    • It just depends on your luck. I have to go to Coles at 6am this morning and can still buy $250 cards. Any stores has stock can be sold out within 5' after opening. You need to plan ahead.

      • It seems lots of people are creating their luck by hiding them … anyway, not going to lower to that level.

    • Ok, I stand corrected. Looks like there are some people able to get the $250 cards based off responses here. I'm yet to find any in Melbourne but you never know. Keep hunting those unicorns

  • +3

FYI, my son just found about a dozen $250 cards in the Marion SA Coles if anyone in local SA area needs some, we've bought all our budget will allow 😊 very happy now all utilities will be paid in advance with some change to do a very large shop πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ thanks @tightarse this added about an extra $100 to my purse 😊 thank you again 😊

    • Only $50's now at Marion. Technically could be more value than the others if used wisely. But $250 you can't lose.

      • Sorry you missed out @tunzfun001on the $250's, if you want to go for a bit of a drive they had loads of $100 at the Parkholme store this morning. They weren't just in the purple packaging but also scattered in the pink packaging (which there were 3 pegs of). My first impression was the pinks were only for $50 but there were heaps of $100's when I looked through. A saving of $5.50 is still a saving :)

        • +1

Cheers, I rang around and got 3x $100's from the Coles down the road. They were light blue or purple packaging. More cards for first use promos is a bonus anyway. So will get at least another $60 value out of each. Promo goes for a few more days. Will try for a $250 later.
Did manage to use my discounted e-gift cards to buy, so that's a bonus.

          • @tunzafun001: What are the first use promos available? Pls DM me if you don't want to share them here

  • I bought 5 but in my excitement, forgot to give the flybuys card. Can I get it credited after the fact?

    • +2

I think you have a week to take the receipt in and get it credited

      • +2

Yep and has to be the same store too

    • +1

Don't use it. They will just increase the minimum spend for all your future bonus points (which I think is the point of this whole promotion).

  • Couldn't find any $250 ones but got a bunch of $100's. Idk if the whole ordeal was worth it but it is what it is πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

  • Checked two Coles, one immediately after opening. One seemed to have no $250s but I found a few hidden behind the $100s. The other had only a few $50s left.

  • +2

No Coles Mastercards of any denomination at my local. Just a big empty gap where they usually are. I think the manager may have removed them all.
Perhaps people were hiding them or generally doing dodgy things

    • +3

Staff being dodgy, stopped us after only buying a couple and said they wanted to buy some themselves. Hadn't reached the limit of 5.

  • +1

Coles Roselands - plenty of $100s
    No $250s/$50s

  • I bought 5x $250, forgot to scan flybuys though.

    • you did not miss any points anyway as there would be none with gift card purchase

      • does it count for spend x in one shop bonus's?

        • No

        • not at all, but used Coles credit card for x2 flybuys what amount spent anyway :)

      • +1

        Not in my experience.

  • +1

Do you think it's worth scanning of
Flybuys? I'm wondering whether it's worth it for the points versus the future points promotions.

    • +1

I'm not scanning flybuys to remain hidden :)

And : flybuys said: We're sorry for any confusion regarding collecting points from gift card purchases. … Currently at Coles Supermarkets, you won't collect flybuys points for purchases of Coles, Coles Express, Liquorland, First Choice Liquor, Kmart, Target or "Coles Group and Myer" gift cards.2 Jan 2020

      • These cards are not listed above, so I wonder if they do give points as well. I was surprised that the TCN cards I got from Woolies counted towards a shop that got me bonus points, they were just another retail item. Hoping these GCs do get points, it will make the deal even better.

        • you mean Woolies shop offer?

    • not worth scanning it if you want to buy more of these cards than just 5, staff said no flybuys points added too and it is better to not scan flybuys :)

      • the staff has no clue what he/she is talking about.

      • went to different coles this morning and all staffs told me the same thing. no flybuys points on those coles mastercard gift card. scanned it anyways for fuel dockets

        • +2

I repeat again, many Coles staffs have no clue how Flybuys points work.

          • @samehada: I can confirm there is no flybuys point with gift card purchases, the only way to use Coles credit card to pay for x2 points of amount spent, scan anyway to get fuel voucher lol

            • +5

@webtherapist: You are wrong, only Coles/Coles Myer/Express don't earn you points

Fuel voucher always on the receipt, you don't need to scan flybuys to get it.

