    • And I'm excited.
      :P

  • I notice "gift card" and "5% off" get mentioned a lot. Are Woolies gift cards normally 5% off face value?

    • +3

With the Entertainment Book, RACV, RACQ etc, yes.

  • Anyone know how long the eGift Cards take to arrive if I purchase one online?

  • Thanks OP, saved $30 on my shop, very much appreciated :-)

  • Many Thanks OP. Can someone tell me what size we have to print the flyer? Is it A4 or 1/4th of the A4?

    • +1

Mine was 1/2 of A4, low quality (saves ink, lol), Barcode wouldn't scan properly so she typed in the number and it worked.

    • I printed it in A4 colour (at work)

The document size seemed to be A4 from memory. AFK

  • +1

Combine with today's only 50% off sunscreen? Allowed?

7 deals in 7 days thingo on Friday, Oct 3.

    • Hell yeah it's allowed! Got 500mL Cancer Council sunscreen (one with a pump) to make up my $100+, great value.

  • Thnaks op, saved $25 dollars and received 5 Jamie Oliver stickers. Hopefully Woolies wont do an Ezibuy :)

  • Wynyard Woolies "out of credit" on opal recharge.

    • They told me the same thing, woolworths town hall still "has Credit" although they are starting to get grumpy there :)

I filled up with $160 as they would not let me get 170 as they can only do even denominations.

      • Even as in divides into 160? Because 170 is also even…

    • They told me that actually "ran out" as early as 8am due to this voucher and had to call Central to request more credit. When the extra credit came through that sold out quickly too. Thanks largely to the ozbargain community I imagine.

      • To be honest, that does not really sound true. If it is, it is a terribly designed system. Gut feel is the manager on duty just said he wasn't doing it anymore. Otherwise the Wynard one would have run out just as quick.

        • I was referring to the Wynyard one. They gave me the the impression that Town Hall had more credit.

        • Town Hall has 2 recharge terminals and presumably each terminal has its own limit. The terminal most people can't see is the one at the furthest counter just around the corner, adjacent to the beauty section.

        • @ufohunter:

Opps sorry when I said Wynard I meant town hall.

    • Had no problem at all at Town Hall at 5PM

    • Just recharged $100. Was told they were out of credit initially but after a quick phone call they were able to service my request. So I don't think there's any worry about credit running out, it's just a matter of them calling to get more

Also when I pulled out my Opal card and the voucher he gave me this funny knowing look like he had been dealing with it all day haha

  • +4

i don't know what to buy!!

    • +4

      Do you eat? Or drink?

      Try those categories ;-)

  • Just saved $32 at the weekly in-store food shop. Thanks op.

  • Double points also on offer via activation for 4 days from Thursday

  • Thanks so much Op you are a star :-)

  • The payment page showed my order totaling ~$107. But the confirmation and email show no discounts and cost $137~. Is this normal?

    • My Woolworths online order confirmation shows the discount.

    • Sometimes any coupons you've applied will disappear unexpectedly e.g. if you take too long or navigate to another page during checkout.

      E.g. my email shows:

      Subtotal:
      300.04

      Less Discount:
      -55.00

      Delivery Fee:
      0.00

      Total Payable (including GST):
      245.04

Got $103 worth of groceries for $78 and free delivery. Ordered this morning and it's already been delivered!

  • Sorry for the stupid question but is Townhall or wynyard are the only store offering opal top up? Also how do you topup opal card at woolies?

    • +1

There's a comment somewhere else in the thread which lists all the Opal top up stores.

Edit: It's on page one. There's a big long list so the comment stands out.

    • +1

I posted a list on the first page of comments, just search for my username.

Go up to the cigarette counter/general enquiries desk and ask for an Opal topup. Simple!

      • +1

        Thanks Guys

  • -3

So does this work for opal?

    • Yep. Just toped up 120 at strathfield woolies payed $102.
      Sweet!!!

