I cancelled my card years ago but noticed I still had an active account that I could login to, just no credit card. I called up wanting them to cancel the account and they plain refused.

      • I’m finding Latitude incredibly frustrating to deal with
I’ve been trying to close the account for a week now. Each response is signed by a different person who says they’ll be responding to me from here on….
Logged in yesterday and my there were no cards attached to my account. (Did a little dance :-) ).
Logged on last night and saw nothing had changed from the day before. Still had the CC with the txns. So sent them another email
Yet ANOTHER person responded this time with
. We apologize for the delayed response.
. Regrettably, the details you’ve provided (??) are not a match for those we have on record.(??)
. So, I can assist you with your enquiry, can you please check your records (??) and try (??) providing me with the following details again? (??)
. Last name as per the card (linked to your account)
Had the card for a decade now, my name hasn’t changed and now despite making my request via the app, I’m being asked for details over plain text!!

  • +2

Got a theory they sent the text to people with low card balance / limited number of transactions. I had a balance of about $1700, no text for me

    • +1

Yeah I barely use mine and have nothing outstanding. I got the offer.

No idea why they’d want to hold on to dormant cardholders though.

      • Thats the difference between you thinking as a customer vs the product and risk guy thinking with a liability cap

        • Just called and asked about the fee waiver option. The "customer Service " [sic] department claimed they knew nothing about it and then changed their story that it was random and then pivoted again to claim it was based upon a specific criteria. Having been promoted to a supervisor they also claimed to not know about the fee waiver option but again pivoted to a computer generated offer to customers. Once again the question was posed as to what is the criteria for the "algorithm" that the computer uses with a "I don't know" response. Anyway up and on wards to Bendigo et alia as Lattitude would not seem to be very professional , often "economic with the truth" and simply not worth $100 py for suffering their "Customer Service" [sic].

    • Could well be. I'm in a similar situation to you, and haven't received the offer.

      • I received my statement on the 15th, and on the last page it confirms that my contact has changed and that I will be charged $8.00 per month for now on.

Not happy that I missed out on the $0 for 12 months offer

  • There's an $8 fee? I must have missed that…

    Time to cancel.

    • I received an email a couple of hours ago stating that my monthly fee was being waived for the next 12 months. I do use my card frequently when overseas and when purchasing items overseas when home. That may be the reason for the deferral.

      • Yeah, just found it in my pile of promotional spam emails. I've set a reminder to cancel 11 months from now.

i cant wait to pay off my latitude card. I literally signed up 2 weeks before the major data breach they had and was told 'oh well'

awful response, awful ui, awful systems and awful customer service. Avoid these guys. Latitude scummy tactics is on par with those financial assistance companies through Harvey Norman which were pay by month/week with extra interest.

I finally jumped on the the flyers points bandwagon and would rather them charging me yearly fees than this awful company.

    • +1

Yeah they are clowns big time feel like it should be called latitude indian services. I get bounced from person to person as no one has clue what they doing !

      • I always allocate at least an hour when having to deal with them…..

  • Got my email today , will keep for next 12 months

  • Still a bad deal given the nearly 28% interest rate!
While I pay off my card(s) in full monthly 99% of the time, no point getting stung with such a high rate if you don't.
Closed my account and won't be going back especially after their cyberattack and sub-par handling and response to it.

Thank you to the person who asked 28 Degrees, R U OK?

  • What's the best $0 annual fees credit card these days?

Is there any such thing as a credit card with $0 annual fee that still gives points?

    • +3

      Bendigo bank

      • Thanks!

  • +1

Targeted my ass, muppets can't even close my account properly even though I have confirmation letters.

Don't bother, get the Bendigo bank card.

Latitude change the terms on a whim and their site and app can't even tell you what your balance is accurately.

    • Yeah this caused me no end in frustration recently… Had no idea if I actually had the space to pay my hire car deposit. Pretty deplorable.

  • I use to use the price protection but haven't since just before they changed from 28deg to latitude website. I'm looking now and can't seem to find anywhere to make a claim. anyone tell me where it is suppose to be? cos if they've taken the Price Protection insurance off our account i'm cancelling my cards.

  • +1

    Their customer service is atrocious.

I’ve been chasing them for months to pay me my cashback from the Mastercard Suica top-up deal. It’s only like $8 but better in my pocket than theirs.

  • I just cancelled mine as well. What a joke they try and get some more people now and just sting them later..

