7-Eleven Fuel App Watch - Nationwide - January 2017 to January 2022 » All Comments

  • Back down again. Werribee U98 120.5

  • Its gone

  • Rate increasing lock it.

    • Rate increasing is probably specific to your area though.

Other areas could be coming to the middle of an expensive cycle, for example.

      • I think it is increasing due to coming long weekend.

  • -2

Does anyone know how to solve "Mock Location Error"?

  • +8

U98 back down again in werribee vic 120.5

    • Should be called yoyo-ribee

    • Locked and loaded ;)

    • thanksss

    • Gone, back up to 163.9 now!

  • +1

My app crashes when I click view voucher. Tried deleting app data and logging in again. Tried another account still no good.

    • Mine is crashing as well.
Mock locations detected and logged warning comes up..

      • clear cache etc in android settings

        • No luck.
Getting the same error on Xperia z5, Pixel 2.
          How's yours?

        • +1

          @cwongtech:

Delete both 7/11 app and mock location

Then install it again. While fake location engaged close all apps. Check in google maps if it’s correct. Then 7/11 store locater then only lock it.

I had same issue working fine now on s9/ g6/redmi note 3

        • +1

@hurray: using old app version at the moment and it works fine.. Now have to make sure new app version is stable before we update :/

  • Also on new update …somtimes mocking detected and you are logged and could be suspended hahahaha

    • lol yeah right. Like they don't want your money :)

  • +1

My app currently warns that continual use of mock location will lead that your account will be suspended !!!!

  • +1

FYI guys that warning also appears when you are not logged into an account at all, so not really sure if it actually does anything..

    • Trying to scare.

    • Does your app keep crashing on "Show Voucher"?

  • Werribee U98 appears to be a price error and might just be way of checking that how many are using Mock Location. I just hope that it is not the case!

    • +1

Just wondering how it could be a test, people around werribee would be banned for locking in legitimately?

      • +1

people around werribee would be banned for locking in legitimately

They can blindly send email to all those who locked during the price error. If there are thousands mocking and locking during the price error, surely its not coincidence that all are legitimate.

Anyway, lets hope that is not the case :)

        • +5

Hehe, way over thinking it there matey :)
If they could put an end to it via the software, they would have by now.
The mock location warning is just a lame way to scare a few of the rookies off.
At the end of the day, they are getting our continued business, so I doubt they'll be banning anyone :)

        • @Rod71: Couldn't have said it better myself mate.

    • +4

      Lol conspiracy theories

    • +6

This time it wasnt a price error, instead thry ran out of 91 and had to price their 98 as 91

      • +1

Good to know, that puts all the conspiracy theories out.

  • +3

, I suggested to downgrade to previous versions, you can search and download the old version/apk from web

also to turn off auto update in Google play store for 711app.

fyi, I m using version 1.4.1 which has no account ban warning message, location mocking and locking also works.

  • +2

To everyone struggling for mock locations. Download old version 1.4.0 online.

    Follow this steps:
    1. Download fake gps app.
    2. Activate mock location for fake gps app.
    3. Wait 10s.
    4. Quickly go to mock location setting and choose nothing( no any app).
    5. Open 7 eleven app quickly and lockin the price. ( if it says mock location enabled, then close all apps quickly and try again).
    Hope this helps.

    • +1

I find that I don't have to disable mock locations, just need to pause fake gps and quickly go to 711 app while the gps location is still cached.

      • Yes but when I do that my location shows canberra or goulborn. And if I follow my steps exact weribee.

  • Looked at the QLD cheapest prices, amazed at how 98 can be cheaper than 95 by a considerable 5.2 cents/L

    QLD U95 150.9
    11-Seven Darling Heights
    QLD U98 145.7
    11-Seven Tweed Heads South

    • The u95 on the highest cycle?

  • +4

Delete updated app and download the APK for v1.4
    1.5 is awful!

  • Panda detects bit.do/8-twelve and issues the warning - "Contains malware and exploits!"

    • +2

What's the deal with 8-twelve not updating their prices for such a long time?

      • -1

It was mentioned earlier that they're not able to do it as much as 7 eleven might shut them out.

        • +2

          You're mixing up 8-Twelve and 11-Seven :) 8-Twelve hasn't been updated for two weeks.

      • Hey, I made the script. I'm not 100% sure why it's not working and I don't have time unfortunately to look into it. In any case it's not as accurate as the other tool 11-Seven. So not sure if it's worth fixing

  • What's the longest people have actually been using this for???

    • +4

A little while before this thread was started. So late 2016 I believe. Haven't paid over $1.20 since it started. Unreal.

      • Nice work, what version of app U using mate??

    • +2

I was a closed Alpha tester since 2015. Good times.

  • +2

Just an FYI (not a "new" feature), the latest version (and the previous versions) of the fuel app actually tracks all mock location detection events via analytics (Google). I do not believe there are any identifiable information attached but they can easily gauge numbers on people using mock location on the app.

    • Good times about to end? (and about 80% of the 7/11 app userbase?)

      • Well it's been there for some time from what I can tell (at least late August 2017). If they wanted to end it, they would have already.

        • I think as a franchisor they are actually making more net profits as a result of increased usage of this app.

Maybe less profit/litre though. But I'm not sure about the individual franchisees though.

        • +9

          @lightningx:

          well logically speaking…

I never went to 7-eleven for petrol before this app came out.

If it wasn't around, I'd be buying woolworths wish cards at 5% and combining with the discount to get around 12c off a litre in total.

Whilst they maybe profiting less per litre, they're profiting more overall by the people like me that wouldn't even be buying any litres from them if it wasn't for this app.

They aren't losing money with this hack - they're making money - we're just saving money and the fuel industry in australia overall makes less money but 7eleven take a larger portion of it (albeit in fractions of percentage points)

        • @nardz: Hear hear!

        • +4

          @nardz:

          well logically speaking…

same, i now buy fuel exclusively through 7-11 now due to this
previously, it was only if i was near one and it was cheap… maybe 5% of the time at best

    • +1

It would be quite easy for them to track a unique discrepancy for mock locations if they wanted to. I'm not going to state the method here but it's really super simple.

  • Has anyone actually been banned yet?

    • +2

      nope

  • So app updated yesterday to 1.5.1 and now this doesn't seem to work. Not sure if it is worth uninstalling and installing an old version. Sad sad day and looks like it is probably back to woolies with gift cards and costco.

    • +2

Just revert back to 1.4.1 APK and it works fine :) Then turn off auto updates in GP.

      • just tried 1.4.1 and 1.5.0 and for some reason they won't install even with the unknown sources enabled.

        • Hmm that's really odd, 1.4.1 is working fine on mine and I installed a few days ago..

        • Same here. Maybe we need to delete the existing app. Would that help?

        • @Vallani: i uninstalled the existing one and tried to install the apk file but got an error saying it failed or could not be installed.

        • @AsSeenOnTv:

That's odd.. I had it all working on 1.5 as well. Just reverted back to 1.4.1 for safety.

Only thing I can suggest is maybe restore your phone to factory. Or try another device.

        • @AsSeenOnTv: I uninstalled the existing app and reinstalled 1.4.1 and was able to get it to work.

  • I eventually got a fake location lock on v1.5.1 of the app, but it seemed to be much harder, took quite a few attempts.

  • Using v1.3.1, needing to attempt 4-5 times by force stop to get pass location. Is v1.4.1 more reliable?

    • It's the same on 1.4.1, bit harder than it used to be so maybe they made a change on their end, but still works eventually.

