    • Did he scan them?

    Waste of time

At least 10 people in a row were denied the sale price on xbl cards for points and gold. Sure they grabbed new stock but how were they to know these werent discounted.

I only knew because I saw it on here before I got there.

  • +6

Neggers are being a bit pathetic. I made the effort this morning bright and early and picked up some great bargains. It was obvious that the online sale would fail. Just look at how many people have posted here, now think about the leachers who never post or contribute and that should explain the website fail.

    • +2

Depends on where you live. The local DS had 0 consoles, 0 keyboards, 0 cards, and a few games. Doesn't help when stock levels tell a different story.

      • Good point, 0 stock sucks but this is clearance and you could have checked stock availability yesterday.

    • +1

you seem to be one of the few.

im not upset that i didnt get anything - as im no worse of than i would have been without the sale. but im upset at how dicksmith handled the whole thing, thats why i negged and i assume why many others did too.

      • Yeah I get what you mean and I'm talking about people with attitudes like the guy below.

The staff at my DSE were pissed with the Facebook/twitter rep for posting all of the details publicly but not telling them at all. They said they thought he would get the sack as it was not done right at all. That said, bargains were there for those lucky enough to find stock.

    • -1

Some of us have lives and can't queue up with neckbeards and crater-faces from 4am just to watch staff members haul trolleys full of merch to their cars.

What "bargains" did you pick up exactly? Because you're the exception rather than the norm.

Seriously; you get a $5 dollar game and suddenly you want to defend corporate blood-sucking at it's finest?

      • lol you're raging at your keyboard right now huh?

I got a dozen games (6 PS3, 4 3DS and 2 360) and a 4gb slim with RWC for $160 and I showed up at 9.05am walked in, got what I wanted and headed off for a nice day out with family.

I have a few other friends who also got off of their lazy asses and had some bargains. You should try it instead of waiting on yours for bargains to come to you.

Thanks for posting the deal KKraig. You added a new shelf to my wall of shame.

  • +1

    Badly implemented. A debacle.

  • Got in about midday at nunawading store. Picked up that michael jackson game for $5 and Tintin Move Ed for $15. They had sports champion for $5 but I already have it. They had been picked clean though. Lots of empty shelves with $1 or $2 accessories. The cashier guy said it's an old stock clearance. Who knows.

  • I went to Cannington and Carousel branches in WA - about 10 mins before the Carousel branch opened up they let us know they had no consoles or accessories. Get to Cannington right as it opens and the same deal.

Sister went to Maddington - they had 2 DSi's and a couple of xboxes but was a mad rush so nobody got anyway.

Wife works in Armadale shopping centre and managed to walk away with one of their 3 xbox 360's and also 3 logitech g9x (one for me and the other two for friends). She was near the back of the line and when the branch opened everybody scrambled to the games area, she went straight to the counter and they had them sitting all there. The xbox is for my brother but at least we all managed to walk away with something (would have been happy with a DSi)

Fairly poor form through as I know most of the stores had multiple DSi's (Carousel for example 10+) and when checking on Saturday was told there would be none left for the public by a DSE employee.

  • +3

Negging because online sale starter earlier than advertised, site performance was woeful, and local stores that had stock COB yesterday did not have that same stock this morning (regardless of how it disappeared). I'm sure it was a great deal for some, especially those who bought up in big quantities, or were able to somehow reserve stock. Good luck to them, but for me personally, it wasn't a deal, so I'm negging it.

  • +4

In the George Street Sydney store there is a MASSIVE pile of games that people have taken to the counter thinking they were reduced, only to find when scanned they were not.

Screw you Hornsby store - waited patiently in line for 60 mins, only to have some Asian kids (yes you in the red jacket) push right to the front - shouldn't have bothered getting there early, should have just pushed in like these other cu**z - no queue management just opened the door and literally people ran in.

    • -1

      photo or it didn't happen.

  • +1

There was nothing at all this morning at the stores on the Gold Coast.

    • +1

Well thank God I didn't bother getting out of bed this morning for this.

  • +1

    The WORST sale ever!

    • I reckon.

  • +2

Just went to the Elizabeth St store in Brisbane CBD. They had a stack of older MS Point Cards (2010)& a few of the games from the original list. Went to get some MS Point Cards and they scanned up full price, the store said that they are not participating in today's Game sale but would be participating in another sale scheduled for the 11th……… They were pleasant enough and said they were sorry, they turned quite a few other people away too.

