                • @bisaya: I had to google,..

Terabox as the name suggests offers 1 Terabyte of free cloud storage

TeraBox, a leading cloud storage solution provider based in Japan owned by Flextech inc

Android and iOS devices with all data encrypted in its cloud servers

                  👍😁

Install Degoo and get 100GB Cloud Storage FREE for Lifetime

Degoo was founded in Sweden in 2012 and is built with Swedish engineering and entrepreneurship with a global team

All plans get 256-bit end-to-end encryption, so it’s next to impossible for anyone to intercept your files when they’re in transit. Two-factor authentication is available if you use a Google account to sign in

                  👍😁

Both seem safe with end-to-end encryption and neither are Chinese companies, doesn't hurt to have both cloud storage companies so backup of backups anyway you'd be silly to store sensitive stuff on a cloud server so best just to backup videos, photos and un-sensitive files, my 2 cents 👍😁

Edit: Ok time to try out TeraBox

Personally like the degoo Android app over TeraBox Android app, looks better and little easier too use also advertising is more annoying but ain't saying no to 1 Terrabyte of free cloud storage

Both also will group folders in gallery of date taken (not date uploaded) which is great again degoo app just looks prettier 👍😁

                  • @Italkdigital: 256-bit end-to-end … in transit?????

So, not encrypted at the end server then, not good. Do pre-Internet encryption before sending files there, do that anyway for all "cloud" storage services.

                    • @affinity: I just copied what was on google, I'm no expert about encryption so 256-bit encryption end to end is no good? anyway like I said I don't store any sensitive stuff in the cloud as who knows in future ones stuff some how gets shared/posted all over the internet especially with these unknown smaller cloud companies

                      • @Italkdigital: Okay. yes well. There is end-to-end encrypted, which is what every HTTPS website does, and when this is done for the "transport", it is not saying encrypted at the other end and any local copies are also not encrypted, it is just the transfer of data between the two end points, that is in transit only.

Bugger, im out, I have a 500gb micro sd card with all my music currently in my LG V40

      • Hows your of lgv40 battery life these days?
Mine is s#4t with draining like there's no tomorrow :-( not happy Jan

        • Still really good! lets say 1.5 years old now

          • +2

@Archaleas: I dare say v40 has the best smartphone audio player. Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Sony, Nokia all move back for LG audio greatness!!!!

            • @milanoxpress: Agree, that's why I have it, used to carry around a separate DAP as a wanna be audiophile, not just use the V40

            • @milanoxpress: Would be nice if the other brands included that ESS quad DAC chip in their phones.

        • Covid app? That's the main culprit on my v30.

          • @mauricem: V30 represent. Such a great phone for circa $400. I will be sad when it finally dies. Battery is starting to struggle a bit now though, but is been well over 2 years daily use.

      • +1

You know your SD card will die some day? Probably not a bad idea to start uploading it all to Google Music.

        • I back it up to a 1TB SSD. I'm obsessive with music

          • @Archaleas: I used to only buy phones with SD cards too, but there are plenty of better ways to do music now than that. All my music is stored on my NAS, which I can then use either Plex or Synology apps to stream to any device anywhere in the world. When I get new music I don't have to worry about transferring it over to an SD card in my phone either, it's just available straight away.

Even if my phone had an SD slot I wouldn't use it. I've been burned by them in the past, having videos I've recorded just not save properly to them or become corrupted, or even worse, just having the SD card drop dead. Only ever used high speed samsung/sandisk ones from retail too.

          • @Archaleas: Yeah, but that will fail at some point too. I get your point, but there are better ways and you need to move on at some point or the tech will leave you behind. We will get to the point where mainstream phones just won't have expandable storage. Until that happens you'll need to search harder and harder to find model with support.

  • +1

Damn that's cheap, might be good to buy and keep for when my husbands phone dies. Is there many in stock or is it gonna be like a click frenzy thing

    • +1

These will have lots of stock IMO

    • +1

      Why the negative vote then?

      • Unable to buy without being a prior customer, or without selecting a plan, which could have been mentioned by OP.

        • ah ok, thanks for clarifying.

        • If you select a plan and click next, it will tell you that you have an existing service.

Then you can opt to keep your existing service and proceed.

          • @trev likes bargains: Nah I'm a new account, so no previous or existing service. Oh well, our s10+ and note 10+ still going strong, think I just had FOMO. by the time the phones die, it might actually be this price anyway.

    • +10

Google's new phone coming soon :)

      • +1

Has poor support, price, and availability in Australia. Basically, Google doesn't care much about Pixels or Australia. They're only interested in USA and maybe Canada. Even the pommies are complaining about Pixel support, let alone Europe. We're an afterthought at best. So it will continue to be lacklustre.

        • I had a Pixel 4 whose speaker stopped working after a few months. I brought it back to JB (without having to set up an appointment beforehand) who gave me a brand-new retail boxed replacement phone on the spot. I was pretty happy with that. Even Apple gives refurb replacements.

    • +5

S21 FE could be next month, S22 would be next year

      • Is the one OP posted going to be the + model or ultra model?

    • +2

Likely not until Feb/March next year. Given we're only halfway through the cycle for which this phone is the latest model in the S series, this is a great buy IMO

    • +33

S25 coming soon. Hold On fellas.

      • +3

        LOL

      • +1

        yeah S25 RRP of $3,999 !

    • +3

i mean s23 is just around the corner by the time you get the s22 so what's the point anyway? im holding out for s28

  • +7

Amazon is also probably likely to price match too on this deal.

    • +1

Any evidence to support this? Did they do this last time?

    • Have they matched Samsung phones? I've not remembered any

      • +1

Here's an earlier example of an officeworks deal and the first comment is that Amazon have matched:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/634838

Amazon policy seems to be if another store sells a product they sell and can be accessed by everyone, the they will match the price (obviously excluding price errors and clearance).

