    • My understanding is that the ACL in this case only applies to the retailer, so any ACL guarantees beyond the manufacturer's warranty should to be raised with the retailer.

The manufacturer can refer you back to the retailer or they may choose to remedy issues at their discretion.

Apple have usually be pretty good repairing imports. There are clauses in the warranty T&C regarding parts availability for imported models, since it's a GPS only model the risks are lower of having parts not available locally.

  • No doubt they are giving away apple watch for $400. If I am not happy with it. I would return it. Not worth taking the risk.

  • +5

Would apple do a swap/trade on adaptors? Or would be just cop the price of a new one? I feel like the seller should’ve listed it was an overseas model in the title/description…
Or at least given us an AU adaptor

    • +1

Would apple do a swap/trade on adaptors?

      No, they won't.

    • +3

Very deceptive… Ebay promotion for Australia selling grey imports

  • +6

I CAME ON HERE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT A LITTLE DENT IN THE CORNER OF MY APPLE WATCH BOX FROM NO PADDING IN THE BAG AND THEN I READ THE COMMENTS AND FIND IT'S NOW IT'S THE US VERSION . FML

    • +1

For forgot to add, and the grief and agony just "to win" the competition from buying the watch too!

    • +4

my box is also damaged, meant to be a present…

      • +2

He is the same supplier who sent me Braun thermometer with damaged box.
Looks like demo items they are shipping as new

        • +1

My brauhn box also damaged very annoyed

    • +5

thanks for typing it in CAPS, makes it so easy to read. I wish everyone does this, I am going absolutely blind by reading all posts in small letters.

    • I also have a dented box with the plastic seal being ripped. I'm guessing they were trying to get rid of damaged grey-import stock

  • +2

Hmmmm comtemplating whether to return it or not now.. dammit!

  • +8

So they are selling grey import at Australia RRP without any warning in the description. Everyone should complain to ebay.

    • +6

Yes unsure how this should be even included as part of the "eBay Plus" promotion

    • +1

Yes there have been more than one dodgy practice in this eBay promotion
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544123
They REALLY need to spell this stuff out in the listing.
Grey import with incorrect plug and reduced warranty is basic information and could affect your decision to buy

  • +3

With the grey import watch, there is still the 1 year international warranty w/ Apple.
However, I'm concerned Apple may not be able to offer a replacement if needed as this model isn't stocked locally.

    • You're also not covered under the Australian consumer law that may protect you even after the warranty runs out.

An apple genius fixed an issue with my out of warranty Macbook Pro based on that. I was ready to pay, so was lucky I had a good support person.

      • Well, That would depend on the issue you had. What was the issue?

      • You absolutely are covered by ACL if the seller is register in Australia. Whether the business exists in a year's time to handle claims is another story.

        • Thanks for the correction. So Apple wouldn't cover it under the ACL?

I purchased my MBP from JB Hifi, but Apple fixed it out of warranty without charging me (part of the display stopped working).

          • @jtb: Possibly not, but I don't have any experience getting models intended for foreign markets repaired locally.

Apple likes to handle all claims themselves which is non-standard, ACL guarantees are usually handled by the retailers.

    • +1

I'm concerned Apple may not be able to offer a replacement if needed as this model isn't stocked locally.

From my experience(s) with iPhones, you may need to wait while Apple Australia import a replacement one of your exact model.

  • And for these rats I cancelled my Vodafone apple watch plan yesterday , now have to reconnect it.

  • +9

No bubble Wrap for my Apple Watch and none for my Brauhn ThermoScan 7. Looks like crap, especially for a present. Very pissed that they couldn't package it properly. The items have "FRAGILE" yet no protective packaging for the items?

  • +12

Everyone should give the negative feedback to the seller for being so deceptive.

  • Wait, WHAT?!

  • Received the thermometer today. As others have mentioned, the packaging was damaged and the seal seems to have been broken. The thermometer seems to work fine. You will probably not be able to gift it as the packaging is definitely smooshed in. Does have a fragile sticker, but if you just wrap the box, it would not help protect the device.
Definitely agree that the seller could have done a better job packaging it. But overall, the product is as described.

  • Would anyone be able to clarify? So I’m expecting my watch tomorrow. Charger is fine- I’ve got plenty. But Will any features for the GPS version be hindered? And is warranty still 1 year

    • +1

No difference in features. The warranty for all version of the apple watch (except the Edition models) is 1 year. ACL protection is not warranty, the burden of ACL lies with the seller, not the manufacturer. The seller can then claim from the manufacturer any compensation separate to you.

