        • If you did click & collect prob still online order. In-store purchases received at time of purchase.

  • Would this be an upgrade over a pixel 5?

I still consider my 5 as good phone but the USBC charging port is faulty and can't hold a charge properly. I have to use wireless charging.

    • get the USB C port fixed?

    • I loved my pixel 5, sold for $349 wa while ago when the Pixel 7 was released.
If you like that phone the Pixel 7 is a good modern replacement along the same lines.
The 7a probably ok too if you are limited to wireless but agree just repair at a phone store if it's <$100.

    • pixel 5 is last in line to get free unlimited photo storage, may be wait for next model with better spec and Magic Editor

      • Skip every second model.. like I did with the 2, 4, 6 :P

    • Had a look at the 7a today. I did not like the look of the bezels. But I can see why this phone might interest people for the price.

Might just keep the 5 for now and get the USBC port fixed.

  • Can you cast to Samsung tv without any hardware?

  • Would this be a decent upgrade for a OnePlus 6? I've had it about 4 years and it's still running reasonably well and it was pretty good features for the time vs pixel 7a mid-tierish now. Just trying to work out if I'll notice a decent improvement or only marginal? I know things like Camera will be much better, but for everything else?

  • no mmwave 5G the faster 5G which is in the s23

    • not in all S23 models.

my S23 ultra straight from Samsung.com doesn't have mmwave

  • Hi,
I am new to this group.

Can anyone please help me to understand how to reduce the price to 674.10$ with a gift card of 150$?

    Thanks

    • +3

You need to put in the above coupon code to get the price is $674.1, the $150 coupon code will be given after for you to spend at JB for a different package.

    • +5

      Step 1.
Purchase a gift card from giftz.com.au (Ultimate Everyone gift card - $675), use the code 'CLICK8' which brings it down to $621. You will get an email to your gift card, but it is essentially a temporary credit card.

      Step 2.
Go to JB hi-fi and add phone to cart, add 'CLICKFRENZY23' code at checkout, this will bring the phone down to $675.

      Step 3.
Type in temporary credit card (aka gift card) details on payment screen. $150 JB gift card will be issued by email or apparently instore if you choose pickup from store (picking up mine today, so will confirm).

Can I combine jb hifi gift card and the ultimate everyone gift card to make the purchase?!

Have 250 worth of jb hifi gift card

        • Don't see why not, I have used multiple gift cards (cashing out velocity points) to purchase a fridge before

      • Thanks for sharing that.. keep us updated on your your $150 JB gift card receipt

      • i put the Ultimate Gift card numbers into the Credit card payment section (in giftcard section it didn't accept the numbers) - but i was caught by stupid verification police. My JB Account i have used a number of times already since 2019 and i opted to pick up in person - what other verification do i need to prove i am legit! JBFail. Hai…. more hoops to jump thru.

        • +1

verification team asked for card details / name / bank etc. i told them it's a gift card - they removed the check for my account and asked me to place a new order using the same account. Going ok so far. Got confirmation.

      • Click and collect pickup didn't give me the voucher. Confirmed with online chat that I have to wait for the email:

        JB Sales
Hi there! Click and collect orders will have their gift card emailed out within 2 weeks of the phone being collecte

  • I haven't looked at phones for a while. Is Xiaomi still a thing people buy? or is the pixel now the way to go?

    • +1

      Just thinking the same…

Only issue I have been having with Xiaomi is the WiFi calling not working on boost, not sure why. Something that would be super helpful for me

      • Xiaomi is pretty competitive hardware wise, software wise nah. that's where most costs are cut.

  • P7a day 3 owner here. Everything works great, upgrading in the Google-verse from P3a to P7a was a breeze, logged into my account and it pulled down all my backups/autoconfigured my homescreen/set my widgets/etc. Honestly amazed how easy it was.

