  • Awesome thank you.

Be wary - I bought the Rouge 8 pack deal a couple of weeks back and DSE (online store) delivered 3rd gen and not 4th gen batteries too me AND past their shelf life. The Model number at bottom of battery pack was "HR-3UTGB". A quick check on model number table and other data at below link showed they were manufactured in 2011, perhaps 2012 at best. The date code on the top of the pack was 2013-06 (so - assume this is the shelf use-by date). The packs in my local DSE retail store had same model number and also on their 4 packs of regular eneloops (plain case). So, either the attached table is wrong data or DSE are selling out of shelf-life batteries online and in-store? Check as much as you can before placing an order.

Not sure why you would expect the ROUGE/UOMO/TROPICAL eneloops to be 4th gen, they're definitely known to be 3rd gen. 3rd gen is latest Sanyo eneloops. 4th gen are all Panasonic eneloops.

        http://budgetlightforum.com/node/7336
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eneloop

Also, the date you're referring to(2011) is when they were introduced, not their manufacturing date. The manufacturing date is what you assumed to be the shelf use-by date(2013-06).

So, no the attached table isn't wrong nor are DSE selling out of date batteries, you've just mis-interpreted it.

        • -6

          Well - your a bit of a smart-arse arn't you?

        • +6

You pointed out some issues you had with the batteries, I corrected your incorrect assumptions in a civil manner, and furnished further links for more info. I don't think I was rude in any way. If giving the facts to someone who didn't know any better is being a smart-arse to you, then so be it

Don't like being told you are wrong? Easy fix, don't say things that are wrong in the first place.

  • +1

So you would get 20 batteries just like the other deal?

    • I just noticed the URL

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/eneloop-standard-charg…

      "8-x-aa-rouge-battery-pack"

      • How do you get 16 batteries in this Deal ?

2 X 8 AA Rouge battery = 16, but then you still have 4 batteries in the charger. They dont sell Rouge in any less than 8. I have never seen a charger for sale without batteries.

So how do you get 16 ?

        • I was thinking it could be an error and that you only get 8+4. Would make sense because why would they drop the price when the previous deal sold so fast at a higher price?

  • Thanx op :-)

  • Legend! Ordered one of each item, have been dying to personally get into the Eneloop obsession!

    • +6

Only to wonder what you will do with all the batteries later, just like everyone else.

  • +2

Okay, got my 200 Eneloops for $155. Who wants 10 chargers?

    • +1

Just kidding by the way, haven't bought any as it is defaulting to Click and Collect rather than Home Delivery and won't process.

  • Am I missing something here ????

I thought the 'ENELOOP ROUGE Batteries AA 8pk $19.98 + shipping' was a deal. Purchased a couple of weeks back

But now for the same price (including delivery) I can get 16 batteries + a charger - WTF!

    • i was wondering the same thing.. i am guessing ROUGE is different to standard ones.. anyone know?

      • +1

Rouge are the same Gen 3 eneloops, same as the white ones in the charger. Gen 4 has to be on the way here though and I assume thats wh DSE is running them out. Gen 4 is not here yet that I know of but Japan already has them so they cant be far. Gen 4 has 300 more recharge cycles (2100), compared the Gen 3 at 1800. Seems they have the same mAh capacity. Gen 3 claim 2000mAh, min 1900. The Gen 4 claim min 1900. No mention of 2000.

These are well worth the money being asked, if you can get them.

        • I got an email saying the rouge ones in my order would be replaced with 'new tropical' ones, any idea if these are Gen4 or just different colour Gen3?

        • +1

Look like Gen 3 - HR-3UTGBTPE, Std are AA: HR-3UTGB

    • +1

A true OzBargainer will buy this deal too to even out the 'loss' from the first deal.

      • Or return the first lot if unopened.

        • Actually, this option is not possible according to their returns policy

Dick Smith cannot offer a refund or exchange where there is no fault with the product
          (d) What should I do if I have changed my mind and want to return a product?
Please choose carefully as Dick Smith does not normally accept return of products where you have simply changed your mind.

  • On both my PC and smart phone, when I click on Buy Now, it puts it in as Click and Collect rather than Home Delivery so I can't proceed with an order…

    • Same here. Click and collect is selected and there is no click and collect. It wont let you select delivery.

