Xbox 360 4GB Console + 2 Games + FREE Delivery $169 (after $100 Cashback)

2510

EDIT The price is now $199.(25th DEC)

EDIT 2…The offer is back. (26th DEC)

EDIT 3…Out of stock (27th DEC)

I think this one trumps all the others guys.
grababargain's comment got me curious whether the Microsoft store is included in the promotion.
Ringing up, I found out that it does qualify, so long as I purchase between the promotional period.

Currently there's also an offer for 2 FREE games, although the rep couldn't guarantee if it would still be available on the 26th. Although I would assume it would, as the fineprint states: "Offer valid from 15 November 2013 until 14 January 2014, while supplies last."

EDIT: You have to print out the emailed receipt from the Microsoft store as well as the page(s) from xbox360cashback.com.au and mail it to them no later than the 31st of January.
The cash back will be deposited into your selected bank account in 8-12 weeks.

    Guys, available on JB:
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/xbox-360/xbox-360-4gb-e-…
They have a clause there saying:

Offer valid on purchases made online between 25/12/2013, ends 31/12/2013.
Limit 1 per customer. While stocks last. Please read the terms and conditions.

So they're saying that the offer is valid online, we can hold it against them and kick up a fuss if they don't come to the party?

  • Ozbargained this early.. HAH!

  • Official Microsoft website now no longer gives free games with the 4GB console, in addition there's a $20 price hike. Plus it's out of stock at the moment.

Currently the cheapest I can find is Target's 4GB console offering for $79 (after cashback) which is still pretty good if you've got a broken Original 360 lying around the house being used as a paperweight.

  • +1

    Target sold out online
Big W raised price by $10
Harvey Norman is $100 dearer then most retailers
    The Good Guys $197

  • The Big W deal in store is $98 after cash back with 1 game (Arkham Origins)..anyone know the rough trade in value at EB?

It's sad to see such limited stock online at BOTH Target and M$ including their price hike with the announcement of this cashback redemption… as really only a handful of people were able to take advantage after midnight online of christmas morning…the X360 is priced very well now, but not much of a deal if 4 or 5 people were able to get it online before selling out. I guess everyone else wanting this now have to pay more and lineup in stores while stocks last

  • I wonder whether I can pick up earlier than the date which bigw told me when I purchased at bigw.com.au?
I want pick it tomorrow, but bigw showed the date is 8th.

    1. For the purposes of this promotion, pre-ordering an Xbox 360 4GB console through an Australian retailer will not be deemed an Eligible Purchase. Further, the Offer is not available for products that are still awaiting arrival into store or delivery to the customer.
Does it means that it is not suit the purchase online?
    • pre-ordering is a weird word to use if they mean online purchases though…, and JB's product page makes it look like it's OK to claim if you order online.

  • I found this email in my junk folder:

Thank you for your Xbox 360 $100 Cashback submission.

Your claim entry will now be validated and your $100 cashback will be deposited into your nominated bank account by 28 February 2014.

Should you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

    Regards

    Xbox 360 $100 Cashback Offer

    • What did you submit as the receipt? Like an online order confirmation?

      • The invoice from MS Store.
I wouldn't take the email as a sure sign that I'm getting the cashback though since it was automated.

  • Looks like the 4GB is back in stock on the MS Store along with the 2 games offer but at the higher $199 price.

    • Thanks got one for $169 (price reduces from $199 to $169 in checkout). Comes to $69 after cashback. 2 Free games + free delivery.

    • but only shipped on 15 Jan 2014. Which maybe not eligible for cash back

      • You can buy now & submit a claim, but have until 31st Jan for MS to receive the documents.

        • 3.

        • Offer valid from 26 December 2013 until 31 December 2013, while supplies last. Available in Microsoft online store only in Australia.

I think the T&C's don't apply to MS's own stores? If it wasn't eligible why the world did they go to the trouble of editing the page with all the promo details?

          http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Xbox-360…

I'm seeing it like this: they ship the stock to you by Jan 15, but the invoice will show the date you bought it & not the date it was processed/shipped. Receive the 360 sometime between Jan 16-20 which leaves you 10 days to post the invoice to MS.

