    Was just about to post.
    email http://i.imgur.com/khbkV04.png

  • Just got that email as well

  • Beware about buying games from them. They sent me used ones the other day.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127309

    • Did you end up returning them? If so what was their response?

      • +3

Yes, returned successfully for (electronic) refund at local store.

Staff were courteous and understanding of the situation. They suggested a swap for store stock they had on-hand but all the games from JB look re-sealed by them and I wasn't biting.

I have dealt with EB Games & WowHD and my ordered games have always been new in factory wrap. JB were the first to disappoint me with second-hand games. Apparently the games are sent from random stores.

Contacting JB on their website is not very easily found, but online customer service is responsive, unlike my experiences with Dick Smith (for example), where apparently no response is the norm.

On the positive side, I got the games in 2 days, so they were sent quick.

        • +1

When you say used games, do you mean unsealed (or JB resealed) or actual pre-owned games with pre-owned stickers? Because if it's the former, that's pretty much what every single EB and JB in Australia does. They unseal the games and sell them as new. I'm with you though, I refuse to buy any game from those store unless it's sealed. A new game should be sealed and that's that.

        • When you say used games, do you mean unsealed (or JB resealed) or actual pre-owned games with pre-owned stickers?

          These were definitely used.
Yeah, I know JB unseal games and I don't like that practice either, but these were used (and one was missing instructions). I was under the impression that these games would be sent from non-store stock, from their warehouse.

          • Scratches + dust on discs
          • broken little lug on PSP case (preventing it from closing properly).
          • completely missing instructions with one game (while all others had visible signs of use on the documentation and discs).
          • definitely not new

One game had JB's triangle (?) sticker in the top-left saying somethihng about trading-in and even that sticker was tattered. All had scratches on their case's plastic and one had a deep depression where a price sticker had been removed in the top-right area.

These were definitely used and could not be given as gifts under any stretch of the imagination. No mention of second-hand or display stock on their website. The ones they showed me in the store and suggested as a possible replacement to the ones I received were crudely sealed with JB's own shrink-wrap plastic (ie. resealed). Otherwise nearly all the game boxes on display in-store had their discs and instructions separated from their boxes with no shrink-wrap.

I'm with you though, I refuse to buy any game from those store unless it's sealed. A new game should be sealed and that's that.

+1. It seems to be no problem for other stores I've dealt with who actually send you a new game when you buy a new game.

        • I refuse to buy any game from those store unless it's sealed. A new game should be sealed and that's that.

That is why I rarely shop at EB games…

    • Last 2nd hand games i got from jb hifi were scratched.
Ended up teading them at eb gameswhere the deducted $1 as they would have to buff them.

  • If we buy an Xbox 360 from JB can you get the $100 cashback from Microsoft? If so then this could be spectacular.

  • +5

    T&C's doesn't exclude the purchase of gift cards. So $100 + $30 gift card for $100? https://www.jbhifionline.com.au/default.aspx?Z=C&action=disp…

    • I want to know if that works too..

    • +1

can anyone confirm this? that would be awesome!

    • +1

only find the link to activate a giftcard at https://www.jbhifi.com.au/gift-card/activate/, which is not at https://www.jbhifionline.com.au/, so probably wont be eligible for the $30 ecard.

      EDIT:
      found it

      https://www.jbhifionline.com.au/default.aspx?Z=C&action=disp…

    • I can't see a limit either…

each $100 gift card gets you another $30 credit = about 30% off (somewhere around there after division etc)

      • This is looking pretty damn appealing… If this is confirmed I may go overboard.

        • anyone game to be the first one to try to see whether it works? we will be forever be in your debt =)

      • +12

You pay $100 for $130 of value so it's actually only 23% off.

    • +1

I wonder if gift cards are considered pre-orders as point 3 states:

"3. The offer is not valid for pre-orders of any kind."

Also, I think they'll throw one of these in to stop people from doing it.

"5. In the event that JB Hi-Fi is aware of, or reasonably suspects, fraud or other abuse of, or interference with, the offer or if the offer is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated for any reason beyond the reasonable control of JB Hi-Fi, JB Hi-Fi reserves the right, in its sole discretion and to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any participant; (b) to refuse to honour, and/or deactivate, any eGift Card issued pursuant to this offer; and (c) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the offer, as it believes appropriate."

      • This is key "beyond the reasonable control of JB Hi-Fi" they can put in their T&Cs (and often do) taht gift cards are excluded…

    • And use these gift cards to buy Xbox brings it down to $39.

  • +1

Good deal, will using my 28Degree or Coles Master Card to buy something over $100, get the cashback and ask for a price protection once the price drop.
    NOW, what to buy?

  • +3

Has it been confirmed that JB Hifi is on the list of the participating retailers for the 360 Cashback promo?

