    Omg this one is beautiful!

    41mm or 42mm? eBay days 41mm.

    • +3

The first 2 linked reviews say 42mm. Check out the 2nd photo here.
      Buy now, think later.

Does this have a notification LED?

I think you're on the wrong post.

  • LOVE

  • +6

    Excellent price. Well found.

    • +2

What is the rrp of this one normally?

Tempted to buy after looking the picture

  • How often would a watch like this need to be serviced due to the automatic movement

Don't want to fork out a lot of money on servicing for a 100 dollar watch.

    • +6

Seiko movements like this are known to last 20 to 25 years before needing a service.

      • +1

Well that's good to know. I've always been turned off automatics for the assumption that the service costs will eventually exceed the cost of watch fairly quickly.

Now to try and justify the purchase in my head…..

        • You're thinking about Auto winding mechanical… Those are a different ballgame

        • @D3m3ntia: auto winding different , how ?

you wear an auto, your movevent makes a weight swing, and that weight winds the spring ?

        • @garage sale:

The difference is whether the movement just creating kinetic energy to store in a battery, or if it Auto winds a mechanical watch.

Nevermind. Actually clicked on the link, this is mechanical

Admire your work Watchnerd. Im always curious to know what your thoughts are on the watch(es) you post.

If I can ask, how many watches do you own? 😁

    • +3

1440, he changes watches every minute of the day.

      • +1

        That's dedication! 😱

I suspect the opposite. Somebody with acquired taste with only a few selected watches in their collection.

      • +4

        1440 minutes = 24 hours x 60 minutes/hour.

        Verified.

another day, another watch….there goes my $$$$

  • Good deal!

  • +1

I know that Seiko automatic 5 21 jewls are highly renowned for bad time keeping. How do these compare?

    • Strange. I've been under the impression that they're pretty damn good mechanical movements, especially considering their price range. What are you comparing them to?

      • -5

all cheap Seiko automatic are no good. They don't keep the time. I have had one, starts losing time after day 2. Also the internet is flooded with how bad these watches are

        • -2

Downvoted by people who never had seiko 5 automatic. Shut up and take my money brain community

        • +1

          @Winston100s:
I think if you want good time keeping you can just buy a quartz movement watch. I think to have an automatic watch you have to be prepared to do a weekly set. It suits some folks better than others. I for one do not enjoy it.

        • +2

@sillyhead: agree. Got a seiko 5 automatic. But since getting a sattelite eco drive my seiko 5 automatic has sat in the drawer.

        • +1

I know where you are coming from, I wouldn't go as far as saying they're no good.

Expectations should be tapered for the cheaper automatic Seikos. No one should be expecting COSC certified accuracy out of these watches. With most Seiko 5 watches, anything between -30/+30 seconds a day is considered normal. However in practice it's reported to be less. I'm just ball parking that figure, I assume it depends on what Seiko automatic movement you're dealing with.

I have a J model turtle that gains anywhere between 10-15 seconds a day. Considering I only paid $288 for the Turtle i'm pretty happy with its performance.

But the guys above are right. If accuracy is key, nothing wrong with going with a quartz or EcoDrive.

        • +2

@sillyhead: I have to set the time pretty much every time I wear my automatic. I don't wear it every day, and it only has about 40 hours reserve, so if I leave it off for more than a day it stops. It takes all of 10 seconds to set the time. I admit, a quartz is more simple, and my ecodrive is never any trouble - but there's something I like about the mechanical.

        • +2

@macrocephalic: I have a selection, quartz, auto and ecodrive so there is always "a" watch ready to go if I'm in a hurry and can't be bothered setting the auto ….. eco drive is great, over 15 years old and still going strong.

Since I cannot afford an Omega (yet), thinking of putting this Seiko on a nato strap for a bit of Omega Seamaster Professional homagery and James Bond flair. See: https://omegaforums.net/attachments/image-jpeg.234994/

    Yay or nay?

    • +2

      Buy the Omega.

    • Well have two omegas, speedmaster and seamaster but day to day prefer my seiko skx007. If you want to play with the Cheapies and punch above your weight then these are the ones you want seiko skx007, citizen ny0040, orient mako, cheap but look/feel a lot more expensive. And they rock a nato very well

    • +1

Yay. The bracelet it comes on is awful, it's heavy with cheap folded links and makes the whole watch feel horrid. A nice nato makes a massive difference to it's wearability.

      • Do you own this watch? The end links are folded but I'm not sure about the rest. Trying to find that info now.

        • Yes. If you want I'll send you the bracelet I took off it.

    • Before you buy an Omega, ask yourself if you want to spend $700 per service

      • +1

they seem to now say get serviced if it's longer keeping time to spec rather than to reduce wear , the lubricants they have now are better then they were 30 years ago.
being a chronometer I think its -1 to +6 secs a day (sure someone here will know better so don't neg me) so until it's out of spec I just wear them ……

        • +1

Same here, I don’t plan to do a routine service until it is way off… with the $700 I would rather get a 007 and a Sarb 033

    • Yay. Bond NATOs are great. Or if you want to be a bit different, go the Vinage Bond NATO with the red and green.

