NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card: 60,000 Bonus Velocity Points with $1,000 Spend in 60 Days, $95 Annual Fee @ NAB

3390

I was browsing NAB website and noticed this popular deal now available directly through NAB.

The 120K points were awarded to me very quickly (approx ~5 days after spend criteria was met) and I ended up using it to redeem $650 worth of gift cards (before it auto redeemed into velocity points)

Terms & Conditions:
NAB Rewards Platinum Card — 70k Velocity auto redemption offer
Offer commenced on 6 June 2023 and ends 5 September 2023. To be eligible for the up to 70,000 Velocity bonus Points offer (automatically redeemed from 140,000 NAB Rewards Bonus Points), you must be a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, apply for a new personal NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card before the offer is withdrawn, have your application approved, provide your Velocity membership number to NAB to enrol in Auto Redemption, spend $1,000 on everyday purchases using your new card within 60 days of opening account and keep you card for over 12 months. You’ll receive an email from NAB after your application has been approved with information on how to provide your Velocity membership number to NAB. Redemption of Velocity Points and the Velocity membership is subject to the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions.

Points will be awarded on a tiered basis – You will be eligible to receive 120,000 NAB Rewards Bonus Points when you spend $1,000 on everyday purchases in the first 60 days of opening your account (credited to your NAB Rewards points balance within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria, and will be automatically redeemed for 60,000 Velocity Points within 10 days thereafter and 20,000 NAB Rewards Bonus Points after you have had your card for over 12 months (credited to your NAB Rewards points balance within the 13th month and will be automatically redeemed for 10,000 Velocity Points within 10 days thereafter). Your NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card must remain open and in good standing, and you must be enrolled in Auto Redemption to receive the Velocity Points.

This offer is not available to existing NAB Rewards Signature or NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card customers or customers who have had a NAB Rewards Signature or NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card within 18 months prior to applying for a new NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card. @hohoisme: I don't remember when I actually linked my card. But in the cards sections of the NAB app, it should have a section where it says redeem points and I clicked through there.

If you cant see it you might have to wait for your physical card.

              • @TechNerd: Well I can't see the "redeem points" option in "Cards" so probably need to wait for physical card…

                • +1

@hohoisme: No you don't need the physical card. Click cards in the app and select the card then you should see it. I have added my card to google wallet as well so that might be required first.

                  • @BrunoBear: Just added the card to google pay but still didn't see the redeem points option. It actually shows "Thank you for signing up to NAB Rewards. Your NAB Rewards points will be available within the next few days." However I never provided VFF number at all during application…

  • Is BPAYing bills (utilities, phone, etc..) considered spending towards the $1000?

    • No, unless you do it through a payment processor like sniip

      • damnit, how come (I did this for a bill to avoid a credit card fee on an electricity bill) and how do you tell what counts towards the $1000 or not? it just shows up as a transaction on the credit card

  • Anyone know if council rates are excluded?

    • Or if paying land tax is excluded?

  • will buying 10x100 TCN CARD from woolsworth count as $1000 spent?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Yes - I purchased Ultimate Gift cards with mine from Coles (which were discounted by 10%)

      • What about buying apple gift cards from woolies/coles etc? does that count towards spend?

        • Yes any gift card you purchase from woolies and Coles should count towards spend.

There is also 20x flybuys points on Apple gift cards at Coles tomorrow https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/823218

          • @TechNerd: Thanks! Do I need to have VFF to get the 120K points? I only want to use NAB rewards points and have no need for VFF points.

            • @ionisedsalt21: Some people have mentioned that they didn’t enter any VFF number in the NAB rewards site and still got the 120K points. I didn’t want to take the risk so ended up signing up to VFF and entering the number on the NAB rewards site

              • @TechNerd: I had this card earlier this year and got this offer. I used the 120K points to redeem them for gift cards. The 120K is added to your account first - and then a number of days later it converts to VFF points if you have entered your VFF number. Therefore I suspect you don't necessarily need to have VFF to get them.

                • @JohnSy: I hope I can get away with not adding VFF and still get the NAB Reward points, my concerns are that they may have changed wording or their policy to enforce the requirement of adding VFF in order to get the points.

  • how soon after approved do you get the email to link velocity flyers?

    • I didn’t wait for the email, I just went into the NAB rewards store and provided my number for auto redemption. I believe the email tells you to do the same thing.