  • +2

NSW prices on the rise, good time to lock in now.

    • Still 12 stores at 120.9 but unlikely for the price to get cheaper.

      • Which store is at 120.9? The one at Lansvale South is now 123.9

        • @SBOB:

Where do you get these from? Thanks.

        • @SBOB:

Thanks mate. I'd assume there is something similar too for Vic. I'll have a search.

        • +2

          @zo0omer: There's not.

        • @SBOB: 121.9 is now the cheapest

        • @sween64:

yep, and master's website is a bit out of date..shows Ingleburn but thats currently 151.9

Currently Lithgow and Long Jetty are the cheapest in NSW

        • @sween64:

Petrol Spy does a good job.

        • @sween64: where is that? Prices hiked up again…

        • @SBOB: 134.9 now…

        • @SBOB:
          expired all 140 now

  • Hey Guys..I can't get mock locations to work on my new phone no matter what I do. Any tips? I've tried GPS joystick and Fake Location and keep getting mock location error? Never had this problem on my old LG G4..(now sadly lost) Using Mi A1 now.

    • +1

I think someone mentioned it above already.Just a refresh for people did not see it.

You can use BIG NOX to lock the price on a PC easily.

      • +1

What's the diff between Nox and Big Nox?

    • Delete both 7/11 app and mock location

Then install it again. While fake location engaged close all apps. Check in google maps if it’s correct. Then 7/11 store locater then only lock it.

I had same issue working fine now on s9/ g6/redmi note 3/Huwaei mate 10

  • Locked in 133.9 E95 Ingleburn(NSW) using NOX today. Went to use it in QLD and when they scanned the voucher they said it was invalid and had an error. Log out and back into app and had the same issue. Paid full price. Booooo!

    • Sometime it is APP's problem.Had the same issue with a coffee redemption, barcode was not displayed.Did you see the barcode?

It seems eror usually happens on a Sunday. Now I always turn the APP on and check the barcode before buying anything in 7-11.

      • Can u ask the store to check prior to filling? I tried to lig in one account into two phone and only one phone ia working and the other.

    • The error was after they scanned the code on my screen.

      • That's worrisome… Afraid to use my own voucher, now!

      • Yes when i present the bar code on my phone then it said error, i umthen use other phone log it and it works. Nothibg u can do if there is a system error.

        • In the apps FAQs, there is a question of what happens if the lock in price cannot be scanned. If too lazy to look thru app, I've copied the FAQ below.

"I couldn’t redeem my Fuel Price Lock voucher in store at the time of purchase.

It doesn’t happen often. If 7-Eleven couldn’t accept your Fuel Price Lock voucher at the point of purchase, then send an email to 7-Eleven Customer Service at [email protected] with the following pieces of information. If we’re able to verify the info we’ll credit your 7-Eleven Card with the discount you were entitled to.
          1. Proof of purchase of fuel at full price (i.e. Tax invoice)
          2. Name and email
          3. Screen shot of your Fuel Price Lock voucher, and
          4. Your 7-Eleven Card unique 13 digit number"

      • +2

You can submit a complaint and should get the amount of difference paid back to your APP account.

        • +4

Yep, I've found them to be pretty good with issues like that. Ages ago I had an issue when I pumped a few litres more than the lock in amount, and the attendant swore black and blue that you couldn't use the voucher and pay full price separately for the extra litres (I had done it before, so I knew you could) So there was a huge line behind me and I had to pay full price for the lot. Called 7/11 and they promised to train the attendant properly, and gave me a $25 good will credit. Nice. Until it happened again 2 weeks later with the same attendant. Called again and got another $25 credit. Since then I haven't pumped over the locked in amount. Yes the credit was nice, but the frustration wasn't.

        • +6

@Rod71: I would go there all the time lol

  • ouch 136.5 for cheapest diesel, I should have locked at 128.9 when I had the chance :(

  • +1

Where is the cheapest U91 you guys can find? NSW Fuel Watch website seems out of date

  • +3

Rip they're forcing everyone to update to the latest version now. Unable to mock location.

    • +1

Was able to successfully do it on the new version.

      • How?

        • Just the standard process

        • @tarken:
But it is not working now on updated app.

    • how are they forcing it?

      • +1

As soon as you start app it tells you about all the new security features.

    • yup, on 1.4.1 it's giving a message to either update or quit the app , after pressing "find my best local price"

      good days are over ?

  • +2

Creeping into the price range where there's cheaper options using gc or receipts or club cards

  • +1

How are you guys still locking in the price?

No love for me since updating..

edit: Working via Nox method. Let's see whether the voucher works.

    • Still working on Oreo. Make sure you quit one app completely before starting another app.

    • Whats a "Nox method?"

      • +1

        Nox is a android emulator

        • could you please provide instructions on Nox?

        • @mohan76: I am getting the mock locations error on Nox as well. How do I download an earlier version on nOx? thanks for your help

        • @ozbargainforlife:

Worked for me after 'restarting Android' on Nox.

Location was still the same as before the restart but no mock locations error in 7/11 app

        • +1

          @ozbargainforlife:

no need to use mockup. click on virtual location (3rd icon on right side nav bar) and set you location
          https://imgur.com/KAARNYA

        • @mohan76: Nox is not working for me, even with the built in virtual location. Need advice please

  • Updated, still worked on my LG G6.

    Bloody updates. Not good.

Maybe stop internet -> Start App -> Start internet -> locate fuel ?

  • +1

Anyone have latest lowest price for 91? 11-seven hasnt been updated

  • U91, 125.5 @ Wantirna (VIC) as of writing

  • How to solve this mock location error now ? Other then Nox

  • +2

Having root access and the appropriate setup seems to be a foolproof solution.

Hide root detection with Magisk Manager and use Mockation to set the fake location. The app has a 'Special mode' which allows fake locations to be set without mock locations enabled. This setup seems to bypass the 7/11 detection system.

Confirmed to be working with Android M/N/O with 1.5.1.

    • Thanks mate.

My device hasn't rooted so, didn't install the first part.

      Mockation worked a treat.

    • Thanks for the heads up! I downloaded mockation but just wondering where this special mode is? Or is that only for rooted devices?

      • It's in the app's Settings. And yes, root is required for Special mode since it allows a fake location to be set without mock locations enabled.

        • Does it show up in the menu itself? I'm rooted and installed it as system but no "special" option.

        • +2

@thedavemiester: Yes. Here is a screen recording I made of the entire lock-in process with v 1.5.1. I used Magisk hide to hide root and AppSystemizer to install Mockation as a system app. Running 7.1.2.

  • Couldn't get the app to Work on my Nokia 5 with FAKEGps Free.

Installed Nok and gave the same mock message. Turned it off. Restarted Nok and the spoof location worked.

  • Latest version still works fine on Android Oreo.

    • Not working in OnePlus 3 oreo.🤨

      • +1

Delete both 7/11 app and mock location

Then install it again. While fake location engaged close all apps. Check in google maps if it’s correct. Then 7/11 store locater then only lock it.

I had same issue working fine now on s9/ g6/redmi note 3/Huwaei mate 10.

        • This works great!
But if you have a Virgin sim, be sure to pop it out while you do it, otherwise you'll get the Golf error when signing in.

  • Just got forced updated this morning, still working for me on pixel 2 xl

    • also on a pixel 2 xl. no luck here.

ended up locking in anyway on real location because i'm near wantirna at the moment.

might just get a woolworths gift card at 5% off with the 4c/l off and it'll work out cheaper…

      • Yeah I've had times where it's been easier than others. Seems to work better for me when I'm on a train or bus, or somewhere where the phone takes longer to detect it's real location

        • I find cupping my hand over the top right corner of the phone helps (where gps antenna is located on my phone).