    Don’t do it

  • Thanks! Appreciated the reminder to cancel the card.

  • Latitude is going downhill unfortunately these last few years.

  • +1

$8 a month with no rewards… No thanks
12 months no fee and then need to cancel later… Better off getting a card with a sign up bonus

    • +1

No reward? They generously granted you 27.5% interest rate.

  • +3

Now they realised that sh!t has hit the fan. What a bunch of idiots!

  • Is there a link you can share or is it unique? I haven't received anything 😠

  • +2

Had mine since day one! Yes, that long!! I've spent an absolute fortune through this card over the years but today I cancelled it in disgust!!… FWIW, I closed my account in the App and it was instantaneous… YMMV (FTR, I didn't receive the targeted SMS that others have spoken about).

I also closed my Latitude GO Mastercard a few months ago when they announced that even Zero Balance customers (ie; Me) will be charged a monthly account keeping fee as well… I had a gut feeling then that my prized 28 Deg MC was gunna be next… just goes to show, always follow your gut instinct!

  • Is there an inbox after logging in that would have this message? I can't find anything like that. I didn't get any email or sms yet, and I was going to cancel the card, but I'm happy to wait a little while if the fee is waived for a year

  • +2

Dont fall for their scam, they're hoping you will forget about the monthly fee after 12 months! Cancelled mine and jumped ship

  • Wasn't going to cancel for a few more months, but I definitely will cancel if I don't get this offer!

  • +1

Give them 6 months they will go bust

  • The ACCC would pursue companies like Kogan for raising prices then discounting them

  • I got a payment match promo, $100 given to me….havent received the sms offer though

    • Can we quote this post when they charge us $8? :)

    • Really??!!! Hahaha this is Latitude we're talking about remember!! Don't put your house on it…

    • Thanks for sharing! Hopefully the agent you spoke to knew what they were talking about.

    • +1

      and that rep's name was?
and he/she's going to be putting that confirmation in writing for you of course and e-mailing it?
The time and date that you spoke to them was?

    • Haven't got charged yet for both our cards, didn't get the sms so this seems legit.

      • When's your statement date?

        • 9th and 15th

  • 28% interest pa! Wtf. Garbage card now. Get a Bendigo ready. At least you get free travel insurance & no annual fees.

  • What's a good alternative? HSBC or Macquarie Bank? Or Bendigo Bank?
Need no fees, free atm, no fx.

    • HSBC - nope
Macquarie - yes, but not a credit card
      Bendigo - yes

  • Now it’s going to cost them a packet to win everyone back 😂

    • Price protection back and reset of the amount claimed for those that have it

  • +3

thye've found more ways to piss ppl off even after people've left

    • Maybe it's their way of rewarding loyal customers — those that were planning on staying regardless </sarcasm>

  • No sms or email here. Planning on cancelling.

  • +1

Cancelled 2 weeks ago. Was a customer for longer than i can remember. Stuff'em!

  • Does price protection work if you buy a camera via retailer on ebay i.e. digidirect?

    • Yes, I've done against ebay sellers. Also Amazon, they don't care if you buy from other sellers that aren't sold by Amazon

      • They don't check more like it.

      • I get the feeling they'll get more strict on this soon as the Price Protection Insurance is now done by a new 3rd party insurer.

        • +3

if anything, they've gotten more lax with their checking ever since they swapped to Hallmark insurance. Anything below $200 in price difference, there's no need to send anything in(other than copy credit card statement as they don't have access to that part any more as they're not split from the credit card provider).

  • This SMS is how I found out that they would start to be charging fees. Will be cancelling them in 12 months unless they continue to waive fees.

  • +1

Lame. I got email saying I’ll have 0% interest for rest of 2024.

I rather then waive the $8 monthly fee

  • ooft. cancelled but turned out i didnt have it cancelled for some random reason and got this SMS today lol

  • Get a refund of $300 from bupa to 28 degree after the credit card is cancelled. Customer consultant just hang up the phone. Bastard.

    • +1

You can go online and request for a refund to an bank account. I did that when I accidental triggered two debit request to clear out my remaining balance and they did refund me after about a week.

  • They never get any good deals over years.

  • cancelled

  • only keeping the card if they also thrown in a pack of winnie blues

    • -1

Didn't even know Winnie Blues were still a thing. The price of a pack these days is probably more than the annual fee of an AMEX Centurion card with no credit limit!