      • Ah so the 1 year warranty you find in Apple stores will be fine?

        • Yes, there are some risks though. If they don't stock some model specific parts etc. With the GPS model the general consensus is that it's fine. The main difference is software since the Australian models doesn't have ECG function enabled in the firmware.

"Apple reserves the right to change the method by which Apple may provide warranty service to you, and your Apple Product’s eligibility to receive a particular method of service. Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Products and parts that comply with local standards."

  • Did anyone tried to register Airpods/Airpods Pro's serial number for Apple Care Plus?
I've tried to register on Apple AU website and it directed me to UK site to pay for the apple care like 29 pounds.

    Are we getting UK/Europe stock?

    • I haven't tried to register mine but the box for the airpods I received say they are for Malaysia.

      • It's a bit confusing, only the label and what's written on it is for Malaysia.

      • Correction: Definitely its AU stock as its all same in APAC region (Malaysia something)

My concern now is that why Apple AU website redirected the page to UK to pay for the care plus.. hmm..

    • Unlikely since the UK/Europe ones have different labelling. They don't have the "For Malaysia" label.

      • yeah, my bad. Its AU stock for sure, I checked my old Airpods (from Apple store) have same label

  • Can we add the Galaxy tab in our cart now, or we have to wait until the 22/06 to add it in the cart ?

    • Seller/eBay Listing is still unknown for the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

      • +1

Oops , sorry I thought its already out.

    • who is the seller for Galaxy Tab?

  • +1

Any details on tomorrows airpods? How many drops and what time? Or only one drop at 10?

    • Yeh these threads have got messy. Impossible to find any details

    • Haha. Does it matter. Just be ready at 10 am with the code saved to your clipboard.

      • +1

Sorry couldn't find the code in previous thread. Can you please share it. Thanks.

    • they say its 300 units so 10,2,6 drops and 100 each
      same code, same seller

  • +2

So I called Apple about the issues with grey imports. They said no operating issues or anything like that here in Aus with the GPS only model. The only issue you may have is warranty remaining. With grey imports they are purchased from Apple at a date prior and then resold at a later stage. The warranty with Apple begins from the sale date so if the watches have been purchased way before or anything like that it can be an issue with warranty remaining or buying Apple care as it has to be purchased within 60 days of the sale date.

Is anyone who has the Watch and has opened it able to check their serial number via this link below. At least then we will know a possible sale date and if Apple care is even able to be added.

    https://checkcoverage.apple.com/au/en/

    • I’ll check when it arrive tomorrow.

    • Ok thanks for the details. I’ll have to check my warranty when it arrives tomorrow and decide if I wanna take the risk… after all what are the chances of an issue

    • +1

"We’re unable to display coverage details because your device hasn’t been registered. Please contact your Apple product retailer or your wireless carrier to register this device."

      • What's that mean? A year warranty from when we register?

        • Yes, exactly. Warranty starts when you activate the device.

          • @akyeeeahdude: That's not too bad then. I also purchased with CC, has extra 1 year warranty.

          • @akyeeeahdude: Apple warranty states:

Your Apple-branded or Beats-branded hardware product (“Product”) is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase.

I hope you’re right about the activation but I’m only going off what a apple rep told me over the phone.

            • +1

@travisty18: I used to buy and sell Apple iPhones and iPads and often came across sealed brand new items. Warranty on the Apple Self Solve tool would always show as started once the device was turned on and activated. Same applied when I bought my daughter an iMac on sale in July last year - I gave it to her for her birthday in October and that's when warranty shows as started on the Apple self solve website tool. The good thing is when you ask for warranty service from apple, they look it up on the self solve tool/their system and don't ask for a receipt.

        • +1

          @travisty18

          spot on.

for Apple products that need activation (eg. imac, iphone, watch, ipad etc), the limited Apple warranty starts when you activate the device. if you look up on apple website generally you get 364 days (which is one day less because Apple system using PDT time maybe).
But for products that need no activation (you dont have to put your icloud details or apple ID) the warranty is based on your input. You can do this by verifying the purchase date on the warranty check page on Apple website.

So here's a trick, for products need no activation, you can use it for a while and put a later purchase date in and the system can't tell so the warranty will starts on whenever the date you put in. but you shouldn't be doing that really.