    • worked on my pixel 2 however it takes more tries

  • Forced update and working on Samsung S5 still😊

  • Omg was trying so many times to lock yesterday, no luck so just went woolworths with 4cents a litre discount.
Tried now just to see and it worked.
Ah well bad luck 711 my money is going elsewhere.

    • what have you tried and it works?

      • just as you normally would but it worked. Have tried few other locations worked couple times and warning message most other times so don't think there is any trick to it just luck

  • +1

if anyone can do a step by step that still has it working it would be appreciated… ive done it a million times today with no luck… its doing my head in but im determined to beat it!

    • +1

Delete both 7/11 app and mock location

Then install it again. While fake location engaged close all apps. Check in google maps if it’s correct. Then 7/11 store locater then only lock it.

But if you have a Virgin sim, be sure to pop it out while you do it, otherwise you'll get the Golf error when signing in.

      • cheers, already tried that several times and no luck though…

        • +1

Because you have to sign in after a fresh reinstall, be sure to lock in and then sign in. Don't sign in first.

        • +1

          @Rod71: That work :) Woot.

        • @CapMan: Woo hoo, Giddyup!

        • +1

@Rod71: I deleted both apps several times. Then reinstalled 711 and fakegps and other way around fakegps and then 7-11. Then tried to lock in while not logged in and also when logged in.

All variations dont work. I have a vodofail sim.

        • +3

@Likes2rap: OK. Here is a step by step, see if your method matches.

This is on a Galaxy S8

Delete and reinstall 711 and fake gps apps
          restart phone
Open fake gps follow prompts and lock in location
          Close fake gps in notifications
Close all apps in task manager
Open google maps to verify location
Open 711 app and pick store locator to confirm location
Select fuel type and attempt to lock in
There shouldn't be any mock location error or anything, so proceed to sign in and complete lock in.

        • +1

          @Rod71:

Hi Rod, not doubting it worked for you. But it seems that it will work for some but not not others. Finally got it to work as follows:

I deleted both 7-11 app and the fake gps.
          no restart done
Then I installed the 7-11 app.
dont open it or sign up until you download fakegps go loation spoofer free and Fake gps location
Then opened up Fake gps location and put in one location
Then opened up Fake gps spoofer and put in another location
          Then opened up 711 app.
Message came on about spoofing app being used. I closed 7-11 app. then closed both the location apps.
Then opened and closed 7-11 app 5 times.
Finally it allowed me to lock in based on location 1 price (1c more but who cares)
Then I selected number of liters and signed in to lock in the price

        • +2

@Likes2rap: Oh for sure! It's always been like that though with multiple methods. It's just a matter of finding the one that works for you. Nice to post multiple options for people to try so we can keep the cheap petrol flowing :)

        • Is this possible after the Oreo update?

        • @Rod71: this actually worked really well for me.

I was struggling to get it working again after updating the app but I followed your instructions exactly as you set out and it worked well for me!

          Thanks

        • @illumination: Installing and uninstalling APPs are hassles. In addition, the APP now can record each time you use a mock location so that you really need to be successful every time.Big Nox on a PC is recommended.

        • @Neoika: Plan to try Nox next.

However, the inconvenience of Nox is it requires you to be with a computer, otherwise yea it certainly sounds easier from the majority of comments.

        • @illumination: Excellent. I might try messing with it during the week to see if there's any redundant steps :)

  • +5

I dont think there is a one way trick to do this.. I've successfully done it last night but most probably just out of luck. So keep persisting. One thing I can suggest is install another GPS spoofing thing then use it once and uninstall. And then try the same old method using the fake GPS app then 7 11 and then turning off developer options.. Good luck!

  • +3

Ok Finally got it to work.

As has been said before, it takes a little of playing with it to get it to happen and it may work differently for each person.

I deleted both 7-11 app and the fake gps.
Then I selected number of liters and signed in to lock in the price
price locked and I feel like having a par-Tay

  • none of these solutions Are working for me. Either get warning message about enabling mock location or no warning but it only uses my real location

  • Anyone with a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 getting this to work after the recent Oreo update?

    • +2

Working no problems for my note 8 after the update. I'm not even getting a mock location error either. This is how I get it to work without any mock errors.

      1. Make sure you are logged in on 7/11 app
      2. Force close 7/11 app and fake GPS app
      3. Open fake GPS app and set fake location.
      4. Force close fake GPS app.
      5. Open 7/11 app and wait for the map (map that is transparent through the green background) to zoom in to your set fake location.
      6. Once the map is zoomed in don't press anything on the 7/11 app.
      7. Force close the 7/11 app and re-open it. Wait for map to zoom in again and then hit the "find my best local price" button.
      • You have nailed it with the app waiting to go the spoof location and force restarting the app.

  • Nox worked for me - (https://www.bignox.com) - presumably this approach can prevent all spoof detection if necessary (GPS from outside the execution environment, virtual hardware?).

However, the voucher didn't appear on my phone until I logged out & in to the 7-11 app there.

    • +1

However, the voucher didn't appear on my phone until I logged out & in to the 7-11 app there.

This is actually quite normal. I lock for two 7/11 accounts, they're logged into multiple phones.. sometimes you need to do that to force a refresh.

  • 7-11 appears to be posting different prices to the NSW government fuel check website to what is displayed in their app.

At present NSW Fuel Check shows U91 at Lithgow 7-11 is 121.9, the app shows 136.9.

    Dodgy or stuff-up by them?

Perhaps just innocent stuff-up or system fault:
    https://www.fuelcheck.nsw.gov.au/app/FuelPrice/ByLocation?la…

Their neighbours are charging more like 140.

    • This has shown the same price for several days, it doesn't seem to be updating. Annoying because I check this quite often.

      • +4

And just like that, it's fixed (in the last hour). Thanks to the 7-11 staff reading this thread!

  • -1

Now a warning when using mock locations about the warning been logged and continual use will result in account been suspended? Thoughts?

    • +2

It's been there since the 1.5 update.. Have you been reading this thread?

      • Was that the most recent forced update? To be honest, not really, but whenever the mocked location error came up earlier, I never really read it. Maybe it was the first time I've actually read it lol - got it to work regardless, just curious how new it is.

        • Yeah.. It came about with the new 1.5 update which is more likely a scare tactic to prevent GPS spoofing. But someone mentioned it also even if you are not logged in to the app so most probably a BS!

    • let them suspend - how hard would it be to circumvent that suspension? just create a new account.

either way - like i have stated here before - worst case scenario is that they lose me as a customer - and they've only ever had me as a customer while this fuel lock has been around so they're getting money from me that they otherwise would not.

If I can no longer lock fake GPS locations, I'll be buying woolworths gift cards at 5% off and combining with a 4c/l voucher.

      • +2

You would need to credit each account. For example mine currently has $70 in it.

        • if they suspend your account i doubt they could suspend your credits - because that is effectively a gift voucher. not honouring that has legal implications that they wouldn't want to poke a stick at.

        • @nardz: if you're breaking T&C's then who knows what they're permitted to do

  • why hasn't the mock locations loophole been patched by their developers?

and can't they prevent app working on emulators?

  • Did manage to fake my location on a Nokia 5.

Went into Fake Gps, spoofed location.

    Closed all programs.

    Quickly into settings.

    Turned off Developer options.

    Restarted 7/11 app.

