Best deal or freebie?

If you wouldn't mind sharing, what is the best cheapest, lowest bargain, or freebie have you achieved on ozbargain from the day you joined?

I believe the $10 iTunes gift cards from scoopon are the best I have got, not to great compared to those that I missed, whatever they were, care to share?

    The $9 Dell Printer.

The deal was oversold so I and many others were sent a 525w wireless printer. As an added bonus I also received a second printer about a week later when I had only ordered 1!

    • Mine is now sitting under my desk waiting to be thrown in the bin. After I saw the cost for replacement ink I went out and bought a Brother Laser printer for under $50. SO much better.

With that said, I'd buy another $9 printer in a heartbeat.

      • I'm just using mine as a scanner now. The second printer went to a friend.

you can buy 2 black cartridges from Hong Kong on ebay for under $10 delivered.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-Black-ink-cartridge-compatible…

      • Which model Brother? and how much is ink/ink refills?
i'm considering getting a new one.

        • HL-2130 is pretty solid HL-2132 is officeworks model that is just different number to avoid pricematch. It has a ridiculous amount of starter toner, maybe it's just a laser printer thing.

        • Yep I have this one. It isn't a wifi model although I just connected it to my router's USB port and it works without any drive installations! Give it a try if you get one.

I buy the toner from eBay for about $16 delivered, although I have only changed it once in the time I have had it.

    • Oh yeah! I'm not sure what was better now…

ozsale $20 vouchers with free ship and no min spend.

    • There were quite a few of these as well! If I recall correctly you could purchase a cheap item that came with free shipping, then it would give you free shipping on your next order - thus being able to purchase any item for free + with free shipping!

      • good days.

and the grays online $40(?) coupon code. ended up scoring a couple of boxes of pretty decent wine for $15 delivered

    • i second this. i scored 20+ pairs of socks out of them

    • oh that reminds me of the $20 Staples vouchers! That was great.

  • +3

6 bottles of wine for about $1 from Grays Online. Bought several boxes for between $1 and $5 which served me well during mother-in-law visits and later swapped the rest for free Fifth Leg.

    D-Link DIR-865L AC wireless router for $85 with $100 cashback https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102502
Not forgetting all the STAPLES Free $20 Vouchers.

    • Haha yeah that was an awesome deal. My D-link is sitting in the garage, in the original box, with the plastic still on.

  • +2

I used to love driving to all the different Stocklands to collect my free money.

  • The dominoes deal was amazing. $5. Never to be repeated!

  • +2

This deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62432 for a Le Creuset 28cm Cast Iron Round Oven $120 delivered.

Amazon UK cancelled all the orders due to the item no longer being available, two days later it was back at double the price.

Whilst most Ozbargainers gave up, I persisted and let them know how disenchanted I was with their obvious bait and switch. They kept coming back with excuses but I persisted until they gave in after a month of emails and filled my order refunding the shipping fee as an apology.

End result $100 delivered for something that is $400-600 in stores here.

7-Eleven sandwich deal from almost 6 years ago? I think I ended up eating sandwiches for quite some time…probably got ~$1k worth of sandwiches and Coke Zero from them. Gmail, ease of clearing cookies in Firefox and the variation of .'s in the e-mail address assisted the process.

Their barcodes are unique albeit pre-defined/pre-populated. Perhaps Myer could learn something from them? LOL.

They've smarten things up since then but even so, the Kit Kat promo was great - used to take the longer way home so I can score half a dozen of them everyday. Kinda difficult to get the barcodes, I think it took them a couple of days before they cotton onto the fact someone didn't chmod properly and left 4x zip files containing 25k barcodes in there EACH……….They've since hardened their servers and also well and truly killed any possibilities with the use of SMS instead :(

Staples was mad? I had so many orders the delivery man just dumped them outside my house from the 3rd day onwards.

EDIT: the heavily discounted crap from Amex about 2 years ago? Heck, I was working for a telco back in the day, had a fleet of PC's at my disposal so getting the deals weren't difficult. I think my plebs thought I went nuts everyday at 12.
    Recent Myer 'deal'?

Scoopon's v.me free movie tix? Service announcement - they're about to expire soon peeps so use them.

Free $10 iTunes voucher from AEC?

Stacked Groupon's $10 for those $20 Caltex Woolies voucher?

I think the best for me was/is the 5% ING rebate. The savings from that I think exceed all the other gains.

Another great deal for me was the $11 D-Link 632 router with lousy mfr firmware that became a champ after reflashing with DDWRT.

Sundry free money via gift cards around X'mas time.

    • +1

ING rebate saves quite a bit, but not as much as I'd thought. I went through my statement thinking I saved hundreds, but I've only saved $80-90 thus far.

Meaning I've spent 1.8k to save that much.

    • Yep, ING the best for me so far.

Think am up to about $300 or so, possibly over $400. Managed to get it extended by getting my sister to sign up (they sent an email offer close to my rebate expiry).

Awesome deal for no actual output required by me - I'd be spending the money anyway.

I just wish more places had pay wave - I love getting 5% off everything!

  • +1

Best deal I got was probabably the G27 that was sold by DSE for $20. Although it was a price error, managed to get one and even now its still the best deal i've ever gotten.

~$1200 from finding out about the Expedia Brazil trick here for Qantas flights to Asia.
~$380 free interest earned on Citibank Signature BT offer
$150 free cashback on Norton Mobile Cashback offer (Pay $15, get $30 cashback x 10)
$20 free masters voucher.. used at Woolies for free groceries.
    $10 x2 free itunes vouchers
$65 off a 10.1 2014 Samsung Note Tablet I was going to buy anyway.
~$80 off Coles Shopping @ Southland on 10% voucher which is near my home anyway, and $10 vouchers.
Probably about $30 of 3M Picture Hanging hooks, saving me cash at Bunnings.

Thats all physical cash savings which = cash in my pocket, rather than less cash going out of my pocket.

Then theres all the cheap goods that I've bought and saved money on, and free apps.

There have been heaps including the epic 3am sales air asia used to have. My best was probably the Sony 7.1 surround speaker package for $249 at Bing Lee. Other stores like Harveys were selling for the list price of $1199. I argued at Bing Lee I should pay less for cash so I paid $242.