Instructions on how to do this here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13951355/redir

      • thanks, not the easiest process but found it

      • Have you received the email yet? Got approved on the 29th but haven't received an email about VFF so wondering if it's still valid

        • Once you’ve received the card, you can just link the VFF number in the rewards store through the NAB app. Follow instructions below (this works even you haven’t received an email)

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784275#comment-13951355

          • @TechNerd: I tried this but got an error so I called up and they said they didn't have my details yet (applied last Wednesday and approved on Friday). Said it could take up to 2 weeks to be able to enter my vff number…

            • @JMosk: Same story here. I just don't know if i will receive 120k NAB points without linking VFF because I rather redeem for gift cards.

              • @hohoisme: have you tried? i am in the same boat

              • @hohoisme: Logged in again today and was able to enter my vff via the app.
                Yet to receive bonus points

  • +2

Does it mention the bonus points in your credit card offer email once it's approved? Mine also didnt mention anything about providing velocity points..

    • +1

Same here. Did not see anywhere mentioning about the VFF points.

Did you get any update on this?

      • +1

Contacted NAB and got told as long as i provided my VFF No. its considered opted in. Fingers crossed the points will show up after I spend $1000

        • Are they referring to supplying the VFF within internet banking/the app or was there a step I missed on sign up?

        • When and how did you provide your VFF number?

  • In the last page before submitting application the annual fee reverts to $195. In all the previous pages in shows $95
If they charge this amount, I guess I'll have to get $100 (or hopefully more) refunded once i complain.

  • Looks like I missed a great deal. I found this only after submitting my application for the NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card with 80,000 NAB Rewards bonus points

    https://www.nab.com.au/personal/credit-cards/nab-rewards-car…

By calling them, can I get my approved application's reward changed to 60,000 Velocity Points instead?

      Do you think:
      • 60k NAB points is better than 120k NAB points ?
      ( • 30k Velocity points is better than 60k Velocity points? )

      • +1

It's the otherway round. I applied for 60k NAB points offer instead of the current 120k points deal.

        • Ah,…sorry to insinuate that.
The way I read it, made me jump to that conclusion.

          On a separate occasion today,
my colleague said the same thing to me (about the same offer you signed up for),
until I had to point out to him that NAB points were different to Velocity points.

    • Did you ever get this sorted or just have to re-apply?

      • A friendly customer care representative helped raise a customer case with NAB Resolve and it took a while to get the offer changed for the existing credit card.
Product transfer was not required as it is the NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card under both offers.

        • Ah so basically you have to hit the requirement and they'll give the right offer manually?

  • Good deal for a low fee. This deal currently offers relatively better points (90k velocity, $225 annual fee), though at a higher minimum spend of $3,000.

  • Can you pay your council rates with these NAB reward cards and count towards your spend??

  • While waiting for the physical arrived, confirm able to start using / spending the credit card added to Google pay.

  • Ok. So it does include insurance.. anyone know what the eligibility is for travel insurance? Eg. Book flights, accommodation, etc with card

  • What gift card are you buying for $650? Checking https://store-rewards.nab.com.au/en-AU/items/category/CAT_NA…
121K is roughly converting to $600 wws/coles gift card
If applying "NAB Rewards Signature Card with Velocity", 160K bonus looks even more attractive (even minus $100 annual fee difference)

    • +1

I purchased Ultimate Home Gift cards and at the the time I redeemed the gift cards there was a 10% off sale for all ultimate physical gift cards. $650 was just under 120K points.

I think that sale has finished, so as you said, now it is currently worth around $600. Note if you decide to purchase physical gift cards, they take a long time to be shipped. I ordered mid June and am still waiting for mine to be shipped. You might be better off just purchasing eGift Cards instead.

Thanks Op, but I think we need ways to make these deals more clear. I see mentioned- 70k bonus, 60k bonus, 120k bonus

Am I correct > you get 120k NAB points (which converts to 60k Velocity points)?

Then you get 10k Velocity points for staying for 1 year?

    • Yes…this is explained under the terms and conditions I pasted into the post

The name of the cardholder must match the name on the Velocity membership number. Offer limited to one total allocation of 140,000 NAB Rewards Bonus Points per Velocity account.

Any reason I should go for this deal instead of sticking with Qantas points program and going for this deal?

    $150 fee
    90,000 bonus points (70,000 + 20,000 promotion) with $2,000 spend over 60 days.

    https://www.nab.com.au/personal/credit-cards/offers/qantas-p…

    • +1

      I got approved for both

      • At the same time?

        • +1

Yes within a week of each other

          • @BrunoBear: Cool. Thanks @BrunoBear.

