Lavazza A Modo Mio Minu Coffee Machine - Free (up to $25.50 Profit) after $50 Cashback @ Target

2000

20/8: As many of you are wondering where your claim validation is being 10 days now, it has been confirmed that they have been a little overwhelmed with claims and will take an extra 5 days to catch up. Also 32 free pods appear to be on their way.

Lavazza currently has a cash back promo on their pod machines until 6/9/15.
The Minu is collecting $50, Target currently selling for $49 (EDIT: Some stores are now selling at $24.50) (normally $59) so technically you can profit $1 (or $25.50) on these.
Still $49 at my local Target as of 14/8.

Like printers they love to make their money from the consumables so entry price is low, but ongoing can be high. Think the pods run about $10-$12 for 16. They are a nice compact unit though, so I grabbed one to keep as a backup if my automatic machine dies. (Cheers to my bro for spotting the special)

Some important info as per the T&Cs:
"Cash back of Lavazza A Modo Mio Minu White Capsule Machines are only available from Target and Dick Smith" so no price matching elsewhere on these ones.

Also the cash back form hasn't been updated completely from the last promo, and after submitting will tell you that its outside the (previous) valid date range but it goes through OK. You'll receive a confirmation e-mail and Lavazza state they will notify you of your claims validity within 10 days. (This has also been confirmed here)

It has now also been confirmed that multiple claims are ok

Not currently available online but should be plenty of stock across Target stores (although is listed under Clearance on Target website so may vary).

Adelaide CBD (low stock)
Northland
Merrylands
Innaloo

Sunbury (2 left, opened boxes)
Craigieburn (low stock)

and now it seems some even have it @ 50% off:

Just came out having 10 think there is 30on the shelf, priced as $59 scanned as $49, told staff it was 25% off extra at many stores, the bloke said you will have to ask his manager, It was all good to go, separated all transactions. Even the check out dude said its steal normally they code $100.

    • -1

you bought 10? how are you going to claim the cash back? Don't you need 10 different bank accounts as cash back is direct deposit to your bank? Unless they let you claim more than once for the same model?

      • I have quite a lot of saving cards due to Ozbaragin it's not even funny…
Also doesn't look like in the T&C nothing ls listed that it's one per individual.

      • How can you say that you need separate/unique bank accounts to claim cahsback of multiple units?

        • it was a question, with ? at the end. I am not sure, but unless they allow him to claim them all under his name, he need 10 different names/acc details/emails to claim?

  • Bought one at Northland about 2 hours ago at $36.75 and they had heaps left. At least I could count up to 12 (if there wasn't any behind the shelf)

  • 3 plus the display left at Southland Vic as of about 8pm. Selling for $49 there.

Just got another targeted deal via email after registering my machine to get the free capsules.

Get $99 off the milk frother with free delivery AND another free box of pods for only $30.

For those that have registered, check your emails for this deal!

    • +1

read my comment above about the milk frother.

    • +1

How much does the milk frother normally cost? You'd think if they discounted it by $99 you'd be in profit.

    • I got that deal direct from the website without registering.

  • +4

Reserved one at blacktown. I went to the layby department to pick it up, the box looked dodgy so I opened the box to inspect the condition of the machine. God I was shocked! I found the machine with all the parts scattered in the box without the proper packaging. No styrofoam or plastic covering the parts. In the water jug I can see a tiny white mould. I went to ask the girl at the layby but she wasn't interested on helping so she used the store intercom to call someone from the homewares department to come to the layby. No one showed up after a while and I asked her if there is anyone coming. She did another call went to the back to continue whatever she was doing with another girl and then after a while came back and called up again. One lady came into the layby department asking me if I was waiting for someone and I said yes. She then chatted to the other girl and left, presumably she's not from the homewares department. Then another guy came in and went to the back and was having a chat with the two girls without asking me if I needed any help. I fed up at this point and left the box in the trolley by the counter. I probably have waited about 20 minutes or so, not really sure because I didn't check the time.

TLDR: Appalling customer service by Blacktown Target and they seemed to be selling a probably returned used product.

