    • Have you sent them an email?

    • Im with you and Rohit1254. I bought one yesterday. Since it hasn't been despatched yet, we should be able to cancel our order and reorder using this code I'd assume? I've asked them on Twitter and email how I can do this.

      • Sent a email via members area, awaiting response and I will email QQQ who posted deal.

      • From qqq's post above:

"For people that ordered prior to me posting this special: Email me at [email protected] with a subject line that includes your order number and the words "COME ON, HELP ME OUT". It must include those words…. I'll get the guys at CS to sort you out with a $58.95 refund."

      • I'm in the same boat as you but I'm going overseas next friday and would like to take it over there to get the tax refund so I don't want to cancel it and re-order as this might impede on delivery time. Did you happen to ask if you could get the coupon discount without reordering?

    • +2

How is it COTD's fault that you were happy to pay more for it yesterday? You agreed to the purchase at the time.

  • +1

I bought one in the morning. Can I cancel that order and order it again with the code??

  • -1

Anyone know if this dual-boots to Android?

  • +37

I have a solution for all orders made before I posted this special. Email me at [email protected] with a subject line that includes your order number and the words "COME ON, HELP ME OUT". It must include those words…. I'll get the guys at CS to sort you out with a $58.95 refund.

    • Thanks Email sent :)

  • was just about to hit purchase with my credit card and realised to qualify for the cashback you need to cut out the barcode from the box…cant do that when im giving it to someone as a gift >:( dang!

    • +2

Buy a nice gift box & put it in that, you local $2 shop probably has them for stuff-all! ;)

    • +8

It's OK. I'll live with the cut box ;)

    • Box integrity held fine on my Acer eMachines netbook box after removing the rebate sticker - just use a Stanley knife to score at a shallow level into the top layer of cardboard around the sticker - then the top-layer of cardboard should peel off easily leaving a still very presentable box. (Presumes Acer using same/similar cardboard boxes)

  • +2

why not. Just take the top layer off. People don't look at a gift horse in the mouth. So what if you got a discount anyway.

    • Exactly. Plus you could always send in the warranty rego card on their behalf & tell them you had to use the barcode to register the warranty! :p

      • +1

Ah, the true Ozbargainer :P That's what I did with the iPod Touch I got with the Apple Education program! (It's worse for me since you don't need to register the warranty with Apple at all!)

  • +2

ozbargain, why are you so awesome?

    • My wallet just told me to tell you that he disagrees…apparently OzB makes baby jesus cry :(

    • +9

You guys should give a big thank you to QQQ.

OzBargain is great when people collaborate on finding bargains, however merchants coming in to offer even more discount just makes it even better (although some are just abusing it, but hopefully voting would sort it out).

      • +6

        OK then: ThanQQQ!

  • Hey QQQ,

Will this coupon be active tomorrow? I'm having a think about it.

    • I think it's active until it's sold out(could be today).

  • -5

just Bought netbook… don't know why tho :S

    LMAO I'm + voter 69

  • +1

Thanks OzBaaarrgaaiin, I bought one too, but have no idea why I bought it… it's not like I need it or anything!!!

    • +2

have a play with it for a month then im happy to buy from you for $125

      • haha I'll get back to you in a month

      • I'll give you $125.01 :)

      • Do you also have a $50 off voucher and free shipping? :p

    • Same here :p

  • A good deal as a basic netbook, but if you are after full HD playback without hiccups then I'd fork out an extra $110 for this Toshiba one! http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/landing/paypal_hotbuy?c…

  • +4

Same.. Bought one for "random" use probably putting more ram in. btw thanks ozbargain and cotd! Cotd rep, could you push these orders out first as we need to put the rebate in before deadline. It's a fair argument. None of the other orders have deadlines. It will save you and cs a lot of headaches.

  • +1

Good deal, we bought a couple here at work. Can anyone confirm the DDR3 RAM can only be increased to 2GB not 4GB? It also sounds like getting access to the RAM slot is a bit involved.

    • Well, Win7 Starter only recognise up to 2GB worth of ram. So if you want to put a 4GB stick in it, you'll need to upgrade Win7 as well.

      • but can it support 4gig? (assuming upgrade to full windows)

  • Looks like a good deal with the 3g.

Purchased a HP Mini 5102 with 2gb RAM from OrangeIT for $248 last year, and still running very well. One of the best purchases i've made IMO from OZbargaun, hopefully for the buyers this is just as good!

  • I need to buy a new phone (Optimus 7) but I'm finding it hard to resist this.

