How to refer someone to Beam

The old referral program for Didi ended on 31 December and there is a new program. Old referral links are no longer valid and need to be replaced with new links. Currently, in the ozbargain system almost all links are not working due to this, can you please invalidate all referral links in the system so people can update them. I don’t have the format for the new program as I’m a new user and looking to be referred so I cannot log into Didi to get the link as I don’t have an account yet. The benefit is $10 for the referrer and $20 for the referee but not sure they come in what format as I couldn't find a valid referral link in the system to test.

GloBird appear to have changed their referral system so that non-personalised referral links expire after only two weeks, and produce a different link each time (previously it was three months before you had to extend the validity, and the link didn’t change, just validity had to be extended).
Doesn’t seem viable to keep the link valid & update-to-date on OzBargain with such a short period.
Might be better to change it to the simple “allow people to send direct message to request referral” system used for some other companies?

Yeah, my suggestion was more that it may be better to switch to the type of referral where there's just a checkbox to allow users to PM you to obtain a referral code. e.g. like Leaptel uses.
Having to regenerate and upload a new code to OZB every two weeks feels like it's probably not going to be viable / going to result in no or very few valid codes being available via the referral system. Whereas generating one on request is just fine.
Seems like people are willing to do that. 199 referrers in the system! All links are 2 weeks or less old.
@neil: FWIW my worry is how many of those will actually be valid as time runs on - the referral link itself now changes every two weeks too. Appreciate OZB will expire them, but I wonder if people will keep reentering the same link or actually get a new one each time.

I guess ozbargain hasn't had time to implement this idea. It seems to be a good idea.
With the rise of generative ai and machine learning would it be easy and possible to select your digital twins to get it. That is those who submit votes and post deals similar to you. Then anonymous_coward asked to have it changed to "https://www.roboform.com/lp?frm=offer-everywhere-referral&refid={ReferralCode}" in this comment on 19 May 2025.
But when I try to update mine (after 3 months), RoboForm still says that it should be in the original format that I mentioned (with rid= before the ReferralCode).
I tested both formats and when I use refid= and click the Buy Now button, it clearly says on the purchase page "The referral link you are using seems to be invalid. Please ask the RoboForm user who referred you to provide a proper link. Or just continue to purchase without referral. Please note that no referral credit will be awarded for this transaction."
I think that anonymous_coward must be using an old version of the software that is producing an incorrect link.
I've tested both and on checking out with either link it adds 12 months. I've changed it so BOTH links will work.
Note that the variable in rid and refid are very different and not interchangeable. rid is 10 characters, refid is 30+.

Yes, after I received a notification from OB that my referral code had expired, I entered in my referral code. (I have my referral codes listed on a spreadsheet and copy and paste them once I receive notification from OB that they have expired.)

Ah yes - there's now three options for referrals in the app, and this code is part of an "Earn Together This Summer" promotion, not the regular referrals. Could be useful to add this as another referral category though.

Are we able to add catlog_ to the list? They're a Japanese company for cat health tracking that have launched their product in Australia this year. When generating a 'refer a friend' unique code / link, it generates a unique URL that displays a generic page that states the referers discount code.
This url is formatted as:
"https://go.referralcandy.com/share/1ABCDEF?s=esp&t=cp"When the recipient opens this page, the unique code is formatted as "FRIEND-1ABCDEF" and the referred friend can input the Code as a promo code at checkout.
I think this referer a friend discount code should be input to ozbargain simply as the "FRIEND-1ABCDEF" option, not the URL

Not quite. As mentioned, referrals are highly variable, not just $50-60 max. It goes up to $110+
Do you reckon there's more than a tiny group of people who'd willingly spend a lot of time & cash to do the steps below just so someone else can reap $110+. Given this is ozbargain where people are savvy, I'd say not very likely.
They can just not do that, and still have their own referral link to pass on once they have their Revolut acct. They don't require "a key" from the referrer to get in the club. Or, they'll find a more equitable offer elsewhere and go with that.
You don't see this as a problem? Guideline says referrals should also benefit the referee. At the moment, it does not.
You may post a deal that is for the retailer's referral system, under the basis the referee also earns credit