Then I went to Merrylands and got a brand new machine for $36.75, there were plenty of stocks over there.

Thanks OP, got one from the Parramatta store for $36.75 and combined it with the 5% off paypass from the ME deal! This is amazing if they come through with both the cash back and 32 capsules.

  • Two leave at Carlingford, NSW before 8pm yesterday. $49
    No leave at Macquarie centre

    • +2

Wait so you cant leave Macquarie Centre? That must suck being stuck in a target store…

  • getting this:

We're sorry - but your claim may be invalid.

The purchase date you provided does not fall within the purchase period of
    30 March 2015 to 10 May 2015.

Check the terms and conditions for full details.

    what to do?

    thanks guys.

    • Same here. Just wondering they should have forgotten to update their website! May call and check tomorrow.

    • OP actually explained it in his post - "Also the cash back form hasn't been updated completely from the last promo, and after submitting will tell you that its outside the (previous) valid date range but it goes through OK. You'll receive a confirmation e-mail and Lavazza state they will notify you of your claims validity within 10 days."

      • +1

        This was also confirmed here

  • multiple claims are allowed, but are subject to the following: (a) only one (1) claim permitted per participating product purchased; and (b) each claim must be submitted separately and in accordance with the terms and conditions.

So to answer your question you can claim more than once, just in a seperate order, so using same name numbers, email, name would be just fine.

    • -2

can someone please confirm this with the hotline? thanks :)

      • +2

Can you confirm it with the hotline?

      • Did you forget to pay your phone bill?

  • +1

This is like getting a free printer with the replacement cardridges costing more than the printer would have been. Its just a way to lock you into buying their overpriced PODs. I'd stick to a nespresso, better off in the long run. Actually I wouldn't buy either, I use a moka pot which makes great coffee.

    • Agree about the moka pot. Unfortunately mine broke after few months. Wish there's a good sale on it cos I'd grab another one.

  • Scored 2 at Merryland NSW,about 4 left at 8.35am.None at Parramatta.

    • Was first one in at Merrylands this morning. They had about 10 on the shelf at store open. I took 2 and saw another ozbargainer take 1 as well :)

  • Got the last one on display at Airport West last night

    • +1

I was gonna grab that one too, but thought It'd be too greedy. Enjoy!

  • +3

Just bought Target at Robina QLD. It gives me further 50% discount! So $24.50. Incredible!!! Plenty of left.

    • +3

Could you post the receipt? Thanks

Edit: If you want to post receipt, please make sure you had submitted the cashback claim as the receipt copy could be used by someone else to claim for themselves

      • +1

        That's what I am worried.
Can I ask why you want a receipt?

        • +2

To do pricematch with my local Target Store.

    • Yes. Please post your receipt, thanks

  • Still plenty at dandenong plaza, but the dude at would't give me discount. So $49

  • Not sure if anyone's posted this, but for $30 shipped you get Lavazza milk frother + 16 Capsules of DECISO

    http://store.amodomio.com.au/minu-owners.html?utm_source=Lav…

    • +2

yeah i bought this deal and posted it earlier. But apparently the frother can be unreliable - see post in first page (i also summarise my experience with 3 brands of frothers).

      • Cheers, yep since my comment I did more sleuthing and found comments talking about how unreliable they are. You still think its worth rolling the dice? Surely they arent going to sell a seriously dodgy product, are they? They would've fault tested them perhaps?

        • +3

$129 frother for $30 with a free box of capsules - I figured it was worth the gamble. The deal that keeps on giving.

Just spewing the Target I went to was $49 (opposed to the $37.50 or $24.50 that some people are getting)

        • @oak: my thoughts too tbh!

        • +1
        • +1

          @bamzero:

Yeh, I get you don't pay full price for these things. Still a big discount anyway with free capsules.

        • @oak: That frother costs more than the machine itself.

Coles sells for $84 the machine with a frother included.

      • Hey edrift, do you know then how much the ALDI frother sells for?

