Why no S2721DS? Rather pay bit more to have the option to adjust height etc..

    • It's allocated elsewhere and we won't see many, if any deals.

      • What do you mean by allocated elsewhere ? and do you mean there might be chance of having the DS on deals coming Black Friday

        • +1

No deals on DS this year, it's allocated to the retail sector, brick and mortar stores have secured stock.

  • Dell 27" S2721D - can I adjust the stand / height?

    • no, but you can just put 2 books under the base…like I did. works well.

    • +1

Or get a North bayou monitor arm and have all the adjustment you'll ever need.

  • Can someone tell me how to best try to secure one of these?

    Is this right?
Go to Ebay thru cash-back (shopback) logged in to ebay, refresh the page right on 6pm, and as soon as it shows as quantity, quickly add to cart; checkout; discount code and pay?

    • +1

      you got it ~

  • How do these compare vs Dell U2719DC and would they go well together?

This is half price. Also is it possible to still somehow mount these on a bracket?

    • These are vesa mountable yes.

  • I've got a Lenovo y530 that I plug into a monitor when working at home. Is there any point in getting this monitor or should I just get a S2721HN?

    • +1

According to y530 specs, it is using NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (or 1050 TI depending which variant you have). This monitor running at 2560x1440 should work fine.

  • +1

Will there be any deal on S2721DS later or on Friday?

    • No.

  • Planning to get this as a 2nd monitor to the DGF in the upcoming BF. I'll be damned if the DGF is lowly priced as this where I couldve bought 2 in the first place😭

    • +1

Haha, never regret a bargain. I will hold you for emotional support.

  • +1

Oh damn… I really, really want to pair this with my S2721DGF and go dual monitors.

It would be excellent for those times you're gaming and video chatting at the same time! :P

    • +1

Perfect idea, my thinking right here and they're great together.

      • But… new release product coming?! lol

        • Haha, well yeh some new release products are around the corner, but they're targeted @ ultra wide fans and esports super crazy refresh rates.

    • +1

I paired the DS with my S2721DGF - they are great together.

Get this one and a vesa arm extra and it will be perfect

  • Dang… as a PC initiate I've been hearing heaps about the S2721DGF here. But at over 50% less, this deal makes me want to shun the 144hz hype

    • +1

This is still a great gaming monitor, DGF is more "I'm a serious gamer and I want the best because I pwn noobs". :)

    • +1

I mean the post does say a DGF deal is coming…

It would depend on the type of gamer you are. First Person Shooters you absolutely want ALL the frames!

      Oh, and it's 165Hz, not 144Hz. ;)

Otherwise for productivity and some light gaming you'll easily get away with 75Hz!

      • +1

        This ^

  • +1

I have my 27" gaming monitor with a 24" dell screen as my second screen, can finally make my second screen match the size of my gaming panel.

Crazy how affordable these have become.

    • +1

Yeh, it's so much better when the sizes match. Dell made them affordable to bridge a market gap. I applaud them for doing so.

  • Is this a good choice for standard desktop computer work (powerpoint, word, emails etc), currently using an old asus vn248h (1080) monitor. Don't quite understand the whole 4k, 1440, different stuff.. I don't game.

I will want to VESA mount on a monitor pole.

    • Yes it's perfect for your use, you will have more screen real estate and sharper crisper font. It is also vesa mountable.

    • Yeah you'll notice the higher resolution (1440p vs.1080p), and perhaps the higher refresh rate. It has 1000mm VESA mounting

  • +1

Alienware 38 inch ultrawide please OP

    • +2

2020 surely can't get that good.. Can it?

  • AEST or AEDT?

    • +3

Deal will go live @ 6pm (AEST) / 7 pm for Melbourne and Sydney (AEDT) / 4pm for WA (AWST) / 6:30pm (ACDT).

  • +1

LMAO someone five minutes ago reported this out of stock…..

    • +6

Looks like they need a better monitor.

  • Do you know exactly when 27" DGF deal will be up?

    • Black Friday 27th

  • Will try my luck and buy one today. Been waiting for this. I hope they don't get out of stock within few minutes…

    • +6

Surely 1500 units has to last at least an hour… Right guys… Right? O.o

  • I'm gonna go berserk if someone asks if this is good for PS5.

