Welcome to the ultimate guide of Apple iCloud subscriptions

IMPORTANT

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

Every transfer done is at your own risk and the instructions in this deal may be outdated and may not work for you.

As per literally every guide I've completed, I've spent a chunk of money out of generosity to test the current validity of the following method as well as annotating screenshots throughout the sign-up process (see screenshots in the instructions section). Given the invention of the Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil, we now have a new set of instructions for those who wish to sign up that way, in addition to the regular Turkey Apple Gift Card method.

Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Note: No VPN needed for this deal. Requires Appe Türkiye ID!

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Spotify, Xbox Game Passes, Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

As always, credits to Pricebeat for all the Apple ID related knowledge I've gained from their past posts. See any problems and fixes in the previous thread if you need to.

Enjoy :)

Instructions

This guide looks extensive (because I try my best to explain it simply for beginners) however if you've done this before and already have a Turkey Apple ID then it shouldn't take you more than a few mins as you can skip most of these instructions.

Part 1 – Türkiye Apple ID

If you already have a Türkiye Apple ID, decide whether you want to pay with Apple Gift Cards or your Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil. If paying using Gift Cards, proceed to Part 2. If paying with your Virtual Turkish Mastercard, complete Part 1 Step 2 below, then proceed to Part 3.

If you DO NOT have a Türkiye Apple ID, follow these steps below:

  1. Create a Türkiye Apple ID by going to: https://appleid.apple.com/account. Follow the on-screen steps (help point: see this screenshot). In the mobile number section, use your Australian mobile number (very important to use a valid mobile number or you risk losing your Türkiye Apple ID). Choose the country as "Türkiye". Then follow through the rest of the prompts to create your Türkiye Apple ID.

  2. While still logged in to your new Türkiye Apple ID, go to the Apple Payment Method link and add a Türkiye address (you can get a random Türkiye address here) to your Türkiye Apple ID. For the phone number, enter 61 (area code) and your Australian mobile number. For the payment method, select "none" if you want to top up your Apple ID with Apple Gift Cards, OR select "Credit or Debit Card" if you would like to use your Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil and enter the details in. Click "Save" to save your payment method.

If you selected "none" as your payment method, then you'll be paying with Apple Gift Cards. Proceed to Part 2

If you selected "Credit or Debit Card" as your payment method, then you'll be paying with your Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil. Proceed to Part 3.

Part 2 – Loading your Türkiye Apple ID with Türkiye Apple Gift Cards (if you need to)

  1. Buy Turkish Lira (₺) iTunes gift cards from TurGame (comes with denominations from ₺25 TL up to ₺1000 TL). Choose the currency as TL/TRY See how and pay with a debit/credit card (use a card that has no international transaction fees to avoid any extra costs). All transaction processors will have a small "Payment Partner Fee" attached - at checkout, choose the one that gives you the smallest fee.

How long will my gift card take to arrive? Turgame processes gift cards in their local timezone. If you're purchasing in the daytime, expect a long wait. If you're purchasing at 6pm onwards, expect a fast delivery

  2. Open the "Settings" app on your Apple device. At the top, click on [Your Name], then "Media and Purchases", then "Sign Out". Login with your Türkiye Apple ID.

  3. Redeem your Türkiye Apple gift cards by opening the "App Store" app, then click your account initials (located at right top corner). Click "Redeem Gift Card or Code" and redeem all your gift cards.

Part 3 – Subscribing to iCloud+ (use either Windows / iPhone or iPad / Mac)

  • If you already have an existing Türkiye Apple ID and would like to pay using your Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil, please complete Part 1, Step 2 before commencing Part 3 below (if you haven't done so already).

via PC/Windows (estimated <5 mins)

  1. Open the iCloud application. If you don't have it, download it here: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT204283

  2. Log in with your Türkiye Apple ID.

  3. Press "Storage", then "Add Storage".

  4. Select the plan you want, then press "Next".

  5. Enter your Türkiye Apple ID password to confirm, then press "Buy".

If your Türkiye Apple ID is topped up with an Apple ID Balance, then this screen will show and your purchase is complete! Enjoy!