        • +1

i can't remember how much it was but it was the most expensive out of all of them. I think maybe $35?

Honestly i think it's worth taking a gamble on the lavazza one for $30 delivered as you get the bonus free box of pods too.
I guess if it breaks, just get a refund/replacement.

I have no idea what the frother looks like, but if it's anything like the official nespresso ones that'll be pretty good! Those ones also sell for $120-130 i believe.

        • +3

@edrift: Actualy physically the frother looks very polished and hi-quality. It worked beautifully initially, and went down hill slowly after that. Be warned that you will spend your time trying to clean the contact points, hitting your fist on the lid, and swearing to the machine for wasting your time.

        • @cheapo999: thanks for the replies cheapo and edrift. I;ll speak to the Boss (aka Wife) and take it from there!

  • +1

Still a few left at Morley WA at $24.50. I'm picking mine up this afternoon.

  • +11

I have called their promotion team and can confirm that multiple claim is permitted as long as you submit each claim separately.

    • +2

      Thx for the efforts bargainfinder!

      • +1

no worries, i am just helping myself and others who has bought more than 1

  • 1st post.

2 left at Sunbury Vic @ 10am for $36.75, although they were both opened boxes that were repackaged.

  • +3

Bought one last night from Craigieburn Target for $35.76. Had 4 left. I rang the store to find out the price and was told $49 but I asked if they can check what it is scanning for and was for $35.76.

    • It should be $36.75 after 25%off.

  • Plenty Valley still got heaps at 12:30pm, like 30+ @ $36.75 each.

  • +1

    *sorry paid $36.75

  • anyone knows if this also eligible for cash back?
    http://shop.coles.com.au/online/vic-metro-roxburgh/lavazza-a…

    • coles are specifically excluded from this promo

  • +7

Just had my first cup of coffee - had to drop by Coles and buy a 16-pack of Armonico just to test it all out (which was full price and hurt as a matter of principle, but it had to be done). Not bad - better than my ½ price Carte Noir instant coffee by leaps and bounds! Thank you OP and everyone else who contributed all their tip and tricks (like Chris) and clarifications (like bargainfinder)… deals like these make me happy I'm an OzBargainer. :D Good day everyone!

    • glad you enjoy. Becareful of the hot water 1/2 hehe.

  • +1

About 10 left at Armadale Target WA for anyone interested. Scanned up at $36.75.

  • Still a couple left at Dandenong, priced at $49 but still basically free.

  • One left at Erina (on display) as at 2:00pm today. Price is $49.

    • Gone. With 15% off due to it being shelf stock.

  • +9

Broadway still have a lots! but they are selling $49. I brought 2!! During check out; even the two staffs ask me what happened? they sold many of this. Once I told them about the cash back… they ran to the shelve and get one each LOL

  • +4

Morley had 4 left on the shelf when I came, I got 1 and the person after me took 2 (you wearing full black short hair haha) so 1 left. that was around 11:30 this morning.

In midland there was 3 left on the shelf around 13:00, all 3 boxes damaged due to security wire, but full price $49.

In midland target I picked up a Telstra MF910 4g modem for $69 instead of $99. Price due to box been open but not activated ofc. Should be 1 left still if anyone is interested :)

Cant believe I drove bloody 1,5 hours one way for a cheap ass coffee machine and ended up spending more on the capsules at IGA haha :)

    • If you register online they send you 32 free…

  • Loads left this afternoon at Target Wodonga VIC

  • Claimed 9 units purchases in 9 claim forms using 9 different receipts but with same name, email, bank account and mobile number.

Got 9 email confirmations too. FINGERS CROSSED!

    • +5

Now claim your 9 free packs of 32 pods.

Then marry 9 wives and have 32 children.

    • Well done!

    • +5

      Greedy!

      • -5

        Jealous! :P

        • +2

a little, I only grabbed one for 25 in morley and left 3 on the shelf. Im not a true ozbargainer yet :)

  • Still a few left in the Brisbane CBD, but they're for $49. I cant believe I did this but I lost the receipt. I'm guessing a screen shot of the transaction won't suffice when claiming the cashback so is it easy enough to get a refund at Target? The site says 'If you purchased an item from Target and it’s not of acceptable quality or doesn’t match the description, you can return it' Doesn't quite fit either of those boxes.

