30x Everyday Rewards Points with Apple Gift Card (Excluding $20 Denomination) @ Woolworths

Take two. Full credit to @kelasen for the heads up.

Deal taken from the weekly catalogue starting 15 September.

Please note the following:

  • This deal requires an Everyday Rewards account. If you do not have an Everyday Rewards account, use this link to get 1,500 bonus points as a sign-up bonus. The sign-up bonus points can take up to 30 business days to be credited to your account.

  • The variable value Apple gift card (where you can load between $20 and $500) is part of this deal. You will earn 30x bonus points for every whole dollar you load onto that gift card.

  • Although the catalogue states the limit is 10 per transaction, some store managers have set their own limits on gift card sales (e.g. $500 per transaction, $1000 per day). You may need to split your purchases over multiple transactions or multiple days.

  • If you are planning to purchase $1000 or more in gift cards, your best bet is to go to a serviced checkout, not a self-service checkout. Large-scale purchases require additional approval steps, and it is easier if that is done at a serviced checkout with a dedicated checkout operator.

  • The older blue-coloured App Store & iTunes gift cards are not part of this deal.

Terms and conditions

  • Offer available from 15/9/21 to 21/9/21 on all denominations of Apple Gift Cards (excluding $20 Apple Gift Cards) in Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths Metro and Woolworths MetroGo only, while stocks last.

  • Excludes Woolworths Online and Ampol Woolworths Metro.

  • Standard points will not be earned on amount spent on gift cards, but the relevant number of bonus points which you qualify for under this offer.

  • Bonus points can take up to 14 business days to be loaded onto your Everyday Rewards card from date of purchase.

  • Refer to individual cards for their terms and conditions.

  • $30 = 900 rewards points
  • $50 = 1500 rewards points
  • $100 = 3000 rewards points
  • $200 = 6000 rewards points
  • Limit of 10 per transaction applies.

Additional Information

Everyday Rewards Dollars

  • 2000 Everyday Rewards points is equivalent to $10 Everyday Rewards Dollars (redeemable at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS across Australia or Caltex Woolworths / EG Australia in mainland Australia) or 1000 Qantas points.

  • Everyday Rewards points can only be converted to Everyday Rewards Dollars or Qantas points in multiples of 2000.

  • Everyday Rewards Dollars cannot be used for any gift card purchases at Woolworths unless the bonus points you earn from the gift card purchase will push your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance above the $4500 limit.

Earning Everyday Rewards Points

  • Any purchase of any gift cards at Woolworths (or BIG W) will not earn any standard Everyday Rewards points.

  • Any purchase of any gift cards in this deal at Woolworths almost always do not count towards any other bonus Everyday Rewards points promotions (e.g. spend $x in one transaction to earn y points). However, a number of people reported in the previous Apple gift card deal that the purchase of Apple gift cards counted towards targeted/personalised Everyday Rewards points promotions. It is likely Woolworths has closed this loophole, so it is best to assume Apple gift cards no longer count.

  • If you are purchasing this gift card at a self-service checkout, you should be able to see the number of Everyday Rewards points you will earn as part of this transaction in the top right-hand corner of the payment screen.

  • You will only earn bonus points on every whole dollar loaded onto a gift card. For example, if you specify $50.50 as the amount to be loaded onto the variable value gift card, you will only earn 500 bonus points, not 505 bonus points.

Paying for Gift Cards

  • Woolworths’ POS system allows split payments for gift card purchases at self-service checkouts and serviced checkouts.

  • Gift cards issued by Woolworths Group Ltd1 cannot be used as payment for any gift cards at Woolworths (or BIG W). Attempting to redeem them on gift card purchases will be blocked by the POS system and return an error.

  • Prepaid VISA/Mastercard/EFTPOS gift cards (e.g. Coles Gift Mastercards, EFTPOS gift cards from this deal2) can be used to purchase Apple gift cards at Woolworths.