For those who would like to use your Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil, the payment screen will redirect you to Step 6 below.

  6. Press "Payment Info". Everything will be prefilled, except your OlduBil Mastercard CVV. Enter that in and press "done". Your purchase is complete! Enjoy!

via iPhone or iPad (estimated <5 mins)

  1. Open the "Settings" app and then tap [your name]. Scroll down and sign out of both iCloud and Media and Purchases and sign in with your Türkiye Apple ID.

  2. Tap "iCloud", scroll down and tap "Upgrade to iCloud+". If this doesn't show, tap "Manage Account Storage" or "Manage Storage".

  3. Choose a plan and tap "Upgrade to iCloud+". Follow the onscreen instructions.

If your Türkiye Apple ID is topped up with an Apple ID Balance, then your purchase is complete! Enjoy!

For those who would like to use your Virtual Turkish Mastercard via OlduBil, the payment screen will show and just proceed with the prompts (if not, then your purchase is complete! Enjoy!)

  4. Open the "Settings" app and then tap [your name]. Scroll down and sign out of both iCloud and Media and Purchases and sign in with your Australian Apple ID. Everything will be normal again.

via Mac (estimated <5 mins)

  1. See here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201318 (sorry I don't have a Mac to test this but I'd assume it'd be very similar to above).

Part 4 – Family Sharing (optional)

  1. Open the "Settings" app and then tap [your name].

  2. Tap "iCloud".

  3. Scroll down and tap "Share with Family".

  4. Tap "Invite Family Members" and follow the prompts. Invite your Australian Apple accounts and accept it on their end.

Subscription has stopped working and can't resubscribe. "Your payment method was declined" using OlduBil. Any suggestions?

    • Used Turgame gift cards as a workaround for now. OlduBil would be better though (saves time in not having to purchase gift cards).

Thanks for the great efforts! Do we have any update for the current method. Is this still working?

  • Does this work with Apple Music as well?

    • Yes

      • Am able to share iCloud storage but the Apple Music option doesn’t come up on the existing Australian accounts are part of family sharing and already have access to iCloud access

The Apple ID on the Turkish account shows Apple sharing

But not no active subscription on the Australian accounts

I tried logging out and logging back in still no help.

        What am I missing ???

        • You can't share Apple Music with non turkey family

    • Does it work with buying individual songs through iTunes?

  • On a separate note, any hacks or deals on Google one storage? Looking to upgrade current 200GB on Australian account to a TB plan.

  • i have apple gift card credit on my account, would that zero out if i switch to turkey apple id?

    • I wouldn't be doing this deal now - it's from august 2023. I signed up at the time and have had icloud via turkey since then. But I've finally exhausted my balance with oldubil and go back to the australian store. All my apps I'd previously purchased via the australian store don't appear under family sharing. I do get 2tb of family sharing via icloud though.

With the changes with oldubil, I'm moving from Turkey. (Spotify to egypt, netflix ?phillipines, and icloud back to Australia)

      • great tip, thanks mate :)

      • any reason why you couldn't continue with icloud with gift cards via Turgame?

  • Can a Turkish account join an existing AU family and share the Turkish iCloud sub?

  • If i already have an icloud subscription with my australian account, would you do this on your turkish account first, then invite family members (Australian account), then cancel the australian subscription?

  • @I Smell Pennies mate I was trying to inbox you to ask something private. I can’t cause it says “user overseas”. Not sure what’s going on as I got this the first time. Could you please check if you can message me?

Btw I’m a big fan of yours. You have helped me numerous times on my other posts.

  • I am getting the below error message when trying to create a Turkish apple id. Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Your request could not be completed at this time.
Your account cannot be created at this time.

    • Yes I just had the same error come up

      • I even tried using vpn but still same error. Anyone know a workaround?