Wouldnt be surprised if they have screwed something up here.

    • same

    • Not OP's fault, but I'm revoking my + as the deal was available for only a couple of minutes it seems.

  • Looks like its out of stock

  • +1

Got my click and collect. Thanks OP, needed a proper charger for my other 50

    • However, this standard charger appears to run for 16hrs regardless of the type of batteries being recharged.
So 'proper' doesn't seem to be an accurate description.
What's the difference between this charger and other (Sanyo) chargers that cut off after a period of time?

  • +7

Too many early birds, too few worms :-/

AAA still available and very good value at that price, though it's hard to get enthusiastic about in contrast to the crazy AA deal.

    • +2

Early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

      • +1

Ah, but the third OzBargainer gets nothing.

  • How to 'click and collect'? There's only a delivery option.

Edit: nvm seems like it's an online exclusive. Picked up the 2x 4-pack 'AAA'for $24.93 delivered. THanks OP.

  • Interesting, they appeared to run out of stock on Friday at $24.94 delivered. Be interesting if they end up canceling some of those orders from Friday.

  • Wtf!! Few days ago bought 2 pack for $46 and thought that was a deal!! Now even cheapert!!

  • +2

Out of stock. This is starting to shit me off.

I spent 30 mins yesterday trying to order when they were not out of stock, and it simply would not let me order them. Now this appears again on OZB and it is saying $14.98 but out of stock.

Lets hope for my fellow OZBs above that it is not yet another DSE online screw up.

  • out of stock

  • How early do people wake up? And how early do they check OB?

    • +1

ozbargain should make an android/ios apps that buzz every time a hot deal appears!

    • +1

Based on theeart's stats, sleeping up isn't an option. "Early" is just 5 letters strung together.

  • :( needed a few for my son's WIi.

  • Are they really going to fill these orders when so many people from the previous deal have orders which are "pending" or "awaiting fulfilment"?

    • Just got an email saying my parcel will be delivered today from the previous deal

  • Eneloop Standard Charger + 16 x AA Rouge Battery Pack

But the pic only show 4 batteries plus charger.

  • Out of Stock for 16x pack

  • Whats even more interesting, is the individual items in the offer are showing as still in stock. The 8 packs are $19.98 each, and the charger is $29.98

  • This deal link was expired but searching on DS website brought up an offer that I could order 'Click&Collect'
    Off to get them now

    • Would you please care to share the details of the " Click & Cllect " offer that you found to work?

      • Put in my postcode 2223?
Anyway dropped by Hurstville store, they had all the items but total was ~$115 and not the $35 it should have been.
People in store tried to ring Headoffice but could not get any sense. Puzzlingly the store did not recognise he stock numbers on their system, we will see

  • These batteries are posted so often on ozbargain, i'm suprised everyone doesn't have all the eneloops they'll ever need.

    • +1

judging from the comments, i think they do have all they will ever need, but just find it too hard to pass up on a bargain haha

    • There are people (at least me) that do not have any Eneloops. I got in the craziness with the other offer and I believe I will buy some AAA here now. I have no idea what I will do with 20 Eneloops, but I see people here have many, many more.

  • +1

Click n collect says "No click and collect products available" after you enter a postcode

My order on Friday is still awaiting fulfilment even though I ordered around 12:31

    • Someone from the other post said they just got the charger with 4 batteries. No bonus batteries. Wil be interesting to see what others get..

  • +1

Awww, the eneloop charger pack is out of stock!

I guess I have to wait a while longer in owning my first eneloops.

  • Argh, missed out again!

  • -3

    Are these batteries any good?

  • +3

They have just updated the 'overview' tab for the charger deal from:

The Sanyo Eneloop Standard Mains Charger designed to suit eneloop rechargeable NiMH batteries charges (from flat) 2 to 4 'AA' in 10 hours or 'AAA' batteries in 8 hours and includes two bonus sets of 8 x 'AA' rouge battery pack

    to

The Sanyo Eneloop Standard Mains Charger designed to suit eneloop rechargeable NiMH batteries charges (from flat) 2 to 4 'AA' in 10 hours or 'AAA' batteries in 8 hours.

The 'two bonus sets of 8 x 'AA' rouge battery pack' has been removed. This just happened in the last few minutes.

