IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023: RE Method 2

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to continue with Method 2. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • For those who do not have funds in OlduBil and wish to utilise Method 2, I'm afraid this is no longer possible at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

Background:

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Xbox Game Passes, Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up. The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day.

Due to a price increase by Spotify worldwide, my previous guide has expired. But no worries, this guide is now better than ever, and combines the two methods together (Google Pay for those who want to use Australian Cards, or Virtual Türkiye Mastercard for those who can't do the Google Pay method) as well as providing more information on extra plans and family systems. There will be some screenshots throughout the sign-up process for OlduBil(see screenshots in the instructions section) from previous testing - and yes, I can confirm the validity of these methods because I don't spend money for nothing. Most important thing - Türkiye is still very cheap!

Thank you so much for all your support and previous comments (I love reading them)! Any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Instructions – Method #1 via Google Pay (Android Required) – If you want to use your Australian debit/credit card

Note: If you currently subscribe to Google One or any other Google services via Türkiye, then you may already have a Türkiye payment profile in your Google account. If this is the case, you may not need to do Part 1 at all (go straight to Part 2).

If you have an existing Google account and don't want to create a new Google account, simply add a new Türkiye payment profile into your Google account (not ideal for Google accounts where the sole user is an Android user or the family system consists of Android users - see why in the notes section of this post. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile (If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address).

If you don't have an Android device, and would still like to use your Australian debit/credit card via Google Pay, consider this BlueStacks method by @langh using a PC.

Part 1 – Creating a new Google account

  1. Create a new Google account on your phone.

  2. Delete your Google Play Store cache (this may not be required). If you don't know how to, please see Google's instructions.

  3. Select your new Google account in the Google Play Store app to switch over from your personal account or add it in if it's not there (to do this, click on your top right icon, then click the dropdown next to your account email, then click "Add another account"). Make sure the selected account is your new Google account.

  4. Add a new payment method and select "Turkey" as the country (to do this, click on your top right icon again, then click "Payments and Subscriptions", then click "Payment methods"). If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile. You can use your Australian debit or credit card (or any card as you wish) and best to use a card with no international transaction fees (Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees).

Part 2 – Subscribing to Spotify Premium

  1. Boot up the Spotify app and click "sign up" or "log in" with VPN off. If you don't have the Spotify app, download it from the Google Play Store. See link here.

Can I sign up with my Australian Spotify account? - Yes! Simply log in (make sure your current subscription, if any, is cancelled).

  2. Turn on VPN and connect to a server in Türkiye (see Notes section for suggestions) and leave it on for the remainder of the steps below.

  3. Boot up the Spotify app again. Click on the premium tab on the bottom right of the home screen. Select the plan you want. Scroll down to the bottom and make sure the country is set to Türkiye. If it's Australia or another country, click the dropdown and change it to Türkiye.

Alternatively, go to your Spotify account settings on a web browser and check what country is selected. If it's Türkiye, you're good to go. If it's Australia or another country, click the dropdown and change it to Türkiye. However, you still have to double check on the app again on step 3.

Country dropdown box greyed out? - I bet you have a current Premium subscription running? If so, this will have to finish. You can't make changes to your location while Premium is running.

  4. Click on "Google Pay". Complete the Google Pay confirmation prompt to subscribe. Your debit/credit card should already be preloaded (add one if not). If requested for an address, please use your Australian address (new Spotify accounts - family plan sign-ups).

If you get an error, trying clicking the "change plan" option and re-select your plan. Muck around with it a little… Turn VPN on or off etc.

  5. Fly back home and turn off your VPN. YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

Part 3 - Family Members (Family plan only)

  1. On the main account (plan manager), go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/family/ to obtain an invite link. Ensure the address listed is your Australian address (DO NOT use a Türkiye address)

  2. Get a family member, friend, bf, gf, or whatever person to accept that link. When requested, enter in the same address as listed in Step 1.

Error? "You need to live at the same address? It looks like you’re trying to join Premium Family from a different country. Premium Family is only available for family members that live together. Try again when you’re at the same address."

Simple solution - go to the relevant Spotify account on a web browser and check what country is selected. If it's Türkiye, you're good to go. If it's Australia or another country, connect to a VPN server in Türkiye, then refresh the page, click the dropdown and change it to Türkiye. Accept the invite again and it should work. You can turn off VPN after this.