        • That is assuming the demand does not outstrip supply and your order gets delayed…

What's holding up your order may not even be the console itself but the games you selected. I presume everyone here picked Gears 3 and Gears Judgment since the rest requires Kinect? Those will be the most popular games, and if they're out of stock on those games your order is going to be delayed.

I think I'm going to try Target tomorrow first.

        • If GoW are out of stock (as they are now) then you can't select them.

  • what would be the trade in value for GoW 3 and Judgement?
    I have both games already.

    • Just eBay it. EB trade-ins are ripoffs.

  • The deal is back… mod can you change the title again..un-expired

  • Thanks OP! have ordered the console and 2 free games for $169 and also submitted for the $100 cashback online
    too easy!

    • still showing $199 all the way through to me - what stage did it cut back down to $169?

      • +2

After choosing the 2 free games & adding them cart. It will also automagically add the console. (make sure your cart is empty before doing this, if not clear it)

        • Ah gotcha. Works perfectly when you start with the games choice.
          Thx

        • No problemo! :D

    • Curious what do we put in the claim form for purchase location?

  • so are people submitting the receipt from Microsoft store initial purchase or selecting to mail in the invoice that should be packed in with the console when shipped ?, tbh I can't remember my order through Microsoft store when I got my Xbox one coming with a invoice in the box

    • I just uploaded the receipt the Microsoft store (Australia) emailed me.

The only concern I have is the receipt is from:

      Microsoft Regional Sales Corp.,
      438B Alexandra Road, #04-09/12, Block B
      Alexandra Technopark, Singapore, 119968

      ABN: 59 547 297 213

I hope this doesn't invalidate the "must be bought from Australian retailer" condition

      • The link does say "Get $100 cashback!", so you should be good.

To be safe, take a screenshot of the item page which has the above, to use as evidence in case of a dispute.

  • purchased one online and submitted a claim online as no serial number required on the cashback site. will just have to wait till jan to get it delivered. :| hopfully they honor the claim or else i will have to cancel the order.

  • There's no dispute in regards to eligibility… From the order page, microsoft store explicitly mentioned the "Get $100 cashback!" in red, and at the bottom it has "How to claim your $100 cashback" in bold.

Now who dare to say they're not eligible?

    • Agree with this^

Was umming and ahhing all day and then decided F*** it.

      Bought from MS store online
Got receipt via email from MS for purchase
      Sent receipt to cashback thingo
Got email confirmation from cashback site saying claim received

      Done.

Burden lifted, back to gaming :-)

      • so you don't need to mail the receipt? A scanned copy will do, right?

        • MS emailed me the receipt, so I just used Chrome browser to print the page to a PDF. On the cashback form, there is an option to upload a receipt file, so I selected that.

A scanned copy should be just as good :-)

  • hmm it didn't say what format the purchase receipt should be in, I hope pdf is ok

    • Did you receive a PDF version of the receipt?

  • Back to $199 for me. NVM, have to add the games first.

I'm close to pulling the trigger but can we confirm that if we order it now, it will be considered as being purchased today, and not the date it was received or sent out? I don't think this will get here before Dec 31, but I need to know if I can make an online claim using my auto generated invoice as proof of purchase, before receiving the console? Has anyone successfully done this yet?

Can someone please confirm for me, once you submit the claim online (before receiving the Xbox), is that it, or do you need to wait for it to arrive and submit another claim through snail mail? Is it done entirely online, if you buy through the MS store, or is the online part just a notice of intention, and the final claim being the one that requires the invoice included with the console to be mailed to them by post?

I really wish there was someone we could talk to to ask for clarification about this promo. They don't answer my emails, and there's no phone number to call.

  • THere's terms on the order page specifically say it's fine purchasing from the MS store (also says that if refunded it'll be minus the discount which is presumably why delivery isn't required before the 31st). imo the problem we'll run into if any is that both the two free games and $30 discount, and the $100 cashback, state "not combinable with other offers."

I'd say $199 definitely fine, if you go through the games offer and get it for $169 it'll quite possibly get knocked back.

    • I think you are right.
Looks like you can only get one offer either $100 cash back or $30 with 2 free games
This whole MS cash back process has been poorly handled.

