        • You're right! so i'm not going crazy.

        • you're right, wow lol

          • @MiscOzB: I checked my cart. The one I added to my cart last night is still showing $629 when I check out. However, if I add another one now, it's showing as $1229. Weird.

            https://imgur.com/a/2gR4AhN

            • @Ebaygiftcards: Yeah I bought one just over an hour ago, I was thinking it'd be risky leaving it much later.

  • +3

Wow, its gone back up to its retail price of $1229. It was still $629 when I checked it at 9:30am this morning.

Edit: WTF. It went back down to $629. LOL

  • Still shows 629 for me?

    • It was $1229 just before. It's gone back to $629 again. Mmmmm, something is wrong with their website.

      • Cue the cancellations maybe? haha

      • it's back to 1229 now

  • +1

Product page is cached. Go through checkout, the price is $1,229.00. See search results https://www.dell.com/en-au/search?q=S2721DGF

  • +2

Seriously $1229 retail for this is WAAAAAY overpriced. If came down to this or the LG 27GL850, I'm sure most of us would go with the latter.

    • I wonder if the price we all bought it at was a pricing error afterall.

    • -2

Most people got it for $507.93. Unless Dell mass cancelled the lot, those people could be reasonably happy.
$507.93 is a good price, but not fantastic to be honest. There is at least one monitor that's cheaper than that with 2K 144Hz.

Besides, this isn't the top notch 2K 144Hz monitor panel. It is still consumer grade.

That said, Dell has revised the price and the new RRP: $1,229 is crazy.

      • Still showing as $625 for me?

        • I clicked the link on this post, price is showing $1,229.00

          • @Schpeltor: My site must be cached or something. Let’s hope Dell honour the purchase..

        • Dell is notorious for having one rrp and then having constant sales so you're a mug to pay rrp.

        • Add to cart and check if price is the same

          • @payton: Yep, showing as $1.2k in cart. Wow.

    • Yep. You would be mad to buy it at that price. Better monitors available for that.
$629 was a good competitive price. Nothing amazing tbh. That being said I do hope they ship it.

      • +6

Nothing amazing? The specs are absolutely amazing for $500 that they were going for. Even at $629 it’s still great if those specs are actually accurate.

          • +2

@netsurfer: Its native 165hz via DP. It's right in the spec sheet.

            • -4

@Rupture: It's overclocked. That's not the only panel doing it. You guys want to have the cake and eat it. If you want it to be the LG panel, clearly it is overclocked. Even if it is the AUO, it is in the same boat.

It's obvious why LG is allowing other companies using their panel to do it: it is because AUO started doing this. We have zero detail whether LG panel is like the AUO in the above 144 range. AUO one is a bit of a mess. Bear in mind that even DisplayNinja site considered 165Hz for this Dell monitor overclocked.

Also, Viewsonic 27 inch 144Hz's record price is around $390 (I was quoting current retail price $469):
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/514195
Only 49+ votes for that deal.

This monitor @ $509 is a good purchase, but "amazing" is a stretch. Dell might have jacked up the price like crazy, but let's not make this monitor worth $1200 all of the sudden.

              • @netsurfer: I haven’t downvoted you by the way. Agree $1,200 is just crazy. Feels like a $800 monitor (including some usual Dell premium) to me.

    • pricing may be taking the currect 30% off monitor sale.. that brings it down to $860 AUD.. in line with the similar LG monitor.

  • Probably like Amazon, prices can be badly jacked when they have low stock. 507 sounds ok, let's see what it's like.

  • Edit: Don't worry it was US prices

  • Sell prices are jacked as they regularly have 30% off sales.

  • My packing slip says Shipping Date - 4/08/2020. Hope it gets shipped out, but Im not holding my breath.

    • Yours should get shipped today. I'd say we'll find out pretty soon if it was a price error…

    • Please let us know if you get in hand. Still spewing didnt cop yesterday :(

  • Do Dell monitors usually come factory calibrated?

    • +2

The ultrasharps do.. Not sure about this model.

  • so sad that I missed out on this

  • wow back at $1,229.00 I hope they honour it!

    • I feel like it's a placeholder number because it is definitely not worth that much for its specs

  • Received an update from Dell, but it was just to say payment is confirmed.

  • +3

Guys my order just went into production. Looks like they're being honoured :)

    • +1

      Nice!

I’m not holding my breath for mine. Still no payment confirmation in my case.

PayPal says “order placed”. I always have the 32” from the other deal to fall back on. Lol

      • PayPal also says pending for me aswell but when I checked my order on Dell it says in production. I think they charge once it moves into the next step before shipment.

You can check your order status here: https://www.dell.com/support/orders/au/en/aubsd1

        • Nah, that step doesn't mean anything. Your credit card may not even be fully charged yet (only in pre-auth state). Considered this deal essentially got OZB'ed, it is a big volume for Dell to deal with at a time like this. Until Dell shipped your order, anything can still happen.

Don't get me wrong. I hope you get yours.

    • +1

Mine also says confirmed - in production. Est delivery 11th.

    • Yep mine in production too and they debited my CC almost immediately

  • +3

Also "Status: Confirmed - In Production", with a "Shipping Date - 4/08/2020" and "Arrives by: 6/08/2020".

  • +3

There is no way this monitor is $1,299, this price was a mistake, the RRP should be $699 before discount.