    • +8

Lmao I just sold my old XB271HU to a bloke who was going to use it for PS5. I warned it wouldn't work properly and he took it anyway. Two days later he tried to ask for a refund because it "didn't do what he wanted it to do". I just found it re-posted, at a markup, with "works great with my PS5" in the description. Haha!

    • +2

      hey, is this good for……..

      • +1

Noooooooooooooooo!!! Oh sorry, I got carried away there. You haven't finished your question yet.

        • Web dev3lopment? Hehe

    • Is this good for PS6? Or Xbox Series Z?

  • +1

One of the reviews on the Dell website mentions that “you will need to use the display port plug not HDMI to carry 2k”.

Is that true or is the reviewer mistaken? I’m not much of a tech head so sorry if this is obvious!

    • +1
      • +3

Thank you for the link. I’ve read through it and I’m still a little confused I’m sorry!

The rtings review states the monitor has HDMI 1.4 inputs while the article you linked states that HDMI 1.4 “Supports up to 4K (4,096 by 2,160) at 24Hz, 4K (3,840 by 2,160) at 30Hz, or 1080p at 120Hz”.
How does this relate to the 75Hz rate the monitor has? Does this mean it can only do 1080p at a 75Hz refresh rate if you use HDMI?

Apologies for the possibly dumb questions, I’m just trying to work out if this will be worth it for my use case, which is for office work from home with the work computer I have.

        • +3

Mine is running at 1440p/75hz over a bog standard HDMI cable on an old GTX970.

        • +1

I think it's dependant on the cable. Personally I use dp and it outputs fine, as the user above mentioned they are running it fine on hdmi, but I have heard that some struggle to get FreeSync 75hz variable rate working without dp. So for lack of better judgement I would just go with a display port cable to be safe.

          • @LiMaaa: Ahh true, I'm pretty sure you need to use displayport to get freesync VRR working.
My old 970 doesn't support freesync (only gsync), but this monitor works fine at a fixed 75hz output over HDMI.

    • +1

I have the DS model (Thanks LiMaaa!) and a USB dock

When the monitor is directly connected to my laptop I get 2560x1440 over HDMI

When the monitor is connected to my dock, I can only get 2048x1080 over HDMI

  • 2 of these or waiting for Xiaomi 34 on Black Friday sale (it should be around 450~ I guess)?

    • +1

      2 of these

  • +1

is the ultrawide deal pricewise competitive with the 34" Xiaomi or it is at a much higher price tag!?

    • It's a different ball park of size and quality. Higher price.

  • I am after curved in 27 inch or 32 inch, anything we have or upcoming OP?

  • Hi Op, can i buy two of these to pair together? Or have to buy this and S2721DGF to pair?
    Thanks

    • +1

You don't need to buy the DGF, that monitor is a gaming monitor (144Hz/165Hz compared to this one which is 75Hz). You can buy two of these if you want.

    • Up to you, can pair these 2 or 2 dgf or 1 of each. Whatever suits your needs.

  • anyword on the S2721HGF, the Dell page has a great deal at the moment, but Ebay is full price, will Friday beat the dell page deal?
any other suggestions for a gaming monitor in that price range?

    • I don't think we will have the HGF on Black Friday deals. Now is the time to strike.

  • I'm really happy with mine from a previous sale. I'm glad I got this and not the S2721DGF which is more than double the cost and many people complain about the black level uniformity on that one.

    • I love my S2721DGF - better for gaming than this.

I did buy the DS to sit alongside of it for work

      • It's better for gaming, but it's not twice as better.

The lower contrast ratio also can't be great for watching movies/shows.

        • hmmm now you got me thinking; why do you think this is better than S2721DGF apart from its lower price?

          • @[Deactivated]: Well I don't think it's better. I think it's better value for most people. It does however have a slightly higher contrast ratio and better black uniformity/backlight bleeding than the S2721DGF, so if you don't play games then yeah I guess it's better if you also don't work with or want a 10bit colour space. The HDR is so average on the S2721DGF that it's best to leave it in SDR mode so you don't clip details or have massive local zones of differing brightness.