  • I had this card since 2018, really sad had to close it few weeks back.

Not signing up until they make 0 fee.

    • +1

Me too. However, as an investor or trader, need to put the emotion aside :)

  • +1

I don’t understand how this is a deal

    • Stupidly high interest rate.
    • Used to be $0 fee since this card existed until just recently. Price hike and then a limited offer discount is ridiculous.
    • Most people have this card for international travel as this is what it was marketed for. For a credit card, Bendigo and Bankwest have great free offerings with 0% foreign transaction fees. There’s more out there including debit e.g. Macquarie. It just doesn’t stack up.
    • Many reports on here about very thin levels of customer support.
  • +1

So rude, the annual fee free for life of the card where they added a few and now offering 12 months fee free.
    No way

  • +5

Their customer service is terrible. The staff think they are superior than the customers.

  • Cancelled, BYE!

  • +1

Cancelled my card. Cancelling was actually quite difficult. Cancelled through the app and received notification that my card had been cancelled, but was still active! Had to contact them to cancel the card properly as they said it must have been a bug in the app.

  • Saw some comments about a 20k lifetime limit for price protection.
Is there any way (other than keeping records) to know what the balance is?

    Thanks

    • you call their price protection team.

hit mine last week then cancelled

  • I cancelled because of the introduced fees.
    Serves them right..

  • Didn't get the email or sms (I just opened the card in July this year), so I called this morning. The call centre is not aware of the promotion to waive the monthly fee of $8/month. So, I ask to cancel the card. No counter offer and I should receive the closure email in the next 1-2 days.

  • Cancelled when I got the letter informing that they were introducing a fee. I just use Up Bank for no international transaction fees now.

  • i have card since 2012, do ppl get automatically registered for price protection ? i called and they said i am not on it coz i didnt resiter

    • No, you had to specifically accept the offer from years ago.

  • May be they are sending this offer to folks that are not using the card much??

  • Dropped them when they wanted the $8 monthly fee there are other options out the now. Didn't use the card much over the last few years as not traveling OS at the moment.

  • Cancelled already

  • anyone received the offer today? nothing for me yet.

  • Same. Still waiting.

  • +6

I hope whoever made that executive decision to introduce that $8 fee gets their ass handed to them. Greedy latitude deserves to lose its whole customer base.

  • I got the offer via email (not sms). (Perhaps due to preferred contact settings or something?)

Nice - I hadn't cancelled yet, because I have a bunch of kickstarters waiting to be charged, and hadn't gotten around to applying for a replacement card yet. Gives me an extra 12 months to apply for one! Thanks!

  • I called them today and it looks like they have a generic response if you haven't received the sms or email yet. I was advised to wait for a few more days to see if my account will be eligible. I asked how does an account become eligible for this offer and the person i spoke to doesn't know. He just said, it's automatic and i just have to wait. Not very helpful but let's see.

  • +1

I cancelled and THEN got the offer for another free year. So i rang them and told them to IMMEDIATELY reinstate the card. the operator said impossible so i escalated to a manager who reinstated it in about 5 minutes. I will keep it till the charge kicks in, in 12 months as I find it as a useful backup for overseas, and also like the lounge option for delayed flights.

  • After being on hold for an hour, the rep confirmed the monthly fees will be waived for all customers for the next 12 months, even if we haven’t received any sms/email, it will be automatic.

I just called them and they said they are waving fees for selected customers only and if I have't received the message yet I will be charged the fee.

    • +6

I wouldn't trust a thing any of their customer "service" staff say - wouldn't know their ass from their face.

    • +3

I got charged $8, so definitely the rep who said otherwise was lying or an idiot.

  • Still awaiting the Bendigo application to be processed. IIRC it's been like 2 weeks.

  • Yay no fees while I wait for my Bendigo application to be processed…

  • i cancelled last week
and as soon as i changed the youtube premium card payment from 28degrees to ing
they got me and asked me to verify address of india haha

    • A real oZBargainer would just jailbreak their TV and install YouTube AdFree instead of paying for YouTube Premium.

When pirating gives you a superior service / content / experience than any amount of paying fees does, then it is perfectly justified and indeed, it is your moral duty to do it, especially so if the service / product / experience is not reasonably available to you any other way.

    • I'm running into youtube premium issues as well. Were you able to change your payment to another card and/or verify your address?