    • Yes, it is a question…
Does anyone call the microsoft to ask this problem?

  • I can't see the Microsoft store deal with 2 free games being any different then the Big W Batman Arkham origins deal at similar price and we know for a fact that the Big W deal qualifies

      1. $30 cheaper
      2. Choice of games (I already own B:AO on PC)
  • I ordered mine last night but still haven't got the reciept to my email yet. I took a few screenshots though. Should I request them ??

EDIT: all good just need to login useing live account and saw my recent order.

  • I think this looks like the best xbox offer but the more risky? or it is just me

    • Best offer should be JB-HIFI, bough two 100 gift cards with mastercard, and got $60 gift cards, if you buy in store, that's $189*100/130-100=$45.38

if you are only after the console without games.

unfortunetly I bought jb hi-fi online, so it comes to $53 for me.

  • sold out (again)

  • +1

confirmed from Microsoft store "The Xbox 360 4GB with the 2 free games is eligible to the offer "

    • Thanks mate. Did you contact them by phone or livechat?

      • Livechat, the phone closed

  • Hi, I wonder how to complete the form? I am really confused…
I purchased xbox360 from microsoftstore.com, I had received the receipt, but I don't know how to fill : "Purchase Store or Retailer" and "Purchase Location"…
    Thanks~!

  • Can someone confirm that we can get the $100 cashback plus the 2 FREE games?

    • Good news: yes
Bad news: they've been sold out from ms store

      • Thanks. Maybe there will be more stock tomorrow…

        • Maybe they release in batches so orders are easier to manage/process? 3rd time lucky eh?

  • I am guessing that GoW 3 and Judgement would have the best resell value (out of the free games on offer)?

  • Mine just shipped via Toll!

    • When did you put your order in?

    • I ordered about 10PM last night, and I just received a shipping notification for GoW 3 and Judgement (shipped by Toll); looks like the Xbox 360 will be shipped separately.

@leonheart1 Did your console ship too, or just the games?

      • Got my notification too. Its just the games.

      • victorheaven: As hsct said above, right after midnight on the 25th.

electronictomato: The console was shipped with the two GoW games.

        • So the console is most likely to ship w/ the games despite not being listed in the notification?

        • +1

Dunno what you're on about but this is what I see in the email:

Product Name Qty Ordered Qty Shipped Total Qty Shipped Amount
          Xbox 360 4 GB Console 1 1 1 AU$169.00
          Gears of War 3 for Xbox 360 1 1 1 AU$0.00
          Gears of War: Judgment for Xbox 360 1 1 1 AU$0.00

        • Heres what in mine:

Product SKU Product Name Qty Ordered Qty Shipped Total Qty Shipped Amount
          K7L-00005 Gears of War: Judgment for Xbox 360 1 1 1 AU$0.00
          D9D-00002 Gears of War 3 for Xbox 360 1 1 1 AU$0.00

I'm assuming electronictomato has the same. So games shipped first then console later.

          When did you order leonheart?

  • I just checked the account… it is now back-ordered :(

  • For what it's worth they finally replied to my email, though didn't really answer my questions.

In regards to the upcoming cashback promotion on Xbox 360 4GB units, I would like to know if model S (slim) units are eligible for the promotion?

Also, can a claim be made via post after the promotion period is over, as long as the purchase date was within the promotion date?

    Thanks.
    XXX

    Hi XXX,

    Thank you for your email.

Please see the below details from point 2 of the terms & conditions.

Please note that Xbox 360 units which contain Kinect are INVALID in this promotion.

    1. The Offer is available to Australian residents who have purchased a new Xbox 360 4GB console from any Australian retailer, other than auction website retailers, between 25 December 2013 and 31 December 2013 (Eligible Purchase) (Promotion Period).

You need to fill in the online claim form before 31st January 2014.

You can then mail in your receipt to validate your claim once you have filled out the online claim form and received a claim reference number.

    Kind regards,

Microsoft Xbox 360 Cashback Customer Service

Ok, so based on that reply, I think they are saying the S model is eligible, because the only ones they said weren't is the Kinect models. They quoted some line saying 4GB console.

