Welcome to the ultimate guide of Netflix subscriptions

Netflix has [very quietly] rolled out a price hike for Turkey and told absolutely nobody about it. I can't even find a single news article about it Well actually I found one lol. Please see the statistics section below for an interesting read. Netflix Turkey (Premium) now has a 264% price increase in just over a year! Luckily, Turkey is still safe from Netflix's Password Sharing restrictions.

Anyway, you all know the drill - new prices = new guide. This guide is the best guide I'm made so far. There are now 3 complete methods to sign up. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

This new guide has now been updated to include:

  • Further clarification regarding the 1-month lockout period for new sign-ups to Netflix Turkey. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • Further clarification regarding problems related to payment issues that arise a few months after signing up, including steps to take when you encounter the "update payment method" issue. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • Further clarification and instructions for those who wish to bypass Gift Cards and verify using a Turkish phone number via PingMe (Method 2).
  • Further clarification and instructions for those who wish to reload their account with Netflix Turkey Gift Cards.
  • New Netflix Turkey pricing and new statistics.
  • More screenshots to better guide you through the sign-up process.

Similar to my last post, I'm resharing this guide after previous deal post expired due to a price increase by Netflix. This is the third price hike for Turkey in the period of just over a year.

  • Turkey is definitely no longer the cheapest country for a Netflix subscription on all tiers, after they increased prices multiple times (Example: Premium plan from TL₺54.99 to TL₺77.99 to TL₺93.99 to TL₺130.99 to TL₺199.99 in a span of just over a year). That's a 264% price increase in just over a year!
    • However, obtaining a Turkey-based Netflix Gift Card is extremely easy and effortless, making it the easiest and therefore cheapest country to sign up with.
  • Pakistan is the cheapest country for all Netflix plans, however, obtaining a Pakistan-based Netflix Gift Card to sign up is almost impossible. Edypt is the next cheapest, but impossible to sign up for the same reason. If you have a bank card locally from these countries, feel free to sign up directly otherwise.
  • NEW Sept 2023!! Netflix Argentina is now ARS1,649 (A$7.40) for the Basic Plan and ARS3,999 (A$17.94) for the Premium Plan (in the last Netflix post, Argentina prices were ARS999 (A$6.10) for the Basic Plan and ARS2,399 (A$14.64) for the Premium Plan). In the post before that, Argentina prices were Argentina prices were ARS699 (A$4.27) for the Basic Plan and ARS1,899 (A$11.59) for the Premium Plan). Despite the Argentina Peso crashing a ton, these new plan prices are extremely ridiculous for these countries. That's a 136% and 111% price increase, respectively, in just under a year! To make matters worse, Netflix Argentina now has the new password sharing feature for additional costs of ARS699 per slot per month.

Instructions – Method #1 (Using Turkey Netflix Gift Cards)

Please read the following instructions carefully. Use this method if you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month OR you would like to use Turkey Netflix Gift Cards moving forward.

Part 1 - Ensure you have your Australian mobile number and debit/credit card saved in your account

Complete either steps (a) or (b), depending on your current situation

a. If you currently have an Australian Netflix subscription:

  1. Make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  2. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account. If your payment method is PayPal, remove this immediately and replace it will a debit/credit card.

  3. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, simply cancel your subscription and wait until the end of the renewal period (i.e. keep watching until the sub expires. Don’t let your sub go to waste since you’ve already paid for it). Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2 or Part 3

b. If you DO NOT have a current Australian subscription:

  1. Sign up and subscribe to any Australian Netflix plan (preferably the lowest cost basic plan - don’t worry, you’ll get your money back). Do not use PayPal to sign up, it must be a debit/credit card.

  2. Once you’ve signed up, make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  3. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account.