  • Make sure to check the small activation receipt that the checkout prints after a gift card purchase. If it says successful at the bottom of the receipt, the gift card was correctly activated. If it does not say successful, alert the service desk of the failed activation and they will sort it out. This receipt will be printed out even if you have turned off paper receipts for your Everyday Rewards account.

Odds and Ends

  • Gift card purchases at Woolworths will earn 4c/L (or 6c/L in Tasmania) fuel vouchers.

  • Gift card purchases do not count towards the spend requirement for the current Woolworths Brick promotion.

Using Apple Gift Cards

  • You can redeem up to 8 gift cards (in conjunction with an Apple Account Balance and/or a credit/debit card) online or over the phone at Apple.

  • You can redeem up to 8 gift cards (in conjunction with a credit/debit card) in-person at an Apple Store.

  • You cannot redeem an Apple Account Balance in-person at an Apple Store.

  • You can load multiple Apple gift cards to an Apple Account Balance, but the maximum balance is $4999.

  • Apple gift cards have no expiry date.

  1. If you have a gift card where you can check the balance here, it was issued by Woolworths Group Limited.

  2. Another user confirmed that EFTPOS gift card can be used as a payment method for Apple gift cards at Woolworths.

Yes, it can be used on the Apple Education Store or EPP portals.

  • So do variable GC works or $200 max? Can you buy variable on self service?

    • +2

So do variable GC works or $200 max?

I think the variable value gift card should be part of this deal, as it is not listed as an exclusion in the deal’s terms and conditions, and it was part of the first Apple gift card deal at Woolworths. When Woolworths ran the discounted iTunes gift card deals, the terms and conditions of those deals always specifically excluded the variable value gift card.

You can always confirm this once the deal has started by scanning a variable value gift card at a self-service checkout, input the amount you want to load onto the gift card and then navigate to the payment screen where you choose your payment method. The number of points you will be awarded on the transaction should be shown in the top right-hand corner of the payment screen.

Can you buy variable on self service?

I bought a (different) variable value gift card at a self-service checkout a few hours ago. It required the self-service checkout attendant to approve the transaction, but that is standard.

      • But does variable GC, say $500, only gives 6000 reward points max?

        • +1

No, it should give you 30x bonus points for every whole dollar you load onto the card, which in your case would be 15,000 points.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Right I see, I get the reward system now. 30x bonus points on whatever amount you buy. Thanks.

      • It is good news , but I could not look for this one on the rewards app .

    • Variable $500 is fine

  • Do buying gc's count towards weekly spend bonus points offers, does anyone know? Thanks

    • +1

      • thanks

    • +3

The answer is almost always no, because gift cards are listed as exclusions for these weekly spend bonus points offers.

However, in the last Apple gift card deal, a couple of people reported that purchasing Apple gift cards did count towards their weekly spend bonus points offers (or other points boosters). There is a good chance Woolworths has corrected this in the meantime, so don’t be surprised if Apple gift cards don’t count this time around.

      • Cool, thanks for the heads up!

  • +1

I can use these gift cards for Apple one?

  • +2

Much appreciated the details provided in this post, thanks WookieMonster

  • Just confirming if I buy the Perfect EFTPOS Gift Card Today, will that card work to buy the Apple gift card for tomorrow. Sorry if it has been answered, just making sure since buying new MacBook.

    • +1

that was my question too. i just visited 2 woolies at bankstown and chullora nsw. they said it is not possible to use eftpos gift cards to purchase other gift cards…

      • +1

You definitely cannot use EFTPOS gift cards to purchase other EFTPOS gift cards at Woolworths. I tried that last night and it did not work.

