Gaming PC with Ryzen 5 5600G, RTX 3070 LHR, B550MB, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, 500GB NVME SSD, 650W Bronze PSU $2088 + Postage @ TechFast

5600G-3070-BF

Hi folks, the Ryzen 5 5600G has presented itself as a neat option with comparable performance to the 5600X. Yes, single core performance is better on the 5600X and yes, the 5600G has integrated graphics that aren't required with a dedicated GPU. I found this video to be a pretty decent comparison (albeit with RTX 3060); TLDW version is games that run at 60+ FPS on 5600X will still run 60+ FPS on 5600G, and you're mostly looking at a few frames difference in GPU intensive games, which, considering the $200 saving in this particular build versus the 5600X equivalent, I think stacks up pretty nicely.

We looked at builds with the 5600G and no GPU various different ways, but being a new CPU the pricing just doesn't work for us to do a deal on it. Sorry!

Build times 3-5 business days or sooner at time of posting, Check website if you're reading this after posting date to see if changed.

  • Doesnt specify what brand of 3070 it is?

    • +13

If it’s Luke that means it’ll be a mini

      • +19

        I'll pay it.

        • Hehehe just joking mate.

    • +3

The brand/model may vary but we are using Gainward Phoenix primarily

      • 2 or 3 fan?

        • +8

          Tres

        • Can vouch for the Gainward 3070, been using it about 6 months (got it in a Techfast deal) and has been running with a solid overclock at very reasonable temps.

  • Also when i click the link its now $2,288.00?

    • +1

      Need to use the code

      • ah appologies didnt notice it

  • +1

Luke, does the B550M DS3H motherboard have enough space for a Pcie wifi card with the gpu in the way? Looking to add a dedicated wifi card as gaming on wifi

    Cheers

    • +2

It doesn't, no. I do have that info on the motherboard component description, for people's info.

      • Thanks for confirming. I’ll need to find a deal with a ATX mobo then !

        • +5

Giga Aorus B550 ATX is the first upgrade option.

      • can't we use 2nd 16x (4x active) slot for wifi ?

    • You should obviously defer to Luke but it looks like it would fit. One of the fans would be partially blocked although not excessively if it's a low profile PCB which many of them are.

Ethernet is better for gaming where response time matters eg competitive FPS or sports.

    • @Peter Jones - I have the AsRock B550M-HDV and it has a M2 wifi slot in case that helps

Think this is a fantastic deal, finally getting back to ~$2k 3070 systems, but find the explanation on the 5600G a little strange. Of course it'll perform similarly to the 5600X in GPU limited situations? The G's closest comparison seems to be the 3600, which is also fine pushing enough frames out to match up at 1440p+ with what we used to call mid-tier GPUs but are now $1k+ unobtainium.

In addition, the video you linked to is heavily flawed. They don't even use a GPU as powerful as the one in this system for starters (it's off by about 30%), and he mentions that he doesn't have a 3600 to compare it to either. Then the gaming benchmarks are run at 1080p Ultra? That's a limited market right there, and certainly I wouldn't suggest people buy a 3070 to only run at 1080p. Hard not to assume this video is just cherry picking scenarios to make the 5600G look good.

My best guess for using this CPU is that when cross-shopping, your customers are noting that an AMD CPU with a 5 at the front looks better than one with a 3, even if they've got similar performance, and you must be getting the 5600G at a fair discount compared to the X. What'd be so wrong about acknowledging that? Or am I way off?

    • I couldn't find a 5600X vs 5600G + 3070 comparison video, nor a 3600 vs 5600G comparison (not saying there isn't one, I just didn't see one). I thought he explained it fairly well on balance given my intention was to compare to our recent 5600X 3070 deal. Nothing really more to it than that. I certainly take your point on 1080P vs higher res monitors, but there is also the consideration that a majority of PC gamers run 1080P monitors (saw a Scorptec post about that not long ago). 3070 is of course capable of far more.

      • -1

To me, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to compare CPUs this way. I understand that a decent number of your customers might never upgrade any individual component, but in theory at least, a 5600X will match up to a future higher level GPU at 1440p+ without bottlenecking, while the 5600G will. And I still think the question of relative performance on a 3070 @ 1080p is far from settled.