    • +1 - deserves a neg

      • agreed

        • ^

        • Me too.

  • eastgardens is 1 pathetic store and dse is hopeless to its best !

  • +5

    sigh All I wanted was a PSP 3000 :(

    • +5

      All I wanted was a gaming keyboard…

      • All i wanted was the DSLite Screen Protectors :)

        • All I wanted was a Dsi. I even bought games for it :(

    • I checked at about 10 stores one month ago for psp 3000 none then

  • +2

You know what's funny? I saw some moms getting in on the bargain too. Yeah, I'm sure she needs 5 god damn controllers or whatever she had. Anyway, she was carrying a tower load of stuff.

    • +9

Mums can be gamers too (especially bored, unemployed ones). They're quite often not skinny.

    • +2

Maybe she has 5 kids that are all at school?

    • +7

      Did the controllers vibrate :-)

  • +5

One of the most poorly organised sales I have seen so far.

  • +2

I went to 3 dick smith stores, including logan megacentre and garden city mt gravatt.. I ended up picking up Halo ODST for $5 and that was it. everything else was not discounted. but hats off the staff who were handing out inventory sheets so that people knew what to buy.

    • +2

Did the exact same thing. Logan Megacentre was horrible.

      • I went to Logan Megacentre around 9:30 and they had heaps of stuff discounted. Heaps of people were buying discounted items.

  • +1

Couldn't find any items on sale where I went.

  • +2

    What a Dick move!

  • +1

seems like a fail to me

  • +5

I feel sorry for the OP. He now has the most negged deal in the history of Ozbargain.

    • Put it this way, at least he got negged but it was not his fault. Even people who bought a $5 game are negging. You figure it out!!!

  • +1

    sale sucks .

  • +1

had exams, didn't miss out on anything.

  • +1

Saw an Xbox pack listed on the dse web site as haveing stock at Bowral. Gave them a call but was told that it was the one that was put away for the boss. Guess I can't blame them, but they could be a bit more discreet about it!

  • +5

Simply don't like the staff buying thing, and it's a shame for Dick Smith's marketing department for such a stupid way of sale. At least make some coupons(1 item per customer by showing it) and try to collect some registered customers and facebook fans.

  • +14

On a more pleasant note, Game of Thrones season 2 premier came out. Cya later

    • +1

He'll yea, you just made my day

    • oh yeah totally forgot, that snuck up fast!

  • +1

    Not a bargain

  • +1

crap! waste my time this morning just by queueing up to dick's store and nothing good on offer!

  • +16
    • Lol Ozbargain made it on there too :D

    • I bet Claire Connelly also missed out on the deal.

    • love the title "$7m scam" hahaha

  • +2

    Epic fail.

  • +2

Was at the Woden store this morning at 9am. Everything I wanted, and was listed on DSE site as in stock on Friday mysteriously wasn't there when the doors opened.

    • Seems to be the common theme here and I wondered why.

  • have we not learned from catch of the day at all??

    • +2

Yes, but everyone is already aware of their dodginess, and knows its a gamble with them when buying. Different for the previously reputable Dick Smith…

  • Sale was pretty good at Golden Grove Adelaide. Nabbed borderlands goty, star wars Lego, amongst other games. according to dse staff places like Marion still had some of the more popular games at around 11am. Ingle farm had been cleaned out but got Tony hawk ride for 5 (still had the 148 tag on it) and Res evil 5 gold edition.
Which 360 console was 100? read it was the 4gb, so passed up a 250gb without checking the price, now thinking was bad idea.

  • anyone had any luck at stores in WA?

was planning to go to the local dicksmith store to see if i can get my hands on a g27 steering wheel

….actually after reading. does any dicksmith staff willing to part with a g27 steering wheel for the advertise $139?

    • +1

DSE Bunbury. ~50 people lined up at opening. Civil crowd, no running or pushing in. I was out-strategised by the people who knew where to look so I went home empty. A handful of lucky people got the rare 360s, ps3s and Logitechs somehow, but I was outgunned by mothers for the 2 or 3 DSi's they had in store. No PSPs either.

    • Hey I can't give you a 100% confirmation but I believe there was a bunch of g27's at the phoenix store, didn
t see anyone buying them. Also didn't check the price so maybe give them a ring fist.

    • There were 5 G19's, 1 PS3, 1 Xbox 360, about 5 DSi's at the Freo store, too bad the G19's weren't in the keyboard section they were in an obscure clearance stand or I would have one :(.
Even the guy at the front of the line missed out because he headed to the keyboard section, then buy the time he got to the games section there was nothing left.