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want to use your Virtual Türkiye Mastercard)

Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard REQUIRED

Please read the following instructions carefully. If you already have a Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard via OlduBil, proceed with the following instructions. If you do not have a Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard, STOP HERE and see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784047. I'm in the process of making a wiki page on the Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard via OlduBil, so stay tuned!

Notes: The Spotify sign up pages may be in Turkish (which is easily navigatable if you have some common sense). Feel free to translate the page to English otherwise.

Part 1 – Subscribing to Spotify Premium

  1. Log in to Spotify (VPN off), or make a new account (VPN off).

  2. Turn on VPN and connect to a server in Türkiye (see Notes section for suggestions) and leave it on for the remainder of the steps below.

  3. Go to the Spotify Premium plans page.

  4. Scroll down and select the plan you want. Proceed to pay with your Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard. If requested for an address, please use your Australian address (new Spotify accounts - family plan sign-ups).

  5. Fly back home and turn off your VPN. YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

HELP POINT: Because the popup payment windown cannot be translated to English, here are screenshots of the process in the following order: (1), (2), (3)

Part 2 – Family Members (Family plan only)

ISP Notes (Important)

  • If you currently have a Spotify Premium subscription, simply cancel the subscription and you'll be able to resubscribe via Türkiye. If the current subscription is a family plan, simply cancel the subscription and once you resubscribe via Türkiye (do not let the subscription expire), the entire family system will remain intact and no futher changes will be necessary.

  • Most VPN services will connect to Türkiye, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), free UrbanVPN Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN.

    • If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TL, turn it off and on, then refresh the Spotify sign up page. You'll eventually land on TL. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul.

FAQ

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I listen to Spotify?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you use Spotify Premium. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Spotify without a VPN.

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Spotify account, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely!

Q: Is signing up to Spotify Turkey going to affect my Spotify library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Spotify catalogue/recommendations may be weird with brand new regional music, etc… but your Spotify catalogue will adjust to what you’re listening to and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

  • Still waiting for my transfer from Wise -> oldubil (Garanti bank method) since 3rd Aug. It's showing "transfer successfully" on Wise, so maybe I'll wait a few days before i contact the support.

Need to contact support with transaction proof

I used the Revolut method and it says "The recipient bank is currently not available. We apologize for the inconvenience."

How are people managing to get the virtual Turkey card?

  • Garanti Bank via Revolut now dead. New bank needed

    • Maybe dead with wise too.

Did $24 yesterday, nothing came through sadly. Any chance chasing it up would help?

    • How do you know it’s dead? I transferred successfully on Monday.

      • Revolut said bank not available, few people reported same issue. Oldubil also state foreign accounts cant deposit on the app

        • Is this recent? As mentioned I transferred successfully just this Monday using Garanti

          • @Psygnosis: yes, please try again if it works and share your findings

            • @zanzir: I finally got the funds credited into the account. (Garanti Bank ended up working)

Managed to set up the Spotify membership with the VPN + got student status verified.

FYI for anyone using the Google Pay method with the error: "Google Play purchases are not supported in your country. Unfortunately you will not be able to complete purchases."

The resolve that worked for me (after trying all the other options), was to use a different VPN. Originally it was Surfshark, where the Turkey VPN seems to be IP located in various other European countries for some reason (and was flagging the error in Spotify). I switched to VPN.lat from the Play Store and connected to their Turkey server instead. Worked straight away.

  • +1

Has anyone had an issue where it says:
"Couldn't complete your purchase. Check that you have the correct country selected in your Play account''?"

I'm able to see the G-Pay option, able to select my card and everything - the country in the Play account says Turkey, tried on both a fresh phone + Android emulator

  • Put enough in oldubil from wise for a month from when it was still advised safe to do. What are you guys without android doing now to pay/load?

  • Sent $30 from wise and it never made it
Contacted support that was quick and wanted a reciept form wise and a reason
Gave them a of a receipt and they said it wasn’t a reciept
    And to send again

As soon as they realised it was a foreign account they stopped responding

Guess I’ll never see that $30 again

    • I think they did that to me too.

Sent the receipt and no reply.

        • Right makes sense.

I just sent the 2 page document from wise.

  • What method is being used now ?

  • Is it possible to stack the prepaid options?