    Can't seem to replicate it.

    Perhaps a GPS locking/time issue?

I do notice that it is almost like the 7/11 app is tied to the spoofing app.

I did a forced stop on the spoofing app and got the spoofed location in 7/11 app.

  • +1

Ok I am having some success with force stopping the spoofing app. Seems it disconnects it from the 7/11 app.

  • +1

I guess this will basically restrict usage to the app's intended purpose. I can still make a decent saving, maybe 10c per litre, potentially more if I lock in before the cycle changes, but it seems like the days of 30c + discounts have come to an end. It was good while it lasted.

  • +1

As what the others have mentioned above, Nox works. It's very easy to set it up but it just won't be as mobile as a phone but hey it works.

It does seem like the app is linked to the mock locations. On my Note 8, the developer options disappear somehow and then I have to press the build number 7x only to have it disappear when I get the error mock location is enabled. And the app for the mock locations in developer options show 7-11 and not fake gps. This doesn't happen on my old Z5 premium though. I don't know how they do that but I don't feel comfortable that they're able to make the developer options disappear, like they have access to my phone's settings. Only location permission is allowed so I'm not sure what went on. Maybe it's just my phone.

nox with the built in GPS not working :(

      Really?
      Mine seems to work.

      • Hit and miss

    • It wasn't working first time i installed and tried it but is working today. Its been 17 days, so I guess you must have restarted your pc. Just give it another go and it should work. Maybe system needs a reboot after first install of nox.

  • I just updated and normal GPS joystick method works as per nowmal first attempt.

    1. GpS joystick on. With Wantirna set.
    2. Started 711 app
    3. It forced an update

        • Cheers

        • Edit: Nevermind. Nox is a PC application.

    • +2

Do not install any mock location APP.You do not need it at all.

Only click the third icon listed on the right in your picture to set your location.

You may need to restart NOX when first time using it.

I use mohan76's picture to illustrate.

      https://imgur.com/KAARNYA

      • Didn't use any other mock app.Just using nox virtual location.

      • Beautiful. Works so easy. For those wondering, you can get the fuel lock to show up on your phone by relogging into your 7 11 account. The fuel lock you got on Nox on the PC will show up there.

  • +3

I finally got mine too work last night after lots of frustration.

    This was my technique.

Uninstall both GPS joystick and 7 eleven apps.

Reinstall GPS joystick and set location followed by ensuring that it has worked in Google maps.

    Then uninstall GPS joystick.

Install 7 eleven app and go to store finder to make sure it is set to mock location, then fuel lock.

    This seemed to work.

    • Thanks so much this worked great for me

  • How do you guys get the Nox lock to your phone?

    • +1

Open and close 7-eleven app a couple of times or restart your phone.

  • Here's my solution for android users:

    1. Uninstall your 7 eleven and fake gps app.

    2. Restart your phone and reinstall 7 eleven and fake gps app.

    3. Open the fake gps app and set your location. After the location is set press pause and exit the app (it is important to not open the 7 eleven app before this step).

    4. Now open the 7 eleven app and lock in your best price.

It may also work if you just restart your phone and follow step 3 and 4 without deleting and reinstalling the app.

    • How do you pause on fake gps? I can only see the icon to “play” and “stop”

      • You probably have a different fake gps app. Just press stop. The nox player method is also very good.

  • Big Nox is giving mock location error. Please help!

Mobile phone is also giving same error using Fake GPS App.

    • Try restarting nox

    • For nox don't use fake gps and they is a location button on the left column and press it, add location and lock feul.

  • Struggled with the app and mock location after the latest update on my phone.

Installed Nox. Set location. Had to restart Android to avoid the mock location error, then fired up the 7 Eleven app straight away and ran a check and it kept the same location. Easy peasy.

Cheapest 98 at the moment is $1.40 at the 7 Eleven in Belmont VIC 3216.

  • +13

even when i disable mock location it still comes up with the warning.

if you clear the app data however, it lets you lock in - though that would mean you have to log in again.

It looks like they're somehow locking in a local flag when it detects mock location that isn't clearable in the short term.

so i would suggest the process would be: (still to be fine tuned)

    1. clear data in 7eleven
    2. set fake location
    3. open google maps. let it load current (fake) location
    4. disable mock locations
    5. open google maps, make sure fake location is still active
    6. open 7eleven.
    7. lock in price.
    8. login.
    9. lock.

    pixel 2xl running android 8.1

    • This worked for me, You just need to keep tapping the mock location error message and it eventually locks the price in.

    • Nice work champ, made me lock in one go again.

    • This worked for me with no error message.

      Pixel android 8.1

    • Thank you kind sir, I feel like removing the data and just using the old method works just as well.

Think they're starting to catch on to us haha.

For nox, don't use fake GPS. There is a location button thing in the left column and use that to fake your location and you won't get mock location error.

  • anyone else having an issue with fake gps? when I first open up google maps, it will think it is where fakegps has been set, then it will find my actual location..

Below is how it works for me and seems like the least hassle can be done on mobile.

    1. Open Fake GPS app, mock location.
    2. Open 7/11 app, store finder to ensure mock successfully, restart 7/11 if not working
    3. Uninstall fake GPS app
    4. Close and open 7/11 app, store finder to ensure mock location still there. Either repeat above or stop here if it shows your current location. Save your time to complete the while process.
    5. When it is successful, Uninstall then install 7/11 app.
    6. Store finder should display mock location
    7. Lock your fuel price
    8. Install fake GPS app, start then stop mock location so that you can use google map etc.
    • Hahah right under the comment that says keep quiet about it. I think we have gone over the process 100 times in this thread

  • So I have been doing some refining of my lock in routine, and here's what I have come up with. The first lock in process is a little long, but once you have done it once, subsequent lock ins are dead easy!

This is on a Galaxy S8
*** First Time Lock In ***
Delete and reinstall 711 and fake gps apps
    restart phone
Open fake gps follow prompts and lock in location
    Close fake gps in notifications
Close all apps in task manager
Open google maps to verify location
Open 711 app and pick store locator to confirm location
Select fuel type and attempt to lock in
There shouldn't be any mock location error or anything, so proceed to sign in and complete lock in.

    *** Subsequent Lock Ins ***
    Restart phone
Open fake gps and choose location
Close fake gps in notifications and task manager
Open 711 app and click store finder to confirm location
    Lock it in!

    • What do you mean by task manager? How do I access it?

      • +1

On my S8 its the bottom left soft button. On my old S4 you'd hold the middle button in. It will bring up all open programs, and there is a close all button to stop them. Apologies if task manager is the wrong terminology.

        • Yeah. Thought you meant that.

    • Too many steps.. Its easier to clear data of the 711 app. Set fake GPS location. Open maps, once fake location is targeted. Pause fake GPS then open 711.

      100%works every time!

  • Fule going upto 1.50 in Melbourne.

  • It looks like somehow the 7-11 app is pretending to be a GPS mocking app taking over the GPS mocking option in developer options. I wonder how it's doing that, don't think I've ever granted permission for it to do that…

    • depends what version of android you have and so the granularity of permissions granted when you install apps.

it’s one of the reasons you upgrade to newer versions of android, permission granularity for apps.

      • I suppose, but android oreo is pretty new though.

  • +2

I managed to lock following the usual procedure, but clearing 7 ELEVEN app data first.
    1. 711 and Fake GPS closed
    2. 711 clear data
    3. Fake GPS to location (mocked location active)
    4. Stay at that location for some seconds. Stop Fake GPS and close the app.
    5. Open 711, search and lock price.
    6. Login and lock price again.