    • +3

      Someone didn't buy one

      • +1

Yup, don't need one, got gaming laptop G7 deal.

    • I told my friend but he didnt get onto it in time

He just tried just before and then he told me he even messaged support and they offered $980ish for their "best price"

      • +1

I was offered $730 but have been told that the delivery window is 40 days.

        • +1

          Oh right going through support?
Ill see if he can have another crack. Anything I should pass on?

          • +1

@Vialz: Not sure if there's anything special I said, I just said it was on promotion and now its not, were you able to match the price and I didn't budge until they offered a discount.

  • Damn, Didn't see that it was a PE and now expired. Back to waiting in line for the Viewsonic stock to turn up. My local Centrecom has 170 on back order. The quick and the dead I guess.

  • -2

?? was about to buy - still available for $650 at non dell stores

    • +1

      That's for the older version.

  • Ah thanks. That said it's only USD$430 on the US website discounted from their 'RPP of 569' - I was about to buy - have emailed dell to fix this obvious error or will have to find another monitor!

    • You've emailed Dell to tell them the $1229 or $629 price was an obvious error? They'll probably reply back telling you Dell US and Dell AU are in different markets and hence different prices.

  • can anyone please confirm that they have confirmed shipping on the screen. my god so pissed atm didnt buy for 530 yesterday.

  • -1

@doweyy My friend just used AUAFFILIATES15%OFF even though it currently states 1,200 it goes down to $534.66 he paid and got confirmation.

  • +1

Just spoke to a dell rep via Chat - he thought the first price was an error - similar to above emailed me a formal quote for $980. No change of paying this. I was literally ordering the damn monitor when the price changed this morning.

    • So its a price error? Darn it

  • Achanta_Sri_Hanuma seemed to think so : (

This is just the opinion of a dell chat chap in Sydney though! Just pissed I literally missed it by seconds.

    • Oh no. It's now been flagged. Great. I guess we are all going to miss out.

      • Anyone know how has Dell reacted to price errors in the past?
The day is nearly over, but no one has reported cancellations as of yet. Fingers crossed

        • From memory, in the past they've cancelled/refunded price error on a hard drive but they've honoured price error on a printer.
Hard to say what they will do this time.

  • +10

Mines shipped. It's actually happening. Dell will have to pry it from my cold dead hands if they want it back!

    • +1

What was your shipping date under the 'Packing Slip' tab on the order?

      • +2

Mines due on the 5th. I ordered on Friday morning though.

      • Mine says Ship date 04/08/2020 and Arrival 06/08/2020 but has nothing but confirmed email/SMS. Hope mine doesnt get cancelled. Price now is 1.2k

        • +2

Based on what @nomoneynoproblems, they had an eta of 05/08/2020 which gives them a ship date of today 03/08/2020 (based on an estimated 2 business day delivery). If the ship date is correct, we should see some orders going out tomorrow as well. :)

      • If it means anything, this morning my shipping date was 3/08/2020, but it's now been changed to 4/08/2020. Still on "In Production" though.

    • Same here! I just refreshed my page and it's now shipped. I didn't use the ECU5 code though :(

    • Mine also marked as shipped (haven't received an email notification yet though). I don't think it was a price error given the price worldwide - US, UK and EU had similar discounts.

Edit: ordered 10mins after the first ozbargain post.

      • I can't see how people think this is a price error. It's just a decent deal due to codes, otherwise normal price

        • +1

Well I guess the US RRP was originally advertised as USD$570 which is a bit more than AUD$629.

        • I know people like you who if it was free, they would still think it wasn't a decent deal.

      • +1

        Yep. Shipped here as well.

I'm curious whether they'll cancel those who used the ECU5 code on the basis that they aren't eligible for it because they're not studying/working at a tertiary institution. Someone posted on the other post saying that they've been requested by Dell to verify via email.

        Hope everything is honoured.

  • +3

There's a possiblity that their computers auto generate the $1200 fake price when all stock is sold but the price is auto returned to $600 price when someone cancel's their order. If so, and you did want one badly could keep trying randomly hoping for a cancel (Not saying that's what is happening, but maybe)

    • +1

It'll suck if you actually bought at the fake $1200 price. If sold out, the only appropriate action is to remove it from the website.

  • +3

I just purchased it for $534.66 few minutes ago. 15% off code worked. But when I tried to apply 5% off code it said that code has already been applied. Anyways I used cashrewards which currently has 6% cashback for dell monitors.

Just to add, i already had this monitor in my cart from yesterday but in morning it was listed at full price. I kept going back and forth and was eventually able to see the price of 534.66 with discount.

    • how long did it take you to do this? and did you just click back and forward each time?

      • I tried to refresh my cart maybe half a dozen times since 11am. And on my last successful attempt I went to Dell website through cash rewards and it showed up with discount.

        • ah dang, you may have just got a lucky refresh when they restocked. I guess I'll try later on and sit out on this deal.

    • +1

      Props on the dedication.

On a side note, given Dell are restocking at the sale price, seems the price is legit…

      • Ive read a few people saying "best price" is 980 from support. However $980 isnt competing with the LG so who knows

    • Have you got email cpnfirmation from CR for 6% cash back, as although it says 6%, I got email for only 3% though.

    • +2

Cashrewards wont be paid out since a code was used. It will track as normal but will be declined within a few weeks
