Previously posted here. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/547741
I know eBay has been getting a ton of hate lately but seems like a decent deal for a years worth of plus perks.

    • I got the $30 deal too. Didn't take it.

      • Mine expires on the 14th, and I took up the $30 (which would only occur upon renewal) - but have just now canceled anyway.
Will hope this link works in the next day or so or after the 14th. and update here if it works this way.

        • Thanks mate, looking forward to hear from you

          • @HD9990: Sooo… Just realised its 14 Sept. not Aug. Doh.

            • +1

@Elijha: LOL… mine's expirying this week. Let's see what will happen

  • Got this. Good choice considering I'm going to be spending money on ebay anyways.

  • Another confirmed voucher here from a lapsed Plus account with no recent email voucher offer (did have a few sent months back though).

  • Is there a point in getting ebay plus over amazon prime? most things are usually cheaper or of better quality on Amazon

    • +3

Yes, you can't use prime on eBay.

  • Dam it spent a bit over 200 this morning and plus expired last month and I didn't renew cos it was pretty medicore in its benefits, but would of taken this on. Strange i got no email

  • Worked for me as well. I did not get the target email but went ahead and signed up using the ozbargain link. Got the $50 coupon upon paying for the membership.

  • It's amazing how people still get sucked into this stupid shit ebay pulls off!

    • +1

I don't mind getting pulled off by this deal as I was going to spend over $50 anyway. Was just waiting for some incentive.

  • +3

Be very wary. I signed back up to eBay Plus on the guarantee of a $30 voucher (I've used some of the eBay Plus only codes over the past year).
This will be the third time I've contacted eBay support and still nothing (even though they keep saying it will appear in my account in the next 24 to 72 hours).
I wouldn't trust that you receive the $50 they advertise. It's been several weeks and multiple attempts only to be fed total BS.

    • Good thing I clicked 'no' then. Hahaha.
I was going to cancel it last year and I forgot to do it after they charged my paypal account.

    • Same here no $30 voucher and support palms me off saying it will arrive. Should just chargeback the payment which i've never had to do before.

  • Sorry if it's already been asked but can you use the voucher for anything on eBay, or only eBay plus items?

    Thanks

    • It shows up as usable on a non plus item. Just be wary that I didn't actually try to use it, so it is possible it balks later.

  • +1

I checked with a couple of old accounts (that had already used an ebay+ trial). One of them worked with this deal, and I successfully got the coupon added my to account.

I noticed that when you get onto the payment method page, if it doesn't have a blue box/blue exclamation point that says; "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately." - you should be good to sign up, YMMV.

  • +1

I let my ebay plus expire and mostly use Amazon now after all their shitty price jacking sales.

Not sure if it is worth the risk of signing up again and not getting the voucher provided

  • Any1 paid via paypal and got voucher ?

    • +1

I had the banner advertisement displaying on my account. Payed with PayPal and voucher recieved instantly.

  • Do you have to spend $50 in one go?

  • +1

Why is eBay getting hate lately? (For us minimal eBay users)

    • +4

Fundamentally, you can hardly find any real bargain on eBay Plus items consistently. eBay does try to offer free postage and fund some part of express post postage. At the same time, eBay prefers eBay Plus sellers avoid abusing free postage. Let's face it, if eBay Plus sellers should avoid having feeBay paying the entire postage, customers will end up having to fund it (even if it is wrapped under "free postage" - it goes to the item price). For Amazon Prime, on the other hand, people can get $10 items delivered quickly and with free postage. On feeBay Plus, you are generally looking at $30+ items, and you don't really feel those are great buys (it usually feels like you are still paying for the express postage).

Not to mention the feeBay Plus after sale service is very ordinary. It's from the sellers. I had to get eBay CSR involved to get proper service from a feeBay Plus seller recently. Not to mention that seller posted the item rather slowly. If it weren't for feeBay paying part of express post, it would be really slow. And that feeBay Plus seller has the nerve to send me only part of the item (and played dumb).

There are those special $99 AirPods 2 deals now and then, but you have people just sign up for a trial and snatch a good portion of those.

It's difficult for eBay to compete with Amazon Prime. eBay is the middle man so eBay wants a cut of the sale. Amazon can get a great deal from logistics companies, buy loads to do a sale or entice merchants to do one (because having items in Amazon's warehouse shelfs has a cost).

      • Such a good answer, mine looks like poo now. lol

    • +1

      Worse more exclusive sales,
      Price Jacking,
non-Plus members are second class citizens

    • I was going to ask the same thing, I have never had a problem with eBay.

    • +2

The fees for selling something on eBay are outrageous. Sell a $400 phone and the fees are around $50. They double dip with eBay and PayPal fees.

    • Also, if you want most of the Chinese items, you can jump onto AliExpress and cut out the terrible middleman that is eBay.

And because it's via someone that's not eBay, they offer various shipping options and it's generally cheaper

  • If you were a member in the past, you don't get the $50 voucher by the looks of things:
"You have already been an eBay Plus member. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately."