You might receive an error message on step 5. Just quickly click the message 4-5 times and the map will eventually open without problems.

I find it interesting how hard 711 is fighting to block the mock location stuff. I am another one that only goes to 711 because I can use the fake location and get a good price (I got good prices 2x without mocking location). If I can't, bye 7-11.

    • Strangely enough, they've actually made it easier for me after the last update lol

  • ULP98 at 173/L in Fairfield Gardens WTF

  • +1

I have been 100% successful uninstalling the 7-11 app and reinstalling it with the fake location engaged, no need to quickly shut down the GPS app just lock away with the GPS spoof still running. No warnings or issues, even after a couple of minutes. It's a little bit more involved but probably on average takes no longer that it used to with a few unsuccessful attempts.

  • +3

    Hampton Park VIC - P95 is $ 1.28

Still working on my mate 10. App ver 1.5.1 (950)
    1. Set fake GPS location.
    2.Run 7-11 app
    3. Swipe down notifications and disable fake gps
    4. Close fake gps app
    5. Lock in

There seems to be a small delay from when you turn fake GPS off and when the phone updates the correct GPS location, that's when you can lock in. Funny enough I've rebooted my phone and both apps were still running, 7-11 couldn't detect that I was using a fake gps, could change locations and lock in without disabling fake gps

Filled up today using the 131.5 98 last week from Hampton Park, VIC whilst my local was 172c/L, such an amazing thread! Thank you everyone for contributing so far.

    • I filled up using the 128.5 for 98 from Algester. The servo I was at still had it at 156 but the attendant was really suspicious lol

  • I've tried all the methods listed so far but I've found that the 7-11 app lists itself as a mock location app as soon as FAKEGPS is turned on.

The only way to get the 7-11 app to work is to turn off mock location which then disables my mock location immediately.

Nothing I've tried so far works unfortunately. Frustrating!

    • What phone are you using, have you tried uninstalling the 7-11app like I mentioned above?

      • Yup I have. On a Note 4 running Android 6.

The 7-11 app hacks my Mock location settings as soon as the app is opened. And it won't work unless I turn off mock locations.

The frustrating thing is that as soon as I turn off mock locations, the fake location switches off :(

@LoveBargain15: Honestly. I'd be embarrassed pumping 50 litres and handing over 5c with a straight face.

        • @Rod71: they have competitions where you can win free fuel, os if they honour it consider yourself one of those winners because you had better odds.

if they don’t honour it make sure you wanted the fuel at the pump price …… i think in court your 0.1c litre wouldn’t pass the reasonable person test.

often stores apologise for published pricing errors and get you to pay the correct price if you want the goods .

problem with fuel is giving it back ……. do they scan code and then you fill up, or you fill up and discount is applied ….. never bought from 7/11 fuel.

        • @garage sale:

You fill up then you go into the shop and fill up and scan the bar code.

It is fair if they honor and it is a shame if they did not. They should send email to all people who lock in to invalidate their lock in price but not just wait until you fill up and you will have to pay the full price at the station.

        • @Rod71:

I will ask them to deduct from my account no cash involve

  • Hey Guys, new to this. Got NOX installed on my PC, and was able to use the inbuilt function to change the location.

As I'm in Vic, should I only be using other locations only in Victoria? Or can you use any suburb in the country?

Also, how does the app work, do you need to top up the 711 app? I read something about picking the amount of litres you're after. What happens if you don't use the whole amount? Can you re-lock prices again?

    Thanks in advance!

    • +2

      Hey mate.

You need to have enough $ in your 711 account according to the amount of litres you wish to lock.

It doesn't charge you when you lock the litres. When you you go to pay atthe store you can use the app to pay thus the money comes out of your account or you can pay cash or card.

You only get charged for the amount of litres you use mate! You can't lock in the amount of litres you have remaining. But you can relock again of course.

      • Awesome, thanks so much!

Should I only lock prices from other Victorian places, since I'm in Vic? Or can I use any suburb in the country? I'm guessing the latter might be little too sus?

        • @zo0omer: I locked in the price on Nox, but when I open up the 711 app on my phone it doesn't show that it's locked. Am I missing something? Thanks!

EDIT: It finally updated. Took the app on my phone a few minutes before registering that I've locked a price!

        • +1

@ahseng: Just relog into your 711 account on the phone and it should pop up straight away. That is what worked for me

        • +1

          @ahseng:

As the below comment says mate. Just log out and login and bang appears.

      • You need to have enough $ in your 711 account according to the amount of litres you wish to lock.

So for last deal about 10c.

        • Thanks. Unfortunately not working for me on nox at the minute. The 0.01 comes up, however I'm getting errors trying to top up.

Edit: Looks like the price is gone again at a Hampton Park. It's been refusing to let me top up.

        • @piemaniac: I can't even see Hampton Park on the app

        • @Lad92: Yeah. It's been removed. Weird.

    • over now

  • +1

This can't be good for the long term :(

  • After two 0.01c price errors in two days and given all the money they would of lost and the fact they took off hampton park from the app completely to stop users locking in the error isnt a good sign. I'd say they are really going to start stepping up security to put a stop to all of the apps flaws.

    • +1

the 0.01c price errors are a separate issue - they're morons tbh.

i really can't see them stepping up security in a way that would stop us doing this - it's more likely that they'll pull the whole app.

  • So can I confirm how this works, sorry first time user!

Literally just lockin the price. Goto Servo, fill up the car, show the Lockin Coupon and either pay with my Credit Card, OR, my 7-11 Preloaded card within the app?

    • +1

      Correct

      • Thanks!

Last question, after locking in a price. Can you cancel that if you find something cheaper within the 7 days?

        • Nup… You have to use it. Done people say just fill up the minimum and the relock. But that's a bit extreme.. I'm not sure wat the minimum is.

        • @zo0omer: Thought so - cheers! Its almost like the stock market :)

        • @zo0omer: Minimum is 2L.

      • can you please send the full link? Didn't know about that site! :)

    • Okay. The only issue I have is the bottom advertisement covers the WA fuel prices and I can't scroll past and get it to stick. If there were several blank rows below the WA prices I think that would solve the problem. Safari iOS 10.1.1. I can send you a video if you like.

  • Are there any ticks/work around for locking in a price, without topping up your account?

    • No, you need enough money in the account to cover the amount of litres you want. You can leave the money in there and pay via CC once you redeem the voucher.

      • You can leave the money in there and pay via CC once you redeem the voucher.

I don't like the idea of leaving money in there, in case they start banning accounts and freezing the funds.

If only there was a way to transfer the money between 7/11 accounts … then we could start generating vouchers on-mass!

  • +2

  • +2

What can be done to start to make the fuel retailers play fair?

We shouldn't need to go to these lengths to avoid being screwed by the cycles. I held off using this app, but with extended peak from mid Dec 17 to mid Jan 18, they convinced me to use the location workaround.

We will never get proper fuel competition in Australia until we get rid of this rediculous fuel cycle. I am no fan of regulation, but we need some pollies to force this pattern to stop.

Every few months, we get an opinion article in the newspapers, but they rarely get any attention, and quickly get buried. Does the general consumer not care? - I don't think they do. Then we have the motoring bodies (e.g. RACQ), who are probably best placed to push the issue, but for me, their language is too soft on the matter.

Anyway, any crazy ideas (apart from using this app while it lasts). How about a not for profit fuel company (i.e become a member to get fuel at cost+overheads).