  • -1

has any netbooks got 3g in market?!

  • Get a 2GB stick of RAM for this. Makes a world of difference.

However, the RAM is a b**ch to upgrade compared to Asus netbooks.

Still, for $14 (current MSY prices for a 2GB DDR3 SO-DIMM), it's worth the hassle.

  • +4

Hmmmm.. can COTD deliver within 14 days of purchase date? Otherwise, we can't claim the cash back.

    • +1

Like all CTD deliveries, some seem to get it quick, and for others it takes an eternity. There will be a lot of tears here, just you watch.

  • Got one for my wife.. thanks

    • +23

      Fair swap.

  • +3

On the COTD website it states:
Catch Of The Day aims to get parcels posted out within 5 days of ordering, however, we ask that you please wait 15 days to receive your delivery.
Our warehouse guys will pack them as quickly as possible. (We work them very hard!)
**Please note that currently we are experiencing a heavy demand for products and subsequently, we have some processing delays but are working very hard to get these up to date.

Hey Rep QQQ - can you please ensure we receive the goods within 14 days for the cashback offer otherwise there will be alot of unhappy customers and plenty of returns. It will be a logistics nightmare…

    • Well my last purchase with COTD this month (not this particular item tho) was delivered within one week. It's nice. Wish they can maintain this effort.

    • +1

you can always email them in that case to change the invoice date, shouldnt be that hard

  • +1

great to see sufficent amounts as well, 9 and a half hours and still stock… kinda regretting buying the android tab…

  • +6

I contacted Seamus of COTD at 9pm and just received a reply approximately one hour after. Excellent service. This guy should not be working now but chooses to post on whirlpool and reply to emails after hours. He definitely deserves a promotion.

Anyhow, I thought I would clear something up for you guys.

The customer service team has advised that the cashback is valid for 14 days after being delivered to you.

    • thanks for the info.

But i wonder how they (Acer) verify the "delivery date" though? Is the purchase day on the receipt the same day as the date of dispatch?

    • +1

Acer want your original purchase receipt, not your delivery receipt. CTD produce your receipt upon payment. If that was true the rep would post that here directly, with an offer of a full refund for those that don't qualify for the gift card.

      4) Delivery dockets, hand written store receipts and photocopies of the barcode will not be accepted. No responsibility is taken for late, lost or misdirected mail.

      7) The purchase date is determined by the date of the store tax invoice submitted by the customer with the claim.

Just remember it doesn't matter what CTD say, it's Acer's promotion and Acer's T&C's

    • Where is the link to this statement "The customer service team has advised that the cashback is valid for 14 days after being delivered to you."

Or is thus a Personal email to you, if so please let us know the email address so we can request as well

      cheers

  • -8

No cashback - just a gift coupon

    • .

    • +2

i was your 6th neg vote, oops xd

  • so is cashback claim valid if item not received in 14 days of invoice. Please reply as it is the only thing putting me off buying one straight away

  • really good deal, tempting but no !

  • Maybe send an invoice that is dated a few days later for those ordering this laptop

  • Last time I ordered the windows phone from CTD it took almost 4 weeks to arrive. If you order this you will have 2 weeks from the time you pay to receive your laptop then make sure you get the paper work back to them. If your laptop does not come in the first 10 days after you order I don't like your chance of redeeming the gift card.

  • +2

Sp tempting, but finding it hard to justify another laptop/tablet. Currently have a desktop, Asus transformer, work laptop, hp touchpad, wife laptop. Do I really need another device?

    • +2

      Er.. yes!? :)

    • +1

I didn't know you were allowed to marry a laptop

      • It's only illegal to marry a daughterboard :)

  • Where can we use the giftcard? Woolworths or something useful or is it just 4 ACER products??

ACER use to give actual "CASH/Cheque" as that is really cashback not giftcards.

    cheers

    • Again, it's an EFTPOS Card, redeemable pretty much wherever EFTPOS is accepted.

      • Can't you cash out from an EFTPOS Card?

        • Not with this one. I have tried it on another Acer Cashback card.

  • expected deleivery time?

  • I'm tempted but think I'll resist! How does this unit compare with your middle of the pack newer models for speed and power?

In terms of cashback, COTD are promoting it with that as an incentive. I expect they'll be trying to ensure they're shipped in time but if they don't I think you're on pretty good ground to as for a refund.

Note: fine print says the integrated 3G is not compatible with Telstra's NG network, so you'll need to use another telco.

