@JimB: Removing the old ones. Hadn't been changed in probably 15 years I reckon. It was a good 10-15cm from the top into where they screwed in so there was just no way I could get out the thread without risking metal falling into the cylinder so I had to strip the whole thing. First time I ever attmepted anything like that. Remember dad complaining about the mess all over the garage trying to pull it apart and put it back together.
Still, two weeks later she was back up and running so I was pretty happy in the end.
@muststop: 20,000 :P (I think the CBR250R was 18K but either way still phenomenal).
You know what I just watched a video of one on youtube as I was reminiscing and it literally brought a smile to my face. Like damn it would be annoying as shit to listen to now that I am a boomer in my 30's but boy it was fun when I was 17 or there abouts.
saving your comment for later. Cheers
Replaced your belt twice in 3years? Is this a heatpump thing or an aliexpress-belt thing? twice in 3years seems too frequent, no?
Anyone seen a good washing machine deal to go with this?
No, but we have a good KFC deal to go with it! Habanero Hot and Crispy Chicken, 10 for $10. How good is that? Finger licking good if I must say…
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904653
Can this hang in a wall or sit on a stone bench above the washing machine? Or too heavy? Also does it need to drain into a sink or piping? Thanks
Too heavy for wall. I have mine on top of the washing machine.
You can drain into sink otherwise it will collect water in a built in container which you have to empty couple of uses. No piping required. It weighs 41 kg. I bought a Britec dryer stand for it to go on.
What price is everyone seeing on this one when adding to cart. I see $529 before adding, but shows as $566 when in cart. Before any discount code added.
remove the same day delivery.
Nah, thats not it, they have sneakily changed the price up to $566 now.
sneaky..
Was $566 first time I clicked through, second time $532 and purchased for $482
maybe a stupid question, but what mounting kit can i use to mount this on top of a samsung washer?
Also want to know if I can stack it on top of my old shacking washer.
Came here to ask this, was worried it was a dumb question :)
You’d just use a rubber mat
But then how will I wash my clothes if I can't open the top of the washing machine?
Well how are we meant to know you have a top loader if you don’t tell us?
In your case, put the washing machine on top of the dryer and have a step ladder handy.Easy.
2 options
1st- Just get the wife to help you take down the dryer down each time you want to use your top loader. And then ask her to place it back on top of the washer after you're done.
2nd- It's stackable with your top loader. Stack the top loader on top of the dryer. Invest in a 3 step step ladder.
Edit- I didn't read Save 50 Cent's comment before posting but great minds think alike.
*But how will I leave my dried clothes on top of the washing machine in a big pile for months on end?
Britec dryer stand. The big one designed for top loaders.
So looks like the site has put it up $50 now, so that $50 off is not really 50 off.
Very dodgy
gahh, my math is shocking. up $37 not 50
this site keeps fluctuating the price of this item between $522 to $566 every now and then, it seems like an algorithm’s work.
can confirm, $566 the first time for me then $532 the second time I clicked
Would have purchased it if it was still $482 after discount. But now its gone up I'm out
worth trying again, price went back down to $532 for me, purchased for $482 with discount
call them up. They gave me a new code that reduced for $87 so it's $479 net payment.
I was chatting to old mate and he said he could honour $530 but wouldn't add the frenzy code on top… Boo!
Thanks for the tip. I used live chat (although for a cooktop) and managed to get the price down to what it was last week and a further $50 off. $950 down to $800.
Can you share that code pls ??
I have this dryer, can say the drying time is more than the traditional dryer. But can’t fault the performance, and this is an amazing price for this unit.
Can this machine be set up outside in and undercover where no rain can hit it?
Ordered this last week. Be aware that it probably won't be delivered until the end of June. Mine is supposedly coming middle of June.
can you stack it above the washing machine as we have no space in our laundry
I don't have this specific dryer but a different heat pump dryer and have had it stacked on a Samsung washer no problem for the last 18 months
What did you put in between the dryer and washer?