    • Try going back and asking for a duplicate receipt. Or you can return it and buy it again. Also the Brisbane CBD price is negotiable. A few have got it at the lower price.

    • Target are fairly good at retrieving your receipt if you can give them a time frame and the day of purchase and the total amount.

      • Thanks badarz and jdf. Will see how I go tomorrow. That'll teach me.

  • Anyone have any thoughts about the machine itself?

I heard there's no button for espresso and lungo, and you have to manually turn it off as it's pouring.

    • That's true but I quite like it as a feature - I can't walk away while it's pouring but it's easier to customise it for different sized cups. Bit of a different process to my previous Aldi machine but worth it for the nicer coffee.

    • -1

As an oz-bargainer I would try to get 2 cups of coffee into a large cup from a single pod. You need to use it to the fullest before you throw it away. :)

      • +1

Don't do this. Your coffee will taste like crap and you're better off drinking instant coffee.

Espresso pods are only meant to pour out around 40ml otherwise it'll be bitter.

    • I've had an aldi machine, two espresso compatible machines and a nespresso U machine before this lavazza machine.
This lavazza machine is by far the most basic and poorly designed machine.
You need to turn the lever to start/stop the pour manually, eject the pod manually, and potentially empty not one but two drip trays.

If you don't know what you're doing it's easy to over extract the coffee and pour it too long which leads to crappy coffee.

However, if you know what you're doing you can make a fantastic cup. In my opinion, the lavazza espresso capsules were the BEST pods I've tried. It tastes like an actual cafe quality coffee.
It's comparable to when I used to make a coffee with my manual espresso machine.
It's better than the aldi, nespresso and generic brand pods.

      • Is it better than the Aldi machine? I bought one and have the aldi not sure which one to keep.

        • No it's not. Aldi machine is better but a lot bigger.

Coffee tastes better from lavazza though

  • Park centre at East Victoria Park all gone fyi.

  • Is there special pods for bigger size serves (lungo?) Got about 1/4 of a normal size cup but was very weak with the pods I purchased

    • Yes there are lungo pods available but I haven't tried them yet

      • Alright, couldn't find any at my local IGA, might have to go to Coles in next town.

  • just a thought, wont Lavazza just refund the $36 etc back and not the $50 ???. Either way free and happy.

  • +1

10 Left at Dandenong. I haven't opened box but I'm thinking this isn't such a great deal when you consider the pods. Seems like they have a very limited selection with Mio only model pods that isn't always on sale alot… Might be better to spend a bit more on a machine with a better selection of pods which are probably on sale more.

Edit - This seems like a cheap way to have pods.. Capsule seals to reuse pods.
    http://www.amazon.com/Seals-Reuse-Keurig-Lavazza-Capsule/dp/…

    Compatible pods https://espressoland.com.au/a-modo-mio-compatible
Not much cheaper but at least got hot chocolate.

    • +1

Free coffee machine isn't a good deal? Well I guess you have higher expectation than me and deserve a golden badge from MOD.

      • -1

Not exactly free, machine cost is built into the cost of pods. Bad if your a heavy coffee drinker. Perhaps I should cut down from my 5 coffees a day. :)

        • ???? I am talking about you take the machine home get your cashback and don't use it at all or sell it on Gumtree. How is it not free? Did Lavazza force you to buy their pods?

  • Bought this milk frother for $22.50 when I bought this free coffee machine. Seems to have good reviews. http://www.target.com.au/p/bellini-milk-frother-btmf5/544482…

    • I bought the same milk frother for $10 last year. its good but I like my coffee really hot so I put it in the microwave for an extra hot.

    • +1

Yeah I bought that one before and it broke within a month

  • I picked up what looked to be the last one from Robina this morning. :) $24.50.
I almost picked up the electric pizza cooker for the same price but told myself 'no'.