  4. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, go to Netflix Live Chat and tell them you “would like a full refund since you’ve changed your mind” - they usually don’t ask why but if they do make up some random excuse like “my sibling just signed up” or “you don’t want it anymore” etc. This should be a very fast step and take you only several minutes. The account cancellation will be effective immediately and the refund will arrive in a few hours or days

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership)

  1. Purchase a Turkey Netflix Gift Card (any value is fine, even if it's not enough to cover the full month)

Note: Choose a reputable seller and make an account so you have a record of the purchases if anything goes wrong. I recommend Turgame (I've bought Turkey Apple GC's from there and they have fast delivery (at night time AEST), they charge the same price as the gift card value and the payment gateway fee is very low) or g2a

  2. Once you’ve received your gift card, it’s time to redeem your gift card and sign up to Netflix Turkey at the same time. Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account. If you’ve logged out, please log back in now with VPN turned off (Logging into your Australian account with a VPN on gives an error)

  3. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem 1: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  4. With VPN on, open a new tab and go to the following Netflix site to redeem your gift card See this screenshot:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed

Possible Problem: When redeeming the Turkey Netflix Gift Card, it gives an error (code invalid, etc)
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed. If after several VPNs and this issue still occurs, try to reach out to your place of purchase due to them possibly issuing you an incorrect code

  5. Follow the prompts of the sign up process. This screenshot will show the first page after applying the gift card. Click "Next" to land on this page. Choose the plan you want, then click "Next" to land on the payment page in step 6

  6. Proceed by choosing a backup payment method. Be careful with this step and look at the screenshot!

    • If you did Part 1 instructions correctly then your payment method is already saved within your account - in this case, press "skip this step" at the bottom. On the next page, click "Next" (see screenshot). Now Netflix will want to confirm your details to make sure it is correct as per (this screenshot). Double check, tick the checkbox and start your membership!

    • Otherwise, if for some reason you haven't done Part 1 correctly or your debit/credit card has expired, you will have to add a new debit/credit card (see screenshot). Beward this may prompt you for a Turkey number verification (which I guarantee you don't have otherwise you would have done Part 2) - if this happens, please complete Part 1 again (see fix below)

Possible Problem: After entering your debit/credit card details, it asks for a Turkish mobile number
Possible Solution: Two causes for this. Cause (1): the problem is due to your VPN - Double check or change your VPN if needed, then go back to step 4. Cause (2): This is because you've entered a new debit/credit card. In this case, please click back on your browser and avoid entering a new card by pressing "skip this step" at the bottom. If this option does not appear, please restart Part 1 and ensure you save the card you wish to use as a backup payment.

Possible Problem: My debit/credit cards keep declining, and I'm unable to subscribe
Possible Solution: It's likely the problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed and restart the whole process. However, if VPN is not the problem, you can continue to subscribe without a backup payment method (i.e. start your subscription with just the Gift Card you bought), and then afterwards you can contact live chat and tell them you need to update your payment method by asking them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Note: If you bought a gift card that has a higher value than your selected plan, you’ve just used your gift card to pay for the first month, as well as partially for the second month. For the second month, Netflix will deduct the remaining of the gift card, and the remaining balance will come out of the credit/debit card you’ve inputted, and from thereon each month Netflix will keep charging your bank at those rates (be aware many banks like Commonwealth Bank have a small international transaction fee but this is only a few cents extra. Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees). Besides this, you should be saving >$100 AUD each year at least ($200 saving annually for the premium plan)

Instructions – Method #2 (Using your Australian Debit/Credit Card, Requires PingMe App for Turkey SMS Verification)

Please read the following instructions carefully. Use this method if you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month.