    • the voucher isnt for the membership fee

    • +1

Go to your eBay Messages, if eBay did not send you a message with this offer, then you are not targeted (this time).
Normally, you will be targeted eventually.

    • I got the voucher. After clicking on the Ozbargain link, I renewed and the voucher appeared in Shopping Cart and applied to next purchase.

  • I am ebay (150 feedback) and last item bought 6 months ago.
I dont have any $50 offer invites
However a friend shared a link to an ebay item and upon clicking it ic ould see the join now and get $50

but I ignored it and now I am home and logged on desktop but i dont see that option anywhere.

Is there anyway to get the offer?

Also its a lump sum $50 coupon code yeah?

    Thanks

    • +1

I just clicked on the OZbargain link, renewed (a just expired ebayplus membership) and the voucher was automatically available in SHopping Cart on checkout. Too easy.

  • I signed up for this last time but never got the said voucher.

  • I have never got it either.

  • Just renewed (after expired). Clicked on the link and got a voucher code after re-signing.

See how it goes… I've re-joined each year since launch and never had to pay full price yet. (Last year was a renewal process that involved cancelling then getting an offer to renew at a discount).

Certainly I've recouped the PLus membership fee many times over in free express post/shipping and free returns.

EDIT: and the $50 voucher code is already listed when I checkout.

    • Did you get "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately." message on the payment page? Trying to figure out if I'd still get the voucher. My membership finished in March.

  • +2

Just cancelled by eBay plus subscription. Not sure how such a large company can be so incompetent. Three requests to their support team to get the voucher. All responses were that it had been raised with another team and the voucher should appear in 24 to 72 hours. Never received a voucher, same BS response each time.

More than two weeks after initially contacting their support team and still nothing. Absolute waste of time. Have cancelled the membership and asked for a refund, which they've said will take between 15 and 30 days.

    Complete joke of a company.

  • +1

Well, had no invite in my account on eBay but took a gamble and it worked for me. Had cancelled eBay plus maybe 4 months ago - pretty much given up with them as was buying way more stuff off Amazon. I needed to get a replacement iPad screen and some other stuff not really available on Amazon so….. as soon as I paid via the link, a screen popped up with the code. Just need to put a reminder in to cancel it in 11 months or so. ;-)

    • +1

You can cancel now and still keep the benefits for the 12 months. Saves you having to remember to cancel. Enjoy!

    • +1

OK - I think I can now see a possible reason for keeping eBay Plus - I put an order in for various groceries with Coles, and once I got over $49 the delivery was free. I picked a whole lot of stuff that was 'half price', and it was delivered a couple of days later in those reusable plastic bags. As I just got over $100, I also got 10% off with the current "PEAS10" code, so extra bonus there. Dunno if I'd use it to get perishables, or for anything I needed in a hurry, but for tins and bottles of stuff there is some appeal.

      • The free delivery is long standing but the 10% is only since maybe June and they keep saying it's for 1 month and then extending so no guarantees. Previously it was 5%.

  • Thanks OP

  • Do I need to use the $50 voucher on an eBay Plus item or ANY item? Am I missing something here? this seems really good as I was already going to buy a $300 item today. So if I use this deal I would be getting eBay Plus for free essentially? as I was making a purchase anyway. Really we are getting paid $1 to Join eBay Plus. ($49 fee $50 voucher) seems too good to be true. Although I know eBay Plus can be borderline useless. Free is Free.

EDIT: I've read the terms and conditions it doesn't mention the $50 voucher has to be used on an eBay Plus item, it's only excluded for certain item categories. Can anyone confirm they used the $50 voucher on a non eBay Plus item?

I'm aware the $5 voucher each month can only be used on eBay Plus items though.

    • IGNORE ABOVE. I can't use it. It says "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately."

Did anyone get this message on the payment page but still successfully get the voucher? my membership finished in March.

  • I get : You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately.

    • Same here unfortunately.

      • +3

Same message for me. Signed up anyway. Got a voucher immediately afterwards. Redeemed it immediately on a non-eBay Plus item.

        • Did you get the banner ad or an eBay message with this offer? Had you been subscribed to eBay Plus previously or had you just used the trial? my subscription expired a few months ago. I'm tempted to risk it but it would suck to buy it and not get the voucher. Thanks for the reply.

          • +1

@kuruptz: I expired around a month before I see this, no banner or anything. Signed uo with the link again and got a instant voucher during the sign up and was available in my vouchers list when I purchased

  • +2

My previous eBay Plus membership expired about a month ago but I was able to get the $50 voucher via the link today

    • Did you get the warning in blue writing that said: You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately.

I was previously subscribed but I get that warning on the payment page.

      • +3

I did. Once you made a payment, ebay will generate a 50 dollars vochure effetive immediately.

        • Awesome! Thank you for the reply. Free eBay Plus here I come.