    • +3

Yes. I need to know this too. Can anyone find T&C from Microsoft?

    • I second this question, can't be bothered calling M$ though…

  • I never ordered online from JB before, do they offer click and collect ?

    • for some items, not for the xbox 360 though

  • I wish they would have a good price for the Xbox One to use this offer on, other option is to get the gift cards I already have $95 of them

  • +1

    Price is $169 (+$10 delivery)

  • Couldn't we buy a giftcard with a mastercard and get the evoucher?

  • +8

Its more likely Xbox day not box day

  • So you could purchase multiple $100 gift cards and multiple bonuses for a larger purchases I gather by reading over the T&C.

    • Can I use multiple gift cards for my online purchase?
You can use up to two gift cards for any one purchase at JB Hi-Fi Online

      • That is for online only - I am guessing a restriction of their web based system. You can use as many as you like instore I would think.

  • hmmm also does anyone know if the spend of $100 is including or excluding shipping?

  • "using a MasterCard registered in their own name" complementary cards are a not ok?

  • +4

Please note that only 2 retailers have confirmed ( in catalogue) prices for Xbox 360, bigw bundle $98 and target $79 after cash back.

JB , HN, Bing lee and MS store can put up the price on or before 26th.
There is no guarantee they will be selling at today' s price on 26th.

They have 5 more days to adjust the price.

    • I would love someone to write up the full "scam" here on this this thing and exactly what we need to do.
I'm lucky enough to already have 2 Mastercards so I'm ok in that regard but still I'm not confident all of this works.

Just how cheap does an Xbox 360 end up, how many free games etc?

  • How long is the eGift Card expiry time?

  • +8

Folks, loving the idea that we can use this deal against gift cards. If this turns out to be confirmed (having a go myself), PLEASE don't abuse it. It wouldn't be the first time a promo has been pulled or cut short due to abuse. See below T&C from the promo:

In the event that JB Hi-Fi is aware of, or reasonably suspects, fraud or other abuse of, or interference with, the offer or if the offer is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated for any reason beyond the reasonable control of JB Hi-Fi, JB Hi-Fi reserves the right, in its sole discretion and to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any participant; (b) to refuse to honour, and/or deactivate, any eGift Card issued pursuant to this offer; and (c) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the offer, as it believes appropriate.

    • Lol your username totally justifies everything you're saying :P

But yes, I do agree with you!

    • from what I said above -

This is key "beyond the reasonable control of JB Hi-Fi" they can put in their T&Cs (and often do) that gift cards are excluded…

      • Agreed.

JB HiFi well and truly have 'reasonable control' of excluding gift cards - if they haven't excluded them then boo hoo.
They have a whole copywriting team that write these promotions which then need to be approved. If during this process they cannot 'reasonably anticipate' that people will buy gift cards then it's from their own lack of due diligence.

Buy away my friends, buy away.

      • Yes, fair enough. Won't stop them pulling the deal if they feel people are taking the proverbial though… just saying.

  • +7

Thanks OP. I have call them, they said that gift card are fine. now wait 3 days for the confirmation email.

    • +1

did they say there is any limit on the number of giftcards per person?

      • sorry, I didn't ask.

      • Nothing specified in their T&C's.

How game are you all? There are some absolute bargains on big ticket items with ~30% off… 5D3 for less than $2.5k. Galaxy S4 for sub $500. xbox one - $420.

This aint going to last haha.

        • +2

$100 + $30 does not equal 30% off. It's about 23% off if my maths is correct.

        • My mistake.

5D3 is still less than $2500 - which in my books is a steal.

        • How did you calculate a canon 5d3 at < 2.5k? They are 3495 on the site and 23% off this is 2695?

        • Canon cash back promotion

    • ok.. ordered too… will wait the 3 days…

    • Whats the number for their online store customer service? I couldnt find any number to call them on

      • there isn't one, call 038530733 ask for the online department.

        • correction - its 0385307333, however the line is closed now as its already after hours.

  • Does anyone know if the $100 gift cards are digital delivery or mailed?

It has a "recipients email address" but also your physical address on the order?

    • +2

When you take your order through the checkout, you will need to enter the recipient’s shipping address. The recipient will receive an email within one business day that includes their card number and PIN, and they can start shopping immediately on our website. They will receive the gift card by registered post within 2-5 business days.

      • thank you!
(it is all the same address for me, I didn't pick that up)

        • I just got mine by email. took two hours

        • Including the $30 bonus?

        • I wish, only the $100

  • +2

So can someone clarify, do we purchase 2x$100 gift cards from JBHIFIOnline with a mastercard, netting $60 JBHifi vouchers back, cost $200 AUD
Then using the vouchers, we purchase an Xbox 360 for $169, with $31 change remaining on the gift card?

