      • They only offering me 25% for new optus mobile as my third service! got one of $7.5 data sim and apple watch $5 data sim.

    • +1

Yes, it is for port in numbers and new contracts

  • can I add international calls pack on top of this ?

    • No, but why not use SIgnal or even, perhaps, VoIP directly on the mobile or via HotSpot?

  • +2

Just got this offer in morning and successfully applied for $10 credit first go with Telstra chat rep!

  • I just wonder why we have to contact telstra for the 10 dollars, it was applied by a Jb staff when I signed up last time. $59/month 80G 500gc without having to do anything.

    • +2

You probably got it because it was advertised $10 port in credit.

      • Do you think if I ask the staff at JB, will they be able to ask for you? Or do I have to ask before buying this plan?

        • +1

          Nah they can’t . I asked.

Just to be safe ask before going in and mention Jb hifi deal

  • Can i port from optus into my existing telstra account so that I can add to my shared data?

    • Jb deals don't qualify for shared data

  • Ah so belong can’t port ? Need to port to Vodafone or Optus then go to jb?

  • Might be off topic but how's poco F3 compare to x2 pro? Latter is on sale at jb $699 f3 at Amazon $480

Is it better to get the deal and pay extra $199 for the x2 pro, or get the f3 and keep my $19 per month sim only?

  • I was on an old $49 plan which has been out of contract for almost 2 years

A few months back they changed my plan to $65 and 80gb
I spoke in the chat and said I didn’t want to pay that so they gave me a credit of $10 bringing it down to $55 (not sure when that expires)

I need a new iPhone but don’t want to buy out right

Is there a way that I can sign up to this plan and add a phone that’s paid off monthly over 24 months

Or should I stay with what I’m in and go to Telstra and see if I can add a phone to pay off monthly ?

  • +1

Does anyone think this will be beaten on Black Friday? or is this the best we are getting?

  • +3

Just had a chat to the telstra bot and confirm i got the $10 port in credit p/m

  • Does switching and swapping effect your credit

    • If you do that often, it does like credit cards etc

  • Not for new numbers?

  • I am only able to see a 300AUD gift card when I click the link…. M I missing something ?

    • Website normally doesn't update, just the ad banner

  • +1

Got my port in credit immediately as well by just asking for it in the chat. Thanks for the reminder, easiest $120 ever saved!

    • So weird my service was activated immediately yet they can see it on their server so can’t apply the credit until then

  • I can't remember but does this Telstra/JB plan have VoLTE/VoWifi?

    • +1

      All Telstra plans have them.

  • Hey all, quick question, sorry if it sounds dumb. I want to get this plan with an iPhone as a Christmas present. Can I buy now and activate on Christmas?

    • Nope the offer ends 22nd.

Also why don’t u just get the plan with iPhone now?

      • Ummm, coz it's a present and if I port their number now, it will kinda give it away…

  • Does the giftcard have a expiery date?

  • -2

not very competitive if you need international calls.

    • +1

Are people honestly still using this type of service for Int’l calls? Use a free voip provider is your best bet in this day and age

      • any recommendations for the VoIP service provider? Free?

      • -1

Are people honestly still using this type of service for Int’l calls

        Yes all the time.
It's easier, you don't need a second account, special apps or anything else.

    • Just use your work landline or any voip service lol

  • I just signed up 2 phones to the deal. Ported out less than 30 days ago. They have no way to tell this. I signed up one phone on a 24mth $99 deal and got $1200 gift card. Think he said this deal was only available today. The other I got the $69 deal and a $500 gift card. Considering I get a credit from work also. Not a bad deal!

    • Just managed to get the $10 port in credit also for both services straight away. They just asked who advised I would be eligible and I just said Telstra said so haha

      • Good job, may fortune be ever in your favour 👍

  • How’s processing time at the moment in store?

    • Mine took 30mins roughly for 2 services. Was a breeze really

  • Also had success with Telstra chat and the $10 port in credit. Managed to get it with the first rep. Being polite increases your chances imo.

