  • They used that email from head office stunt on the Big W deal when gift cards were included.
Personally I just asked for the managers name for the ACCC and they caved right in.

  • With regard to the Amex deal I think many will get caught with the out of stock situation and end up with only less 10%.
As the Amex deal goes to end of month maybe wiser to leave it till next week and use the 10% voucher from the petrol stations which is valid to Sunday 12th.

  • Has anyone tried scanning directly off their phone at self serve checkout?

    • The staff wouldn't accept scanning off my phone, and they take your printed vouchers too, best to print a few copies if you're planning to make multiple transactions.

      • +1

Self checkout for me, nobody took my voucher ;-)

        • Or they can punch in the barcode number, which they did for mine :)

    • scanned from my phone 10mins ago and got the discount

    • Confirming this works (Abbotsford, VIC). Loaded up the pdf file on the iphone 5c, boosted brightness all the way up and Bob's your uncle

      • Stocard app

Rockdale didn't say anything about a head office memo but I only managed to get $40 Opal top up. They said it was all their store had left. So had to bundle with some travel travel tens to get over $100.

  • Thanks to the O.P

My nomination for one of the best first deal posts ever.

  • Stacked this with SAVETEN14 and AMEX deal (have already + voted for both)and bought non perishable stuff we regularly use. Fantastic, thanks!

  • Just stocked up hugely at Woolies Strathfield. Then did $100 on opal plus ing. Staff just smiled at me. Best day ever.

  • Bought 2 bottles of Makers Mark and the discount worked :). Added 2 bottles of Cobram Extra Virgin Olive Oil to make it over $100. Being delivered tomorrow. $75.00 delivered = BARGAIN.

  • I wonder if this voucher works for Petrol?

  • Now this is a good post +1 much better than those crap discount burger or useless tool threads.

  • For those that don't have a printer just use your smartphone and zoom in on barcode. Mine scanned and it worked.

Awesome!!!!!!! Bought $220 worth stuff from woolies. Stocked up 1/2 price items. Came down to $172. Then applied the 2 magical words (FRIENDS and SAVETEN14) came down $36. On top got $20 statement credit of Amex. That's one heck of a deal. Woolworths have the cheapskates people!!!!!

  • Can phone recharges be bought as well???

    • +8

It has already been asked and answered:
      marquise asks:

Does the voucher work for Telstra mobile vouchers?

      awoff1 responds:

      Hapalo says it does

      Hapalo comments:

I can confirm I got 7 Telstra recharge vouchers via self check out with 15% off.

      uggugg replies:

How do you get recharge vouchers at self check out? I thought you could only get them at the cigarette counter?

      Hapalo responds:

At the bottom of the screen theres an option that says recharge.

Hapalo's comment earns 2 +'s from the audience.

      The End.

      • Many thanks Nismo!!!!
My credit card is getting some work out today!!!

        • can also confirm it works - telstra prepaid recharge

can you stack more than 2 coupons? If so, there's Free Delivery coupon : MONDAY14 ($9.00 discount)
until 06.10.14, as I'm a first time shopper the delivery is waived, but if someone who has already purchased something can try this, it could be an even bigger savings without creating a new account.

    • yes it worked for me with 3 coupons thank you !

      • for me it says max 2 coupons :(

        • think i still had 3 free deliveries on my account, so the code probably wasn't used ..
          so prob max 2 ..

    • Fyi this free delivery coupon code has a minimum spend of $150

    • doesn't work for me, even with >$150 spend after the other coupon

  • Will this stack with the $100 discount from the meeting your shopping target in four consecutive weeks offer?

    • +1

I believe it will, since I got a post offer this week and this shop qualified, for a bonus week $15 voucher.

Post meaning I just completed a 3x$100 weekly shop deal for a $30 gift card, others also had the same.

The discussion starts here withgusto https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162907?page=1#comment-2282…

      • My offer was 4x$50 weekly shop but the reward wasn't a gift card, rather a $100 discount loaded onto my EDR card for any shop over $100. So now I'm wondering whether I can stack the $100 discount with the 15% off.

        • As somebody posted earlier, I don't think there are any terms around how you pay for your shop.