          • +1

@kuruptz: I also got that warning message. Have you re-subscribed and got the voucher?

            • @Bargain Fighter: Really late reply, but I only just did it tonight. I can confirm it worked perfectly. I used to be a member until a few months ago and got the warning message too. But had no problem, it shows the voucher code instantly once you click to pay. The voucher also shows up on "My eBay". I used it straight away to buy something from U.S. so works internationally too.

  • Basic question: need the $50 be spent in a single transaction?

  • +4

This worked today for me, even with the message "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately."
After selecting a payment method, a new window come up with the code automatically.

    • Have done what you say but don’t see a code appearing. Isn’t it high risk to continue with the payment in case you don’t get the voucher?

      • 50$ is high risk? Anyway, you won't get the voucher until payment is made…. Do it, live on the edge be a little adventurous and not boring scared to take a small risk

        • +1

If you are in a poverty trap losing $50 is high risk…

          • -2

@povertytrap: Then you shouldn't be buying anything on ebay to require this at all. Only essentials and ain't nothing essential on ebay

      • Its going to be after the payment

  • +2

Worked for me also on renewing an expired membership despite getting "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately." Thanks OP

    • Before @willx asks "got that warning message. Have you re-subscribed and got the voucher?"

      • Yes and yes

  • +1

    Works , thanks!

  • Worked for me just now. Membership expired 20 August. Voucher appeared after paying. Thanks OP.

  • Can confirm that it has worked for me as well. Previously did a 1 month trial, so was receiving the same message about "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately." Voucher immediately showed on screen following payment.

    • So you had to pay the $49 then you got the voucher after the payment?

      • Yes, just bit the bullet and it works. Thanks OP.

  • +2

Joined just now. My trial period was expired long ago. Followed this link to join. Code did not appear straight away after joining. But found $50 discount offer on item buy now page.

  • Anyone knows $50 voucher should be used in one trasjction or can I use $20 and keep $30 for later?

  • +2

Hi Guy just let you guys know.
I got $30 and $50 both from the previous deal below
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/541595

before I activated $30 voucher and found this deal so cancelled my ebayplus and wait till my ebayplus membership finished then re-sign up.
They gave me $50 voucher right away then 2 days later sent me an e-mail with $30 gift card.

    • When did your ebayplus expired?

      • beginning of this month

        • double dip but nice…

  • I just confirm signing up for Ebay Plus using the link given in this post and after I made the payment, I got the voucher code on the final screen. I was on chat with Ebay customer service while I was doing that and made him confirm that I will get $50 so that just in case I had not received I would have a proof. As soon as I got the code, I thanked him for waiting and ended the chat.

  • +1

can comfirm still works for me, got the $50 immediately after sign-up and $49 payment. Just can't be used together with other vouchers…… does anyone know if this could be used partially or do I have to use it up in one transaction?

    • Mine appeared listed on payment page like a gift card with the amount listed. This leads me to think that you could use a part of it and the rest would still be listed similarly to when you use a GC you have entered. But cannot use it with any other coupon so when I used it i could not get 10% off Coles. Also remember only have 30 days to spend it.

    • +1

I think you have to use it in a single transaction.
I purchased something for 8 dollars last night and used it assuming it could be used like a gift card but it's now coming up as "Redeemed" and I can't use it again.

      • +1

Yep, that's pretty much what I just experienced. Contact the ebay support and they should be able to fix this for you.

        • Contacted support and they had to issue me a new voucher which they've already added to my account. Hope it works out for you too

          • @buyingstuff: did you asked on live chat??
I got the answer like this

            14:30 PM
Please know that the $50 voucher you received for signing up can only be used on time.
            14:31 PM
You won't be able to use it partially or divide it into two.
            14:32 PM
Make sure that you purchase an item which is equivalent to the voucher amount or much higher to fully take advantage of the discount.

        • Sorry to dig up and reply to such an old comment, I should have gone through this thread more thoroughly but this just happened to me and eBay are fobbing me off. Could you share what steps you went through for them to fix it for you or do you think they've simply changed their tune and no longer doing the decent thing for those of us caught out by this deceptive practice

    • +1

Can be used partially. Just got mine and used it immediately. Still have $3 left on it.

      • you sure?? Mine was still there after I used it but says redeemed and cannot be used anymore. I paid 30+ so around 10+ wasted.

        • Remaining of the voucher should be there when you select voucher for another purchase

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: true for giftcard like vouchers, but not for this one received from signing up ebay plus…

        • Add something to your cart and go to checkout, scroll all the way down and have a look-see.

          • +2

            @lordra: tried…. but no code showing…

here's a link to the voucher page

            https://imgchr.com/i/wDi8EQ

customer support said they will issue another voucher in 24 hours

            • @HD9990: good on ya for following it up and pushing back.

            • @HD9990: Sorry to dig up and reply to such an old comment, I should have gone through this thread more thoroughly but this just happened to me and eBay are fobbing me off.