  • -3

is it only for staff members or for everyone?

    • Everyone

  • thankyou, $120.37 worth of groceries for $92.31 on the gift card and almost all of those were from the catalogue on special. I didn't get the amex deal so I used woolworths gift card that I bought from the dick smith deal. So $85 for a $100 gift card (dicksmith amex $15 cashback)and I still have $7.69 left.
    total deal = $120.37 groceries + $7.69 balance for $85!!!

    • You can still buy WW gift cards from Dick Smith?

      • only at some of them.

  • Good news guys, the discount still applies if you add alcohol to your cart online ;)

    • shhhhh.. keep quite.. we know it :)

      • Huh? Keep quiet! And let him share. And that is quite true!

  • Is there a surcharge on non special items?

    • Yes, there is for online shopping.

    • +4

Here are some examples of random items (SA prices used, prices can differ in your state):

      BBQ Shapes
Regular price in store: $2.85 Regular price online: $3.02

      Mars Bar 53g
Regular price in store: $1.85 Regular price online: $1.96

      Cherry Ripe 52g
Regular price in store: $1.99 Regular price online: $2.11

Thankyou Museli Nut & Vanilla 500g
Regular price in store: $5.15 Regular price online: $5.46

      Le Rice 2 x 150g
Regular price in store: $3.29 Regular price online $3.49

      Kraft Phily Block 250g
Regular price in store $3.94 Regular price online $4.18

This doesn't apply to specials and lower price every day items that are the same price online and in store. So it's best to try to stick to the specials (well that's a good idea anyway) when you can, as mark up is approx 5-6% from these random examples.

      • Interesting, thanks for pointing that out.

  • Stocked up on TP. Can never have too much TP.
    Also, great first post!

  • No free delivery this weekend ?? Usually every weekend I get it ? I spent over $100

  • Thanks OP, saved $60 with the codes and the Amex credit :)

  • Gotta love stackable discounts!! made my day, over $200 worth of stuff for $80.
Don't forget to hit the sunscreen isle before the end of the day (and other 1/2 price items like pedigree and omo2kg)

  • How much so we need to spend to get the Amex $20? 120*85% = $102. OP indicated $129.42

    Thanks

    • read all OP comments, if you stack the 2 codes you get ~25% OFF. Just make sure your total after discounts is over $100

    • The $129.42 refers to the spend if you want to take advantage of both codes as well as the AMEX deal and you were shopping online. If you were shopping in store you would not have access to the discount coupon "SAVETEN14" so your minimum spend would have to be $117.65 before any discount.

  • Just used today and worked.
Will try again with another Everyday rewards card online with free delivery sent to me in 6 days.

  • Best time to top up opal card $250 max it, since most train tickets are not sold any more. If you got AMEX deal even better and on top of that use a Woolies gift card from entertainment book for extra 5%

  • Yay! Thanks, OP and unity1.

  • Any good offers in Perth?

  • +6

Woolworths suspended my delivery today, I called them and asked why - They demanded I pay more for delivery - "Your order is over 300kg mate and its going to take a whole truck just to deliver your order, you need to pay commercial delivery rates, plus the store doesn't have enough stock to fill your order until next Tuesday"…..

Argh….I asked to speak to a supervisor and none were available and as yet no one has returned my call, I have a feeling the staff hate this offer already…..

    • +5

If you dont mind me asking what did you order over 300 KG?

      • Probably 300 L of Pepsi.

    • +4

      Geezus. What did you buy?

      • +1

Just regular consumables and a few slabs of coke (Limited to 6 of each carton of coke anyway by the website, I don't think it was excessive) - The staff member I spoke to was extremely sh%tty with me from the outset, I didn't even stack coupons - I just figure they are getting slammed by this coupon today.

The bad news is I have a feeling they will just cancel the order and refund without calling me back, so I'm going to go and manually pick and collect my order from my local store in the morning, lucky I've got a ute.