        • +1

          [@nismo](/comment/2285

The EDR $100 credit loaded directly onto your card will count as a discount and not a payment method. The family and friends discount will then come out of the remaining balance.

        • Thanks pointscrazy that's what I was wishfully hoping against. Makes sense.

        • @Reveen:
Sorry, I initially read your comment wrong, thinking you were asking if this shop would count towards your shop to get a discount.

I've personally never had any credit/discount on my edr card, only ever received receipt vouchers at the supermarket or gift cards in the mail from woolies offers.

Sounds like a great offer you got! I had to spend $300 to get a $30 GC.

        • +1

          @Reveen:

There's a chance I'm wrong on the explanation of the $100 credit. I've just seen a receipt on another forum where a $50 EDR credit came off the total but the full family and friends discount was paid. Good luck with your transaction.

        • @pointscrazy:
Checked it out on the other forum as well. Looks like a goer! Thanks for the heads up.

        • +1

          @pointscrazy:
I'm going to combine the $100 EDR credit with the 15% Family and Friends today therefore $117.65 costs me $0, also any extra spend will go on an Entertainment Book 5% discounted gift card. I don't think I can maximise it any further.

        • +1

So I paid $2.00 for a $120.00 shop. Cost me $1.90 taking into account the discounted Wish gift card.

  • Whilst there you might want to pick up free cough medicine. Nyal Dry Cough and Nyal Chesty Cough marked on the shelf as on special but scanned at normal price = FREE ! Same at 2 Woolies.

  • wow went from like $230 to $178, and got free delivery……….

thanks guys, the stuff i bought was already half price! like 120 cans of doggie food, was just out!

  • 3x Jose cuervo @ 42. 42 * 3 - 10 * 85% / 3 = 32.86.

  • +3

I haven't read all the comments so sorry if this is a repeat. I spent over $300 today (family of 8, stocking up for the month) and at the bottom of the receipt was a voucher for $20 to spend at Woolies. So besides the $50/off I got with the voucher at payment, I have another $20 free bucks to spend by the end of the week which will pay for milk and bread. Heads up and don't miss your voucher on the receipt if you've had a big shop.

  • Bought a few Sydney Bus Travel Tens, a very large Opal top up, and a bunch of groceries both online and instore.

I may have gone a little overboard with this deal, but I don't mind :)

  • Brilliant. Thanks. Saved $60…..well, ok, so I did buy a little bit more chocolate than usual!

  • With all the fun happening here I feel like this bargain hasn't ended for me, you or anyone else with just one buy. I'm slapping my hand in order to stop it from buying a whole bunch of groceries again!! Will they have a problem with 299 Kg?

  • …How did I miss this deal? And I thought I was on Ozbargain too much :/

  • I also have a $15 voucher if purchase over $100, wonder if I can stack this on top of the 15%?

    • If you mean, you will receive the $15 voucher after you spend over $100, then yes you should qualify.

Is it the bonus week EDR offer? A few of us have that this week and I received the voucher on the same shop as this f&f 15%.

Comments from page 2, withgusto https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162907?page=1#comment-2282…

  • Iam a bit confused … Can you get opal credit from
The self serve checkout ? Similarly as prepaid vouchers ? Or we have to ask staff for opal recharge ? Thanks

    • +1

You have to ask staff; only works at terminal with Opal device thingy (usually only one at store). I just did a $120 top up cost me $102

      • Alright, thanks mate will give it a try at the town hall one . Is it possible to top up opal credit by using woolworths gift card ?

        • Thts what i did

  • +1

WWPP0914 - $15 off $150 for new customers only (flyer came with Iconic delivery). Might be useful to some.

  • +1

The Woolworths I went to decided to impose a limit of $200 opal credit per customer (fair enough) but they also require you to have 2 separate identical vouchers (which went straight to the bin) as they can only do a maximum of $120 per transaction. Not a big problem for me as I live nearby but to try to deter customers at the expense of the environment is not the most socially responsible practice.

    • Thats pretty strange practise. Did you credit show up in opal card straight away? I did a top up this morning and i got a NSW transport receipt from them showing the new balance but opal website is not showing this balance? I am wondering if something went wrong or if it just take a day to show up?

      • +1

You will need to tap on before it is shown on the website.

