I have no interest in a Xbox one but….. that price…..Damn!!!!

    • +10

I just worry they'll have like 3 available.

      • Hnnnnnnnnng HNNNNNNNNGG . that Xbox one price !

        • +2

im going to try and pricematch at target

        • @easternculture:

Would they even have the old model anymore?

I thought all the local stores have cleared them out by now.

  • Shame opens on a Thursday, otherwise would have been worth the ~3hr return drive inc tollroads.

  • +1

Cheaper then a high end standalone blue-ray player.

Might get another xbox then for the living room. Does anyone know if Ebgames or JBHIFI will price match Aldi?

    • +2

I can only imagine being store specific, geographical location may be the killer. worth a try though. The other issue is most other stores probably have the consoles in a package with games etc.

    • JB won't. They don't have a price match policy AFIK and will just say no.

      • +3

Actually they've price matched stuff for me before.

        • With this kind of mark down? My guess is it is below cost!

        • @sween64:I'm not sure if they'd do it with this kind of mark down, but they have price matched a few items for me in the past. Best way to find out is to give it a try yourself!

        • @Tuftsdude: I've had them knock off about $100 off a $500 TV in response to a flash sale by Dick Smith. They do price match, they just don't have a publicly available set of T&C's regarding it. They can't be forced in to a price match they don't think is reasonableness can't be bothered with. They never price matched $30 Telstra Starter Kits down to $10 for me.

        • +1

@sween64: They've done it for me before as well, but not always. A lot of the time they will also use the (entirely fair IMO) excuse that there must be stock available at that price. That involves calling the Aldi store and confirming.

      • +1

they price match all the time even msy.But last time i tried to match their SD cards msy going for $56 they selling for $200 lol guy asked his manager theyu can't do that price.

    • +1

Keep in mind the Xbox on sale does NOT do 4k Bluray

    • +1

      Cheaper than*

  • +16

Hot damn that's cheap. Like, I'd buy that without thinking about the consequences sort of cheap.

    • -8

      Omg, like, omg

  • +13

    Screw the xbox one.

Go the Coolabah Gas Smoker / AKA Hark. $99 its a steal they're usually $299

    • feel free to post that as another bargain. I have no idea about smokers :)

      • +13

I do.. i sell them on a daily basis :)

Even smokers up to $40,000. I even know the people from Hark - who make these.

Bbqs galore also sells the identical smoker rebranded too but renamed "arrosto"

        https://www.barbequesgalore.com.au/barbeques/barbeque-styles…

        • Interesting. So reckon if I buy the BBQ Galore " Optional extra shelves available for $19.95 each" they'll fit into this Aldi one?

        • +5

          @LymeLychee:

Yep but I would order from hark. I think the shelves are around $10 + postage. There is also a hanger aswell on top to hang sausages.

Any reason why you want MORE shelves?

Go to hark directly it will be A LOT cheaper

        • @neofelis: Great info, thanks mate.
Just looking at more shelves as a "just in case need them" scenario. You're right though, the included 4 should be plenty already.

        • +3

          @LymeLychee:

You wont need more shelves. If anything these smokers are a gateway into a proper Weber Smokey Mountain or an offset like a Radar Hills, Southern Cross Smokers, Yoder Smoker, BullockHead Creek, Silver Creek Smokers etc.

        • +2

@neofelis: "gateway smoking" that's why the first one is always so cheap

    • +2

I've thought about getting that in past years. I've no experience with smoking either and sometimes wonder if it creates carcinogenic food … but at $99 I'm tempted to take the risk.

      • +8

Haha it 100% doesnt. Its not char its bark that forms on the outside of the meat. Its a process of smoke and caramelisation or pellicle which its formally known as.

        • Didn't know about this, but I'll research deeper into it. Thanks.

        • That's inaccurate. Smoking food certainly creates a range of carcinogens.

          https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7447916

        • +1

To be fair, is their anything that doesn't cause cancer?

        • @dread22:

Uhhh. Fruit. Vegetables. Nuts. Salmon. Poultry. Eggs. Heaps of food.

        • @airal3rt:

We're all continually scaremongered into everything causes cancer.

Another report says "the level at which PAH exposure begins to cause health problems has yet to be determined. The Environment Protection Agency is working to quantify that, but The American Cancer Society notes that with respects to HCA and PAH, “whether such exposure causes cancer in humans is unclear.”

I can assure you the smoked meat we have here is nothing compared to texas. Many people report that after eating some brisket they felt like they've smoked a packet of cigarettes. We dont use THAT much smoke over here.

If in doubt buy some Colgin Liquid smoke from usafoods. No carcinogens.

        • @airal3rt:
Pretty sure heaps of food has actually been linked to cancer.