The S2721DGF is 10-bit and has an SRGB clamp. If you don't know what those are then you won't be missing out on them, but they are good for colour accurate work outside of the SRGB colourspace (pretty much everything is SRGB so don't worry). Some people may prefer the oversaturated colours if pushing an 8bit image into a 10bit panel without an SRGB clamp. That's not an option with the S2721D, only with the S2721DGF.

            • @studentl0an: ok thanks for the explanation; i do play games but only sports game like NBA2K, FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer and RPG games like Tomb Raider, so nothing like FPS games such as CoD Cold War. So the question is: do I really need S2721DGF or should I settle with S2721D? Will it make noticeable difference in those games that I play?

              • @[Deactivated]: Do you play those games with a controller? If so then no, high refresh rate gaming is just as much about the feel as the look and part of the feel is having a high polling rate mouse and a keyboard.

I personally don't think it's worth more than double the cost. I'm really happy with this monitor. It's big, bright, sharp and has really nice accurate colour. The only significant difference for gaming is 2x the refresh rate and tightening of pixel response times eliminating the minor smearing or overshoot that the S2721D has in normal or fast mode (menu setting). I'm happy with 48fps in newer titles like RDR2 because of this monitor being gsync compatible, before that I was 60fps or my mood was like a pro gamer seeing fps drop below 144.

Being freesync/g-sync compatible is a big upgrade if you are coming from a monitor without it. I also really felt the reduction in input latency that a lot of titles have when I got rid of v-sync.

              • -1

@[Deactivated]: studentl0an is right that this is a better value monitor, but i would never consider buying this for gaming. Only as a work station

This monitor is great as my second monitor for multitasking, it is a crisp beautiful screen, but repeat not for gaming

I personally have had no bleeding in my S2721DGF and have found after tweaking the colours they are great and it is one of the best value monitors specifically for gaming and definitely for playing sports titles due to the higher refresh rate. It is worth the additional money.

You will notice tearing and smearing on all panels that have a refresh rate lower than 100Hz on new titles

As studentl0an is only going off a couple of reviews and doesn't own the monitor, i would take their advice with a grain of salt.

Even LiMaa has the S2721DGF and loves it.

The negative reviews on the Dell site is more specific to delivery times on some batch's

                • @tnarg: To say that you will notice tearing on a monitor that is g-sync compatible is false. 100hz plus has nothing to do with tearing if your refresh rate isn't synced with the output frames. That's just fact. That's how variable refresh rate works.

To say that you will notice smearing at less than 100hz is false also. Smearing is a result of pixel response times, not the refresh rate of the screen. This monitor has minor smearing in the 'normal' response time, however it also has a 'fast' response setting in the menu which eliminates the smearing but introduces minor overshoot at lower than 60fps. If you are locked at 75fps then the overshoot is pretty much unnoticable.

To say that this monitor isn't for gaming, and only suited to workstation use is elitist, false and bad advice to gamers on a budget. This is a fantastic monitor for gaming at the price, easily better value then spending twice the amount.

To say that you and Lilmaaa love the monitor for gaming is fine, that's your opinion and not false information. My opinion is this monitor is great for gaming too and you don't need to spend $550 on a monitor to have a fantastic 1440p gaming experience when $220 will do, especially when there was an AOC Q27G2S for $390 the other day with the same specs as the S2721DGF.

It's potentially harmful to those in this community who are looking for advice when you give false information. Opinion is fine, but please check your information before presenting it as fact.

                  • -1

@studentl0an: You are making an opinion on an item you have not used or owned. I have acknowledged some of your points and disagree with some. Everyone needs to make their own informed and researched opinion before making any purchase. I can see that find it difficult when someone disagrees with your 'elitist' and so well informed position on topics. And $220 is not $390, nor did I mention to buy the DGF. The AOC is a solid option for those on a budget. Calm down, reread my comment and let the person take it as another opinion.

                    • -1

@tnarg: Opinions aside, you wrote false information and it needs to be corrected for the sake of other community members. Believe what ever incorrect information you want, just don't write to others that they will notice tearing less than 100hz, that they will notice smearing at less than 100hz or that this monitor is unsuited for gaming.