There was only 1 copy of each game.. I left at 9:08 and the only games left were crap like Singstar.

The G27's were all labeled at $499, some people that work there said they were $139 yesterday.

  • +1

Went to Dick Smith in Chatswood, literally have nothing. Saw a DJ Hero 2 bundle for 40 bucks…but apparently according to EB Games its retail price is 40 bucks.

  • +1

Watching people walk up to the counter with Xbox live point cards, only to be told they don't count in the sale.
Good bye dick smith, least the staff got a bargain before dick smith closes.

  • +2

All the items I had selected from the list were either gone or scanned at full price, and I drove around 4 different stores. Fail.

  • +1

Only thing I picked up was Eyepet + camera for $5

  • +1

    Crap

  • +1

Yo guys know what, DICK DOES DEALS.

  • +2

i found this article about a dirty tactic that DS uses

    http://www.news.com.au/technology/dick-smith-busted-outrage-…

I wont be surprised if any of the clearance are of that..

  • +1

Heard about this when it was leaked, forgot about it. It sounded too good to be true. And if it was true (which it kind of is), then good luck to actually getting something.

Negative vote for DS being owned by Woolworths.

  • +1

    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/darch/consoles/ps3-320-gb-bra…

Has 2 identical listings up back to back. Unopened, brand new, sealed box. Listing posted yday.
    Oh really??!!!

On topic, I was hoping to grab a few accessories - wasnt even HOPING to get a console - kinda frustrating to hear stories of ppl emptying bargains into trolleys, and staff filling up their cars!
Good job to the few helpful staff around actually helping ppl.

  • massive fail

  • +1

Worst sale ever… i looked in the store, no keyboards and mouse etc.. (not going to complain there… because small store and it is coffs harbour) but what pissed me off was there was only 1 xbox, 1 ps3 and a few dsi…
what makes matters even worse is, the staff are most likely holding.. reason i say this is because,, i asked for a couple things and heard from a couple questions answered.. all the same response " umm probably some lying around somewhere, but there is some stock in central coast.. if u call them they might be able to hold it and send it to you for a small cost" *moves to next customer…..

  • This sale is just sad, there are better things to do that wasting a few hour, could have actually made money faster than buy NON existence items.

  • +1

    dick smith suck

  • Worst deal, went to Greensborough, nothing on sale at all

  • +1

Went down to my local just after some cheap pc games. There was 'horseracing' and that was it, however there were two logitech g27's still there - were marked as $189 (thought they were $139?).

But very poor, nothing was actually on sale, was just a box of 'clearance games' with a bunch of shit titles that they'd have to pay me to take.

  • +3

Most negged yet postive(d) post on Ozbargain, ever?

    • +2

Most likely. When a deal has more negative votes than positive votes, the deal will be removed/unaccessible.

This post can sustain the large number of negative votes because it has enough positive votes to keep it alive. But, at this rate, it is likely the negative votes will exceed the positive ones.

Feel sorry for the OP though, he did nothing wrong.

      • +2

I wouldn't feel sorry unless you negged him/her personally? OP knows we are all very grateful for bringing this sale to our attention and the negs are mainly geared to the poor management of this "sale" including the fact that all good stock was already pilfered by staff before the public even had a chance. That's what all the negs, whining and disdain are all about :)

Besides OP has broken so many ozbargain records :D

  • +6

I feel sorry for KKraig. He didn't deserve all these negs! DSE does!

  • Poorly executed bargain……

  • +1

what a bunch of fail this turned out to be

  • +1

Went to Eastland in Victoria about 10 this morning. There was nothing on sale that I could see, however I did notice a guy came from the back staff only room with a few things and stood in the queue, smiling at the sales guys. He seemed to have a few bargains, looked like A DSI and an XBOX controller or something.

    • Awww that's about right. I was there about an hour afterwards. The staff looked really smug and wouldn't answer my questions about what stock they have of what.
Edit: Plus there was nothing worthwhile there.

  • +1

I was at the Glen Waverley DSE yesterday at closing time and made note of the 3x Logitech G19 keyboards they had. I was the first into the keyboard section this morning when the store opened and surprise, surprise - all gone. Utter rubbish.

    • most of the keyboards behind the counter. I managed to see one and forced the rep to sell it to me

    • +2

Youre supposed to hide them behind other keyboards

  • +1

Dick, you've done it again !