I recommend NATOS from Blushark if you make plunge on this watch. :)

  • +4

Help me to justify why i need to buy this watch…

    • +6

      Here is your step-by-step guide:

1- Plus-vote deal to show your appreciation to OP
      2- Buy the watch
3- Wait for member PJC to absolve you of buyer's remorse (this is standard for watch buyers, don't worry)
      4- Enjoy your new timepiece
5- Wait for another great watch post
6- Go back to step 1

      Welcome to Ozbargain

      • +2

3a- Pay hamza23 the absolution fee within 7 days.

      • He doles out absolutions willy nilly - their value is limited. He gave me one to show my partner, she went online to check his credentials and he was already giving out another one. In the end I resolved the problem by buying my girlfriend another watch. There, see, he's just given out another one below, AND he's included some sort of weird made up word - horological - WTF is that? Very unprofessional.

        • Not sure what you're on about there, but you sure are fun at parties.

Did you bother to check the dictionary?

        • @sky blu: Yeah, I see that now - I reckon he didn't know it was a real word though :)

        • +2

          @poohduck: Just a lucky guess.

    • +1

No need a reason. Just buy. Regret later.

      • Amen brother

      • Spoken like a true ozbargainer.

    • +2

By the power vested in me it is my solemn duty to hereby absolve you of all blame and any residual guilt concerning the essential acquisition of this premium exquisite horological masterpiece.

  • Need suggestions please… this or SKX007 ?

    • +4

      Por que no los dos?

    • +1

      SKX

    • +1

I'd go SKX purely because it's a cult classic. There's also more mods for the SKX if you ever consider this down the track.

      • +1

Skx with the bracelet of this urchin would be perfect, wouldn't it?

    • +1

Bought the SKX007 and chose Express delivery via DHL… watch got delivered today… loving it :)

      • +1

Congrats, it's an awesome watch, where did you buy it?

        • Bought from areatrend but they sent me a damaged piece :( the dial has a tiny white mark inside which is quite visible… now they are not responding to my email :(

  • Nice watch but can someone explain why all these "dive" watches don't have lume pip on the bezel. Seems like they'd be completely useless as an actual dive watch as you can't use it as intended, i.e. at depths requiring illumination …

    • +2

This is not a dive watch as it's only 100m with a push down crown.

      • +1

Dive style then? So it's for those of us who like the appearance of going diving without actually having to? Not paying anyone out, I've got a fifty five fathoms as a beater. And I always wondered why the bezel was so useless in the dark…

      • Waiting for watchnerd or pjc with the samurai deal. :)

  • +5

Keep posting these fantastic seiko deals watchnerd

    • Cheers, I will try. Please turn on your PM.

      • done

  • +2

How good is this deal WatchNerd? something that's ok to pass upon and comes up every so often, or is this all-time low etc?

  • Is anyone able to tell me if there actually is any difference between the J and K models?

  • For those lucky enough, a targeted MADE4YOU discount code may appear for a 10% discount :)

  • -6

Looking at negative reviews, this guy sells fake stuff, not worth the risk for me. If its authentic then its an absolute bargain.

    • +1

Ozbargain doesn't allow fake items to be posted as deals.
Please report this deal to the mods & let them deal with it if you think they are fake.

      • -6

There is no way to be 100% sure, but personally for me its better to be safe than sorry.

        • +1

AreaTrend have been around for years and their website currently sells about 59 brands of watch. As for this eBay listing they have already sold 336.

        • +5

Do you really think AreaTrend is going to risk their well-respected reputation on a $150 watch? These watches are entry level.

There is zero incentive for a replica factory to rep such a low cost, affordable watch. Why? Because the original is so obtainable in the first place. Very, very few affordables are repped.

          Your comment is without basis.

        • Idk why you got downvoted. Ozbargain must have authenticity police

        • @Winston100s:
I trust they are original, but I would like to know how a simple moderator is able to tell if they are counterfeit or not.

    • not really the category of watch they tend to do as fakes due to cost of setting up tooling for watch and box and the low demand from buyers ……

    • +2

AreaTrend have been around for a long time mate. They are very well known in the watch community.

  • Added to my watchlist :)

    • Ding!

  • Is there a Seiko warranty attached to the watch?

    • +3

Not sure, but there’s a rather fetching stainless steel strap

  • +1

Got one. Thanks WatchNerd, keep up the great work !

  • Hey WatchNerd if you have a moment, Im looking for some advice, Would you be able to recommend something on par to this watch, however with numbers rather than markers on the dial?

  • +1

    Hi Watchnerd

I'm after one watch that has Saffire glass, titanium belt, automatic and less than $200. Do you know any such watch or think that's achievable.

    • +2
    • There are many options without sapphire under $200. But they're pretty all a homage, which isn't a bad thing IMO.

      • yeah, invicta titanium, but it's not sapphire but it was under $200 last year when I bought it.

great watch, keeps good time, but it depends if you are happy with a homage watch or want something more original ……

me I now need a few Seiko divers.

        • There just aren't many options for that price since titanium is still considered 'premium.' Even for that price, it would probably be a lower grade titanium.