First: Thanks to OP (ISP) and others who have posted their experiences and tips!
I've had success with Family Premium ₺64,99 using Method #1 via Google Play :)

    I used:

Existing AUS Spotify account (plan manager for Spotify Family)

    • Cancelled the sub
    • Had to wait for sub to expire (today) - Country option greyed out
    • Connected to Turkey using PIA VPN (ensuring Turkey in DNS leak test)
    • in Spotify account settings, changed country (but NOT the AUS address - left that as is) to Turkey

    Spare Android phone

    • Factory reset (just to be sure even though it is not required)
    • Made sure it only had one Google Account (as bellow)

    My secondary Australian Google Account

    • Connected to Turkey using PIA VPN (ensuring Turkey in DNS leak test)
    • Had no payment profile
    • Created "Payment Method", selected Turkey, using random Turkish address, Australian MasterCard (Bankwest) with real Australian address

Followed @Oipjo instructions to get Google Pay as option:

    • Connected to Turkey using PIA VPN (ensuring Turkey in DNS leak test)
    • Cleared cache from within Spotify app (Settings -> Storage -> Clear cache)
    • Cleared Google Play Store cache (Android -> Settings -> Apps -> Google Play Store -> Storage -> Clear cache)
    • Cleared Google Play Services cache (Android -> Settings -> Apps -> Google Play Services -> Storage -> Clear cache)
    • Closed all recently used apps
    • Force Stopped Spotify app (Android -> Settings -> Apps -> Spotify -> Force stop)
    • Launched Spotify app directly from Google Play Store (not using the phone App drawer or shortcut)
    • Clicked on "Premium" on the bottom right
    • Selected Family ensuring pricing was in TL and country was Turkey
    • Selected Google Pay and payment went through first go
    • Ignored prompt to setup Backup Payment option

    Re-Invited Family Members:

    • Connected to Turkey using PIA VPN (ensuring Turkey in DNS leak test)
    • Logged on using Family plan manager account and obtained the Invite Link
    • Using either Multi-Account Containers plugin / Private Browser / Icognito / or by Logging In/Out with each invited Family Account:
      • In Spotify account settings changed country to Turkey
      • Accepted the Invite using normal AUS home address matching Family plan manger
      • Repeated for all family members

Hopefully this helps someone the same way @I Smell Pennies brilliant post and @Oipjo method to get Google Pay to appear as payment option helped me. Good luck.

    • so following this - does the secondary google account then get taken as one of the 6 spots on the family?

      • No - my Secondary google account is only used for payment (Google Pay). I don't use it to log into Spotify - I have separate login for that. They are completely separate, and that's why people are able to use burner account just for payments. Just as per ISP's instructions :)

        My Family right now:
        (1) Spotify Me (not "Google Account #2") - AUS address - Country TR
        (2) Spotify Mrs - AUS address - Country TR
        (3) Spotify Kid1 - AUS address - Country TR
        (4) Spotify Kid2 - AUS address - Country TR
        (5) vacant
        (6) vacant

Paid using "Google Account #2" with TR payment profile, AUS MasterCard; - ie, none of the four above.

    • Thank you, this method worked for me.

Used new Google profile, VPN.iat, cleared cache and voila!

    • +1

Didn't work for me, I still get "Google Play purchases are not available in your country"

    • I'm confused by "Created "Payment Method", selected Turkey, using random Turkish address, Australian MasterCard (Bankwest) with real Australian address".

How do you enter a Turkish address and a Australian address in the Payment Method?

      • +1

        I am also confused - sorry :(
Just can't remember exactly how I got that point, but on my secondary (TR) Google Account, if I go to:

"payments center" in the browser, I see this:

        • Payment Center -> Payment methods: Bakwest MCD
        • Payment Center -> Addresses:
          (1) Random Name and TR address - it says: "This is the legal address. It can be changed in settings."
          (2) Real AU Name and address - believe this is what is associated with my Bankwest MCD.
        • Payment Center -> Subscriptions and Services: Premium Family (Spotify Music and Podcasts)

"Payments and subscriptions" in Google Play Store, I see this:

        • Payments and subscriptions -> Payment methods: Bakwest MCD
        • Payments and subscriptions -> Subscriptions: Spotify: Music and Podcasts; Premium Family; Next payment: TRY 64.99 on 10 Sept 2023

Forgive me, but since it's working I'm too afraid to fiddle with things (my family would kill me if Spotify stopped). So I can't really easily work out what I did.

        • No problem at all, thanks heaps for all of the details you've highlighted were a massive help, I didn't have an address that indicated "This is the legal address. It can be changed in settings."

Once I added it via the settings, that was the missing piece of the puzzle. Thanks again!

    • This worked for me after getting errors trying the original method, thanks so much!