And it appears there is no online deadline of Dec 31 to file a claim.

    • +2

Here's my question to them answered:

      Q:

Will I still get this cashback if I order online between 25-31 December but receive it after the 31st of December?

      A:

      Thanks for your email.
You need to purchase & receive your unit within the promotional period. Your order cannot be on back order.

Since my unit has shipped, I probably will get it on the 31st Dec but there's really no way of them knowing if the deadline is by 31st of Jan. Same with the backordered consoles.

Good on them for replying to each one individually although I wish they just updated the FAQ instead and save a lot effort.

      • This is inconsistent with their terms and conditions though.

There is nowhere in the T&C suggesting the console has to be received by 31 December.

        • "Further, the Offer is not available for products that are still awaiting arrival into store or delivery to the customer."

        • Why would they put a "$100" cash back on the website then… Misleading customers.

But there is no way of them knowing the console is delivered after 31st Dec if we choose to mail the receipt before 31st Jan (which will show a purchase time of 26th Dex).

Just cross my fingers on this one. :)

        • Exactly. How on earth would they know precisely when each console is delivered without laborious checking?

        • Unless the console is delivered after 31 Jan..

  • Since this is sold out and risky to order now, I just got mine from Target. No free games. I paid $170 because I have a staff discount card. But at least it's in my hands right now and I don't have to wait or sweat it out on whether I'll get my cashback or not.

I'm happy. Wasn't going to play Gears anyway.

I've now gone and looked for a list of 360 exclusives that I've missed out on thus far, and it's made me really happy I went with PS3 this gen. The list is very barren. I have no interest in Gears, Halo, Forza, or Fable and there isn't much left really. The only game it has that I wish I had on PS3 was Tales of Vesperia, and it's not a AAA game or anything. It's about an 8 scoring game, and it also did release in Japan with added features.

Everything else that's good on the system I have already played elsewhere (PC is where I prefer to play my multiplats).

Downloadable games are not worth considering since I only have a 4GB drive.

    • +1

Dude, Tales of Vesperia was my favorite Tales game by far. Seriously worth picking it up now that you have a 360.

Anyway, I didn't even manage to get my own bargain so I did the same as you and picked it up from Target :D

      • Yeah that will probably be the first game I get.

The other weird exclusive it got was Acecombat 6 (previously Sony exclusive franchise), but it's been so long since that game was released I don't really care much for it anymore.

To be fair it did get quite a number of timed exclusives, but they originally made their way to PS3.

MS's first party studios are quite lacking in depth to be perfectly honest. Bungie left because they didn't want to make Halo games exclusively for the rest of their careers, and it looks like 343 have taken over the Halo-for-life responsibilities until they too quit and MS has to find a third studio to continue milking the franchise.

I don't play driving games so Forza and PGR are out.

Gears is cool, but its color palette is very muted, and it's just a grim cover based shooter. I played the first game on PC. Duck behind cover, shoot things, move on. It's the same 30 seconds of gameplay for 10 hours. At least Uncharted is bright, colourful, light hearted and has some puzzle solving / traversal gameplay. I didn't care much for the characters in Gears.

There isn't much left after those four major franchises.

I would like to see MS acquire more studios. They can't get a good exclusive without paying lots of money to a third party. Buy some studios, make them create new IPs.

        • +1

You're joking. GoW 1 was the best coop game I've ever played.

        • +1

You're joking. GoW 1 was the best coop game I've ever played.

He's not alone. I found GoW to be fairly mundane too. Once you get over chainsawing people (which some of us did in Doom 20 years ago) there's not much to the game.

        • +1

Don't really like playing story campaigns in multiplayer.

Multiplayer is fine for pvp or horde mode, but in single player I want to be immersed in the story, and not hear or talk to other people.

  • I wonder whether I submitted the application and received a confirmation that means I definitely will receive the cash back?

    • I assume by "confirmation", you mean you received:

Thank you for your Xbox 360 $100 Cashback submission.

Your claim entry will now be validated and your $100 cashback will be deposited into your nominated bank account by 28 February 2014.

In which case, no, it's just an automated reply and it'll still need to be manually validated by someone.

I expect we won't get confirmation for a week or two.

