, didn't work!

  • Still a pretty damn good deal. Wonder how many they've got in stock? Thanks OP.

  • -1

It does seem hardly a bargin if its only for one month??

    • I was planning on using it to see how much data may be enough with the iPad. There was also a Telstra $30 Starter for $10, but that only included 500MB.

      • You can buy an extra 700MB data pack with the included credit on Telstra.

  • +2

You're kidding me. Find me something close to $9 PrePaid that gets you unlimited talk and text and 4GB data.

    • +2

I guess its the way you look at it… for just one month… not a problem.. but unlike the
liveconnected deals that come up…. at least the liveconnected are ongoing once you've signed up…

I guess Im looking at it from a long term bargin! 8))

  • How does Amaysim compare to TPG or Pennytel sim? Looking for long term hassle-free company to port over.

  • can you redeem your $10 referal credit to buy this? it doesnt seem to work. maybe becuase its under $10 with a HOTMAIL ACCOUNT. ?
btw you can get a free $10 credit through arthog if you are a member.

    • I would guess it should.
If your friend signs up and you receive the $10 voucher why wouldn't it?

Oh hang on… limited to one per account so you'd have to NOT have bought one with the referred account.

    • "btw you can get a free $10 credit through arthog if you are a member"

Whats arthog?? I can only see weird links to some crap in Wales, UK.
      Any links?

      • http://cudo.com.au/alliance/artog?cmp=all:artog:mass here is the link. new and existing cudo members can also get the $10 credit. its emailed out as a code to enter on the website to you rightaway. however im having trouble redeeming it for this deal. if anyone is successful or knows how to use the $10 artog.com.au credit let me know?

  • Superb thanks for the post…

  • Bought one and hope to cut down on my mobile bills.
    Wife bought one too.

    • only for 1 month

  • Great post bought one. I will use it for data plan on my Optus MyTab.

  • +1

Does anyone know where information is about cancelling? How it is done, if you don't want to go on the $39 a month plan and how long it takes to be effected?

    • +1

This is from the Amaysim website:

How do I pay for the $39.90 each month?
There are three ways to buy and top up amaysim UNLIMITED: credit card, BPAY and vouchers. Ensure you always have $39.90 in your account to cover the 30 day renewal cost. We recommend credit card as your preferred payment method for amaysim UNLIMITED. We can automatically renew you amaysim UNLIMITED every 30 days if you want so paying by credit card just keeps things simple and easy. If you don't have a credit card you can recharge your balance by using vouchers or by making BPAY payments. You can look up your BPAY details in your my amaysim account under "Account Payment Method".

So from my understanding, unless you link it to a credit card, you won't be charged after the first month. AFAIK, it's a prepaid, rather than a postpaid plan.

      • +1

this is great, but im sending email to cudo to confirm!

  • how do u pay by voucher ONLY ??

    Payment method

    Pay by credit card

    Pay by Direct Debit
Your SIM card will be sent as soon as we complete your order.

    Name on credit card
    Card Type
    Card Number?
    Card Expiry
    CCV?

    • -1

presumably it means the receipt you get when you buy a recharge at coles/servos, etc…. same as with any other pre-paid….

To grab an amaysim recharge voucher of $10, $20, $30, $39.90 or $50 simply go to one 20,000+ locations.

      • You could be correct there — so that means we can just pick up a $2 SIM from somewhere and load this voucher.

Still, doesn't explain how those who want the SIM posted can get through this process.

        • +1

          not sure about that……
This is for 'new' sign ups only….. if you bought a sim and activated it…. it wouldn't be a new sign up. I reckon you have to wait for the sim to be posted to you…. presumably the credit will already be applied to that particular sim

  • hi all, i new to this "Cudo".I got my voucher print out from their website now,but i dont know how can i redeem it for sim card.Anybody help? Thanks.

    • -1

It’s easy to redeem this offer too. Simply give that yellow button on the right a good click, enter your shipping details including your full name, address and postcode, and subtract a TINY $10 from the credit card of your choice!

amaysim will then deliver your SIM card within seven days and you’ll have up to six months to activate it, after which you’ll have 30 days to talk until your mouth drops off!

    • I think the problem is Cudo uses a one size fits all voucher. The instructions to redeem the voucher normally refer to a shop location, but in this case the URL there it's irrelevant. Amaysim will mail the SIM and instructions to you. Confusing.

  • +2

hi, I have problem to redeem the voucher too. but finally i found the link.
    http://www.amaysim.com.au/deals/
    try this on.

  • +2

I called up AMAYSIM and they told me the information from the voucher is totally irrelevant. It seems that a SIM has already been sent out to your CUDO address so just wait for it in the mail, then call amaysim to activate. Not sure how true it is but we'll find out in a couple of days.

    • +1

I also phoned Amaysim to confirm. They said:

      • Ignore instructions received in Cudo email
      • Wait for SIM to be delivered
      • SIM will include activation instructions

That is, take no further action until you receive the SIM in the next few days.

  • +1

Got a clarification email from Cudo a little while ago stating that Amaysim will send out a SIM pack with instructions on how to proceed within 7 days. The Cudo voucher code cannot (and need not) be used on the AmaySim website to activate or order anything as yet.

  • guys, anyone receive yours ?i just think maybe we need to put our credit card somewhere when we register, becuase how they gonna bill us if we use more than 4gb data limit ? therefore need to know exatctly how to cancel shortly before 1 month finish. they havent reply my email yet. cudo isnt good !

    • once you hit your 4gb limit they stop your internet. Remember it can be either pre-paid or post paid :)

  • i got the simcard, havent activate yet, but according to instruction we need to go to http://www.amaysim.com.au/cudo and register. when i go there i can see i need to put credit card number for ID check.

well, means we need to be careful not to go over the limits (premium number and data)

    • It can also be 100 points of ID instead, like a passport + driver's license, which is standard for activating a SIM.

  • Tried to activate this deal today… it worked getting the phone number going but it is showing 1c credit to my account and that is it, and when I try to make a call, it doesn't let me because I don't have enough credit.

I have emailed Amaysim about the issue and plan on calling them tomorrow too, but at present I am not too impressed by this.

    • Same here. What's wrong with them???