        • @Ayedeevee:
I've linked oxygen and water to every single case of cancer.. but no one gives a s#!t what I say!

    • +1

Wow, what a great price! I absolutely love my Hark.

    • +1

      Far out great call!
I got one a while ago for maybe $199 to share with a flatmate who has since moved out (with the smoker).

Absolutely loved it, smoked chicken yum yum. Gonna jump on this bargain, thanks for pointing it out!

      Edit: Store specific, sad :(

  • +2

    Xbone for $149? wtf?

    • Unbelievable price for 1TB and brand new, three months ago I sold my old 500GB XB1 for $120 and thought it was a fair deal. Now I think that was a great deal ~

      • +3

i sold mine on ebay last week for $200. did u sell on gumtree?

        • That's good price too:) I sold mine to cashconverters for quick money as at that time I just purchased xb1 s from Harvey Norman for about 200 (AMEX $100 cashback deal) around boxing day.

        • +1

Yeh I just sold an OG 500gb model for $200

        • @windbox: Did you miss EB games' deal just before Christmas, where you traded your old Xbox one for a new Xbox one S for just $149?

        • +1

@ltvo3: well he got it for $80 ($200-$120)

        • +1

@coolhand: my bad math calculation lol

      • +1

I bought my XB1 from MS in 2015 for $500 from MS Store. Came with Gears of War voucher which I never used, 3 months XBL subscription and a spare controller.

      • I just got the one s for $299 (with 10 games) from Big w
Glad I managed to sell my old 500gb one for $210 on gumtree lol.

  • +6

Knowing ALDI this is probably more of a competition than a bargain… good luck to those who make the trip!

  • Normally outside the Aldi's on the Bellarine it's a queue of people on scooter's. I'd love to see the q for this one. Bring back memories of a Myer boxing day sale opening.

    • Not sure how many other shops are opening but with Aldi and Kmart opening I would expect there would be a few people around.

      • There is supposed to be approx 40 shops opening

  • +2

Im interested in that Robot Vacuum!

    • They do a great job. Great value.

      • Have you got one? Can you rate for us m8?

edit aw bugger. I didn't realise it was store specific. lols.

      • the timber outdoor lounge seems very cheap as well. wd op

  • +9

What is home smoker? My dad used to be one, but he quit long time ago.

  • -1

LOL! When I saw 'smoker' I immediately had a mental image of some dude with a fag hanging out of his mouth. Definitely not the same thing!

    • ALDI gets a bad rap at times but I haven't heard of them engaging in human trafficking.. yet

  • I have noticed most if not all consoles that come from aldi are refurbished models. Still a good price for refurbished though.

    • +11

Uh, yeah.. this sounds like complete bullshit, do you by chance happen to have ANY proof at all, that this console is a refurb?

      • None on me. Not saying this one is but the ones they have sold in the past will have a sign on the display stating it is a refurb. I have seen this personally on other consoles sold there. This is the first I've heard of the xboz one being sold through aldi. Just wished to advise people of the possibility and not to denounce this bargain in any way.
I didn't clearly state what I meant before sorry.

      • Additionally the 60 day satisfaction warranty listed in the ad for this reminded me about the small sign in store for the other consoles. Was a similar warranty listed with those.

        • +1

You cannot void your protection given by the ACCC by purchasing something that has claims to be just a 60 day satisfaction guarantee, if that is indeed what it is.

        • @dfaktz: you have a certain level of protection for new items and a lot less for second hand and/or refurbished items. That is in accordance with accc. Fairly certain it's a minimum of 30 days for non new items. Been a while since I've needed to check on that though.

        • -1

@dfaktz: And in case you wanted proof of accc and refurb this article discusses rights regarding such items.

          https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2014/08/ask-lh-what-are-my-con…

@d1s34s3d: please stop linking blog websites and claiming they provide legal information

        • +3

@zeggie: Will do. Just trying to help people and providing links from a quick google search. Seems like a lot of people couldn't be bothered looking for themselves.
Basically, believe what you want to. I'm sick of the negativity that comes with trying to help people. My statements come from personal experiences. The links come from first page google searches.

Refurbished Xbox One consoles were sold in the past as reported here last November.

If they do sell them refurbished in the upcoming sale (with noting any corrections), it would be appropriate to pull out the pitchforks.

        • They are. Found proof. See below. Thanks for the negs everyone. Glad to try and help.

        • @d1s34s3d: Didn't neg you once and I indeed knew about the last deal. But your proof for this deal is horrible, some shitty news site that can't even afford an SSL cert? The article is 3 sentences..

.. Also, they themselves don't cite any evidence at all, they are literally giving less proof than you are if we take the last deal's refurbs into account.