  • Dammit, my OlduBil account is 25 Lira short of the Spotify year plan. Wouldn’t have been problem if they didn’t jack up prices recently 🤬

  • With a combination of post and replies I have been able to get the family plan up and running - good work all - thanks for the help

  • Hi. Brain strain reading all these pages of comments.

Is there an iPhone set of instructions or this only Android, (couldn’t find iPhone mentioned so am thinking can’t be done on iPhone- seeking clarification).
    Thank you.

    • no current method for IOS - easiest would probably be to source an android or try to perform this on an emulator

  • @I Smell Pennies Thank you so much for all your work! I had a tough time getting it to work, but all the legends that have worked through it before showed me the way :)

  • I can confirm Method 1 still works as of today. What I used:
    1) an ING credit card with Turkey set as the country
    2) an old phone with main google account removed and the new google account added
    3) NordVPN (Windscribe didn't work) set to Turkey + Spotify set to Turkey
I couldn't add 12months all at once, gave me an error when I tried to select it, so $2.28/month it is!

  • TL:DR - don't bother adding a payment profile, instead just create a new Google account.

Tried Method 1 by adding a Turkish profile to my own Google account, and despite that working fine, Google Play store on Bluestacks never provided me with the option to switch countries from Australia (I have an Argentinian payment profile too, for YouTube Family).

Wasted hours on it with slow VPNs and the ghastly slow Bluestacks but finally gave in and made another Google acocunt for the purpose, and a single Turkish payment profile complete with CC. Signed out of the old and into the new account on the Play Store, confirmed country was good, and paid for the sub without a hiccup.

  • +1

Has anyone got it working using method 1 Google Pay for a 12month subscription?

Keeps saying that I'm not eligible for that plan and defaults back to monthly (which I'm not keen on)

    • Hi @DoomTrooper, were you able to figure this out? I am also getting same error for 12mth sub.

      • @myfwds nope never did get it to work :(

        • I got it working and was able to get 12mth sub for ~AUD 23 paid via Google Play yesterday. see cheekychief's post and my reply to it below if interested.

  • I have manage to see the TL pricing. However, I don't see the google pay method. Only credit card. When I enter my cc details, it says its not compatible or something along that lines. I am doing this through a web browser. Mind pointing out what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

    • +1

Just follow what @Oipjo posted. I wasn't seeing Google Pay as option either until I followed those steps.

      • +1

Thanks. I followed it. I now have the Google Pay option. However, it says subscription not available in my Google Play country. I can confirm my google play account in in Turkey and I have used UrbanVPN to set my country as Turkey. Help?

        • Sorry, but based on the previous discussion (and I've read all pages in this and related threads), I can only guess that it's your VPN. Have you run DNS leak test to check tat you are indeed connected to Turkey server?

          • @WalterBiH: I've figured it out! Its because I am sharing my google one with the rest of my family members. Once I remove the account from the family, it worked! Thanks for your help!

EDIT: *DOH! Now I cannot go back to my google family to share my Google One.

  • Worked well for 2 yearly individual accounts on Android. Made new Google account in Play Store, and added a payment method, selecting Turkey. Removed existing account. Used VPN to change Spotify country in account. Turned off VPN. Paid for Premium. Removed new Google account from Play Store and added old one back in. Didn't need to clear cache or any extra steps.

    All good! Thanks!

    • @pyr0 how did you select the yearly option?

      • Go to the website and change your account's country to Turkey before you start the sign up process

        • OK update on the update. Now I get all the way to selecting Google Pay but am getting stuck on the Google Play country not being right even though it is set correctly :( :(

          • @DoomTrooper: OK finally got it working. Had to remove my normal google account completely from Playstore so there was only 1 account then it worked.

  • The account I was using got flagged this morning :(

"Hi there! It looks like your password was proactively reset as a security precaution. Can you tell us what country you're currently in? Also let us know if you're residing there permanently or just visiting."

"Thanks for the info! You can use your Spotify account in a different country or region for up to 14 days. After that, you need to get Premium or change your account settings. "

    • Did you have Premium when you got that email?

      • yeah it was 1 of the accounts under my family plan. All others are still working, so it's pretty odd

        • Very weird. What’s the status of that account now?

          • @I Smell Pennies: It's still disabled, I told support and they said " Thanks for providing! We've made some backend changes to your account by logout and resetting the password. To regain access, you just need to set a new password here: "

Did that and still cant get into the account

            • @rw: I've been getting a lot of "we've noticed suspicious activity" and password reset.