Or, how about a months worth of blockading fuel stations on set days (to get the media attention).

    • Govt won't touch it as they get more money the higher it is.

    • the age old argument. I've been hearing people complaining about petrol prices since I started driving almost 20 years ago and it was 75c a litre. nobody gives a (profanity) because it's the average aussie that gets ripped off while the corporations swim in money.

This is the epitome of a victimless crime, because the victims are criminals.

    • Does the general consumer not care? - I don't think they do.

How much difference does it really make? Say you're a heave petrol user … 3000L/year (driving >25k km/year)

A 50c/L price fluctuation is only going to change your overall cost by $1500/year. Of course, if you're driving that much, you'd have to be pretty unlucky (and silly) to always be filling up at the peak of the cycle. Assuming you only buy at the peak of the cycle half of the time, the overall cost is down to $750/year.

In my experience, the cycles tend to be less extreme than my example (probably only 30c/L) and not many people living in the city drive 25k km/year … so the actual cost to an individual is probably only $200-300/year.

Yeah, it might be a different story, if you have 3 cars in your household and need to commute 100km/day to work/school, but I think those families tend to be outliers … hence no real action from politicians/consumer groups/etc.

      • maybe so - but that doesn't make it right - the government's job should be to protect consumers even if consumers don't know they need protecting.

For example, If i wrote a hack that skimmed 1 cent from the bank account of every person in australia - would the average person care? not really. it's only 1 cent. But i'd have my ass thrown in jail for a long time because what I am doing is still theft regardless of the impact of each individual.

        • How is that the same comparison?
These are private companies, so can realistically charge what they want..competition (and probably collusion) is what keeps the prices where they are.

Plus the government makes its excise and gst off fuel, so they are getting something like 50c in every litre already.

You can be a smart consumer and shop around (and use price cycles to your advantage) or you can not. No different than shopping for anything else

        • but private companies can't just charge what they want.. we have the ACCC for a reason - to regulate trade practices.

The practice of changing the price every day and in every location, and charging some places up to 30% higher is immoral and that is exactly why we have the ACCC.

          And collusion is illegal.

        • maybe so - but that doesn't make it right

My reply wasn't about whether it's right or not, it's about why the average person doesn't care.

the government's job should be to protect consumers even if consumers don't know they need protecting.

Take a look at some of the banking royal commission coverage. People have been getting screwed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for years. It's a massively bigger problem and I don't see the government doing anything substantial to change it.

Heck, electricity and gas price increases over the past few years have had a bigger impact on consumers discretionary spending, than fuel price cycles.

Saving consumers a couple of hundred bucks on their annual fuel costs is pretty low priority for governments.

        • @nardz:

but private companies can't just charge what they want..

          what? yes they can.
they cant have misleading pricing etc, but private companies are free to charge what they want for a product (theres some exceptions, like regulated industries such as electricity and we know how well thats working ;) )
Wanna open up a bottled water company and charge $99 a bottle…go right ahead
Wanna open up a petrol station and charge $5 a litre..go right ahead

Competition is what keeps (or should keep) prices at a reasonable level

As for the cyclical pricing cycle, while i think its stupid, smart consumers get to use it to their benefit.

        • if i opened up a bottled water company, and found a way to monopolise every drop of water in Australia, and then charged $99/bottle, you bet there'd be government intervention.

the key to your post is competition. There is no competition with petrol because they are all colluding to keep prices up. That is what makes it illegal, private companies or not.

that's why the ACCC stands for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

        • @nardz:

because they are all colluding to keep prices up

          alleged collusion ;)
if it was factually proven then im sure there would be a different story

plus, just be thankful our prices are cheaper than say the UK's petrol prices

        • @SBOB:
Our prices are lower mainly due to taxes. UK retailer margins appear to be approx 9 cents (excluding VAT), including delivery.

        • @megaclix:

and what is it here? about 11c from a quick google. Not much difference

quick google shows something like 42% is international cost of refined fuel, another 42% is tax/excise/gst?
(abc article was the source of that)

      • +1

Good point, when objectively looking at it, the overall price (i.e. retail margin) averages out.

It is only the retail margin that swings from around +4 to +30 cents over the published terminal gate prices. (This incidentally only a few years ago used to be +4 to +22 to +24 cents - no one, even RACQ brings this up).

In Perth, where they still have weekly cycles, you can manage this more effectively (i.e always buy at the bottom), but the eastern state have much longer cycles.

It is just why, out of all the counties in the world, does Australia put up with this fuel cycle? Does anyone know of any other country that has this fuel cycle?

On reading into the history of fuel prices in Australia, it used to have a real reason. Now, it just seems to be continued to confuse / blindside the consumer. I can only conclude that the fuel companies (and this is the head companies, not the franchisees), do this to maximise their profits - I can't blame them for that. But where, WHERE is the consumer backlash.

I think overall, the price cycle just bamboozles the consumer, and they just put up with it. Our motoring bodies (e.g RACQ) are weak at pointing out the real situation.

It is hard to judge competition, when the prices go these price cycles. The monitoring bodies keep publishing the averages over an area, which just hides what is really going on.

If we could get free access to the raw live pricing data, I am sure it would be interesting (I am in SE QLD).

    U91 123.7 Riverstone NSW

Not a great price but probably the cheapest for the next week or so. If you can hold out until Monday WA might be cheaper.

    • Not great, but better then $1.50+ at most NSW outlets.

  • alleged collusion ;)

I think signalling is a more accurate description of the problem and its pretty difficult to governments to stop it. The government could step in and enforce a price ceiling/floor, but I think that's been shown to be bad for consumers world over.

  • Some advice. The price of fuel in Brisbane has sat above $1.50/L ($1.70 for 98) for more than a week now (so longer than the app's lock in time) and nothing within driving distance of SEQ has gone anything below that at all… but if I use the GPS Spoof/NOX to lock-in to a Sydney 7/11 (at say $1.45/L for 98 or something around that), will the Brisbane store I fill up at get suspicious? Do 7/11 send out memos about this sort of thing? I'm only asking cuz the last time I locked up it was the $1.28 for 98 at Algester and the attendant gave me a weird look and asked where I got the price from.

    • +2

If they ask you where you locked in, either tell them to mind their business, or say you travel interstate a lot.

      • Got asked this morning where I locked it in (from Brisbane).

I drive to the Gold Coast and across the border alot.

The pollers don't seem to be updating the right prices anymore. Cross verified with FuelcheckNSW and 7-eleven app in Nox emulator. It shows $149.9 for E10 at Riverstone, but the php page shows $121.7 with last update at 30/04/18 08:39

    See the screenshots here

    • Yep cheapest u91 seems to be in WA 125.9

    • Strange because all prices are verified with the app prices before updating on 8-Twelve. Could have just been a delay in update in the app. Nevertheless, Riverstone is not showing anymore.

Also I noticed the screenshot says Polding Street rather than Riverstone; you can single out the prices of a specific store by using the "Store Finder" menu on the app.

      • Looks like it was a delay. Looks fine now, thanks mate.

  • Can the guys at the servo see when you locked in?

    • I don't think so, it's just a barcode and they scan it to apply your discount.

    • +2

It has the expiry on the voucher so you can work out when you locked it.

    • +12

they dont get paid enough to care

      • A few seem to be well paid then

    • +7

I scroll up so only the barcode is visible and not the lock-in price. Less questions.

    • Why you guys so worried lol, i am happy to see a fellow ozbargainer and know they are using gps mocking.