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2 or Part 3

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before starting Part 2. It has completely ended when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership

  1. With VPN off, log into your Netflix account

  2. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/
    ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem: You use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, but it defaults to one of the cities of Turkey that is not Istanbul.
Possible Solution: You want it to land in Istanbul, Turkey, so keep turning off and on the VPN until it lands in Istanbul. Confirm it’s Istanbul by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

  3. Open Netflix on a new tab and proceed to Netflix to choose your plan:

    https://www.netflix.com/

  4. Proceed by adding your Australian credit/debit card as the backup payment method.

  5. Enter a Turkish phone number for the SMS verification process.

You can use the service from "PingMe" to obtain a Turkish number for Netflix's SMS verification purposes for just a few dollars. Download the PingMe app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store. Create an account, and recharge with "coins" (credits). 1 coin ($2.99 AUD @ App Store) is enough for 1 Netflix Turkey SMS verification, but you can also buy 5 coins ($10 AUD @ App Store) for the price of 3 in case you need it in the future. After obtaining your coins, click on the "Verification" tab on the bottom of the app and follow this screenshot: select "Netflix" for the App/Website and "Turkey (+90)" for the Country/Region. Proceed as per the PingMe app and use that to validate the Netflix SMS verification process.

  6. You're done! Enjoy your membership :)

Instructions – Method #3 (Using your OlduBil Turkish Virtual Mastercard) - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS METHOD ANYMORE

Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard Required! If you do not have a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard, see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2). You can use it forever, with many deals to come!

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership).

  1. Log in to your Australian Netflix account, or sign up for an account. Make sure you log in with VPN turned off (logging into your Australian account with a VPN gives an error).

  2. Activate a VPN service, and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)

Possible Problem: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  3. With VPN on, refresh the main netflix webpage. Alternatively, go to this link:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check and/or change your VPN if needed

  4. Click on "Restart Membership" and follow the prompts of the sign up process. Click "Next and then select the plan you want. Click "Next"and then click "Credit or debit card". Enter your OlduBil Virtual Mastercard details, full name, tick the T&Cs declaration, and then click "Start Membership".

  5. At this stage you're done. Don’t enter anything on this page. Netflix will ask some random questions (just to set up your account). After that, your account will be complete, and you can enjoy your subscription!

FAQ

Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location"
A: New sign-ups to Netflix Turkey is subject to a local restriction lockout. This lockout period will last approximately 28-30 days. During this lockout restriction, you can still watch most shows and movies, but you must use a Turkey VPN to do so (otherwise an error will pop up preventing you from watching anything). You can turn off the VPN after the show/movie has loaded for faster connection. This minor hassle for a month is well worth the savings in the long term.

Q: I just got a "Payment Declined - Update Payment Method" email from Netflix. What do I do?
A: This issue is being reported by many people who have recently signed up to Netflix Turkey. There are two ways to get around this issue:

  1. You can contact Netflix Live Chat and enquire about the "Payment Declined" issue. Make sure you chat with your Turkey VPN activated. If they ask, say you're in Turkey for a holiday, or came up with another excuse. Tell them that your payment has declined and you'd like to add a new credit/debit card. They should (if not, request them to) be able to send a payment form popup directly on the chat so you can add your new payment details. If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one. Once the payment is accepted, the "Payment Declined" issue shouldn't occur ever again.

  2. Log into your Netflix account and update your payment method (Turkey phone number required). When you follow the prompts to update your payment method, Netflix will require a Turkish number. You can use the PingMe service to obtain a Turkey phone number for the purposes of this SMS verification. It will cost you a few dollars to buy credits for the purpose of receiving this SMS.

Q: My current card expired. How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: See the FAQ above.

Q: How do I add Netflix Turkey Gift Cards to my Netflix account?
A: Log in and go to account settings. Click on Redeem gift card or promo code and redeem your Gift Cards there. You should be able to do this without a VPN. If it doesn't work, try with a VPN.

Q: I get an error when redeeming gift cards?
A: This is a VPN problem. Most likely the VPN server has been flagged. Double check or change your VPN if needed. In that rare 1% chance it's not a VPN problem, you may have a troubled gift card.