    • Seriously, how do they get things so terribly wrong? I hope those that ordered early kept a screen shot.

      • +1

I did screencap this current offer, clearly shows the 16 Rouge cells.

And I have the 16 rouge listed in the invoice for the other offer. I assume everyone who ordered will have the same.

    • Noticed that too. Had been refreshing that "online deals" page and the "charger" product page for a bit and noticed the change, they must have pulled the promotion/changed it midway.

The deal for the 8pk of Rouge + bonus pack 8AA Uomo pack batteries for 19.98 + delivery is still valid though and a great deal. Not as good as the charger + 16pack of rouge for 14.98 + delivery but nevertheless still a good deal :)

  • Cheers mate, grabbed the AAA batteries… Its actually cheaper to buy from a local store then from ebay for once =)

  • what a great deal, too bad I missed out!

  • My last order is still "Awaiting Fulfillment".

  • Eneloop Charger + 16x AA Batteries $19.93 Delivered??? Where are the extra 12x AA Batteries from?

May someone please explain the calculation? I can only see Eneloop Charger + 4 x AA Batteries $19.93 Delivered

    • +2

      The calculation would be:
      bargain+ozbargain=ozbargained

      • -1

        No.

        bargain+ozbargain = bargain(1+oz)

    • +3

It was a mistake by Dick Smith. They've changed it now.

    • same here :)

  • Folks - I've just ordered the "ENELOOP ROUGE Batteries AA 8pk" which indicates bonus pack of 8 AA Uomo pack batteries included. However, just got my invoice emailed describing the following items was ordered:
    * S 4463 ENELOOP ROUGE Batteries AA 8pk
    * 53011 53011 Eneloop Rouge/Charger

Does that mean I will only be getting 8pk AA batteries with a charger instead of 16 AA batteries as expected? Anyone else got their invoice emailed out?

    • Where does it say bonus uomo batteries originally?

    • I had the following on my emailed invoice:

      • DSAU_S4463WEB ENELOOP ROUGE Batteries AA 8pk

And the product code of S4463WEB corresponds to the online deal offer where on the offer page, it states "Get a bonus pack of 8 AA Uomo pack batteries."

Screencapped it too just in case.

    • +1

Thanks. Just ordered one as-well, called Dicksmith and confirmed it is 8pk x 2, 16 in total. But it's been sold out already few hours ago, all are Back-orderes now

      • awesome news :) bodes well for a bargain.

    • Yes, I ordered the same and got the same on my invoice.

    • Yep, same here. No mention of bonus UOMO but a charger instead? Very odd.

4463WEB ENELOOP ROUGE Batteries AA 8pk
      Consisting of following items:
4463 ENELOOP ROUGE Batteries AA 8pk
      53011 Eneloop Rouge/Charger

  • +1

    Price error, listing been revised

  • So no more bonus UOMO?

    • No more bonus anything!

    • ccwwayne confirmed with Dicksmith a few mins ago that it was 8pk x2, so looks like bonus UOMO is still viable

      • Cool stuff - well, lets hope it will be 8pk x2 plus the 53011 Eneloop Rouge/Charger :D

  • +1

Lol are these guys serious with this deal?

A part of me thinks they're just messing around.

"Hmm…let's mess with the OzBargainers heads today, I know - Eneloops deal!"

  • lol there are going to be lots of peeved people getting a charger + 4 AAs for

Update #2 ccwwayne confirmed with Dicksmith that you will get 2x8=16 batteries for $19.98 + $4.95 shipping.$15

    i wouldn't call that confirmation :)

  • +1

    Seems I missed out again?

    • Same, looks like it's not there. x_X

Oh, it's there if you search for it, but it then goes to eneloop standard charger only…

Furthermore, where are the panasonic batteries? Why are tropical eneloops "NEW"? They are old aren't they?

The only reason I can see for discounts is that the parent company Panasonic wants to get rid of the Sanyo branding ASAP.

  • +1

I took the plunge on the 2x8 pk, screen capped the deals page in case that states the bonus. One thing i did notice on the paypal transaction was a charger for $0.00, wonder if I will get it?

    • If you search for eneloop, the first thing is Eneloop Standard Charger + 16 x AA Rouge Battery for $15?

Is that the one you purchased?