      • +1

I can't afford to pay Qld fuel prices and I'm worried they'll stop us :(

        • +1

Just remember they're still making money - just not as much as they normally would, but that's better than then you going to a different servo, and many people buy stuff from the shop too and leave money in the app to lock.

Really it's a win win for 711 in comparison to the small percentage of people that score a lower than average price.

So I don't think it's likely they'll stop it unless they've done the numbers and it is actually hurting their profit enough to can the whole app.

    • Do you mean where they locked in?
I did almost get refused once. Someone scanned my barcode and the manager came over to look and said in their ear (loud enough for me to hear) that the lock in was from another state and next time to check and not do it. I think they do know but I haven't been back to that 711 as it was not local but never been refused here. I always try to not fill up on the day I lock in if its from another state so I can claim I was travelling if they ever try to refuse. I don't know if the saw it on my phone or on the computer where I locked in…

      • I usually do fill up late at night, usually managers aren't in at that time.
Also they cannot refuse your lock even if it's from another state. You can always say you just flew in or just call 7-11 hotline.

      • Maybe the manager just knew it had it to be interstate based on the price.

  • Website is showing U98 144.9 11-Seven Forrestdale Southern River WA but when i try lock it in i get 1.72. Ideas on cheapest u98 atm?

Ooops, you'll be getting a knock at the door.

      • Oops, call the police on ya.

How much do you have in your account?

        • @KBZ:
How much did you fuel up on the 0.01 deal? And did the store make a fuss? I haven't been blocked "yet"

        • @googoogaga:

Close to 80L. No store did not make a fuss. I think 7/11are looking at everyone locked in at 0.01 and looking at their locking history.

        • @KBZ: i find that the block only lasts 24hrs. Just log out and clear cache on ohone and try agai in a day or two.

I'm worried. I only ever locked onto Brisbane servos just in case but with the ridiculous prices in Qld I've had to lock onto Sydney ones instead..

      • Only blocking people who used the 0.001 price lock it seems.

        • not really, mine seems fine and i've had 2 lock ins after the .001 price lock.

    • Out of curiosity, any updates on this?

    • You will get a logon error "Foxtrot". Then I rang them to confirm.

      • How many lock in did you do? I have done and used 2 fuel lock and I haven't been blocked yet.

        • 2 in total. 1st one redeemed successfully. 2nd one got rejected by the petrol station.

        • @Joe888:
the $0.01 got accepted by the petrol station. did you lose much on your account? and did they say will reimburse you?

Haha.. I didn't take up that 1c error as well for that reason.. Way too obvious.

  • +7

I've been using FakeGPS free (Android app) to do my fuel locks, and its been increasingly harder to do locks each time the 7-11 app has an update(having to do a few attempts). However, today when I went to use FakeGPS, there was a popup prompt to enable 'no-root' mode.
I enabled that feature and got a fuel lock on my first attempt. So anyone having trouble getting a lock might want to give that a try.

    • Yep, worked first time. :)

    • What version of fake gps you are using? Is it a new feature of mock gps app?

    • +1

      Worked great thanks.

Needed to turn on wait dialog No-root mode also.

Confirmed working with new updated 7-11 app too

    • I'm happy too. I think one issue is the number of apps that are called fake gps. The fact T1 menitioned a version different to mine, made me try again.

  • Heads up - There's a new 711 app update, so make sure you have auto update switched off.

    • I dont think you can get away with not updating as for the previous version doesn't allow you to lock prices unless you update the app.

      • Probably not immediately.

        • latest update seems to block nox.. it just never receives any data or maybe it's just me? I have tried using the older version as well no difference

EDIT:oh wait I just tried to lock in a price using my normal phone and it also comes up and unknown error.. maybe the apps just down this morning

        • @Gomo:

Yeah mine had shit itself this morning as well. I also got a message saying I'm using mock location settings and if i keep using it, I'll have my account banned.

      • +1

Yeah, filled up this morning and their system was down..

Not sure I can be bothered raising it with customer support over $4 and the chance that someone may look closer at my lock-in history ;)

  • All working again.

    • I can see my account balance but there was a pop up warning about redeeming offers or fuel locks.

      • not on mine, but did you lock in the .001 dicount ?

        • Nope. I'm on iOS though

  • Working again! 😇

  • Jeez, what happened to the fuel prices!?

    95 was about 1.34 only a week ago, now it's 1.42!

  • +6

Anyone who could please help me out by PM me an electronic copy of supermarket or local store receipt around 22 April with a Melbourne address so 7/11 can unlock my account. This will help to prove my whereabouts around the time of my 0.1c fuel lock.

    • They locked your account because of the $0.01 lock?

      • Yes.

        • +1

Wow , yeah I wasnt keen so I backed out of using such deal

    • i thought you only had a mistype with your fingers when trying to log on?

Do you have a considerable amount in your account that's why you wanted to get it unblocked?

      • +1

No, I rang up and they confirmed my account was locked.
Fortunately, there are only about $20 bucks in my account. However, it's the ozbargainer in me that I need to get it back :)

        • +1

I think you saved more than $20 with your purchase of fuel @ $0.01 :)

        • +2

They can't confiscate it, they would have to return it if they want to close your account

        • @Two50rr:

Depends on the terms. If they claim you violated the terms they may be able to. I suspect they will send out a gift card of $20 though.

    • +2

Just call them and demand your 20 bucks back or you will take it further. Demand they prove you were using any exploits.

      • This. Politely state you don't accept this and politely demand your money back, and you will not accept anything less.

They can't just take your money.

  • Locked in here 130 for 91 though:(

    • I'm waiting for Monday WA, might be cheaper…

  • Anyone redeemed a fuel lock in the last hour?

    • I redeemed an hour after you posted.

      • Thanks

  • Had a weird issue, possibly at their end.

Went to pay for fuel, voucher accepted, but my top up at $70 kept on saying invalid. Still in the app, just payed with card. Locked in locally, no cheats.

    Very odd!

  • Hmmmm so I filled up, showed them the voucher and was told system is down. Didn't have my card on so I said I can't pay as I only have app credit. It seems to work! Suspect that they can't scan the fuel lock but can scan the credit voucher

    • Was that today or yesterday?

      • Yesterday

    • Same with me on yesterday.

    • Get the reciept and call 7-11, they will refund you the difference with proof of puchase

      • +2

        Cbf fighting for $2

        • -1

It's not a fight. It's quite easy. It's in the FAQ.

        • $2? I have never got less than a $10 discount

        • @tee123: prices are way up these days

  • Locked again this morning

    Redeemed last night

    No issues

    • +6

      Locked again this morning

      Redeemed last night

Did you go in the past to redeem it?

      • Umm what?

        • You locked THIS morning. Redeemed LAST night. Umm what?

      • +2

I think he meant, he had already locked and claimed last night and relocked again.

Comment by Nardz on the 16/04 helped me to finally lock it.
The instructions by Nardz were as below.

    +13 votes nardz on 16/04/2018 - 11:07

even when i disable mock location it still comes up with the warning.

if you clear the app data however, it lets you lock in - though that would mean you have to log in again.

It looks like they're somehow locking in a local flag when it detects mock location that isn't clearable in the short term.

so i would suggest the process would be: (still to be fine tuned)

    clear data in 7eleven
    set fake location
open google maps. let it load current (fake) location
    disable mock locations
open google maps, make sure fake location is still active
    open 7eleven.
    lock in price.
    login.
    lock.
    pixel 2xl running android 8.1

    • +1
      • Will try this if the one that nardz have posted fails to lock in but atm I am happy with this. thanks.