        • Just keep trying. I researched and tried iTunes, different browsers with cleared cache, VPNs etc. a few days back with no luck. Randomly just tried again tonight from my standard-use Chrome browser (didn't clear cache/history) because the tabs were open and got in first go. Other reports have suggested similar results.

  • Just wondering 2TB price is 12999 TL-648$ is that right?

  • 129.99 so about $7 a month not $648 lol

I’ve managed to create a turkish apple account and subscribed to iCloud+ 2tb.

Next step as per the guide is to add the aus email addresses as family. I have also managed to do that but the aus email that I added is subscribed to 50gb/month already. After adding my aus email from the TRY account via family, my Aus account is still only showing as 50gb? It has definitely been added as family, but only showing 50gb? Have I done something wrong? Was I suppose to add the TRY account as family from my Aus account?

  • My iCloud’s+ account today was canceled. When I tried to reactivate it is showing me Australian currency. I have tried to use VpPN as well but still showing Australian currency. My apple account and store is still turkey. Anyone else having same issue.

    • Had a similar issue this morning. My iCloud storage on the Australian accounts showed the standard 5GB and when I tried to remove and re-add the Turkish account to my family I got the error message that family member accounts need to be in the same country. I've given up my hopes that my Turkish store credit will be of any use now.

I have fixed my issue. It was related to Turkish udibil card. Card was denying payment. Luckily for me I could buy apple iTunes gift cards within the udibil system, once I change the payment method to gift cards it went through fine and family share is working fine

      • +2

Fixed as well luckily, I managed to invite the Turkish account only via email to the Oz family which worked (iCloud+ is working correctly now as well). Every other sharing option ("in person", message etc.) or the other way around (invite the Oz family to the Turkish account) did not work and showed the issue that family members have to be in the same country. Hope it helps someone.

        • This helped me too, as i was stuck with country/ region error. Thanks, inviting the TRY account the family sharing from the aus account did help. Then turned on storage sharing from TRY account.
Once shared, go to your AUS account -> family -> start using family storage. It doesn’t turn on automatically.

          • @Dave1988: Did you have to disable the family purchase sharing (app sharing) on your AU organiser account? I had to disable it otherwise it would change my Turkish account’s country to AU for the payment which will prevent me from using TRY Apple gift cards.

            • @wjb: No keep family sharing on Au account on, and invite your TRY account to family sharing. Once joined by TRY account. Enable storage sharing with family. Then go to your Au account’s family section and look for share subscription. You will see iCloud+ there shared from TRY account and sign up.

  • Thanks for the detailed write up. Followed the instruction and completed the set up including family sharing in 10 mins. GC arrived almost instantly as well. Many thanks!

  • How do I check my iCloud account for remaining balance? I think I am due to top up. How would you go about topping up with gift card?

    Any help appreciated!

  • Wait so are you suppose to invite the Australian account to the Turkish account with iCloud+ or vice versa?

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything.

what can i use it for ? :( Oldubil worked 'til october, and now i dont know what I can do with the remaining 300 something…

tried to purcharse the turkish giftcard on turgame using the oldubill funds, but failed!

maybe this has been answered, but whoever already has an AU apple id associated with a Family, just invite the new TR apple id as family member then the storage can be shared.

cannot upvote anymore but much appreciate OP for sharing! I just managed to do this and works flawlessly.

Has anyone found a way to get around the payment verification required issue? I saw a few posts about it earlier on, but no answers as to whether they got resolved.

I've successfully created the new Apple ID, purchased the gift card and redeemed it, but I cannot for the life of me use it to purchase the subscription or anything else for that matter. Every time, it requests that I enter a credit card or Turkish phone number. Tried it via my phone, an iPad and iCloud on the PC.