However, someone else has previously reported that you can use an EFTPOS gift card to purchase an eBay gift card at Woolworths. So maybe you can purchase Apple gift cards with EFTPOS gift cards? I really don’t know now…

    • +1

One person says yes and another person says no. Who knows what the answer actually is until someone attempts it…

      • I just called Woolworths Gift card customer support and they said it wouldn’t work but he wasn’t 100% sure. He just referred to the T&C and stated this:

The Perfect Gift Card cannot be redeemed for cash, reloaded, returned for a refund, have their balances consolidated to a new gift card ,or be replaced after expiry and are not legal tender, account cards, credit or debit cards or securities. Cash will not be given for any unused amount.

So I don’t think it would work but still unsure.

        • +2
The first sentence of the terms and conditions for The Perfect Gift Card is:

these conditions apply to use of The Perfect Gift Card (gift card)

To me, when I see the term gift card in the terms and conditions, it is only referring to The Perfect Gift Card.

          When I read the following:

The Perfect Gift Card cannot be redeemed for cash, reloaded, returned for a refund, have their balances consolidated to a new gift card,or be replaced after expiry and are not legal tender, account cards, credit or debit cards or securities. Cash will not be given for any unused amount.

… it means that I cannot ask the gift card issuer to move funds from one (or multiple) The Perfect Gift Card to another. It also means that I cannot buy a The Perfect Gift Card using another The Perfect Gift Card. (Coincidentally, I tried that last night at Woolworths and the POS system stopped me from doing that.)

Essentially, because gift card is defined as The Perfect Gift Card, there is technically nothing in terms and conditions stopping you from using a The Perfect Gift Card to buy an Apple gift card at Woolworths. The only thing that will stop you from doing so is whether Woolworths has gone the extra step and blocked The Perfect Gift Card from purchasing all gift cards at Woolworths. This comment makes it seem like you can buy gift cards besides EFTPOS gift cards at Woolworths using a The Perfect Gift Card. However, until someone tries it, this is all speculation…

  • Is the highest amount for a variable card $500?

    • yep, does not matter though as you can accumulate by loading them all up in your Apple ID for up to $4,999 :)

      • Exactly - my plan then is to buy 10 x $500 for max qantas points from this deal

(Guess I could buy more in multiple transactions too)

        • +1

There’s nothing stopping you from purchasing $36,000 in Apple gift cards, so long as you only buy a maximum of ten gift cards per transaction!

  • Lets goooooo

  • so tomorrow I can just walk to woolies gift card section - and grab about 4 blank apple gift cards off the rack and when I go to self check out I just top up $500 each (as max per one gift card is $500?) Or can the staff at the cigarettes section do that for me? I just need around $1800 or $2000 worth. My local woolies have no checkout staff only the self service checkout and staff at the ciggy section.

I hardly use my own everyday rewards card for many years and I think I don't have any points there.. would that be okay for this offer?

    • You can purchase these gift cards (including the variable value gift cards) at a self-service checkout or the service desk (i.e. ciggy section).

The unpredictable factor is whether the staff will kick up a stink about you wanting to buy $1800 - $2000 worth of gift cards. Some staff won’t care, while other staff will think you’re a criminal or falling for a scam.

I hardly use my own everyday rewards card for many years and I think I don't have any points there.. would that be okay for this offer?

As long as the account is still active, it should be fine. The checkout will tell you whether it accepts the Everyday Rewards card. If not, you may be able to pick up one of the temporary Everyday Rewards cards in the store and then register that card later.

      • +2

Yes thank you - bought 4 x $500 this morning - and I was unable to do at the self checkout (the screen says please find a staff. for assistance).

I walked to the service desk lady to do that for me. And she said last time this offer was very popular and I am smart to do it this way.

Now my rewards app shows there are 60k points already.

        • Nice, I’m glad it worked for you!

  • Walked into my local woolies and the variable cards are all goneski- two dudes i see walked away with all variable value gift cards. Bastards!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡

    • Isn't there a limit of 10? Store manager should control it.

      • +1

Looks like they may have 4 or 5 each, looks like that’s all the store had. Plenty of smaller denom cards though.