I can tell you that Coles Knox (both of the Coles) didn't have $250 GC since yesterday (09/02/2021). I checked the freezer and some other places where I think people might be hiding the cards. I didn't find anything. My suspicion is they might have already been docked by the staff earlier that day.

In another Coles, I saw plenty on the shelf 2 days ago but empty this morning. Again, checked the freezer, nothing came up. I even dog food area lol.

    Was fun in the end.

    • they could be hidden on any shelf behind expensive stuff that isn't on sale (i.e wont be noticed). Don't know why you'd assume freezer.

      • Coz another ppl in this forum said he found some in the freezer during his daily trip.

It sounds sensible to put it in there lol.

        • -1

He probably put them there the day before lol.

    • have you found any?

      • Nope. Haven't tried the bottle area (as someone in this forum suggested) yet lol.

  • Anyone know how to figure out how much money is on these once they've been used? I'd hate to think it's used up, throw it away, and end up having some $ left over on the card

  • +4

    Coles Lakemba - don’t bother
Staff saying no $50s, $100s, $250s in stock
    Both staff looked dodgy AF

    • +4

It's Lakemba. You gotta be realistic

      • +1

        Haha yeah exactly! πŸ˜‚

  • Are the cards activated immediately after purchase? Or is there a 24hrs delay or something similar?

    • +3

they are activated immediately and can be used straightaway, just used one for Preezes deal for another $10 bonus lol

      • Thanks for the heads up on this deal, I just scored a $10 bonus. A much better deal than using my 3% road assistance service discount to purchase a WW's wish gift card:)

    • -3

exactly, those who complained are just plain noob and waiting to be spoon fed.

I have found at least 3 shops with stock this morning but couldn't wake up earlier so I missed 2. The card is sold out within 5' after store opening. If you don't want to wake up at 5am go to the shop at 6am then just shut up and don't complain. For high demand items then of course you have to plan ahead.

Same as any hot deal, sometimes it is luck, you can't win all the times.

      • +2

since when 'hoarding' is something acceptable and seen as 'early bird gets the worm'…

For those who got more than 5 cards or hid cards somewhere the night before, shame on you and may karma get you one day.

  • -2

It is worth mentioning, that the difference between the $250s and the $100s is really not that much…

    2 x $250 will cost $462.60 for $500 value
    5 x $100 will cost $472.50 for $500 value

Less than $10 difference! So if you are sad to find $250s sold out but plenty of $100s, get a grip!

(note that values above do not include additional discount using coles egift card).

    • Could they have been purchased using a Coles eGift card?

      • Yes

    • +7

Seriously 5.50% discount to 7.48% discount is substantially 36% more

Take into account your only allowed 5 makes the $250's totally powerful for this promo

      Total of $66 more for 5 X $250 ( $93.50 profit ) vs 5 X $100 ( $27.50 profit ) . Only 3.4 times more :)

      • +1

How did you pass Math at school? You are comparing $1250 of gc vs $500 of gc and saying it is 3.4x more saving.

        • I think popsiee could have stopped at the percentage differences

however they're not wrong, just simply that they presented the information in an unclear fashion.

technically popsiee is correct IF you assume that you are limited to only 5 gift cards. Restating this condition would have made their data more valid and applicable.

          • @peter05: everyone knows full well that you can get from different shop even if the limit is enforced per shop so to compare you need to compare with the same value of gc.

So to use a lame excuse about limit to justify the wrong calculation is totally wrong.

  • +2

anyway, please be nice to staff in store, they can help you with more than you could expect, some staff got some $250s from back of store for my mate lol, very lucky. it is from Goonellabah NSW, with easily 30-40 of those $250 when he left, staff put them on shelf, make a trip if you are nearby.

  • +1

Staff just put stock of $250 and $100 at Coles Collingwood, VIC. He said it just came in a shipment. Get in quick guys… At least 20-30 of each

  • I went in to 2 stores this morning - Mudgeeraba and Worongary on the gold coast, and neither store had any stock at all. Worongary store said they got a lot of stock in late last week but it had all sold out before today…

    • all sold out before today…

They only had value today :)

      • -1

unless you have a credit card with price protection that you can buy before the promo, and then claim the discount via the credit card price protection once the promo becomes active.