        • Thanks for information victor

  • Because everyone like me keeps asking, i'll confirm that I did 3 x $30 telstra recharges, and even 2 x amaysim $10 vouchers for $120. got 15% off, down to $93.50.

the only shit thing is they print one massive long receipt lol. DIY cutting i guess?

Edit: I tried logging into my amex online to see what that other deal about $20 statement credit back was but couldn't find any such offer? Don't know if it expired, and if it was online only then i guess it wouldn't have mattered anyway as I went instore…

    • Yes It was for online only

  • Is there a maximum of Opal credit you can have on your card? I want to do another $120 topup but already have $138 credit in my account.

    • +1

      Yes, maximum is $250.

      • I guess you can still do a top up of $100 and get 15% off; you would just need to buy something else in the same transaction

        • $100 topup got me 15% off.

        • Yep I previously did $100. I want to do $120 because I just got an email from Everyday Rewards saying I'll get 650 bonus points if I do $120 between Monday and Thurs.

  • Lol the Hornsby store conveniently told me that their Opal reader is not working..

Anyone with similar experience in other stores?

    • Some stores say their limit have been reached (some even say they only have $1000/day, which is true but according to other ozbargainers they can make some phone call …. )

  • Shame tomorrow is a Public holiday here is SA - Woolies not open

  • Does this deal still work today ? Or has it closed today?

    • still works today. Just used it instore this morning

    • +1

Still works today. I just combined the family and friends offer, an EDR offer and 5% discounted Wish cards and ended up with a 30% discount across the entire shop which contained several catalogue items which were at 50% off.

  • Can confirm again it works on booze..

    Got

Bowmore Islay 'legend' Scotch Whisky Single Malt 700ml
Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky 18 Year Old 700ml

For $89 pick up (inc two codes + $20 amex back)

  • Public holiday in Queensland… Woolies is shut :(

    • +1

Seriously? No trading on public hols in Qld generally?

    • you can still order online

    • +1

Woolworths DFO open 24/7 including today ;)

  • I purchased 2 bottles of Johnny Red and 2 bottles Canadian Club for $92 delivered.

    $23.00 per bottle.

  • Fantastic post. Just saved me $40!

  • I ordered $130 of stuff online yesterday and got $29 off using the codes plus got the Amex email conformation. The delivery guy came on time but after he left, I realised he didn't give me my order for $50 worth of prawns and ling fillets and I also received Arnotts teddy bear biscuits instead of Arnotts chocolate chip biscuits. I also got a a bag of frozen chips and chicken tenders which were not part of my order so I rang Woolworths and they had me on hold while they checked with the delivery guy. Unfortunately he had finished his round and there was nothing left in his truck so Woolworths refunded me the cost of the missing items including the biscuits (but reduced proportionately to take into account the discount I received). So now I guess I won't get my Amex credit. But Woolworths did ask me to enjoy the chips and chicken tenders and they also gave me two blocks of Cadbury Crunchie chocolate of 210gm each instead of the one block of 350gm I ordered so not a total loss I guess.

    • You can spent the $100 in one or more transactions, quick put another order in for the other $50 before midnight and the code expires!

  • Did anyone not get the top up reflected into their account despite paying for it? The credit has not been applied to my account even after two days.

(Side story) I visited a Woolworths for a top up for $100 only to be told that I would have to recharge $120 worth to get a discount of 15%, leading to total $102 to pay. She gave some excuse saying it only works when the final discounted price is above $100. Sadly I believed it at the time. Anyone else get misinformed by a white shirted manager as well?

    • It isn't an excuse, voucher wasn't working for purchases of exactly $100, had to be at least $100.01.

And as for the top up not showing up, I know mine took a couple of hours after purchasing on Saturday night. Maybe yours is just taking a little longer?

      • +1

I have a friend who topped up $100 in-store and final invoice came down to $85.

I made another top up yesterday on the same card and that appeared after a few hours. I will bring this up with the Woolworths store tonight and see what happened :)

  • Used it for a grocery shop on Saturday. Check out operator didn't want to accept it. First said it was for family and friends only; I said I was a friend. Then said you needed to produce your staff card to use it; I pointed out that it said staff card OR Every Day Rewards card. She let it go through, but reluctantly.

  • thanks for the post..saved around 30 bucks..