Think I'm going to go for QFF first as it seems slightly better value, then go for this VFF one once that's approved.

Are QFF and VFF points similarly valued?

            • +1

              @jamin:

Are QFF and VFF points similarly valued?

Yeah they're both about 1c/pt if you were to sell them

              • @BrunoBear: how do you sell them?

                • +1

@Pecco: On the classifieds section, plenty of people wanting to buy.

    • +1

What's the 20k promotion? Can't see it mentioned on that page.

      • +1

NAB provides 70K, qantas is running a promotion with the additional 20K. See link below:

        https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/member-offers/ne…

      • It's 120k NAB points for meeting the eligibility requirements wihin 60 days,
and then, if you keep your card more than 12 months,
you get the extra 20k NAB points in the 13th month.

The NAB points can then be converted into Velocity points,
and/or gift cards in the NAB portal.

All details and application can be found here
        —> https://www.nab.com.au/personal/credit-cards/offers/velocity…

        • When do you actually provide your velocity number? I got approved, but so far haven't been asked.

          • @dinglejerry: If it doesn't ask you during the application process,
you can still add the membership number in your 'Rewards' account.

            • +1

@whyisave: Yeah I just added it in the auto redemption option. I assume that's it. Thanks

  • +1

Anyone able to access NAB Rewards? It's been days since I've had the card approved and on my apple pay (I just received the physical card today too). However still getting "Your NAB Rewards points will be available within the next few days" when trying to access the rewards shop.

I don't want to start spending on it till I get my VFF no. in. Or maybe I need to have a few transactions first?

    • Im on the same boat, i never provide VFF number and it shows the same thing…

    • Same situation for me.

    • Well I just called NAB loyalty rewards team, the lady told me that she cannot see my card information in their system and asked me to wait for 1-2 weeks. Apparently according to her words, it takes 1-2 weeks to activate the card and update customer's information in their system, then they will be able to help to link VFF number.

      • Not what i was told…. I was able to link VFF online and confirm its linked over the phone on the same day the card was approved

        • It's weird. Looks like some people like us came across different messages "Your NAB Rewards points will be available within the next few days" in the "Cards" section where we are unable to link VFF at all or even go to rewards store.

Now I am a little scared if I will get the promised points as I have already spent some money…

          • @hohoisme: I have spent too.. no points showing yet but the girl on the phone confirmed VFF was successfully linked and id get the points after spending $1000 within 60 days. Fingers crossed we will get the points

            • @coloururwings: Can I ask when did you link VFF? Was it during application process or after the card was approved?

              • @hohoisme: Linked VFF on internet banking straight after the card was approved

    • same situation here aswell, although they said i dont need to link anything and will get 120,000 points upon spending $1000. has been 4 days since i received my card and activated.
Still getting "Your NAB Rewards points will be available within the next few days"

    • Activated physical card 2 days ago. Managed to access NAB Rewards and link Velocity account today.

Made a couple of transactions with Google pay before physical card arrived. Hopefully with get points for those transactions as now showing zero point balance.

      • Update: Points appeared now. No waiting for the bonus points.

        • Did you receive the bonus points?

          • +1

            @hohoisme: Typo correction:

Update: Points appeared now. "Now" waiting for the bonus points.

    • Got approved 8 days ago and my NAB rewards now just became available to click under the card

    • Did you have to activate your card before you could add it to Apple Pay?

I can't activate mine until I've gotten the physical card, but it seems like I can't add it to Apple Pay until it's activated.

My NAB app says 'You have no cards eligible for Apple Pay'

  • What happens if you don't enter a VFF number? Do you still get the 120k points?

    • Someone said you can call NAB to link your VFF number to your account.

    • +1

I was told by the support team saying if I don't enter VFF, then I will still get 120k, let's see.

      • That's good news for people like me who don't really need VFF points…

  • Has anyone had an issue with NAB application after being declined by Virgin money? No issues with credit score and haven't used NAB issued credit cards in a while

  • Has anyone been declined on this card yet?

    Applied Monday, still no response.

    • Were you asked for any documents? I had to provide some, then a few days later was asked for more and was assigned someone to look after my application. Then took a few more days to get approved.

It actually took far too long for a credit card with a paltry 6k limit, was pretty annoyed at all the stuff they were asking for.

      • It automatically says to provide documentation when conditionally approved, so thats what i did.
They assigned me a case manager as of yesterday, just waiting….

        • Yeah they will try to call you, then send an immediate email follow-up with what they need. Hopefully not too much longer!