Email I'm getting used to be in turkish now it's switched to germany….

either I'm getting hacked or spotify is doing something in the backend there

    • Any way around this yet? Would a family member need to create a new account?

      • Still can't access the account :(

Invited a new fresh account to the family plan and it's working fine

  • Hi. I got an error message

'Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument or contact us.'

I created a new account for YouTube and it worked as instructed. I went straight to subscribe to Spotify but I got an error.
So I created another a new account for Spotify but same error message above

Has anyone solved this issue? Thanks in advance.

    • Getting this message too. Tried 2 cards so far, no luck.

      • +1

Hey, been trying to get this to work for 3 days and finally got it.

        Here's what worked for me:
Cleared all phone data/cache for Chrome, Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Spotify - and forced close.
Turned on Urban VPN set to Turkey on my spare android phone FIRST - this is the only new thing i did and it worked.
Created a new google account on a phone with no existing accounts.
Added my payment details (location set to Turkey) through the Google Play Store - noticed when I added my credit card, i had to go through the google website (not app) to verify the credit card - Google charged a temporary 12c with a code attached.
Once verified, opened Spotify, logged in with location previously set to Turkey from my last attempts and purchased 12 months premium plan through the Google PLAY tab (Never saw it as Google PAY as some users had, i only ever saw Spotify/Google Play as payment options) for TRY399.00 = $23.15 AUD.

I tried all the other advice and this was my last attempt, so i started from scratch with the VPN on from the beginning and it finally worked.
        Hope this helps someone.

        • +1

          This worked for me too…
I was able to find Google Play only when I changed to Turkiye (English) from the top left of the payment page inside the Spotify app (I guess the native app is using Webview to display the payment page)
          Thanks OP

  • Has anyone tried Paysend (or other similar services) to transfer funds to OlduBil?

  • Hey guys, has anyone figured out a way of topping up oldubil?? I’ve got a payment due for my Spotify monthly account coming soon

  • https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/profile/ seems not working anymore as there's no other country options. Plus when I tried to change country to Turkey after clicked on Premium in Spotify. There's no google pay option. The only option was to enter a Turkey credit card. Seems like Google Pay way is not working anymore.

    • +1

Same here, set up a spare phone with a new account and no Google Pay option whatsoever

  • Worked for me today with method 1 and NordVPN. I initially had the "subscription not available" error, but creating a new user on my phone with that google account seemed to do the trick.

  • +6

I've managed to top-up OlduBil using Binance P2P trading.

    Buy USDT (Tether) with AUD

    • In the Binance app, go the P2P Trading area
    • Buy USDT in AUD
    • Use the filters to set minimum buy amounts. Sellers have minimum trade values so I chose a seller with a $10 AUD minimum as a test.
    • Use the filter to set your preferred payment method. I used Wise, but Bank Trasfer or OSKO should work fine.
    • Select a trader to buy your USDT.
    • Go through the process and pay with your preferred payment method.
    • Your Binance account will be credited with your USDT trade value

Sell USDT for TRY (Turkish Lira)

    • In the Binance app, go the P2P Trading area
    • Sell USDT in TRY
    • Use the filters to set minimum sell amounts. Sellers have minimum trade values so I chose a seller with a 250 TRY minimum as a test.
    • Use the filter to set your preferred payment method. In this case I chose OLDUBIL.
    • Select a trader to sell your USDT to.
    • Add your OLDUBIL payment information i.e. your card number, phone number and optionally a screenshot of your Receive Money QR code. You can find details of this in your OLDUBIL app.
    • Go through the process and wait for the trader to credit your OLDUBIL account.

With all fees, I spent $20.28 AUD and got credited 302.75 TRY in my OLDUBIL account. Not as good as before but it's still better than paying full price for Spotify.

    NOTES

    • You will have to be verified (KYC) before you can make these transactions.
    • 250 TRY appears to be the minimum being traded which is around $10 USDT/$16 AUD. I recommend buying at least a few dollars more worth of USDT in order to be able to trade the minimum Lira amount.
    • Everything you need to know is in the deal description. Comments are also a good resource.

  • OK so I get through everything and in Spotify I can select family play in Turkish Lira but the payment option just has like a Google Pay icon with a red X next to a globe. What does that mean? I added an Aus credit card with a Turkish address but haven’t been asked to verify.

    • Hmm maybe it's failing because its an old phone that doesn't have NFC so can't install google pay…

  • Is FUPS an alternative for a virtual credit card and does it work ?