You can stack 2 different brands using the bunnings kit
https://www.bunnings.com.au/eco-clothes-dryer-stand-stacking…
If your washer is front load, you can put an “anti vibration mat for dryer” between. Just make sure the dryer is not too big to stand firmly on your washer.
Mine is a front load, so just the mat will suffice?
The washing machine will be able to take all the weight and movement for the rest of it's life?I bought something like https://www.harveynorman.com.au/appliancepro-stacking-and-no…. I got it discounted since I bought a fridge at the same time. 3-4 years no movement. Just make sure your washer tops is big enough for your dryer bottom. (My dryer on top since my washer will be too heavy with 30 litres of water and spinning circles shake a bit)
History shows $449 before with eBay plus so they should/can get the price back down
Sure if you are happy to wait. Comes back down to your sense of urgency and/or FOMO. It may or map not get back down, so you have to also factor in your risk appetite.
$8 cheaper in a day :)
Brilliant. You'd only capitalise on it if you have committed when the price dropped by $8? How did you go?
@moo: Update: Upon check again, the $449 was a brief sale. I guess $474 is at current. Even tho it's cheaper later it won't much diff. Pulled my trigger!
Does anyone know if these can be kept under a carport or in a uninsulated garage?
Sadly I don’t have any space inside.
Of course they can.
It just gets dusty.
'You will need to purchase some condenser filters from AliExpress, 8 for $10 or something and clean them on a regular basis (eg once a month) - Otherwise it's a huge pain to clean the condenser fins and you can bend them easily.'
ah - so the joy of heat pumps comes with the pain of having to clean condenser fins and find replacement filters like once a month, and then they're too heavy to stack on top of a front-loader washer ?
I bought a cheap vacuum cleaner from KMart with HEPA filters that clog almost instantly and are such a pain to clean (and KMart doesn't stock replacement filters!) that I use now another vacuum cleaner instead. So that was kind of a WOFTAM …
mine is on my front load washer.
it doesn't take long to clean the filters. i bought 8 of them for $10 so don't need to clean them each time (just pop in a new one), could easily just clean all 8 once a year. every 4 weeks is overkill for most people, but we use our dryer daily.
Does a heat pump dryer makes sense if I mostly only need it on rainy days (approx. use 2-4 times a month)?
I don't know much about them but my understanding is they are more expensive up front but then you save money on your electricity bills. If you only use it rarely it may take a long time for it to 'pay for itself' though.
Other benefits are it's quieter, doesn't spit moisture into the air (I think it collects into a bin that you empty) and is less harsh on clothes.
Downside is it's slower to dry.
I could be wrong on some of these things but thought I'd reply in case someone else who knows better doesn't.
If the heat pump was $1,000 and a vented dryer was $300, probably not but at $500, the premium isn't much so get this heat pump.
Depends what your alternative was - did you take them to the laundromat? - If you use average $6 per load, 4 times a month, then this will make its money back in roughly 2 years DYOR
Nah, solar power is what I usually use. With the coming winter and more rainy days in Sydney though, the dryer may be used more often. The dryer is about 15yo but still works fine (just won't start with heavy load that is not spread evenly in the drum). It will probably die of old age in the next 1-2 years, hence why I'm thinking of a cheap replacement before it happens.
Haven't been in the heat pump dryer game, but I need one especially with Winter coming. I'm in an apartment so use the dryer quite often, apartment lacks ventilation so moisture in the air is not good, I have a toddler and need to run at night so would appreciate something more quiet, electricity bills are through the roof at the moment (last one $400 in a two bedroom apartment!). I believe heat pump will help with all these issues.
Anyway, I haven't been researching or anything, is this a good option? What are competitors at this price point? I can just chuck it on a rubber mat on top of my Miele front loader, right?
There is not many competitors for a heat pump at this price point. In terms of brand, it ain't a Miele, but it has proven to be reliable based on real world examples/feedback (OzBargain has many). Functional and well priced.
Thank you, so this is entry level. I was looking at Miele ones for a long time as I had the misconception that you had to buy the same brand to stack them, that's what put me off buying.