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I watch Netflix?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you watch a show or movie. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Q: I want to watch a show/move that is only available from another region or country. Can I do this?
A: If you want to watch a show or movie that is region locked to another country, you can do so by setting your VPN on your phone, laptop or PC to that particular country to watch it. Yes, you will need a VPN service for this, and most VPN providers should work.

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely!

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A: Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work. If after several attempts it does not work, just go through the Gift Card method and avoid the pain

Q: Is signing up to Netflix Turkey going to affect my Netflix library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Netflix catalogue may be weird with brand new shows, etc… It might not even change anything, but if it does change, your Netflix catalogue will adjust to what you’re watching and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: See here. Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

        Using GC’s.

        • Same, but using Oldubil. I'm sure my email regarding an increase isn't far off.

  • Yes not much of an increase.

  • +1

    Received the price increase email.
So glad my 28d card got charged as normal.

Won't let me watch anything. Says your account can't be used in this location. Works when I connect to the VPN (Turkey).

    • +1

      Read the FAQ.

      • Thanks!

  • Hi,

Can't watch anything despite connecting VPN to Turkey.

Also get error code M7111-5095 but speedtest indicates I have very fast speeds (35mbps+)

    Any guidance please?

    • What VPN provider are you using?
Is your VPN actually showing as in Turkey (e.g. via whatsmyip)
Is your VPN allowing/catering for streaming? Occasionally VPNs do get tagged by Netflix (as being VPN) and disabled for streaming. Might be enough to disconnect/reconnect to be connected to a different server.

      • Express VPN
Yes, whatsmyip shows my location is in Turkey
Yes, Express VPN caters for streaming, per OP's post and is one of the recommended in the list.

I've also ensured NOT using chrome but MS Edge, have Express VPN add-in installed, but still no luck.

        • Did you also try on your mobile? (E.g. with VPN app)
Does that give you the same error?

I only have windscribe, so can't really comment on express VPN unfortunately.

          • @johnmelb: So i just tested on my mobile and:

            1. Connecting via wifi DOESNT work
            2. Connecting via cellular data streams successfully.

Now i have No idea how to go about this..

I have ipv6 turned off, would that matter?

  • thanks mate, that mobile service worked like a charm

  • I always seem to get the error 'Sorry, we are unable to complete that action now. Please try again later.' after entering the Turkish mobile number which is generated from the PingMe app. Does anyone have a solution? I've tried refreshing for multiple different numbers but can't seem to bypass it

    • Did you have to pay money for the other Turkish phone numbers?

      • No, I didn't have to pay more money. It hasn't even taken my money out yet presumably because I haven't received any texts

        • Thanks for the reply. I don't know whether I should bother trying to signup to PingMe now that you've said that.

The card I am trying to use is a new issued credit card as the previous one expired, so I kind of feel it might work if I can get past the phone verification stage, but I don't have any cryptocurrency to use, so I'd also have create and account at crypto.com and also buy some first to buy the PingMe credit. I wonder if there is another phone/SMS service I can use that doesn't require cryptocurrency for payment?

Also, does anyone know about the VPN/Smart DNS thing I was asking in a previous post? Can you still change regions to view different region's Netflix libraries if you're not sharing the account (if other people aren't concurrently logged in, just me), or has that been stopped around the time of the account sharing?

          • @Ice009: I used Apple Pay to pay for the 1 coin on PingMe.
Didn't use crypto to pay :)

            • @Bennyspie: Hi Bennyspie,

Did you ever get this working? I will look into Apple Pay (I don't have any apple devices, so not sure if I can get Apple Pay?).

              • @Ice009: Hey Ice,

I ended up simply contacting live chat support (with Turkish VPN turned on) and asking if I could get a payment form pop up directly into the chat. It bypasses the need for a Turkish phone number, you just need to get the right chat agent which will send you the form without questions. More info can be found in the QA section :)

                • @Bennyspie: Alright, thanks. I will try this after I restart the subscription with a gift card. Since it's been over a month, I guess they disabled my account as payment wasn't going through. When I went to the live chat, they guy said I first need to restart the subscription with a gift card before he can give me a form to fill in.