    • +1

I'm having the same issue, "Verification Required. Before you can make purchases, you must tap Continue to verify your payment information." And then need to input a Turkish CC, even though I have a Turkish gift card balance that I pulled into the apple store per the above instructions…

      • Oddly enough, I went to try it again yesterday via iCloud on Windows Desktop (same as previous attempts) and it went through…

  • it looks like i better stay with my australian account. its not that i cannot afford a few more dollors each month. the method in the op did work for me for 2 months :(

  • Anyone still using this workaround? I tried using oldubil but no success as you can't pay with CC anymore, so just bought a small gift card from TURGAME and waiting for it to arrive.

Can the family organiser be an AU apple ID, and invite the TRY account as a member, then the TRY member share the storage?

    • Just to update this, I got my TRY25$ turgame key within an hour or so.

I kept my AU apple ID as the family organizer, then invited my TRY Apple ID on a different device (using imessage), to join the AU ID as an "Adult".
I then made sure there was no icloud+ subscription sharing from AU ID (i never had one, so easy), and then on the TRY ID I went to subscriptions, icloud+, share with family, and the 50GB now flowed through to the AU ID etc, so the AU ID can remain the family organizer.

      Thanks OP!

  • So I have this Turkey account setup and invited 2 other members without an issue, when trying to invite the 4th person - it says "Country/Region does not match". I have followed all the instructions/troubleshooting as suggested by others above on the thread but nothing seems to be working. Any tips on how can I fix this?

    • +1

From Reddit (and it worked for me about 6 months ago!) - "There’s also a tricky way of allowing them to join your family sharing group even if your accounts are based in different countries. It requires seeing them in person, but if you get a chance, send the family sharing invite via Airdrop (and Airdrop only). For some reason that works"

      • thank you, unfortunately that option is not suitable as it is for a fellow OzBargainer :)

  • I have Purchase Sharing enabled for all our AU accounts, as well as the TR account. The TR account is the Family Organiser. But it seems that purchases are still not being shared. Does the Family Organiser need to be in the same country for purchase sharing to work?

    • +1

You should use your AU organiser and invite the TR account, then enable iCloud sharing through the TR account. Others have no problems with app/purchase sharing among AU accounts (not sure about the TR account, but the TR account should be solely used for iCloud subscription).

As for me, I had to disable app/purchase sharing in my AU organiser or else it would alter my TR account's country, stopping me from subscribing to TR iCloud. I will try to enable the purchase sharing again after all the gift card credit in my TR account runs out.

  • Thanks, just posting to say this still works. Just setup a new icloud account but it ended up being in AUS, so i just logged in and changed it to Turkey. Then followed all steps, still works well. Note that using iCloud on windows didn't work to join the family. What worked for me was using a spare device and joining via airdropping the link to it from my phone. So added the new Turkey iCloud account to my family and then shared the turkey subscription with myself.

One other thing was when purchasing the voucher from turgame.com i had to upload ID, send a selfie and proof of payment to them. Wasn't too comfortable with this. The ID i used was an old drivers which i edited to remove my middle name, drivers number and andy dates, this was approved by them and got my iTunes voucher codes :)

    • @IMA-Cheapskate so you didn't get "Country or Region Does Not Match" error when joining your AU account? I am having a lot of trouble with this and not able to change the region of AU account to TR without valid TR card.

  • Just posting this information for others, in case you come across the same issue.
I created a Turkish iTunes a/c last year and bought itunes vouchers with my spare/remaining money at Oldubil (~800TRL)
I signed up for icloud (200gb) storage, thinking i would be set for a year or 2 (20mths to be exact)
I was able to use the extra data for about 3 months, and now it seems Apple have inactivated my Turkish account (not sure why)
I will have to go through support to try to get it activated again.
Not sure I can be bothered now.
    Might try a different country.

  • When sharing to my Australian account I get a country / region doesn't match error. When trying to change my appstore to Turkey I need payment details. Have tried to sign up to Oldubil but need a Turkish phone number. Any workaround?

  • I am really confused with how the Turkish currency is displayed as a balance in my Apple account. My current balance is ₺1.010,17 - what does this mean? Is that 1k of Turkish Lira?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Still work however to invite the Turkish account to the family you have to use iMessage