I think makes sense for me to just grab an entry level one, but bit concerned about another comment that said his belt broke twice in three years! (they replaced under warranty)
Entry level in the context of price compared to other heat pump, but in terms of technology capability, it is miles better compared to a standard vented dryer (e.g. lower power consumption and no need to be vented).
To stack them, get a non-vibration/slip mat similar to this: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/pacifica-black-rubber-applian…
Consideration is the size of the machine that is going to sitting below, dimension wise and surface.@moo: @moo
Are you confident that the washing machine will be able to take all the dryer's weight and movement for the rest of its life?@Lord Ra: Mine has been sitting on top of my washing machine for the past 5 years. Seems to be working fine. If it breaks after 5 years, it has been a good run, no regrets. It is a 'cost saving' I guess compared to buying a bigger place with the place to put them side by side.
@moo: My washing machine already 5 years old, even though it's a Miele it's probably due to break anyway lol
Ha, that makes a lot of sense. I picked up one of these from hard rubbish. Only thing wrong with it was a broken belt
Fitting the belt is rather tricky, as you have to go in from the front. The new belt I attached was very tight, so it's possible it might need a looser fit. I think it was a 1965, so maybe a 1971 would stop it snapping.
I didn't want to wait for another belt, so I just modified the tensioner spring. We'll see if that holds up long term
Is there any equivalent heat pump system from other popular brands?
This is cheapest compare to other popular brands.
Does anyone know the approx cost per load to run these?
Depending on the load obviously but my bosch serie 8 heatpump uses between .9 to 1.3 kWh per load. I'd say between .30 - .40 dollarbuck.
I actually measured mine when i first got it and it worked out to be 25cents per load. I just moved into a new place with a new electricity conpany and I got a shock with my bill cost and thought maybe it's from using the dryer daily since the newborn. I think it has contributed but not the reason at this stage! Thanks for confirming your estimates!
No worries. It'll also depend on the price per kWh from your retailer obviously but if you have solar, running it during the day will be mostly if not entirely free :)
@ho-ly phuc: Yep understood. I've been churning through all the electricity companies. Just waiting on shopback to pay out this one and them I'm leaving them haha. Ideally I'll jump back on the plans with the 2/3 hours free during the day as i can get 80% of my usage done during that time. My electricity bills were around 60-70 at my old property, now it's more than double. (Including supply charge)
Thanks OP, just moved house and needed a dryer so bought 1 + got the filters recommended by another user.
I posted a deal for this during Black Friday! Absolutely love mine, the cost of running it is so low, with the terrible weather and having to dry baby clothes, this has saved me so much time. Definitely worth it.
I bought from jbhifi the rubber mat, to stack it on top of my washing machine. Haven’t had any issues.
Ok I bought one. The positive reviews here convinced me to pull my finger out and get a heat pump dryer I’ve been meaning to for a while.
Got one. One of the best things I ever ozbargained.
Trying to check out but the earliest delivery date ASAP is June 24th, almost six weeks away. Is that normal?
It varies, but this deal has likely pushed the delivery date out until more stock comes in. There is a box you can tick when checking out to be notified of earlier delivery dates if they become available.
Any thoughts on either these product to stack this dryer on top of my FisherPaykel front load washing machine?
https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/appliancepro-mat…
Or
https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/appliance-washer…I bought the enviro one. Most of the mats are at similar price. This have decent reviews too.
Does the dryer need a special plug in? And where is this made in?
Power plug? No. China
Does delivery include putting the dryer onto my washer? Not sure if I can lift it on my own…
It's 41kg. If you plan well, you can lift it. I am planning to do same as well.
I just confirmed with the Help Chat on the website and they said they will put it on top of the washer for you provided you have a stacking mat.
Does anyone know (definitively) if this can be mounted on top of the LG front loader (WV5-1208)? Does it require a specific stacking kit? Really appreciate any advice/insights.
@Pelicannn: Broke it removing old ones it or installing new ones?
I remember the factory BMW spark plugs after 100k were so tight I was worried I was going to snap something trying to remove it.
I don't own a torque wrench so I tighten them by feel lol.