Maybe you could do some research now as to why that information which you provided was blatantly false using the information I provided, rather than call me elitist for pointing out your incorrect information and actual elitist opinions gatekeeping of what others should game on.

I don't think you know the definition of elitist is, as it's strange you would now call my opinion elitist when I was criticising yours for actually being elitist by gatekeeping what monitors can be gamed on. By definition I'm the one being more democratic with what monitors people can game on while you are being much more constrained i.e. elitist.

Please do research about what causes tearing and smearing/overshoot (hint: it's nothing to do with >100hz refresh rate as you wrote) as in the future it would be great if you could provide factual and not false information to others.

                      • @studentl0an: Student10an - i have looked up tearing and smearing and indeed you are correct that I have confused my terminology so I apologise for that. I still stand by my comment that the DGF is a much better gaming monitor if you can afford it. If not there are some cheaper alternatives. I have both monitors so I know the difference.

Great deal OP. Will I get 75hz & Freesync using HDMI or will I need a Displayport cable?

  • Anyone using this with MacBook Pro ? Do I need a usb c to display port cable to get 1440p or will HDMI cable suffice ?

  • Excellent monitor for the price, got one on the last deal.

Do be aware that dell use the cheapest 'express' startrack delivery service which will not redirect the item to your local post office.
After multiple phone calls to star track and dell I ended up needing to leave work early one day to collect it from Perth airport, where the depot was only open 10am to 5pm.

I'm really happy with the monitor but the inability to collect from anywhere outside of business hours (in Perth anyway) was quite frustrating.

    • +1

got mine directed to post office last time for 24". picked up on same day.

      • Star track advised that was only an option if the 'premium' service was used, where as dell used 'express' which they advised is the cheapest.

Hopefully others have better luck, with mine there was an option to collect from a business centre outside of work hours but that was crossed out by the driver leaving only 'be home for redelivery' or 'airport depot collection'.

        • May be because I live in Brisbane?

          • +1

@hopper: Could be, at first Dell told me it was too heavy to take to a post office, then star track said it would have gone to post office if the 'premium' service was used, but it wasn't available for 'express' service.

Was quite frustrating but the monitor is very nice for the price so all in all it was worth it.

  • plus cashrewards?

    • Putting in coupon code, not eligible.

      • of course… thanks.

  • +2

This is a crazy good deal.

    • +4

Dell wanted to make a good impression with you guys for black Friday. Win win.

  • What's the quality control like with this monitor?

I'm keen to purchase one to use along side my S2721DGF but I'm worried about a few dead pixels (my strike rate is 50% with purchasing monitors with dead pixels). I know Dell has a dead pixel policy but it's pretty underwhelming (6 dead/bright pixels warrants a free exchange). I'm almost tempted to purchase 2x monitors to improve my odds (and send 1x back)!

    • +2

Personally I have had no issues with my s2721d nor my DGF, that being said I have noticed far fewer qc complaints regarding this monitor.

  • I've got delivered this from previous deal. Should I return it for tomorrow? I have $50 ebay voucher now…

    • +1

It might be another month until this one ships.

If being without a great monitor for a month is worth $20 then by all means, go for it. The $50 ebay voucher can be spent on anything so it's not like it's going to make this monitor $50 cheaper.

      • Can you stack codes on ebay? I tried and failed last week to stack $50 voucher with 10% code on ebay plus item :(

        • Was it the new signup for eBay plus where it costs $50 and you get $50 voucher? I thought those were as good as cash and could stack with other codes but maybe not anymore.

            • @hopper: Damn, eBay getting worse by the day. I've been without eBay plus for half a year but they sent me that $50 promotion and I was considering signing back up for it. If it can't be stacked with a promotion then I won't be signing back up for it.

    • +1

      have $50 ebay voucher now

      You cannot use two codes

  • I am looking at doing away with my TV (old Sony Bravia) and play the new Xbox Series X on a desk with a monitor. Can anyone recommend me a good monitor to look at getting? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated I know very little about "tech".

    • @LiMaaa any help greatly appreciated :)