Having said that, I've gotten the form to pop up before, but neither of my credit cards worked in the form. I guess that is another issue. One user mentioned they allowed him to use an Australian phone number to verify. If I can do that, I assume payment should go through as my new card is updating an expired card, and when trying to enter it manually, it gets to the Turkish phone number verification phase, but I don't have a number to use.

  • Got the 'problem with payment method' after gift cards expired. Had my 28Degrees card saved.

Went onto live chat via a Turkish VPN, tried to re-enter the 28Degrees card and it failed. Entered my Commbank card and it worked. Despite a foreign transaction fee it's still cheaper than paying in AUD but not sure why the 28 Degrees card immediately fails - everything else including Argentinian YouTube transacts no probs.

  • Finally got price increase email today 22 Oct 199.99 TRY

  • 28 days for me now I can use it

    • You mean without vpn? I did the trick 3 september and i still cant watch without vpn

  • Having issues with the Netflix gift card I purchased from Turgame. Every time I try to redeem just says error occurred.

    • K after playing around with the vpn it managed to work - all good here. now the VPN issue for region lock

      • Hey could you please tell me how you got the gift card to work?
I have a gift card from Oldubil but it keeps giving me error and to try again later.
Not sure if related, but I also get captcha that I'm not sure if it's working properly.

        • +1

Yeah I had the same issue, the captcha was buggy and just wouldn't work at all. It somehow worked after many VPN disc/connect, that it finally worked.

With the subsequent GC (as I have issues adding my debit card) I later on realised that I didn't even need to be on the vpn. I used the code on the AU Netflix redeem site and it worked instantly. I managed to upload 6 months worth of credits. (this is after the account was changed to Turkey)

          • @horus85: So you set up the account using the credit card method first to change it to Turkey, and then redeemed the GC without VPN after?

            • +1

@e8s5: No, only with GC. First time you need GC to change over the account to register under Turkey, after the first month my card was declined tried getting it re-registered but with no luck, so I have just been using GC and topping up the account.
Sorry if I have confused you

              • @horus85: Ahh I got it.
                No no, thanks for explaining!
I'll try to reconnect my VPN and see if it will get the GC to work 😊

                • +1

@e8s5: Good luck its a pain.

                  • +1

@horus85: Hahaha all the things we do to not overpay 😂

  • When I try to watch Netflix, I get this message, "Your account is on hold because of a problem with your last payment. Go to Netflix.com/payment to update." That's after I received the email with price increase.
I had my Australian credit card as back up payment method. Is that causing an issue now?

    • i have the same issue, not sure what to do.

    • I have the same issue, tried to post question in this thread but got downvoted. Not sure of solution, tried FAQ suggestions but still no good.

    • I had wise as payment for months before I got similar email "on hold account" and solved through chat. Apparently on hold account has grace period of 7 days before they cut you off.
First chat I tried 28Degree but it rejected and the operator started looking in my account and found out its Turkey and I tried to use foreign card, I made some excuses to end the chat.
Few hours later on different chat session I tried Citibank also rejected. Third time lucky: Macquarie went through.
I didn't use vpn on any of these chat sessions. Hope this help.

Yeap - had the same issue. My Bankwest MasterCard was saved as a backup method and was there last time I checked few days ago.
Today was the date for monthly payment, I checked again, and my card was missing with the message to add new payment so my service is not interrupted.