        • Can you do price protection on gift cards though?

        • +1

Link to a credit card that allows claiming price protection on a gift card? Lol

    • -1

      someone hide them somewhere

  • Heaps of $250 ones at Coles Westfield Knox opposite Priceline. There was no 10% off displayed so a lot of people are probably not aware. Get in quick!

  • have anyone tried to get discounted egift cards from Suncorp App with these prepaid Mastercards?

    • +1

I used the 10% off coles myer card I bought last year

      • so, did Suncorp deducted a fair amount of few bucks for verification? and does that mean it works with these prepaid Coles Mastercards? thnx

        • I used coles egift card to buy gift card before without any issue

    • It works i did it yesterday. Was abit annoying with all the verification process but it works.

  • Thanks TA bought 5x$250 very happy. Many $250 card left. I think the stock just arrived. I went to the first store no Coles Mastercard Gift Card on the shelf and I asked the staff they found heaps of different gift card in their drawer and they only found 2 boxes of $50 ones. I went to the second Coles there are more than 30 $250 ones on the shelf.

  • +1

Went in store at opening, 8am, no $250 on shelf, heaps of $100 + $50's , then found 8 x $250's behind a heap of $50's… ( grabbed 5 ) Coles lady came up and asked if I called up about them, she had saved them behind the counter..said not me, then a guy came and said it was him, went to the checkout, the lady had saved the wrong cards for him.. think he was still able to get 3 from the shelf that I Put to the front …

    • +2

Only mistake was not to pocket the other 3 for latter . These people that call around really do `^ it up for everyone . Drawing a lot of Staff/Manager attention to the happenings.

  • you reckon these can be used for afterpay payments?

  • -4

I went into two Coles supermarkets in Perth's north shortly after opening and none had $100 or $250 cards. Staff said $50s were all they had. False promo. They had loads of them last week.

If Coles thought they'd get people in shops this way, they were wrong. We walked out, went to nearby Woolworths and brought groceries.

    • I just bought 5 $250 in Perth north there are about 20 left. The store is Innaloo. Scarborough store only has $50 in the service desk drawer

      • Nort Perth & Dog Swamp had nothing but $50 ones. And I can bet they'll have plenty of stock this time next week.

        • From others: only $50 cards in Coles West Leederville, none in Coles Subiaco.

    • Was at Riverton Coles when it opened this morning. Not a single card available at all (I was the 2nd person at the cards section, some other guy got there before me and he only managed 2 cards…)

    • +1

Bought five $250 cards at Coles Basso at 08:45. There were about 10 left.

They were in the main giftcard end. Couldn't see any $50 or $100 ones there and I didn't check the registers or anywhere else.

    • +1

You sure showed Coles who's boss.

  • +2

Coles Garden City, QLD, 2 young guys staff hold the cards in the box (at cigarettes counter) for themselves. I asked them if I can have the cards they said nothing left. Doggy!

    • I asked and they gave me 5 $100 ones. Said they had no $250.

      • +1

probably after they read this comment, lol

  • +11

Just bought 5x $250 cards from Noarlunga SA. 8 left in stock. Lots of $100 and $50 there too.

I actually broke the self checkout machine. When I crossed $1000 in scans the machine locked up and asked for a supervisor password. She entered the password, but then the machine asked if the cards are being used to falsely pay for scammers. She kept on clicking Yes, and then reentering her password. She did this about five times before I suggested clicking No. Well, the No button didn't work. I had to use a second checkout to complete the transaction.

    • LOL

    • +1

I got same issue in Coles Warrawong NSW, and staff ask me to check in different machine, paid 4 + 1 success.

    • Good to know and noted stay under 1K at self checkouts . Normal checkouts is fine to be over .
Woolies is stay under 1K (normal checkouts/ self checkouts ) during promos also to avoid the biz number crap .

      • I was also asked if the cards are for personal use, to which I truthfully replied yes. The supervisor later said it's to protect me. I was buying the maximum allowed so wasn't worried about the questions and extra hassle. But yes, if you want to avoid extra scrutiny keep the total under $1k.

    • Limit of 4 cards per transaction