          • @A9z4444: And then when you go to claim warranty and Apple ask you to provide proof of purchase on that date?

            • @Speedster: like i said before this is just a loophole you shouldn't be doing that in the first place,

and i doubt apple will ask you to provide proof of purchase if you have already verified your purchase date on (checkcoverage.apple.com)

so when you are sending your device in for repair they usually check the serial number on their system to validate the warranty and this should be the same info you get from (checkcoverage.apple.com), correct me if i was wrong.

  • Did anyone who got a apple watch at the 6PM drop last night have theirs posted yet?

    • Yup mine was posted this arvo

  • +1

another dodgy eBay bite to get people on eBay plus hook

  • +3

The Global knife block I received is not sealed as well.

Feel like ebay become a dump bin for opened/returns/box damage 2nd hand goods

    • I don’t think Global boxes are ever sealed. I may be wrong but it’s just the ‘lip’ thing that keeps it shut. Just my 2 cents.

  • +1

ok so its 150 units per drop, 10/12/2/4pm

    • ok so its 150 units per drop, 10/12/2/4pm

What is 600 units at 150 per drop?

      • That means there would be 150 units up for grabs during each of those 4 time slots, giving a total of 600 total units.

  • Are these AirPods going to be au stock or grey import?

    • -7

      Grey import for sure

    • +3

No, NonSense is wrong. They are AU stock. Same ones they sell at retailers eg. JBhifi

    • +2

      MWP22ZA/A

    • +1

      no its AU stock.

  • There’s kitchenaid toaster and air fryer for tomorrow as well. Lol

  • So there's 3 items at 10am? Or are they going to change it like they did with the thermometer?

  • +2

I guess the resell value is low if the watch is US model, no wonder why it is so cheap, plan to return it.

    • i can take it from u.. if u r not happy ..i missed it

  • us/au version who cares? the charger is different, but the watch is exactly the same. thats the main bit

    • Yeah it’s not a big deal keen for my delivery today- if it was the cellular version it would be an issue

  • the code for the airpods the same one that's in the listing or a completely different one?

    • +1

Yes! Hopefully should be the same listing and code.

    • Same seller, same code

  • So what are the other items on sale today? a kitchenaid classic toaster and healthy choice 12L something on as well today? I can see them, but can't find anything about them.

    • Can someone give link for them (on sale on ebay today)? thank you.

      • +2

The Airfryer is likely the one which also got dropped on the 4th.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143111724068

        Code was PMAJA88

        • how much is the airfryer after the discount?

        • Could anyone share their experience with the air fryer?

          • +2

@CKLL001: Ok replying to both of you guys at once.

The air fryer is $99 after discount.

Got one, and have been using it quite a bit since i've gotten it. Working like a charm so far. I've only used two of the three trays its come with, so havent fully loaded it nor experienced the 'top tray gets a lil burnt' which others have mentioned. But the heating elements are at the top so its kind of expected.

The beeps it makes, both when selecting the settings and when its done, is somewhat obnoxious.

Easy to clean, since it comes with a drip tray at the bottom. And the door is removable, which can also be annoying if you accidentally unhinge it opening it normally. The door is quite chunky and even when fully opened, it will block the drip tray from being removed but…if you are trying to remove that, you're cleaning everything anyway.

Whether this can cook a rotisserie chicken like its advertising material..is…questionable.

Still, quite pleased. My first Air fryer too.

            • @Gnilgorf: Thanks for sharing… looks like a good buy!

    • How about kitchen aid classic toaster link?

      • +1

        Don't know. That one's new.

      • +1

        For $19, i'll risk it

  • +1

Got a response from the seller on the Apple watch confirming that it is indeed US stock. However, there will be 1 year international warranty + another year which you would need to claim through the seller itself. I reckon that's not too bad given that the warranty coverage is essentially the same except that you're getting the US version instead of AUS.

    • -1

It's OK but am pretty sure the proper Apple two year warranty would be better. Seller could be all kinds of BS to deal with. No-one knows yet

      • -2

Apple never offered a 2 year warranty on the main line of watches. Only the Edition models got 2 years.

      • Yeah true. My previous Apple Watch Series 1 is still going strong since 2016, so hopefully it's the same case for this !

    • +1

Yeah I’m gonna gamble and keep the watch

  • I still have the Airpods Pro in my cart from the last one. Should I should remove it or just checkout from there?

    • Try check it out from there, its same seller, same code