Anyway, it's a great system, AM4 should provide an upgrade path well beyond anything short of 12th Gen Intel, so don't want to sound like I'm disparaging your offer. I just think it's quite disingenuous to say there's not a functional difference between the 5600G and 5600X as proven by that video

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1WivVNrD0g

      RTX3080 + (5600g vs 5600x), difference is considerable (around 20% ?)

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38Ria_EPIF8

      RTX3090 + (5600g vs 3600x), almost same, slight improvement (around 5% ?)

      I think 5600g = 3600x + iGPU

I am after an ITX 4K video editing PC. Any deals?

    • +3

Other than aesthetics, is there another reason why you are going ITX?

If you are editing 4K videos you would probably want an ATX build so that you can expand your drives etc easier, no?

      • Purely aesthetics and convenience as I have a limited space on my workdesk. I already have a NAS where I store most of my files so expansion is not really required in my case.

    • +2

Keep an eye out on sick NR200/P deals - was one recently for like $59 bucks for an amazing starter ITX case (or just a great ITX case in general). Build out from there.

      • I actually got the NR200P from last deal and am currently scouting components :)

  • +4

Hey Luke any chance of a 5600x and 3060ti deal again?

    • Yes, at $1700 price range.

      • Last deal was around $1100

        • +2

$1100? That sounds like the price for just the GPU
Edit: I see it's the CPU + GPU for $1150. Thought you meant a complete build for that price

          • @FireRunner: Yes! Praying for a 5600x 3060ti and mobo deal so I can complete my build :)

          • @FireRunner: Wow that is pretty nice.

How much you reckon you could cheapestly build the rest of the parts minus the storage and 32gb of ram?

I might do a pcpp list if I have time in my shift.

I think 3060 ti and 5600x is best bang for buck or very close for it.

I'll be trying it in 2k and 4k resolutions personally depending on the game.

Edit : I personally might go for something close to this not exactly the same but that's my ballpark

            https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/V6FcdD

The combo is about $1568 from that $2950 ish build so for me I would still need to budget in an extra $1400 on the gpu CPU combo interesting

    • +5

      Hopefully

      • Cool, can’t wait!

  • -2

For $40 more you can pick up a 3070Ti at mighty ape. Also the 3070 is a good 2 hundred cheaper and Ajay a 3 fan
    https://www.mightyape.com.au/product/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070…

    • +9

Have you accounted for the fact it ships from NZ, plus $158, plus $50 customs?

  • +1

I very rarely up vote prebuilds but it looks cheaper than buying parts.

  • Will there be a 3080 or 3080ti deal as well?

    • +4

      Not looking likely

  • Even with deals like this: PCs and next-gen consoles don't offer enough of a performance increase to justify the markup for a PC. Yes, some PC games look marginally prettier, but it's not the same as with last-gen consoles which were often limited to 30 fps. Will wait for the next generation of GPUs to roll around to even consider buying a PC in addition to my PS5 and XSX.

    • +2

Really depends on the games you like to play .
So much more on pc especially if you’re into strategy games .

  • Just wondering, why are you combining a dedicated graphics card with a 5600G which has the inbuilt Radeon Graphics?

    • so you can gift the unwanted graphic card to your relatives?

      • +1

        or give it to me

  • mini

  • How many more deals are you bringing out please? I want to pull the trigger on one but don't want to go too early. Thanks

    • normally first come first serve, so if you want to get it before Christmas, better order ASAP, or you can wait for black friday for a better deal from some other shops.

  • +1

Back to pre-covid prices. Excellent deal! Thanks Luke!

  • Wow! 3070 for $2088, that's a very good deal !!!

  • I will be mightly disappointed if I get a full sized card.

  • Does it come with original boxes?

  • How much to upgrade to a 5600x?

  • -1

Compatibility: Warning! These parts have potential issues or incompatibilities. See details below.

    any concerns?

    • +2

Probably just the BIOS for the motherboard needing to be updated before it'll support the CPU.

  • Does it come with 2 x 8gb ram sticks or 1 x 16gb?

  • not bad for a RTX 3070. what's the delivery time?

  • need a new rig since my old i7 gtx 1070 can only handle 40-60 fps on low settings battlefield 2042.
would this rig be enough to run battlefield 2042 120-150 fps to match the 144hz monitor or is the Ryzen 5 5600X RTX 3070 Ti Gaming PC: $2588 better?
    thanks in advance!

    • If an update to the horrid performance of 2042 comes out anytime soon you should be all good assuming youre at 1080p
