Budget R5-1600 AF / RX 5700 8GB Gaming PC: $799 + Delivery @ TechFast

930
1600AF-5700-FEB

Number 2 in the Ryzen 5 1600 AF system offering is this "budget" (bordering mid-tier) pairing with a RX 5700 8GB (MSI Mech guaranteed for first 30 and most likely after that). At the $799 pricepoint it's offered at a base spec, with upgrade options available across the board. With the 5700, you're looking at about 40% better performance than a GTX 1660 6GB and 25% better than a 1660 Super, hence "budget" (bordering mid-tier) - you will probably want to upgrade the RAM and SSD size to get the best out of it, but as always with base spec systems, it's designed as the lowest possible entry point for those who don't need a higher base spec.

For those wondering, the Ryzen 5 1600 AF (<— review link) is a 6-core, 12-thread CPU that performs like a Ryzen 5 2600, at a cheaper price point, which is certainly useful in the current climate of increased component prices.

Ryzen 5 1600 AF / RX 5700

  • Ryzen 5 1600 AF (6c/12t)
  • RX 5700 8GB (MSI Mech gusrnateed for first 30, likely after that)
  • 8GB 2666MHz RAM
  • Biostar A320 motherboard
  • 120GB SSD
  • 550W power supply
  • Leaper Mid or Flair RGB case

Price: $799 after 1600AF-5700-FEB

Oh Luke just sell us the RX 5700 on its own please!

  • Hi Luke, is the RX 5700 guaranteed to the the MSI Mech version?
    Cheers.

    • Guaranteed for first 30. I'll update deal accordingly.

  • Hey Luke - I realise there would be an increase in cost but would like to see you guys sell some small form factor builds at some point.

    • We've made enquiries on the available cases. With the current supply situation now isn't the time to try big (little) new things though. On the medium term horizon.

      • Thanks for responding. 👍

  • Well here i go again… I think this will be system 5 you have built for me now, Break out the motivational whip and inform the slaves that they are working through Easter.

Also the price of shipping when up significantly from the previous time i bought from you. When did that happen ?

    • Appreciate the support as always! We changed to Australia Post calculated shipping yesterday. A change that had to happen for sustainability.

      • +2

That hurts your deals abit more so knowing its coming with Australia post. 44$ for shipping is pretty high. Look at couriers please, ive shipped full packaging 35" asus rog strix monitors with them for around the 35$ mark and full systems for about $28.

@MuddyClear: If the item is over 1K does the postage company magically waive all shipping fees?

            Nothing is free in life.

            • -5

@Vert93: I don’t know where you’ve been hiding if you’ve never heard of free shipping for some minimum amount spent. The way it works is TechFast offers free shipping, not the shipping company.

              • @MuddyClear: And if Techfast offer free shipping they will increase the base price of their PC's accordingly to account for this. Free shipping is not 'free'.

                • -4

Not necessarily as it is often waived for more expensive purchases where there is a greater profit margin. Again where have been hiding?

                  • +1

@MuddyClear: The cost is included somewhere along the line. How is this even vaguely confusing? People who want a $100 item (free shipping) instead of a $90 item with $10 shipping really need to think things through a bit.

                      @mickeyjuiceman:

The cost is offset by the larger profit margin. It’s really no different from offering a discount on bulk buys.

People who want a $100 item (free shipping) instead of a $90 item with $10 shipping.

I’ll take the free shipping offer as you can’t ship a PC for $10. Free shipping offers better value for those outside of cheap shipping rates. It encourages more purchases, and overall more profit for some items.

      • A change that had to happen for sustainability.

So a large number of RMAs for damage during shipping > full refunds > loss of sales.

One of a few related scenarios. We'll be watching AusPost's handling very carefully.

For those who have purchased TECHFAST systems. What are the cases like? I have looked for pictures online but no luck. Are they re-branded. Any stand out as the one to get?

    • The leaper cases fill a empty space in the trash. Go with one of the aftermarket options.

      • Any one in particular? I want to keep it smaller if I can.

        • I've tried the leaper and the leaper pro. I replaced them within a week of getting them with a NZXT S340. The h510 would be the new version of it or the H210 if you want the smaller cheaper one.

If you live in a tin shed then leaper cases will match the decor - I don’t so it got binned.

    • +2

It's not too good really. Looks like the tooling is from some super old case, and they just re-designed the front panel.

I took some photos during my un-boxing of the system I got, and there's some closer images of the case.

    • Got Leaper mid case myself. I wouldn't recommend this one due to cooling issues. Had to open the left side of it to get temperatures to normal. Better buy something more solid like Deepcool from Techfast. Leaper Flair looks promising to me on photos.

    • I bought one of the lepers flairs, returned due to another fault but the case itself is bad.

Very tight - 2x2.5" and 2x3.5" however you wont fit them nicely due to lack of space, which leads onto poorer airflow. It already has poor airflow to begin with.
The material is thin and compresses very easily. It's essentially cheap junk. It will be okay if you've never experienced a $100+ premium case before.

  • Another great deal Luke. Great prices, If only I could justify upgrading to an 8 core with a 5700XT or better GPU.

    Someday……..

  • any itx i5 9400f 1060super

    • No ITX at this stage sorry.

  • When's a 1600af/580 deal coming?

    • Maybe this week, maybe next, but definitely coming.

      • Sounds good. Just trying to choose between the 1600af/1660 vs 1600af/580 . Which will come down to the price difference between the two deals

  • +1

I would like something with a powerful CPU but weaker GPU for a non-gamer, productivity build. Like 3700X with a RX580 or GTX 1660?

    • Have posted before but that format doesn't work as B350 is unavailable. Would something similar work? It would have a B450 bundled.

  • I’m not into gaming but would this be good enough to use for uni work and for playing 4K Netflix and downloaded movies on a TV without any issues?

    • +1

100% yes, and overkill. Save yourself some dough with this one.