    • yes if you can get one

  • anyone knows if Google Play pay (method 1) would work in NZ?

  • Money I sent from Wise didn't go through. Emailed Oldubil using the template posted on an earlier page and within the day the money appeared in my account.

    • Hi there , do you have the template?
I did the transfer 24 hours ago ..got the confirmation from wise that the funds have left the account
But nothing has arrived at my oldubil account..this is despite the fact that I’ve successfully transferred funds previously from wise to oldubil

      • Any update on this

Sent a copy of the wise reciept and they ignored me after that

        • it worked for me twice..so ive topped up my oldubil now for at least 6 months worth of family spotify

@muney: Mine never worked , put it thru wise
            Sent them the pdf

            Still nothing

  • What actually happens if you try to invite family members using the normal AU account share link?

  • I was trying to get the 1year plan although I couldn't see any buttons to give more options.

I was thinking maybe it isn't showing because I have an offer to 'return to Spotify' which is 3months for 39.99TRY($2.33AUD)?
I signed up for the three months because it works out to be cheaper anyway but will be looking for the year plan afterwards.

Does anyone have a screenshots of where to get the yearly plan to show up?

I'm pulling my hair out - keep getting stuck at 'The subscription isn't available in your Google Play country' when I try to pay with Google play store.

I've got a (working for YouTube premium) tl payment profile, also tried a new google account with only the one profile.

Tried PIA and Nord - any suggestions?

Keep trying different VPN's. Some that even show as Turkey don't work or are being blocked.

      • Thanks - got it to work today..

I think the secret was using a phone with only 1 google account (new Turkish one). A rooted s8 in this case.

I ended up using "VPN Turkey" - AltApps, the one with the most installs (mainly because I couldn't be bothered digging out my credentials). Sailed through no worries.

Any help please - I get up to pressing the blue subscribe button, then get hit with the message "Something went wrong… Check that you have the correct country selected in your Play account." I've tried VPN.lat, Urban VPN and Windscribe. Same message with all three….

    Any suggestions?

I'm getting this too, on old accounts that used to work and brand new accounts (created on my PC not phone). I even get the message with an OlduBil card…

    • i was able to get around this by signing out of my existing australian google account. having said that i still can't seem to set up a student plan - i just get taken to a web browser where i can't pay with google. :(

      • Thanks for the suggestion. The phone I am trying it on has been completely reset, so no other google account.

        • +1

i used altapps's 'vpn turkey' from the play store as suggested above by @senorclean and that worked for me. maybe try that one?

          • @lachlantula: Thanks for taking the time to respond. Appreciate it, but it still didn't work. Same message as above.

            • @Runey: Do you have a sim card in the Phone you're using? I'm just trying to think of how it's always detecting my Phone even with VPN & GPS spoofing…

The only thing I haven't tried yet is installing a custom OS, but I'd rather not do that if possible.

              • @ichigo15: Interesting thought - but no. No SIM.

Old phone. Completely reset. New Google account that has Turkey as the country as the only account that is associated with the device.

I can select Turkey as the country, it changes the currency, I press the blue subscribe button, I get a little processing circle and then get hit with the message above.

Have tried four VPNs and just because it was driving me crazy I tried installing that android emulator suggested on the first page. Same message with all four VPNs.

I am giving up (for now).

                • @Runey: Damn… I think I'll give up for now too. Hopefully it sorts itself out in the next 2-3 months so I can renew some subscriptions lol. Thanks for the info.

                • @Runey: I know I said I'd give up but I finally got past the country error! I haven't tried it in Spotify yet, but I purchased some things in another app fine.

I used a completely different phone I had not used before (an old Xiaomi phone) and completely reset it. I set the phone up without a google account, set the phone's region as Turkey during setup, and didnt enable Wi-Fi or GPS. I then copied over a NordVPN APK from my PC, enabled WiFi, logged in to Nord and then connected "Turkey #63".I went to the playstore and created a new account and added my UpBank card while leaving the payment country as Turkey and not entering a postcode. I did a test purchase buying one of those "1 TL" apps and it went through, then downloaded Pokemon Go and bought some coins.

I'm not sure if the phones I was using previously were flagged by Google or whatever, but this phone has been offline for at least 6 months and it seems to have fixed my issue. Such an annoying issue lol.

  • My OlduBil card gets declined no matter what I try. Any ideas? :(

    • Same, looks like we need a new Oldubil bank.

    • I just used my oldubil card and it worked fine