  • -1

hmmm are we use it can't be used on Telstra Next G?

I checked the modem specs on acer's website and it comes up with this:

    • WWAN8: UMTS/HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) at 850/1900/2100 MHz and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), upgradeable to 7.2 Mb/s HSDPA and 2 Mb/s HSUPA (for 3G models)

    Next G is on 850

    • if no good on Telstra Next G then i'm fed not buying it.

    • Maybe it just means you can't have Next G's "Turbo 21"?

    • Hi ezza,

Can you post the link to the Acer page that has the AOD255-N55DQGws specs. I can't seem to find this specific model. Thanks.

      • sorry i think i was looking at this model as AOD255 on the acer site… not this specific model.. i'm still of the belief that telstra 3g will work… guess i'll find out when i receive it! otherwise off to ebay it goes lol.

  • Just bought one on impulse again! Planning to use an existing SSD drive and upgrade the ram to 4gb.

Didnt realize that there's no RAM access from the bottom! You'd have to remove the keyboard to do this?

Also will this work with the iPad Telstra Prepaid sim? Or is that NG, therefore no go?

  • Does it have a kensington lock on the side?

  • Bugger - ended up caving in and purchasing one. Will be good for the kids to use and free up the main PC, or to take with us on hols.

Perfect little machine for the little guys to enjoy Reading Eggs - as previously featured on OZB!

    • +1

I tell you mate, you will end up using this and "the little guys" having all the fun on the main PC ;)

  • +1

Really great deal and I'd get one if I had a need (also grabbed one of the HP 5102's via that deal last yr).

A tweaked Win 7 install on these without all the manufacturer bloatware runs VERY well ( did on an almost identically spec'd Asus EeePC for a relative).

PS. For those that buy it I highly recommend you remove all these bloatware/crapware programs. This is a handy utility to run: http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/

Great article on this very annoying phenomonen of manufacturers loading the laptop you just bought with crap programs….I especially love how Sony offered to NOT put these programs on for customers BUT it would cost $50 EXTRA for this privledge!!!!
    http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Crapware-Bloatware-from-Your-W…

Rest assured removing this kind of nonsense (that your system either doesn't (WiFi manager utilities) need or has better low resources draw options available e.g Panda Cloud/MSE instead of Norton AV) makes a WORLD of difference to the laptop's usability.

  • OK, knowing nothing about these and some people posting about low specs, will this unit play movies loaded onto a usb? I really only need something to play a few movies for the kids and some internet access for me while on holidays. Will this unit do that?
    Thanks

    • If you are playing movies and clips in lower resolution this netbook will do just fine but if you are playing HD or full HD clips you might get hiccups and slower frame rates.

      • Keep the resolution to 720p and it'll be fine.

  • +1

I brought one.. was deciding between tablets and couldn't decide
    so this will do nicely..

I will be back to post here in a few weeks complaining about not having received it yet..

i like many have had shipping delay issues with COTD

  • I think I got the last one :)

    • No, I did. :)

  • Worst comes to worst if COTD fail us… MODIFY INVOICES? LOL

  • +4

Just an update on COTD's reponse on their fb page… COTD said they will amend the invoice dates so that we will get the cashback. COTD also said that they should be ready to be dispatched in 10days.

    • +1

      Yeh, just saw it.

CatchOfTheDay.com.au Hi Aurora Estrera-Banez, Janelle Wyatt & Quynh Nguyen. We will amend the invoice to make sure you are still eligible for the cash back offer :)

  • Sick.. thought I came up with that idea.. damnit lol

  • +4

Does anyone notice that when we click the link provided above, the deal is still on. but if we go through COTD website directly, then it says that the deal was over.
Does it mean that the deal is still active for us Ozbargainers?

  • +3

Holy crap. COTD with a good special, AND being helpful. I am amazed.

    • +2

you may notice, there isnt a mob, holding pitchforks, hungry for blood this time ashlea lol…

      • +2

Just remember, one slip & the hounds are released! :p

        • +2

No doubt, which is at it should be!

  • strangely enough the deal still seems to work through the link on ozbargain… after much tossing and turning and even though it may not work on telstra next g i still brought one lol.. the price is too good to be true! i'm travelling to europe soon and don't want to take my macbook air as its worth $1000+ and can't be bothered going through the rigmarole of travel insurance is it goes missing/stolen… for $200 (after cash back) this is well worth it i guess!!!

  • Ordered one too.
Will they drop the parcel to Post Office if nobody is home?

    • Yes. that's assuming they use Australia post.