Out of curiosity, did anyone get any receipt confirmation with their gift card? Mine didn't came with any and worried I may have issues with customer service without a receipt if an issue arises with the GC.

    • +1

i got no gift card receipt when i signed up last year and just now in store - i know how you felt, the sense of insecurity not knowing if the GC was legit!

I used the last year GC few months ago online and the processing was fine.

    • +2

I wouldn’t be too worried they have to activate them then and there to give the sales rep the receipt to attach to their Telstra paperwork for tracking. You’ll be fine

    • I didn't but the rep has a copy

  • Can anyone confirm if they've had success with the $10 port in discount while transferring their existing Telstra number over?

@Pianoman1 seems to have just signed up for a new service at JB + GC, gone home and transferred old number over as well as $10 port in discount all from chatting with Telstra rep.

    • Yes can confirm - no issues which one you do first. I switched numbers first because that’s a priority for me.

  • +1

So I am pretty sure that last time I got a $2 sim from Vodafone, went to JB and used it to port in, applied for my $10 port in credit, and once it was active, moved my old Telstra number over to the new plan, anyone tried this way this time around?

    • The reps in store did say Telstra were cracking down on this and high probability it wouldn’t work. However they don’t work for Telstra so who knows 🤷‍♂️

      • I think they said that last time as well, I think I have done this a few times now, it's been a PITA each time but got there in the end. Easiest by far we as instore at Telstra though once I had the right person.

  • +1

oof! tough life! First telstra rep said no, I opened another 1, same lady! The lady just said "it is you again, is this for the $10 credit?" OUCH!

    • Damn. They are getting smart

    • Update: got the credit the third time.

    • update 3: funny thing, I chatted to the fourth rep to try to get esim, I didn't give my name to the bot, I just said need help with esim. The fourth rep who is a different person came on and said "Hello my name, I see you have concerns with port in credit." Damn man, I didn't even say my name or anything about port in credit. lol they must have talked.

      • +1

I think it is the chat history. Telstra agents can see all the histories if they want to.

  • Don’t recommend mt gravatt jb . Packed and understaffed

    • Good old Westfield, I was going to head there tomorrow for the deal

  • I just did this deal yesterday. Ported over from an old Circles.Life plan and got the iPhone 13 128gb for $849. Note in store only. I believe I was a previous telstra customer around 2010 but they didn't have my details on file (Probably in an older database).

I get $60 phone allowance per month from work so need to try the social engineering to get it down to $59

    • is that 849 in total for the phone or the outta pocket after deducting the $500 gc

      • +1

849 in total for the phone yes.

Work will pay $60pm for the plan for the next 12 months for me so if i don't even bother getting the 10 off it will only be $9 per month.

        • wow that's an awesome bargain to only pay $849 for iphone 13 before even applying on the $500 gc. Nice arrangement you have with your work

        • $849 … and a $500 gift card as well?

  • Managed to get the $10 port in credit applied. Is there a way to check it in your profile if it has been applied? I cant see it anywhere. Thanks

    • +2

You should get your new "Order Estimate" via email stating that the ongoing monthly payments will be $59/month

  • +1

thanks OP for sharing! successfully signed up today and got $500 gift card in store after activation. come home and got the $10 port in credit on the first web chat attempt. perfect!!

  • I don’t really care that it’s an in store deal - though I do have to question the logic (or lack of). Wouldn’t it be better to have a dedicated phone sales team like the last deals smash through it all ???

Instead we get this mess where there’s a constant influx of people wanting to sign up. And the staff stuff around with upsell attempts and cross sells extending out wait times. At least have a system like take phone numbers down to do call backs or even a ticket system like the deli. Instead we get this bs where people keep pushing in.