  • +1

got a variable card with 500 this morning and got $150 everyday dollars of points as expected

Signage doesn't indicate variable cards are included but they are, and the only point on the self service screen I could see the points were coming were when I clicked pay (it popped up saying congrats, you have earned $150). No other visible points balance before clicking pay. Points available immediately

    • +1

      You mean 2x $500 gc?

      • +1

        Ah yep 2x

The assistant had to approve 3 times, one per card and once at the end

        • phew.. i thought how in the world you'd managed 30% rewards points. haha

  • I’m new to this so just to clarify. if I buy $2000 worth of Apple gift cards

    $2000 x 30 = 60,000 rewards points

60,000 rewards points in dollar value = $????

    • +3

60,000 Everyday Rewards points is equivalent to (depending on your redemption option)

      • $300 in Everyday Rewards dollars, which you can redeem on most items at Woolworths, BIG W and BWS across Australia, as well as Caltex Woolworths / EG Australia fuel stations on mainland Australia, or

      • 30,000 Qantas points (which doesn’t really have a fixed dollar value).

      • darn u beat me by 2 secs lol

      • Can you use Everyday Rewards dollars to buy gift cards? I can't seem to find the answer on their website

        • +1

No, except for a very specific scenario. (I answered that question in the deal post.)

          • Everyday Rewards Dollars cannot be used for any gift card purchases at Woolworths unless the bonus points you earn from the gift card purchase will push your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance above the $4500 limit.

When you purchase regular items at Woolworths (e.g. a grocery) and the amount due is $10 or more and go to the payment screen, it will show an option to pay with Everyday Rewards dollars.

However, when you purchase a gift card at Woolworths and go the payment screen (and assuming the bonus points you are earning from the gift card will not take you over the $4500 limit of Everyday Rewards dollars balance), there is no option to pay with Everyday Rewards dollars. I purchased an EFTPOS gift card at Woolworths last night and I had no option for redeeming my Everyday Rewards dollars.

The answer is also buried in clause 30 of the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Fantastic explanation. Thank you. Was going to try get into an inception-style loop whereby I’d purchase more Apple Gift Cards with my Everyday Rewards points earned from buying Apple Gift Cards.

            • @JutakuHome: Coles / Flybuys is a little different, but you can ask about it on the next Coles gift card deal you’re interested in, as it is a little complicated.

      • I spent $1,349 and got ~40,000 in points ($200 worth), but instead of adding this amount "Points collected", it has converted it to "$200 off your next eligible shop". Does this mean I need to buy $200 worth of items from Woolies in one go?

To clarify, my "Points collected" remains at what it was before buying the gift cards.

        • +2

I spent $1,349 and got ~40,000 in points ($200 worth), but instead of adding this amount "Points collected", it has converted it to "$200 off your next eligible shop".

That sounds right. If you earned enough points in a transaction for you to earn Everyday Rewards dollars, your account will immediately convert them in to your redemption choice (which in your case sounds like Money Off Shopping).

Does this mean I need to buy $200 worth of items from Woolies in one go?

No. It means you can redeem up to $200 of Everyday Rewards Dollars on future transactions at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS across Australia, as well as nearly all Caltex Woolworths / EG Australia fuel stations on mainland Australia, assuming you are not trying to buy excluded items (e.g. gift cards, tobacco, mobile phone recharge vouchers, charity donations). However, you can only redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars in multiples of $10.

For example, if you spend $42 on groceries in your next shop at Woolworths, there will be a payment option on the POS system for Everyday Rewards Dollars, and you can choose to redeem $0, $10, $20, $30 or $40 from your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance.

Your Everyday Rewards Dollars will expire 12 months from the date you earned them, so don't forget to redeem them!

Also, if you change your redemption choice from Money Off Shopping to Qantas Points, your $200 balance will be immediately deducted from your account, and 20,000 Qantas points will appear in your linked Qantas Frequent Flyer within about a business day. This is generally not reversible, so that's something to be aware of.