Use Aegis for 2fa because google Auth still doesn't offer backups for some reason. Derrr get with the times

Everything working well, some new phone gestures to muscle memorize which is fun and there was a battery drain issue, google fixed ~14 hours after it was reported yesterday (Affected all P6->P7a phones, overnight phone drained from 90% to 60%)

This P7A doesn't offer free photo backups, will repurpose my old P3a into a photo dump drive that auto-uploads into the cloud… researching options :)

    GL HF

    • How’ve you found the fingerprint sensor? Only thing holding me back

    • Google authenticator finally added synced 2FA, so any phone with the same google account will link with the same codes (finally)!
But prob not worth the hassle if you have a lot of 2fa to bring over

      • just so you know:

backups are stored on Google's servers and are stored unencrypted, which makes them less safe (security wise)

        • +1

This is true also if someone has your login details, it will sync the codes back to the device having all your 2FA logins in the process. Quite the security issue to look over.
I have disabled Google 2fa sync for now and used aegis to export my encrytped vault to a cold storage until it's needed.

Hopefully google fixes this issue ASAP.

Still running the LG V30+ that is on android 9 and hasn't had an update since Nov. 2019. Its going strong but I know it will fail soon.

Very tempted to get this phone.

Just noting that this LG is the best phone over ever had, and I got it via JB with $400 voucher when signing up to Telstra. This was back in the days when you could then get a monthly $10 port in bonus + an extra $10/month off you plan from the Telstra chat. So ended up on a $39/month plan with this phone Ive had for years.

    • +2

Same here, V30+ user. Not looking forward to losing the reliable fingerprint scanner and fast wireless charging. But haven't seen a similar spec phone nowadays for sub-$500. Hoping to hear from others who have made the switch from V30+ to P7a and whether it was worth it.

  • No plan of buying a new phone, but this is tempting.

  • Your payment details couldn’t be verified. Check your card details and try again with JB.

This is with Credit or debit card option.

Edit: got it working, don't copy and paste the number from the card screen, just type it in.

  • Imagine if jbhifi cancelled orders

  • The JBHIFI shop can apply the 10% discount as well. Beauty of buying instore is you can use multiple gift cards. $150 gift card was given immediately after the transaction.
I finally upgraded my LG V30+ today.

    • my JB refused - you can do online in the store and choose click collect - no store purchase allowed with 10% off

      • +1

My local JB applied the 10% discount without any issue. On the receipt it shows
        "VOUCHER CLICKFRENZY 10% off
        V#92CLICKFRENZY23

I used 12 gift cards to complete this purchase and receipt is 1 meter long.

  • I was able to get the clickfrezny code applied in store (after they asked the manager). Got the phone for $674 plus the $150 gift card. So in theory you could buy a second phone using the giftcard + clickfrenzy code. Of course, this would be dependent on the stores manager.

    Thanks OP!

Still using a Galaxy S10E and have been looking for a new phone. Tossing up between this and a S23. Obviously the price is a big difference and can get a 256GB S23.

    • +1

      still using Galaxy S2

  • I have a pixel 6 with a shattered screen- is it worth going from that to this deal instead of fixing it?

Has anyone else gone from a p6 to p7a?

    • Same here except with Pixel 6a

    • +1

Not worth fixing unless you can do it yourself. Replacement services seem to cost anywhere between 200-400 from what have seen

  • I'm on an Oppo Reno Z. The screen is starting to come off. It still works, but is fair laggy. Worth the upgrade?

  • Wish there's a version that had a bigger screen.

    • 7 or 7 Pro

  • Wonder when I will receive the $150 gift card, don't want to miss out the 10% off deal.

    • 2 weeks apparently

      • When I picked up my phone today they said they will send the gift card to my email.

        • +1

yes 2 weeks for the email for it come through. but it may arrive earlier

          • @pippohippo: Yep, should've bought it instore :(

            • @Iradio: then you won't get the 10% off (unless you're lucky)

              • @pippohippo: The store applied the coupon for me and took multiple credit card payments.

          • @pippohippo: In their best interest to delay the gift card to catch the impatient buyer wanting to use it to cover the accessories…?

    • 24hrs

Still using Pixel 2 XL as daily and have a pixel 3 for 2fa. Apparently tensor g2 still not great and has heating issues. Will wait for P8 pro. Who's with me?!

    • At this price you could easily resell second hand and break even once P8 comes out and at least not have to rush to buy then??

