I bought one of these when this deal originally popped up, I still use it. It's great, fits standard household doors and is a lot better than fitting locks on doors you don't want a lock on.

    Highly recommend these.

    • +4

Last year I had a determined hotel cleaner ignore the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, ignore my "don't come in, I'm in the shower", and get stopped by one of these.

      Worth $5, I reckon.

      • If they did that to me it would be followed by me throwing their cleaning supplies down the hallway, although I'm not in a very tolerant mood today . :)

    • Same here. My best travel companion.

      • +2

        My best travel companion.

You need to get out more =p

    • +3

geez. its for when there is no key - eg hotel toilets

    • +6

      no silly, a key unlocks

      • +3

        Then what locks it ?

        • +12

          A Qicklock

        • Good try

        • -4

normally a push button, or a little twisty thingy that you turn 90°.
cant remember the last time i needed a key to lock a door

    • +1

hahaha how many negs do you get a week, JV?

  • +1

Got one for the novelty factor. Doubt I'll ever have use for it.

    • -5

almost negged you for the second sentence! :)

"We ain't got no use for those kind of comments round here"

    • That's what I did the last time the deal was around. However I ended up taking this with me to Europe/UAE and it was awesome, I felt a lot safer having these on the hotel doors. Small price for a peace of mind.

  • Bought one of these, awesome little gadget.

      Nice find.

  • Thanks for sharing the deal. Bought two. I missed out on it last time.

  • +3

Hey, that's the Google Android's Bouncer. I thought I'd seen him before

  • +6

Love the MS Paint job on the bouncer pics.

  • +9

I'm getting one in case I ever become a dodgy tradie and want to stop that guy that busts in your front door for an ambush interview

  • What about shipping ? Free ?

    • +1

Just bought 2, shipping is automatically included in the price

  • +1

I bought one last time around too. Good little gadget but won't fit on doors with raised frames near the lock which is quite a few I have found…

  • Seems like the code takes 50% off the total of your whole cart providing you have QickLock item included.

    • Mm, yep, 50% off everything.. I do wonder if they would actually honor it though.

  • +3

Found myself asking not if I should buy, but how many :(

  • Can you use Paypal? Havent been through the checkout process yet… the site looks a bit… dodge…

    • i just bought 2 and paid via paypal

    • Yes you can, once you have gone through the checkout process, Paypal is an option (in addition to using Credit Card). Paypal is probably the safer option as I am not sure if the CC option uses SSL/web security.

  • My thoughts too, site looked a bit dodgy.
I just paid via PayPal, had to try twice before it worked.
1st time got a server error message.

  • Thanks, bought 2.

  • +5

Where's the HTTPS? Site looks a bit suss. Not sure if I should neg to raise awareness of this. When I went to put my details in, or CC details, there was no HTTPS. The "You are Safe" footer also just takes you to www.crazydomains.com.au

    • +8

no security on a site that sells security stuff…

    • Thanks for pointing this out rorymeister!

I do like a bargain, but I am not going to post my details on a dodgy website.

      • Use paypal then. Redirected to paypal site is always safe, right?

        • The dodgy website would still have my full name, address and phone number.

All things I don't particularly want to be used maliciously.

  • Grabbed 2. Am paranoid about security… :|

    • +13

did you notice the payment page didn't have security?

      • +1

        good thing i used paypal

      • Funny. The product page had two.

      • +1

        I did, hence I clicked Paypal. :)

  • Nice find op, bought 1.

  • +3

For those of you who are paranoid about whether this site is valid or not, I offer you two options:
    1. Go to an alternative seller who has HTTPS but pay full price -
    https://www.neighbourhoodwatchshop.com.au/Home-Security/Qick…
    2. Check out the Qicklock Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Portable-Qicklock/51477537854…), which references a 'Take5' magazine promotion for this 50% off price, and also links back to the website on this post. Then decide if you still want to buy or not.

I agree it looks dodgy though, especially for those who are in the market for improved security! Probably just a poor (lazy?) DIY web shop implementation.

There's something deeply satisfying about a tool that's so simple and so dedicated to one purpose, actually manage to fulfil its purpose so elegantly.

  • +2

wouldn't work* on most of the doors in my house - it relies on having 2mm of clearance between the snib and the stiker plate, in which case you door would normally rattle a lot.

(* ok, it would 'lock' the door, but the door would never be snibbed, and this quiklock would be the only thing keeping it closed)

    Coupon no longer works.

  • +1

It says You Are Safe, SSL encrypted, but there's no HTTPS…

  • says coupon code not found

    • Try again shortly. But you will find that it is giving it to you at half price anyway.$5.00
We are trying to rectify the problem.

  • +1

Ok guys the coupon is working again according to the IT guy!! woo hoo…

  • +3

Also just to put your mind at some ease we are an Australian registered company. We are the manufacturers and suppliers of the product. We supply the neighbourhood watch online shop and quite a few market sellers throughout Australia. The site has SSL security through Crazy Domains. But as always if in doubt please use PayPal. Thank you for your orders stay safe… :)

  • I can confirm it works again.