I followed ISP's Live Chat instructions from the original post and got it working in minutes:

      (1) Connected to Turkey using Chrome and Windscribe
      (2) Verified that region showing was Instanbul
      (3) Logged into my Netflix (not sure if this was required)
      (4) Launched Live Chat
      (5) Connected to agent and said "I had payment declined and my account is on hold. I would like to update payment method - could you please push the form to enter the new card details?"
      (6) They asked where I live. Answer: "Currently in Turkey"
      (7) Asked what country Card I was using: "Australia"
      (8) "You need to use local card - foreign cards are not accepted"
      (9) They sent me verification code to my AUS mobile number (the one registered in Netflix account)
      (10) After getting verified, they pushed me the form, and my Commonwealth Bank Ultimate Awards was charged $5.65 (TL 97.99)

Hopefully this payment method now sticks :)

P.S. Coincidence or not, prior to all this, I also got e-mail this morning about Netflix price increase (to TL 149.99) from my next billing date: 28/10/2023.

      • I used this method and it worked like a breeze. I wasn't asked about my location or where the card was issued from. Thank you.

      • Did you have a current subscription. My account has now expired and they told me I can't get the secure form until I use something like a giftcard first to restart the subscription. I will try your method once I get it restarted.

        • Yes - I was on my last day of subscription.

      • This worked for me, I didn't get asked where I was living nor did I get a verification sms.

Credit card used: NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card

        • This is weird that some cards work and others don't. I wonder why.

Were you on the VPN set to Turkey when you went into the live chat?

      • Thank You! confirming this method still works!
        CC: American Express

      • Update 19/10: Yesterday my CBA card got charged with no problem so payment is sticking :)
Got charged new rate of TL 149.99 ($8.52).

      • Does this method still work :(

  • I just brought a Netflix giftcard from Turgame but having trouble redeeming. It keeps saying code is invalid. Using NordVPN atm. Any suggestions?

    • I had the same experience with one bought from g2a, I have contacted them to ask for a refund and if that fails I will ask Paypal.

  • Just got an email;

Turgame is blocking access if using NordVPN. OP might want to update the guide to note issues with Turgame. G2A is more reliable from my recent experience…

    • +1

No VPN needed to redeem Netflix gift cards.

    • I have had issues buying from Turgame as well

      • Agreed, issues with Turgame, with or without VPN.

        • It's likely a credit card issue. You can try different payment providers and also different cards. I used to use my CBA Mastercard but can't get it to work lately but mt AMEX works fine. You can also try g2a instead..

  • Will Turkey still be the cheapest after the coming increase in October?

    • +1

No but good luck getting a pakistan or argentina giftcard anywhere

      • Does Argentina still have their tax that made it too expensive?

  • Great work buddy, you are a life saver. I added Digital Wise card on Netflix while on VPN & added a phone no. from PING ME. Netflix has started but I hope the digital card will be ok for next month onwards. I have 50$ funds in my wise account.

    • What did you use to buy the PingMe phone number? I don't have any cryptocurrency (one of my credit cards gets to the phone verification screen).

And the digital Wise card, was region is that for? I might look into getting a digital wise card as my Turkish wise card was straight cancelled that I was using the past two years to pay with due to the new laws not allowing it in Turkey :(.

      • Are you on iPhone? if so it should allow you to pay via Apple Pay, but i'm assuming its not?

        • No, I've got Android. Haven't really ever been an Apple user.

  • Oldubil is now displaying a message that from tonight (Turkish time) that anonymous cards will only work on wesbites with the trust seal. I think I will buy giftcards and maybe Google Play credit with it to use it up.

My westpac card is expiring this month. I have a new card, same number but different CVC and expiry date. How do I update it with the Turkish Netflix settings? Cheers.

  • Just got an email saying from 1 Nov my turkey sub is increasing to 199.

  • Live chat wont push the verification code to an australian mobile number. any ideas how to get them to do that?

    • PING ME mate, you have to pay for a One Time Turkey phone no. and activate your card.Any concerns plz let me know.

  • I'm paid until early November but with all these price increases, I am thinking of either pausing or cancelling my Netflix account as I hardly use it. I have plenty of other services like HBO Max and Disney Plus which cost me less than Netflix combined and offer me plenty to watch.