    • +2

300kg! Probably reasonable for woolies to charge a little extra for that much

      • +8

No its not. If they cant honor such a deal they shouldnt offer it.

    • Wow that's crazy, I had no idea try had limits like that, but daam 300kg!! I feel bad for the delivery guy when I order 24 litres of milk… What would happen with 300kg's!!

    • +2

This was displayed while placing my pickup order:

Free Collection Note - These fees apply to normal household/office sized orders. For extra large orders you may be charged an additional fee. You will be advised prior to a fee being adjusted

For delivery they show a different message:

BULK ORDERS - Please contact our customer service team on 1800 000 610 at least 5 days prior to placement of your order. Bulk/Multiple orders delivered within a 7 day period may attract additional delivery fees.

Pity it doesn't just give an explicit weight/quantity/volume limit.

    • Gotta say that's pretty fun, 300kg haha

  • +1

Great deal OP,thanks, got $50 off with a shop of approx. $130 with Amex rebate.

  • +2

Thanks $260 worth of sunscreen for $86 delivered

    • Are you sure you bought sunscreen and not body wash?

    • +2

Score. Just be make sure that you use it in time, sunscreen has a use by date.

    • What? Do you own a swimming pool?

  • Does the voucher work for Telstra mobile vouchers?

  • +1

Just adding my support for this great find - saved ~$40 today on an in-store shop. Even though it was the first day the voucher was available for use the guy at the checkout seemed kind of angry at me using it (lol). That was about lunchtime so I'm guessing WW has lots of 'family and friends'.

    • +2

They should just suck it up. If they get angry for people using their offers, then they shouldnt offer them.

    • Me too, thanks OP, saved $30 last night. This kind of deal is amazing because it's the kind of thing I have to buy anyway (weekly shop) so it's like a $30 gift

  • Got the dreaded out of stock notification! Hope it doesn't affect my AMEX credit.

    Great deal OP!

    • Yes, as more and more orders come in there will be more out of stocks to come. Make sure you add a few extra things to your cart to take this into account.

  • +3

The other deal that gave us the $10 off voucher which we have been using is only at a measly 66 votes while this deal has crossed 800+ votes, so don't forget to vote for that one too:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163517

    • and the AMEX $20 offer, too.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163380

    • Maybe the other one isn't as popular as it only gives discount for woolworths online. They jack up their online prices so the $10 discount pretty well is cancelled out.

      • not if you buy the Specials and while I agree with the discount being cancelled out, I atleast got free delivery which means I don't have to drive to Woolies and roam around looking for a parking spot and then wait for the busy staff to get my C&C order.

  • +16

I can't believe what my wife did - I gave her the flyer on Wednesday night and said to hold off buying much until Friday. She said that she only needed a few things on Thursday -OK.

She then goes out and buys $150 worth of stuff on the Thursday (she is no Ozbargainer)- I bang my head against the wall.

    • Return it all back to woolies, n buy it again. Haha

    • +1

Return your wife back to woolies, n don't buy her back again. Haha

  • Over $2,000 spent… can I get another 15% discount off my credit card bill?

  • ordered about $130, placed the order with the woolworths codes, and received the amex email saying the credit has been applied
    - woolworths informs that one product is out of stock, and a refund of the item has been processed
    - now my spend is less than $100, looking at the terms and conditions, i may not get the $20 statement credit

just a warning, make sure you tick allow substitute if you want that $20 statement credit to definitely be given to you :)

    • +1

You don't have to spend $100 in one transaction so if you don't get the amex credit in the next 5 biz days then make another transaction.

  • +1

Worked for me:- Self checkout, Mobile broadband recharge and EDR-$5(targeted)

  • Got shut down trying to top up my opal card at marrickville metro store. Manager claimed that a notice was sent by corp office this morning not to accept it for opal top up

    • Sounds like it was ozbargained!

    • Oh shit, was just about to head down :(
