            • @Mad Max: I treat it as a good opportunity for exercise, I get a bargain and/or I get exercise (better to get both, but you can't always win). Some of the better mark downs are not even in any catalog, you have to be there to get them and be lucky on timing.

  • How is everybody finding using it?

The three places I've tried to use it online (Bingle insurance, Book Depository, and Abe Books) have all declined the card.

Any success stories from it working, or is there an additional 'activation step' required?

I use these frequently to pay my electricity bill online, Doctor and medical services when attending in person. As the amount you can get with discount is limited I only use them where AMEX is not accepted. Cwongtech on previous page mentioned loading it onto paypal and others have mentioned paying bills at the post office. You could also use them at Woolsworth, better discount than available from their GC.

Here's the thing about using them to buy Woolworths GC …. that's okay, if it doesn't cost you more. You already bought a Coles MasterCard GC for discount, once that purchase is done, it is just another source of "money". Best to use the GC where no other discount or additional cost comes in to play; if there is an additional cost, say a credit card fee, then only use it if the fee is low enough for you to be happy with OR use and alternate payment method that doesn't have extra fees.

They are accepted almost everywhere I go.

Used them at restaurants, costco, officeworks, internet bills, phone bills, fuel, even my wholesale suppliers are accepting these cards over the phone.

If I could, I would've liked to buy more of these cards purely because it is effectively a discount everywhere you go.

        refused at Bunnings

        • I wonder if it was just a network error, would be surprised if you couldn't buy retail goods at Bunnings with them.

          • @affinity: may well have been will try again.. girl said gift cards were not accepted

lol at the neggers… just stating what happened.

        • i'm surprised as well. did you check the balance online before hand? press credit and enter the pin (not the access code)?

          • @c64: did all that… girl just commented you can't use gift cards and repeated when I queried.

on reflection should have pushed it.. as above will try again.

            • @IanC: oh, if the cashier is saying you can't use gift cards then that might be the case

you can purchase a bunnings gift card at coles but that is a pain.

              • @c64: purchasing online and click & collect might also work

                • +3

@c64: Just spoke to Bunnings support and after some time they confirmed that it could be used instore but not online and any returns could not be put back on the card.

Anyway I phoned my psychiatrist as I was very worried over the neggers however he assured me that although it was a very big deal to be negged on Oz Bargains with medication I will be able to recover.

I successfully used them at Bunnings 'Special Orders' desk, and did a split payment over 2 GC's.

@Peck: Good Thanks. Staff obviously wrong.

Are you kidding when you can buy the discounted card with them.

    • Giftcard @ Woolies: Item not allowed!

      • Well figure it out Bud I have bought all the popular range(Ebay, AMZ , Wish ) of giftcards with them :)
Didn't you end up with a ton of $18.70 cards buying this card with it ?

        • I am saying Wish eGC is not almighty.

  • Does anyone successfully using these cards to pay for Brisbane City Council rates or water bills to Urban Utilities at Australia Post?

    • I used them to pay rates in a different QLD town. I used the online payment and typed the amount I wanted to add to my rates bill ($250) and went through to payment.

      • Thanks. I only managed to get $100 ones. Used 5 to pay my BCC rates online. Can't use them at post office.

    • Go here, scroll down to Council's online payment service - rates payment only, click on that. You need your rates reference number to continue to payment. You just need to make sure you type the amount you wanna pay.

Thanks again. I did exactly this.

  • I scanned the flybuys card one time for $500 cards purchase and got a 2000 points promo for $110 purchase, up $10 from last 2000 points promo.
Can stack with the current 10k points for $80x4 weeks so might go with it… Do they sell spines?

  • I paid $750 into my water bill online with no issues, South East Water

  • Does anyone know if these $100 Coles Mastercard Gift Cards can be used at Australia Post to pay for car registration in Victoria? Apparently Victorian car rego is about $848 so required split payments using multiple cards. Thanks in advance.

    • They are just Mastercards. Are Mastercards accepted at Australia Post? Yes.

Does Victorian car rego accept credit card payments at Australia Post? Refer to your bill.

      • I understand what you are saying and did check my bill. My point is that it involves using multiple cards which I am not sure if payment system will allow it. You do know that agreement between VicRoads and Australia Post is different from agreement between utilities companies and Australia Post, right? VicRoads won't allow you to pay $200 today and pay the balance next week, not through Australia Post.

I am hoping someone has actually tried or succesfully done it and can speak from experience. But any thought is appreciated.

        • You can do split payments at VicRoads but will need to pay the full amount in one go. I did that when Zip had 3% cashback weekdays. So if rego is $800+, you will need 9x $100 Coles Mastercards.

          • @lilkid28: Yes, I know VicRoads requires payment in one go and does allow split payments, but 9 cards are a bit extreme which I am not sure. I did ring up VicRoads and they have no idea.

            • @apple0604: If i recall correctly (think I tried some years ago), I think payment for Vicroads Rego in Auspost also need to be paid in one go. So you will need the person at counter to agree to split the payments for you.

          • +2

@lilkid28: You can only do maximum 3 card payments at VICRoads, you can split payment multiple times at Post Office for VICRoads though, may sure they select credit card option.

            • @samehada: I got caught short by this once using EFTPOS cards. After the third card you need to pay the rest in cash. He couldn't refund it to the EFTPOS card either so I couldn't pay with another card. Ended up refunding the 3rd $100 payment to my debit card, this allowed me to pay the rest using the debit card.

The post office can do multiple cards, but you will be charged a fee ~0.5% for using a credit card. Sometimes they won't accept gift cards for certain payments under instructions from head office.

            • @samehada: I justvremembered that I paid my driver's license fee at Post Office last year and 3 cards max allowed. So when you said multiple cards allowed at Post Office, did you do it recently? Things might have changed. I have never paid at VicRoads customer service centre though.

              • @apple0604: Post Office has no card limit, just find one that has nice staff who is willing to help split payment.

You can also pay concession rate rego at post office except Pensioner Concession which can only be paid at VicRoads.

                • @samehada: Thank you so much. Will go tomorrow if I can. The lady at my local Post Office is very nice. All J have to do it to make sure she select Credit, right?

BTW, unfortunately no concession or pensioner concession.