        • @dfaktz: Well we can just wait for the sale and see if anyone is nice enough to report back. But honestly, given aldi's history of selling refurbished consoles and the price quoted I'm confident I'm right on this.
I don't know why you're getting all worked up about it. My original post was just a heads up to alert potential buyers that, without full undeniable proof, the consoles may not be brand new bit actually refurbished models.

        • +1

@dfaktz: I have to agree with dfaktz, that website is hardly proof of anything.

Aldi have clearly advertised refurbished models previously. I don't see any reason why they would now sell refurbished models and not advertise them as such.

As for models with a "sign in the display", these are usually models returned to the store during the 60 day guarantee. They discount them, whack a sticker or sign on them and put them back in the cabinet.

  • +8

You could buy three xbox's for almost the same price as a nintendo switch lol

    • +4

I'd like to see you play one of those Xbox Ones on the train though :P

        Give this guy a call

        • Lol why would anyone buy that? You need power to play… no battery

        • @BKZ:

You don't wheel a portable generator around with you at all times? Filthy casual.

        • @airal3rt:
Definitely casual - havent played either console for months - to busy playing with others.

To keep clean, I carry a portable battery powered pressure washer. This way i can keep playing with others and not get filthy.

        • @BKZ:

Playing with yourself you mean. :P

That's why you have to carry around the pressure washer.

        • @stonkered: lol
          Love the spin. …

          Wanna play?

        • @BKZ:

          Maybe another time ;)

  • Robot vac was $199 when I bought it!

    • Any good? How many rooms or amount of space can it do and what features does it have like cliff detection or etc?

      • Does 3 rooms (kitchen, dining, main bedroom) plus hallway at my house no worries, you really need to run it a few times a week to keep floors clean because it wont get absolutely everything on first run (this is the same for most robot vacs). I haven't tested it on more rooms than that. It does have cliff detection but I've not tested it out as no stairs. Has a 'mop' feature which is just a cotton pad that will essentially dust the floors although it's a dry mop so it wont wash the floors but I haven't tried it. Comes with a virtual 'wall' device which works well. It's not perfect, sometimes it thinks it's out of battery when it's not (turning it off and on fixes it) and it does get stuck on my fireplace if I don't use the virtual wall and sometimes it's behaviour is mystifying (i.e will get stuck between four legs of a chair that it managed to get between). I wouldn't switch it on and leave the house for that reason because there's every chance it will surprise you getting stuck on something random.

I'd been bugging my husband for ages re robot vac and we agreed on this one because it was so much cheaper than the rest and we haven't looked back. It's very bare bones compared to the Roomba's but if it's any indication, I've stopped bugging him about a bells and whistles one because this does a perfectly good job. For $99 I'd give it a go, Aldi are very good with returns too.

        • Hmm for $99 I don't mind if it takes a few goes to do the whole house slot roughly 3 large carpet rooms a kitchen and 3 carpet hallways.. will definitely need the virtual wall so it doesn't go tumbling down the stairs to the ground floor.

How long does one whole house pass take? And how often do you have to empty it.. also any chance you would know how much power or energy it uses?

Cheers thanks will definitely look more into this as a weekly cleaning top up to keep things under control dust wise.

        • @AlienC:

Probably a couple of hours, I empty it after every clean although I have floorboards. The reviews on productreview.com.au are pretty spot on if you take away the really bad reviews. No idea on energy useage, will try and find the manual.

  • +1

Cracking price for a cracking console. This is an outstanding deal.

    • My bet that it's a catalogue pricing error.

  • +2

You would think it must be a pricing misprint. It's probably meant to be $349. Some one accidentally typed a 1 instead of 3 and catalogue proof read fail. There's no way a brand new Xbox One 1TB console is going for $149.

    • My thoughts exactly. I hope some very lucky people get it for $149. I wonder how much I would spend on fuel getting there…

      • Moght possibly have been $250 do you think?

        • Maybe. Either way I think $149 is an error.

    • Have they just taken $100 off the xbox one and smoker?

Then again.. the smokers they need to buy 1000 at a time. The xbox ones are old stock, could of gotten them cheap to help clear old stock.

Its probably about right and no miss print, they're making next to no money though

    • Well it is a One not a One S …. so maybe.
(Although my money would be on it being a refurb).

    • +1

I dunno, I saw an XBox One in the cabinet of my local Aldi (VIC) on the weekend and for whatever reason $149 or $199, something like that sounds familiar as the price tag.
(as you can tell I didn't pay much attention to it at the time lol).

I know, pics or it didn't happen :(

  • Insane, were they even this cheap when dick Smith shut?

    • +2

Nope. Before Dick Smith went into liquidation, they were already gone. Way gone.

  • +4

please dont get the vacuum cleaner robot its fking shit as hell please buy irobot