That being said, I really want to thank I Smell Pennies for his hard work and for sharing his tips with us!

    • Yeah, fair call if you're not using it much. What region do you have HBO Max through? Do you have the US version, or somewhere like Argentina? How did you go about starting it up?

      • I was lucky enough to obtain a 50% monthly lifetime discount when it launched in the Netherlands.

I pay about 4 Euro which equates to around $6au per month

I also have Disney Plus which costs me about $5 a month.

As well as Prime Video which I pay annually at full price.

So yeah with all the above, Netflix isn't something that I need at the moment, but I may return when some of their exclusive content like Stranger Things returns..l

  • Am i understanding this correctly, Im only interested in watching Netflix on my TV, if by doing this Turkey method Im going to get geoblocking error messages using it on my Tv in Aus?

    • -1

I think i have been geo blocked. Have signed up with gc and on tv it says not at that location.

      • The Q&A section mentions this is a temporary 28 day or so restriction. How long have you had a subscription for?

        • Account over 12 months but had lapsed many months ago. Subscription paid this week via gc.

          • @Ginger1: How long were you able to watch without problems before? Any steps in this guide you didn't follow perfectly?

          • @Ginger1: You need to use VPN to watch for ~4 weeks. After that Geoblock will lift and you can use it without VPN.
Original post explains all this - please read it carefully, it's in the FAQ.

            • @WalterBiH: Thanx all. Now released from Netflix prison, I mean restrictions.

    • Will need to use a VPN service. I use Chromecast with google TV and vpn it works fine on tv

      • I see. So you VPN on a device (PC or phone?) Chromecast it to TV.

Does google tv mean you are able to use a physical remote to control what you watch on the tv or do you still need to use playback/control options on the device you Chromecast from?

        • No, not from a phone. chromecast with google tv works as standalone like a smart tv. It has it owns remote control. Google about it. It's very convenient.

          • @SR9: Ah yep I see, similar to using a PlayStation as a media centre. Thanks. Did you specify in your router or something that the TV's connection is to use a Turkish connection smart DNS?

            • @txb: Yes similar. I use a VPN app called surfshark to mock the location to Turkey and watch Netflix.

    • +1

Geoblock gets lifted in around 28 - 30 days.
I watched using VPN for 4 weeks until Geoblock lifted. Now it works fine on all my devices without VPN. It is all explained in ISP's main post - you need to be patient.

  • Thanks. Worked for me. Thanks.

Turgame 100 TL giftcard worked fine for me. If you are having issues with the redeeming the giftcard to selecting a new pricing tier, just keep trying with different VPNs. I used three of them but not sure which one worked. I think Windscribe.

    • You don't need a VPN to redeem a giftcard

  • -2

Why do you people bother with streaming services, just use popcorn time or download the torrent.

Stop paying netflix your hard earned cash

    • I thought popcorn tv is dead?! Loved it so much.

  • -2

What’s the point of signing up Turney Netflix and go through all these troubles, just get $6.99 Netflix with Ads in Australia, so far only saw one ad after watching a few shows and a movie!

    • Currently there is no Household restrictions only the main reason I went for it.
I live in India and we guys don't have extra device option like in other regions and I don't prefer paying separately.
There is no other way to go

  • Turns out my CC had expired but Netflix was still billing me fine. When I added the Turkish Netflix card it wanted me to update my CC info but seems to be failing.
Guess I have to switch back to Aussie
Netflix somehow, update my CC then redo the Turkish thing.

    • Yeah, they billed me this month even though my 28D expired last month. Let's see how long this can go on for.

  • Hi All,

I am thinking of changing from premium plan into standard plan.

Any idea on how to do it?

    Currently using Oldubil virtual mastercard

    • Just do it from account settings under change plan

  • +1

Was able to add in my Wise card as my back up payment method with PingMe. Thanks. :)

    • What region is your wise card?

  • Got geo lift today on day 29. Thanks!