  • Has anyone who ordered just past midnight on the morning of Christmas day(25th Dec) and got a receipt with an order date of 24/12(due to time differences between local time and store website time) managed to confirm with the promoters of this cashback offer, that it will be valid for the cashback?

I've tried emailing the email on the cashback website multiple times, but have had no reply whatsoever.

    • A few of us have this issue, including myself, but I'm not too worried since the Paypal receipt says the 25th. The delay in response is probably due to the inundation of similar questions and that it's the public holiday/weekend period (although it's probably their own fault for making the offer only valid on these days).

Please let us know what their response is though!

      • +1

        Seems we're ok.

Got this reply this morning to my question of whether or not the incorrect date on the receipt(incorrect in that it doesn't reflect Australian local time) will affect the eligibility of the order for the cashback:

        Thank you for your email.
Please process your claim using your receipt from the Microsoft Store. This will be validated as long as all other criteria has been met.
The 4Gb E & S models are both eligible for Cashback as part of this promotion.
Please note that any model bundled with Kinect is not valid as Kinect is not part of this promotion.
        Kind regards,
Microsoft Xbox 360 Cashback Customer Service.

        • Cheers mate. Glad to know there are no issues! :-D

  • I purchased it at 26th, and it still not shipped to me, it still back order, I think it is the time that I should return it…Becarse it may not suit the cash back policy! Does somebody has same situation with me?

    • I am on the same boat, sent them emails on 27th, no reply..

    • So far the cash back policy hasn't actually required any proof that you have received the console, so at this stage I wouldn't be concerned about it. At absolute worst, it comes too late and the cash back is denied, so you just return it all under the free return policy.

      • The thing is we will only find out whether the cash back is accepted BY 28 Feb 2014, which might well fall outside of the 14 days free return period (assuming console is delivered on 15 Jan according to Microsoft)

  • I received a email from xbox360cashback,it is said:

    Thank you for your email.

You need to purchase & receive your product during the promotional period which is 25th Dec – 31st Dec 2013.

You cannot claim for a product which was purchased but on back order so not received during the promotional period.

    Kind regards,

Microsoft Xbox 360 Cashback Customer Service

    • Purchased on 26th received games today Xbox is on backorder
Rang Microsoft consultant confirmed I'm eligible but your email says not eligible I'm confused.

      • I request consultant to give me in writing this is what I got

        Hi,

This is xxxx with Microsoft Store Customer Support.

As per our conversation, here is your MS Store Service Request xxxxxxxx.
I checked the order and are eligible to get the $100 Cashback.

I will monitor the order until it gets delivered to you.
How to claim your $100 cashback?
make an Eligible Purchase during the Promotional Period; Offer valid from 15 November 2013 until 14 January 2014, while supplies last. Selected titles only. Available in Microsoft online store in Australia only.
register your details online via www.xbox360cashback.com.au

It could possible be she got it wrong but I got a case number about this query.

Will wait on others to confirm if not return it.

      • I've also ordered on 26/10. We're on exactly the same boat.

The terms and condition is undertandable, it prevents you from ordering online (eg. HN/BigW/Target) for backorders and claim the cashback. However I considered MicrosoftStore treat it a bit differently. On 26/12 They've explicitly edited their page to include "$100 cashback offer" while they accept orders at the same time. They also acknowledged customers that the console will be shipped on 15/1/2014. I have no doubt that our batch of orders (on 26/12) will be included in their list of cashback offer.

Think about it this way: the promoter of this cashback offer = Microsoft Regional Sales = MicrosoftStore.com . They know about the whole cashback game from inside out, therefore when they say you're in, you're IN. No doubt.

    • You need to purchase & receive your product during the promotional period which is 25th Dec – 31st Dec 2013.

How does MS know what date you "received" it? As long as you have an invoice dated during the promotional period you should be good I'd say. You don't need a serial #, so there's no need to wait for the console to arrive before making the claim.

  • My Toll tracking says this:

    SORTED FOR DELIVERY

    then 2 hours later:

MDT AUDIT SCAN (NO EARLY DEL RULE)

Anyone know what the latter is about? Why won't they just deliver the damn thing?