    • just take 15% x value of GC..in this instance you get $300 worth to buy groceries.

  • No stock of any Apple Gift Cards at my two local woolies.

Apparently, they didn’t receive delivery. WTF!!!

    • Mine had plenty. Fixed and variable amounts. Keep hunting my fellow ozbargainer

    • mine local store had plenty you need to go different places or just buy the smaller value ones (except the $20)

and as the previous post suggests even though apple check out limits 8 cards per transaction per purchase, you can preload as many cards as you like to apple ID first then make the purchase.

  • +5

Used the EFTPOS giftcard I bought the other day from the 10x points deal to pay, it worked.

    • weird. so any before you said its not possible and woolies representative advised the same.. lets see if any others tried and was successful.

      thanks for the info

      • Don't see why it wouldn't be possible I just swiped it through like a normal card.
On the side note I bought a box of cereal on the side in the same transaction too, don't know whether this mattered or not.

        • +1

The reason why people were questioning whether it was possible to buy an Apple gift card with an EFTPOS gift card is that Woolworths has set up their POS system to stop you from buying an EFTPOS gift card with another EFTPOS gift card. I tried that on Monday night, and I was blocked by the POS system.

I think the reason the EFTPOS gift card has been blocked from purchasing other EFTPOS gift cards is to stop Woolworths staff (who get a 5% discount on all gift cards except gift cards issued by Woolworths Group) from the “infinite money glitch”, where you pay $482.56 for a $500 EFTPOS gift card, then spending $482.56 of that $500 EFTPOS gift card to buy another $500 EFTPOS gift card, etc.

          • @WookieMonster: Makes sense, I think it's only limited on EFTPOS cards and it doesn't effect the other store specific giftcards.

            • @Kbob: I wonder if the restrictions is only on EFTPOS gift cards, or whether the restrictions also extend to other “cash-equivalent” gift cards sold at Woolworths (e.g. Only1 VISA prepaid cards).

I would have been surprised if the restrictions were also applied to the Apple gift cards or other store gift cards, because that doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me.

              • +1

@WookieMonster: Lucky it worked, I got worried for a bit before making my purchase lol

                • +2

@Kbob: Now I think about it, I should have tried purchasing a $20 Apple gift card on Monday using an EFTPOS gift card to put you all at ease, even though I don’t need any Apple gift cards at this stage lol

  • +1

Got my share of cards.. My local store had only 5 cards. Was going to buy new iPhone 13Pro Max, so bought 4*500. Had to do 4 different transactions and received 300$ Woolworths Rewards within 10-15 minutes. Now waiting for the iPhone13 pre-sale to start.

    • Just curious how much would the total discount end up being for iPhone 13 Pro?

      • It’s like 15% cash back as Woolworths Dollars.

  • How many cards you can put through every one time at check out? 5?

    • It let me do only 1 per transaction. I had to do 4 transactions for 4 cards of 500$ each

  • If you need to buy 10 cards, you just have to do transaction twice.

  • +1

Just purchased 3 cards in 1 transaction. Very simple and done through self checkout.

    • Did you end up purchasing the EFTPOS gift cards yesterday and use them to purchase Apple gift cards today?

      • No, didn’t want to risk it.

        • Fair enough. Someone else reported earlier this morning that it works, so that’s good to know for next time.

  • Heaps at Watervale VIC

  • +2

Thanks OP, got $1000 of cards. Check-out-chick thought I was a victim of scam, she said, "You know you mustn't give these gift card numbers to anyone else, you might be scammed." I said, "Yeah no worries, it's all for me.", she said, "Oh okay, no worries then."

Got my 30,000 points already loaded on the Woolworths Rewards site, $150 off next shop, can't complain really. Was going to buy a phone anyway, this is a nice fringe benefit.