        • Doesn't seem like they came to the party. Possibly cause of the conditions of the Telstra deal.

Always good to be aware of any deals.

  • +16

Man these things plummet in value fast. Got the free S21 from JB with the $99 Telstra plan in June and gumtree'd it for $850, and 2 months later, $624 retail… @_@

    • But a sale price is not "Retail'?

      • From a retail seller I mean, not RRP of course (though probably will be in short order at this rate).

    • Gumtree vs Fb Market Palce … which one is better ?

      • They're both free to use, so por qué no los dos?

      • More scammers on FB, but if you're selling, about even I guess.

      • Fb will random delete your ad and or stuff like that. Fb for things local mums like and buy right away, gt for other stuff to set and forget.

  • +1

is the S21 worth upgrading from S10e?

    • Camera wise it's a big jump, if you care about that!

      • +1

        Can't beat night photography.

    • Other than some wanky camera features, probably not

    • Is it worth upgrading from the regular s10? I use my phone camera more than my dslr

      • +2

S10 camera is better then s21 camera in my opinion. The 1080P screen res is noticeably worse then the s10 2k screen. The higher res camera on the s10 makes for much more detailed photos when zoomed in.

        • I dunno my s10 camera really sucks indoors outside it’s decent
Screen is amazing at 3040x1440p or around there and great quality in general s10 5G

    • +1

The processor is light years better.

    • +5

Huge IMO. Especially at this price. My s10e battery would barely last a day, and performance was starting to lag.

      • +2

How much better than an s10+ does anyone need? Good screen, smooth, Camera good enough, adequate battery life? Albeit no 5g (mine anyhow) but who cares….
If you want stellar camera performance, no phone camera on the market will surpass a Sony A6500 or A7III or above with a half decent lens attached. Channel your funds into a real camera if optical performance it's so important…

        • +6

S10+ here too, despite how much I want to get the S21 on this deal I can't find any reasons to "upgrade" from my S10+.

          • @tonee88: Yup still on the fence, got the S10+ and note 10+ which are still working fine, but this price is hard to beat..

            • @MeesusEff: Did you end up getting one?

              • @tonee88: Nah. I told myself when I bought the note that I'll use it for 3 years. By that time this phone will probably be this price anyway haha. I did get a $2 sim, will see if the next Telstra days have anything better. But I probably would have bought this if it let me go through without the plan earlier. Saved myself $670 I guess!!

I would also be going from a top spec (at the time) phone to the current low spec phone so doesn't feel like much of an upgrade. No sd card is a killer as I'm already using 250+gb storage.

        • +3

I have no clue mate, I was simply replying to s10e vs s21. Much faster, more reliably smooth, deals with chrome and complex pages almost twice as fast, switching apps is far smoother (not quicker), extra 2 years of updates, much better haptics motor too. Fingerprint sensor is much quicker in my experience.

If any of that matters or not to you, doesn’t matter. Was a big upgrade for me as my s10e battery life was getting bad, and I was noticing more and more lag even after fresh factory reset. I ended up selling the s21 for a pixel 5 and then selling the pixel 5 too haha

        • How much better than an s10+ does anyone need?

Depends on what exactly you need - for most users, phones have been "good enough" for years. Probably why Android phone sales haven't been red hot in a while.

I got an S21 Ultra earlier this year, but had an S9+ before that which was still perfectly fine. The only issue was that the battery would die after half a day. Sure, the S21 Ultra is faster, has a better camera, bigger screen…etc. but it makes almost next to no difference when I hardly use my phone (at a computer all day these days).

    • +8

I'm hanging on to S10 for the microSD… will probably move on from Sammy if they continue to exclude it

      • +2

Wait up the s21 is "more advanced" and doesn't have a microsd slot? Wtf…

    • +2

same, happy with my s10e except battery life, with Android 12 update coming soon, might will stick for other year and get Flip 4

      • +2

Battery life on my 10e has taken a real nose dive recently. I used to be able to lie in bed with the battery at 50%, now it's 50% at lunchtime.

        • +1

Mine is HK version (dual sim) since I use 2 sim services always my battery is a dead horse

    • +2

I just bought 2 new refurbished s10s. Need dual sim, expandable memory and the phone jack. Camera is neither here nor there.

Unless a phone has the same options, I'm not moving. 💁‍♀️

      • Where did you get the dual SIM refurbished S10 from ?

      • Also interested ot know where you bought them!

  • +2

Any hints on note 20 ultra 5g?

  • +4

mmm… time to upgrade my Note 9 perhaps..

    • Note 9 to Note 10 felt like a big jump for me, a Note 20 Ultra would be nice though 😁🤣

  • optus, amazon, ebay i you seeing this
    great deals from Telstra!

  • SM-G991B/DS is the model number in Australia

    • still rootable?

  • I speed read the title "Half-Price for Telstra Day" and the photo showing iPhone 12…Damn it Luke, you got me excited for a few seconds.

    • +5

More deals to come! Keep a weather eye :)

      • +1

Push for s21 ultra, it'd be gold

      • Does one need to be some sort of a Telstra customer to avail these deals? Or anyone can?

    • 1/2 price iphone 12 XD

      • Hey, that's why we are in OzBargain right? There is always a surprise bargain around the corner.

    • Right, I can finally say this: we're doing 40% off iPhone 12 mini and 20% off iPad Air! https://exchange.telstra.com.au/telstra-day-september-2021/

      • We are looking for a iPhone 12(non-mini) deal that would be lower than the current Telstra offer at $1,049. $949 or $899 would be nice. 😀

  • +3

    Ooof, just bought a 2nd hand s21 128 for $680