  • does it finish 18 May as the clock struck midnight from 17 May or the entire day of 18 May is included until the clock struck midnight into 19 May?

    • you have the entire day of tomorrow. 18 May

  • cool - they should put the time so people know what they are talking about

    • The online shopping event runs from 7pm (AEST) May 16 to midnight on May 18. That’s 53 hours to shop all deals on a heap of JB tech, including new-in store and trending products, and stacks of leading brands you love.

      5+24+24=53

  • well tonight midnight is May 18

  • When does the voucher offer run out?

  • +1

didn't we all just got into a hot frenzy over a budget phone.
    slap the trembling jelly!

  • I havent seen this phone in person, I might just get one just because the deal is quite good!

what color are you guys going for for men?

    • +1

      snow

      • ok just bought one, did you get a case?

        • Blue (sea) colour is amazing

          • @hagglerforever: I got the Sea phone and case.. looks like a nice white with a blue tinge. I'm not a male though.

  • +1

^ I chose sea blue because I'm a manly man.

Finally got my order to go through using the gift card offer for further discount. Bankwest flagged it as suspicious so had to phone up to get my card unblocked lol, smooth sailing after that though. Great deal so worth the stuffing around!

  • Just bought. I tried to resist, but at $470.17, couldn't. Going to miss my LG G7.

    • $470???

      • +1

I have a use for the $150 gift card - just need to wait for it. Just to recap what is already above:

        $749 - 10% JB Discount - 8% Ultimate card = $749 x 0.9 x 0.92 = $620.17. Then $620.17 - 150 = $470.17.

        • Sorry, you already had a $150 GC?

          • +1

@mouseman99: No. I need something from JB (over $150), so it is effectively cash for me, when I get it, but I can wait.

        • Just noticed that cashback also tracked for the Giftz purchase - not sure if that will be approved, but maybe another $18.61.

  • +1

Asked JB Hi-Fi chat about when I would receive the gift card their answer below
"As per the instructions on the product page, the voucher will be emailed to you two weeks after the completion of your order - this is from the date that your order was collected or shipped."
I bought online using the click and collect with multiple gift cards (3 of them) plus the Ultimate card.
I did not notice that information on the products page.
So here is a heads up for anyone wanting to use the gift card straight away.

  • Got mine in-store today. The girl on the counter had never heard of Click Frenzy and said nobody else had asked her so everyone she served the last few days paid full price. She called the manager over and he went away and came back with a barcode she could scan to give people the discount.

  • +2

Visited store at Sydney, retailer gave discount for signing up for mobile extras care plan (12.99 per month which can be cancelled in 30 days) 650$, applied click frenzy 10% discount on top 585$ and got 150$ gift card. So, not a bad deal for effectively 435$

    • +1

So they knocked off $100 for signing up to the care plan?

      • Yes, they may have some sales target discount going on at store. I went only for click frenzy, but don't mind additional discount 😀

    • Wow! I ended up going in store but didnt hear about the 'mobile extras care' plan…darn! How did that work? I didnt do the ultimate gift card 8% had to weigh i t up with purchase protection and extra year warranty on the NAB card…the $50ish gift card discount was tempting though!

    • I was offered the care plan but declined. Certainly was NOT offered any discount on the phone for taking the care plan

  • I ordered online and picked up from store. How are they sending the gift card. email ?

    • email. the check out person should have told you that.

  • Picked up my phone yesterday. Does anyone else's phone have a loose power button? What I mean is that it only works and feels clicky if pressed directly on your middle. If I press off to the sides the button just goes in, no click and doesn't operate. Wondering if mine is defective.

    • +1

Mine feels solid all over. I would warranty it.

      • Yep, did just that. My store didn't have any in stock, so will need to wait to pick up my new one. Bit of a bummer, but not worth living with a faulty power button given how much it will get pressed every day.

  • Did anyone receive the $150 gift card from them?

    • I was told it would be sent to me within 2 weeks when I picked up my click & collect

    • When I clicked and collected I asked about the voucher, and they said they don't give it in the store as a physical voucher, but it's actually emailed to me a week or two later.

Not sure why it can't be instant??

    • I am waiting too…