For what it's worth, plenty of Apple gift cards available at Hunt Club, Cranbourne store.

  • the catalogue doesn't mention Variable card.. can someone confirm please? i.e points only apply when buying $30, $50, $100 or $200 cards?

    • +2

Can confirm variable card is included, just purchased 2 variable card and got the points.

    • Confirmed. I used variable cards to load each 500$ (max) and it worked this morning.

  • -1

Can I buy apple GC's using WW reward dollars? I'm assuming not, but wondering if there's some sort of loophole.

    • No, I asked the same question. Scroll up a few posts 😁

      • Damn thanks. Just trying to work out the best use of my $300 Reward dollars, might convert to qantas.

        • Buy AirPods or iPad from Big W

  • Fuming. Local store had plenty of stock. Asked for 10 x $500. Store refused saying I could have 1 as max limit is $500. Showed him catalogue and he said he could sell me 10 but only maximum $50 each!

Phoned head office. Spent 45 mins on hold/phone. They said I can buy ten. They tried to phone store. Store didn’t answer so passed them my mobile. They advised manager I could buy 10. He said no I can’t as there’s a $500 limit. They believed him!! Raised with supervisor and got told the store May set their own limits and nothing they can do. Explained it was false advertising and they’ve lodged a complaint with the catalogue team!

Ridiculous. Wasted 90 mins of my morning

    • +2

try another store. dont waste your time whn the manager is adamant with his own policies

    • Yes, go to another store. I picked up 4 x $500 cards and no objection from anyone.

Store staff was very helpful indeed. They asked me to avoid self checkout and go to one of the counters.

    • Don’t have any other stores within my 5km!!

      • 5km is nothing compared to a 15% discount on brand new phones!

    • yes that's ridiculous - I spoke to a few staff at checkout and explain what I want to do with my apple gift cards they were fully aware of this deal and said many people done it before for apple products and they even said they consider themselves doing it..

go to another woolies and do it - I think maybe do a few ks in one store and go another store.

they may think $5k in one go is dodgey and the manager probably dont want to get into trouble selling so high value of gift cards for one person.

    • +1

If you read stories like this in the news, you can start to see why some store managers are quite strict about gift card sales.

I was once told by Woolworths on Facebook Messenger that although Woolworths has company-wide policies on sale limits etc, store managers can deviate from company-wide policies at their discretion… but then when I called the Woolworths customer support hotline later and asked about that, they said that was untrue. Who knew Woolworths could be so bureaucratic!!

    • My local today had a 'store policy' of $600 max of gift cards but was more that happy (and suggested) to just split my $2000 purchase of them over multiple (4) transactions

  • Thanks everyone for your help. I picked up 4 x variable cards and loaded with $500 each.

I can see them in app under receipts as $80,$70,$80, and $70, so in total $300.

How long it’ll take them to appear as points?

    • +1

If you see “Here’s $80 Everyday Rewards Dollars” under a receipt in the app, it means the points were immediately credited to your account and was immediately converted into Everyday Rewards dollars.

  • Should I load the cards to my Apple ID first or just wait till Friday night and put in gift card details at the product checkout page LOL

I feel like I want to pick up the phone in person for the excitement part rather than convenience hahaha

    • same! prblem is there will be a queue? and i hope it wont become another tier 1 site.

whats the benefit of a pre-order anyways? unlike samsung you;d normally get freebies worth allot.

will there be shortages of iphones?

      • Pre-order, so you get your mobile before the stock runs out if there’s a shortage. I remember I had to wait 2-3 months to find stock when iPhone X was launched in 2017.

    • Pre load.

Every minute wasted in checkout will put risk of getting on one on launch day.

Dates had slipped by weeks or months last year on popular models within minutes of pre orders going live

  • Heaps at Carlingford, NSW wollies store

    • A huge stack at Woolies Metro at Boronia Park, NSW too. Got 8x $500 cards this morning