Then we claim the $100 cashback (if offered).

Total cost is $200, returned to us is $31 change, $100 cashback / rebate, $60 in JBHifi Vouchers
    Literally an Xbox 360 for $9 AUD……..?

Surely this will be blocked or only one cashback per customer?

    • +2

it will have to be two transactions. I really doubt that you will get the gift cards delivered before Dec 26th. xbox deals will be sold out fast.

      • I beg to differ

JB Hi-Fi gift cards are perfect for a wide range of gift scenarios. They are easy to buy, completely secure and a snap to redeem. And now the same gift card can be used in-store at JB Hifi as well as online. Super convenient! The recipient will receive BOTH a physical gift card AND an emailed digital version. The gift card will be mailed via registered post and will be required if purchasing in-store. The digital version can be used at our JB Hi-Fi Online website immediately upon receipt.

You can request the card to be delivered at a date you wish. If you buy today and request today, they will email the digital version and mail the Physical card later.

        • That's correct, but if you are going to use more than one gift card it will have to be in store? Does online accept more than one gift card.

        • Maximum 2 online

        • There is a way to use as many gift cards as you like for online order ;)

        • +2

          Care to share mate? ;)

        • easiest way or no brainer way is going to JB Hifi and buy a higher value gift card then pay with your smaller gift card, or a more technical way to do with the shopping cart form… I don't know why JBHifi don't let us pay with multiple gift cards…

        • because technically it is hard to implement multi gift cards feature for online store. I don't think there are that many websites can take multiple gift cards

        • +1

          Big w and DSE can.

  • xbox 360 seems like ozbargain flavour of the month

  • What is the expiry length on JB gift cards?

    • +2

      24 months

      • funny, the email said 12 months for me

  • +3

Awesome deal but yet to see $100 cashback confirmed for JB… anyone know more about this?

Can someone remind me why I need a Xbox agn? ;)

    • Here are the terms and conditions from Microsoft for the Xbox promotion.

For full terms and conditions visit www.xbox360cashback.com.au

      • so you have to buy the xbox after 26th?

      • Thanks

"A. Make an eligible purchase during the promotional period;"

        That's very vague…

        • +1

eligible purchase meaning xbox 360-e 4GB . All other variants are excluded. Correct me if im wrong.

        • It also usually means eligible retailers as well. You can't just buy them off anyone to qualify for the cashback offer. And at the moment, JB Hifi hasn't been confirmed as one of the participating retailers.

        • maybe its not the e version its the older ones

        • I just checked the Terms and Conditions on www.xbox360cashback.com.au:

*2. The Offer is available to Australian residents who have purchased a new Xbox 360 4GB console from any Australian retailer, other than auction website retailers, between 25 December 2013 and 31 December 2013 (Eligible Purchase) (Promotion Period)

JB Hifi should qualify as an Australian retailer.

          However…

*4. For the purposes of this promotion, pre-ordering an Xbox 360 4GB console through an Australian retailer will not be deemed an Eligible Purchase. Further, the Offer is not available for products that are still awaiting arrival into store or delivery to the customer.

Does this mean that if I order the Xbox360 through JB Hifi online store (because I haven't got the physical Gift Card by 25 Dec), I need to receive the unit by 31 Dec ?
How can Microsoft track the delivery ?

        • Hi all

Can someone confirm whether buying online will qualify for the cashback offer as it will not be delivered by 31 Jan

  • just bought a $100 gift card. Hope it works

  • getting a pre-authorisation notice.. anyone else having the problem?

  • Where's this $100 cash-back? I can't see it in the Target catalogue, and xbox360cashback.com.au requires a login (but no way to get to the site to apply for one). Can someone provide a link to the cash-back deal?

    • its probably still under construction. Give it a few more days and should be live just before the promo starts.

The online Rep directed a fellow oz-bargainer to the site (mentioned in the target xbox deal post)

  • +2

Just making sure: Will this work for MC Debit cards?

    • I would assume so because it still goes through the same Mastercard network. Just press the credit CR button.

      • Thanks! I have to say, even if you aren't thinking of buying the 360, the free $30 eGift card is very much worth it to spend on other things.

  • I believe the t&c for this JB promotion says that it expires 31/12/13 OR when they meet their limit.
So there is no guarantee you will receive one if they exceed their mystery quota..
Is it 10 or is it 1000?
(edit… their quota is $200,000 worth)

    • 200k worth of gift cards. meaning $660k worth of gift cards purchased if they were all $100 min. i wonder how long it will last

      • Considering if the no. of view = no. of $100 giftcard purchases:
        So 100 x 1142 = $114,200. $85,800 rem. = 858x $100 gc left.

Better get a move on then & grab one…