    • +4

As a (recent) ex JB employee, these deals are negotiated back of house days/weeks in advance but store level is only told the morning of, if lucky the afternoon before. So there is very little chance to roster correctly. I'd suggest next time don't go to one of the busiest telco stores in Brisbane, drive 10min down to road to the homemaker centre. Quieter stores would give better customer service as they aren't rushed to do 10 connects at once and would honestly love the opportunity to put your contract through.
Callbacks don't work, Garden City is massive. Imagine if you were standing there ready to go and they say 'hang on, I've got to call Joe, he's next. But Joe is currently eating lunch at McDonald's at the other end of GC, what happens then? You get to stand there and wait while Joe eats and then darts through the crowd? Staff do need to get better at understanding who is next but some of that is on the customer. When you are busy looking down trying to get personal information correct you don't have time to constantly look up to see which person is next. Customers are adults! and should work together to ensure everyone goes through in order.

      • Fair on the callbacks, maybe go deli ticket system then. Logical, and avoids confrontations. Called number gets called, if not there already, go next number.

Didn’t want to cause a scene with the older couple who pushed in, the husband which looked like he was already over it 30 years ago and was just over his missus with this sign up being just another nail in the coffin.

I tried to go to that other jb a few months ago to buy iPad Pro. Was already to commit , literally just needed someone to ring up the sale and get it out of cupboard. Could not find a single staff member who wanted to help. Most of them congregating at checkout area talking and the two I did find said they’d send someone down to help (no one came). So have since sworn just figured to just avoid that branch, maybe it’s relaxed… but maybe too relaxed there - Went to officeworks and walked in and out with iPad within 10 minutes.

  • Signed up plans with 4 other oz-bargainers at the same time.
Came home and got my 10 dollars credit Via online chat at first go.
    What a lovely day!

    • $10 credits for 6 months or 12 months?

      • 12

      • +1

We had the chat try the 6 months on for us and just said that the contract was for 12 months so the expectation is that the credit for be for 12 months. Funny enough they went away for 10 mins and came back and agreed to it. So seems they’ll try the 6 months on and see who will accept

  • +1

Thanks OP - went to JB in Bondi Junction today, ported over and got the $10 credit applied first go as soon as I got home.

I just mentioned that a representative told me that I could get $10 port in credit applied if I joined today and so I did.

  • Thanks for all the tips - did the lot successfully

    New phone number @ JB.
Transfer the old existing Telstra number into the new number sim (took the 2nd rep)
Got the port in credit (even though not a port in) first go lol

    • i should of done that, just get a new number, then contact telstra to transfer over even if my existing number is not with telstra im still waiting for it to be ported over.

  • Just confirming that you can't port in from boost?

    • +1

Unfortunately not - as stated in the T&C (within the screenshot)

      • Bummer but thanks

        • Is it possible to signup to a new number and then get the plan transferred to your old boost number? I was able to do it with an existing Telstra plan to keep my number but not sure about the Boost situation.

        • If you're coming up to expiry, imo just port out from Boost in the next couple of days. This deal will hopefully/should be back around Boxing Day.

Which is more than 30 days away so no stress!

  • Is this deal in store only or can you get it over the phone? Also does anyone know if you signed up to 2 plans whether it results in 2 credit checks or just 1?

    • In store only (unless headoffice gets enough complaints maybe)

  • Hmm this or wait for Black Friday…

    • Can't see it getting much better than this.

      • The only way is if they do it as $59 straight off the bat without the extra step of requesting via chat.

    • Wait for BF you will be pleasantly surprised :)

      • What do you know???

  • Gonna try this tomorrow - wish me luck

  • +1

Great deal, thanks op. JB Canberra Centre were very helpful and efficient. Asked the rep about the $10 port-in credit. He said people had been asking about it all day and had no idea where that idea had come from - I wonder! Got on the livechat once I got home and the first agent happily applied the credit.

  • -1

so what is the best deal we can get from JB hifi. $59 with 500 gc is the best? or is $49 with 500 gc can happen?

    • People seem to think that doesn't happen as they get $10 off with this deal

      • right. should try to get it this time.