  • Just ordered 3 of these… Have had a similar door locking gadget (different brand) for years, which has been useful literally hundreds of times, and have always been worried I would lose it one day… I don't have to worry any more! Thanks for posting this deal!

  • Does anyone else have problems ordering with PayPal? :/
I can't order.. keeps telling me to login to paypal

  • Am I the only 1 not worried by not having a device like this? I travel a lot from seedie inner city to remote mountain village, and have never even thought I needed one. Just saw all those '+'s, and came to see the deal.

    • +1

Nah, you're not the only one. I think it's a great idea/concept but I personally don't think I'd ever need it as it's rare I've ever felt the need to lock an unlockable door. Have used my foot to keep a dodgy public toilet door fully shut a few times but only because I was possible to do so and probably wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't. This is a good item for those who feel the need I suppose.

  • Just ordered 4 of these, thanks for posting this deal

  • +1

    Thanks OP bought two.

I travel a lot and have encountered a few incidents where this would come in handy. Only problem is I'm not 100% convinced it would have worked on the doors I would have needed them on.

  • thanks. just ordered two as i'm about to move overseas so these will hopefully give some piece of mind.

Such a simple concept that i'm surprised there's no cheaper copies out there. They should really sell these things at bunnings (or do they already?)

  • Can't believe I bought this and didn't just saw the fork in half!

  • Just bought 2 and $5 for peace of mind when travelling will definitely be worth it.

  • Seen the videos online, but I can't quite picture in my mind… Will it work on public toilet doors - the type with the rotating T handle on the inside, and the "Engaged/Vacant" on the outside?

    • I know a couple of people have mentioned public toilets. But the lock… or I should say, the recess for the lock - is completely different on a public toilet to a house door. It's a bracket that is bolted to the inside of the door frame. Therefore I don't think there's anything to hold the main body of this thing in place. So has anyone actually used it on one? The website says nothing about public toilets, nor does their video show it fitted to one.

Edit: Wow. None of the old threads mention public toilets either. I would have thought that would be the biggest question in most people's minds!?

  • +1

Could be dangerous if travelling alone. My wife was travelling alone through Singapore, had an extreme fever and couldn't even reach the phone to call for help. Luckily it passed and she was fine the next morning. This lock would prevent housekeeping from discovering you the next day, or prevent a doctor from entering the room if you had managed to call for one.

    • Sledgehammer fixes all problems.
      Lock wont prevent just delay

  • I swear this site is turning me into a Hoarder!

    • +1

You'll at least have a good lock to safely store all the stuff you hoard. :)

  • Thank You MemE.
I bought 6, No I don't need to personally lock that many doors LOLLLL. I bought 1 each for my children, grandchildren and my self.

  • Can someone please explain the colours - the video simply shows a silver metal one. Is the colour simply that of packaging, and when unwrapped, they are all silver metal colour? Or is it really either red or blue? If so, how come there is no silver colour to select? Many thanks.

    • +1

yeh just the little case for it is coloured, the actual thing is metal (silver)

      • Thank you :-)

  • Best gadget ever!

    • "Best gadget ever"

I agree 100% with you, if by Best you mean "Hottest" and by gadget you mean "Chick" and by ever you mean "is Halle Berry"

  • To anyone who has gotten it from this deal or the last one, what size package did it come in? I'd like to have it come to an AusPost parcel locker if it's a parcel as it's easier for me to pick it up there than local post office.

    Thanks

  • I've received an email saying status of order has changed to "shipped" last Fri 15/08.

Does anyone know if this is in fact shipped from overseas, or from Australia? Thanks in advance.

    The paypal receipt lists:

    Ask Pete Australia Pty Ltd
    PO Box 656
    Gympie, 4570

Hence, I thought it might be shipped from AUS.
And if so, it should arrive within a few days from shipping.

  • +1

I have replied to your email bluesky. Thank you for your question.
The orders are shipped from Gympie QLD in Australia. As stated in the email we post as soon as we can usually within a day or two of receiving the order depending on volume of orders. Sometimes we even post the same day! However once they are shipped we cannot guarantee how long they will take to be delivered as we have had situations where orders have been sent to the same postcode and arrived many days apart. All we can do is hope that you get your order in a reasonable time. However if you have not received your order after say 10 days please let us know, so that we can follow it up.
    :)

    • Yeap, arrived in the mail today. Thank you very much for the very prompt reply. Tried it and loved it!! :-)

And have big laughs … since this time, I am going to defeat my nephew and niece, haha.
I have a 4 year old nephew and 10 year old niece, very lovable, but when I stay with them, they like to barge into the room just after knocking – without much notice. Sometimes, just deliberately mischievous.
So now, with this device, I will have the upperhand :-)
