Canon version is same price too

      • +2

        That's for Contemporary not Sport.

    • +3

The Sigma Sport is a way better lens than the Contemporary if a little heavier…. I got a Sigma Sport for Nikon when it came out and it was very close to being as good as the Nikon 400 F2.8 Prime…… At that price I would not hesitate to buy it. I paid $1600 when it was released then it went up to over $2K.

Make sure you get the usb tuning cap with it. It was another level after it was tuned. Sharp at every focal length using FOCAL software to tweak it up.

    • How does this compare against the Nikon 200-500mm?

      • +1

Sigma Sport is sharper, faster AF, better built with a metal barrel allowing for greater weather resistance, and at this price better value, performance and reach.

        I own one :)

      • I had 3 copies of the Nikon 200-500…. IMO it is a dog that had to be repeatedly sent back to Nikon and they could never fix any of them. The Sigma sport is a class act that that the Nikon 200-500 could never get close to. I dont get the hype of people who think the Nikon is a good lens, it ISNT….

If anyone wants a Nikon Fmount/Sigma dock, I have one I dont use anymore…

  • Merged from Axial 1/10 Capra 1.9 UTB Builders Kit $336.26 + $15.95 Shipping @ Hobbies_direct via eBay
    Go to Deal

Been a couple of sudden drops in these kits and also the RTR version so it's a good time to grab a set of you feel inclined. Shame I didn't wait for the second drop as I could have easily saved a good $40 odd bucks.

No introduction needed for those already in the hobby especially crawlers.

Note this is for the kit version which means you need to supply your own electrics and paint the panels. For those that want plug and play, get the RTR version which sits around $489.

Now some of you may be thinking it's a lot of coin for a toy, but these hobby grade rigs are tough as nails and more importantly repairable with replacement parts.

    • What would be a good (low budget) starting point for beginners in RC car world?

      • Also interested to hear opinions on this.

Not so much interesting in the “crawling” aspect. I’d just like to muck around with a sturdy RC car.

Where do people go in Sydney to play with these things?

        • +3

That's not a question that comes with a straightforward answer unfortunately. There are a lot of things to consider. It really depends what you're after specifically. If you want to go bashing then a lot of people would say go for the good ol Chinese wltoys as an entry point. They're cheap for an entry hobby grade vehicle with a boatload of available replacement parts from Ali and Banggood. That will at least give you an idea if it's your thing without breaking the bank.

Then you start going to the more serious stuff like Traxxas and Arrma where your wallet starts to notice it.

As for crawlers, once again the cheaper Chinese ones like hobbyplus, rgt, panda hobby etc. Then moving across to your Traxxas, axial, element RC to name a few. I'm based in WA but there are a lot of FB groups all over the place and it's just a case of finding one closest to you. You can literally build a course in your backyard with anything!

Then there's the racing scene where there are a multitude of different classes of vehicles.

I haven't even covered the onroad stuff but that's not really my address of expertise.

Like any hobby, it can be as complex and expensive as you want it to be.

      • +1

These are a lot of fun to build. I've done two SCX10's already, and this looks good too. Good price really!

        • Ikr! The ryft kit has also dropped in price a bit too! It's getting dangerous as I've already got 6 vehicles across the racing, crawling and bashing classes.

          • @slapz: Very dangerous. We've got 3 on road 1/10, 2 1/10 crawlers, 2 1/10 bashing trucks (Traxxas), and an Associated 1/8th buggy. Lets not get into the smaller stuff!

  • Merged from AOC CU34G2X 34" 144Hz Ultra-Wide QHD 1ms FreeSync VA Curved Gaming Monitor $511.20 Delivered @ Microsoft Australia eBay
    Go to Deal
    Coupon Code: SAVFAV20

Missed out of the recent Dell 20% discount code on eBay while eyeing the S3422DWG. Had thought of waiting till that deal comes along again, but the main use for me is office work, which this monitor should do well enough while replacing two 24" monitors.

While researching ultrawide 34" monitors, I noted down some important findings -
    1. At the budget end, the Xiaomi is good value along with this AOC, and maybe a few other monitors. They're all bunched up price-wise depending on the discount available at any given time.
    2. There might not be a major difference in performance between them so take the cheapest, provided…
    3. …you don't need a monitor hub, in which case check the specifications of the monitor in question. The AOC does have a USB hub.
    4. There are other flat 34" ultrawide panels available at similar prices, but performance reviews for them are few and far between. That said, I'd go with the theory that a curve (any amount) would help keep the display perpendicular to your field-of-vision, particularly looking at either edge of the monitor.
    5. If the Dell is within $20-$30, get that instead if only for Dell's better warranty.
    6. If considering the Prism+ stuff, be aware that there appear to be only a miniscule number of reviews around, and most positive reviews seem to come from only one or two sources. Looking at the Amazon listing for those monitors, reviews for their entire range of monitors have one common reviewer, who posted them on the same day. They all happen to be 5-star as well. Makes the whole thing look super-dodgy to me, and dissuades me from giving them a try.
    7. Black smearing is a concern at this price range, but isn't terrible and can be mitigated to some degree by running a slightly lower refresh rate. Keep your expectations in check, and check out reviews for the specific model to make sure performance is otherwise appropriate to your requirements.
    8. Don't expect the world at this price range and you're more likely to be happy.

    Hi All,

This looks to be a pretty good deal on the Razer Blade 15 Advanced. 12th gen machine. Hopefully someone finds it useful.

    • How is Razer laptop warranty?

      • +1

Have heard it's hit and miss some people have a good experience and others quite a bad experience.

    • One left lol

      • Wouldn't be surprised if they restock, eBay a bit weird with stock levels. Didn't see that though.

    • For this price you could get a beast desktop

      • +1

True. But then you'd look like a complete moron lugging your PC and Monitor around.

        • -1

For this price; you could get a better gaming laptop or equal for much less ( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/714540 )

          • @Danstar: That's significantly slower this deal is a 12th gen CPU which runs rings around 11th gen.

          • +1

@Danstar: You could, especially if you wait for some good deals. It seems like every other day, there's a Lenovo Legion deal on OZB, though my personal experience with Lenovo wasn't great. The thing is though, speaking for myself, I rather like Razers design and form factor.

Plus, depending on the model, I believe Razers are lighter than most competitors and don't have that sort of bulky gaming laptop design. Not that I think any of this really makes up for the fact that they're terribly overpriced and, if the comments on the last Razer deal are to be believed, terrible build quality and customer service.

            • @TheFBIGuy: I think for a FBI Guy you can't go wrong with Razer especially if you're an undercover agent. Just keep all the RGB off.

        • You could get do a complete velka 3 or 5 build for significantly less, and look cool(debatable) with your mini pc hauled around.

    • -1

This is highly over price product. Not really a bargain.

      • Depends on if you want this build quality of this vs others.