        • Failing on all counts.. :(

Seems to recognise that the cached location is spoofed, and re-searches for an updated location - even when logged out of the cleared data version of the 7-11 app…

        • @Tafe: I wonder what you're doing wrong.. I've tried this morning and it's still working fine for me.

        • @angelkulit025: I wonder if devices or OX make a difference.. Have tried step-by-step suggestions and various other variations also..

        • @Tafe: after fake location was locked, open google maps to see if it is set on fake location then stop the fake location, then go into 7/11, lock, then log in

        • @Tafe: are you using iphone?

        • @Tafe: have you tried the nox method?

        • @all-for1: Yes, when I go to google maps as per the instructions the fake location is set.

In the steps, it says to go back to google maps to see if the fake location is still active (it isn't)..

So I tried also NOT going back in to google maps but just going straight to 7-11, but the location still switches back.

From the period between turning off mock locations to opening the 7-Eleven app it finds my new 'real' location.

          edit: Android

        • @angelkulit025: installing now to have a play

        • Okidoki, NOX FTW.

          Cheers all :)

        • @angelkulit025: Hi my NOx was working fine past one month now. But when I tried to lock it doesn't give any mock location error, but when I pres lock, it goes back to finding fuel screen.

        • @agam2104:
Are you sure you haven't done it too many times within 24 hours?
Each device has a two-locks per 24 hours, tracked by Android ID.
Install a second instance of NOX or use a different computer.

        • @Tafe:

probably because you are getting a GPS signal. You got to find a concrete bunker or the next best thing. Mine will work in the dunny but it has no window.

  • Anyone know how to get nox working on a mac?
Keeps getting stuck at 99% when loading it up after install.

    • How many times have you restarted it? Mine got stuck the first time around but was OK after a restart.

      • Restarted it 4 times. Each time got stuck at 99%. Have also uninstalled and reinstalled it and still no luck

        • +2

I had the same issue and gave up.

        • @Rod71:

          That's the spirit

        • @b2dz: lol, it still works fine on my phone, so I cbf battling with it :)

        • @Rod71: SBOBs comment worked for me, allow permission in security and privacy when nox is loading up.

    • +1

reinstalling made it work for me

    • +2

Check your install app permissions in settings . When I did it, it failed as one add on needed approval but didn't pop up. Went in there, approved it, then reinstall worked fine.

      • Thanks its finally working :)

  • Anyone getting selected fuel type is not available error?

    • +1

      Working fine here

    • I'm getting this error in Nox at the moment. Not sure why or how to fix it yet.
EDIT: Cleared data and forced stopped app in settings, started app, signed in and now working again.

  • 130.3 for 91, don't need fuel for a couple days. Worth waiting you reckon?

are you looking for the updated price mate? U91 126.7 11-Seven Wangara Madeley WA

      • -1

Sorry, was looking at NSW. What's the go with interstate locks?

        • what do you mean? The script was made to get the cheapest fuel available in all states regardless of where you reside.

        • -1

@angelkulit025: I just realised there is actually a script for it LOL. Normally I just look at fuelcheck. Anyway, are there issues with locking in a price from WA and using that price in NSW?

        • +2

@jazattack: well if you encounter nosy 711 attendants that's the only time you will have a problem but more often than not. Just the normal procedure, fill up, scan the voucher and pay with whatever the register comes up with.

      • WA prices will likely go up tomorrow.

        • Definitely

  • Trying to lock with this way @armdrag on 15/04/2018. Using fake gps app and 7 11 app. App recently got updated and now getting location error.. Using andriod phone… Anyone help me another way to lock .. Thanka

  • Not working for me anymore, going to have to find another method.

  • it doesnt work for me, im using Android 7.0 on mi5, tried clear app data, restart phone, somehow it still picking up im using fake location. what annoyes me the most is that when i was playing with the setting, my location keep jumping and somehow 711 app was fine with it, it picks up the random location and gave me a lock in.

btw, what location app all you Android people are using? Im using fake gps go

    • -1

I'm using fakeGps free.. The icon is like a compass.

      • i think when 7 eleven app picks up youre using fake location then quit the app clear app data then uninstall fake gps go then try to lock in again. Works everytime for me

  • Hopefully someone will find another way to lock prices on andriod phone. Finger crossed

    • mine still works, just tried

    • +1

Mines seems to be working straight away don't even have to turn off mock locations after updating FakeGPS

    • Then 7-11 will find a way to block it

      • Checked this on fuelspy, a mistake then.
        Sorry peeps.

  • Are we going to see 120's again at some stage? Fuel is expensive at the moment.

    • That's because oil prices have gone up recently..

    • Oil price reached $70/barrel and AUD just got smashed so there is a slim chance we will see that anytime soon.

  • With this I no longer need to go to Costco petrol in Moorabbin and queue up to get similar/same prices on fuel!

    • +1

This method beats Costco fuel by some margin consistently since 7eleven introduced it, providing your savvy with GPS hack

  • Hi my NOx was working fine past one month now. But when I tried to lock it doesn't give any mock location error, but when I pres lock, it goes back to finding fuel screen.

    • Try unticking rooting from settings

      • If that root mode was enabled, he wouldn't have been able to see the unlock button let alone touching it.

    • I had the same problem mate.

Untick the root setting from the general settings. Works like a charm now.

    • Same here! When i filled up and used the voucher and want to lock one again (after about 30 mins), same thing happened.

I didn't change anything in the setting but the next day, using the same account it works fine again.

  • Proof of price petrol price gouging as shown on 7News

    • Although it's clear that something unusual is going on, the graph you shared could do with more some more details. Variation is less than 6 cents. Not sure I'd call that proof.

      I'm still sitting on 3/4 of a tank from my 0.1 c/litre.

    • I have no idea what point that graph is trying to make.

      Different stores have different prices?

      • I think it's an amalgamated average of petrol prices across the respective stores.

  • 128.5 u91 at Revesby South
    Been this price since yesterday.
    I locked it in.

Weaker AUD combined with stronger Crude price.

(If it falls further than 128.5… pump 2L to reset the locked price. Then lock again)

    • Everywhere except for WA is pretty much the same price. I'm not locking in just yet because it's cheaper to purchase locally at Woolworths.

      • +1

        128.5/0.95 = 135.3
        Add 4c voucher.

If local woolies is 139 or less for U91. Cheaper to purchase via woolies 4c and e-gift method.

I probably won't need fuel till Friday.

Out of e-gift right now. And haven't spent over$30 lately at woolies.

  • Thoughts on locking in today or waiting?

    • Possibly worth a wait. Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are all trending down but also might all go up this week.

      • +4

Hedge it by making a new account and locking in.

        • Do u want to lock away another $60-70 into another 7-11 account? So essentially paying $65 dollars for the privilege of a hedge bet/insurance.

        • @Sweetnsour: eh you'll end up using it anyway eventually

        • -1

@Sweetnsour: Worth forgoing the interest/opportunity cost of $70 vs the ability to lock in a cheaper petrol price on a second account

        • @inasero: I guess so but if you don't have an interest account it's alright

        • @Sweetnsour: > Do u want to lock away another $60-70 into another 7-11 account?

I leave $60 each in both of my accounts. $60 @ 4% (my mortgage rate) equals to $2.40 and I have at times saved more than $20 by locking in just one go.

    • Lock in now if you haven't. I'm fairly certain Qld, NSW and VIC will all go up this weekend.

U91 is 129.9 in Corio Vic, Prairiewood NSW and Ashwood Qld.

  • Hi Guys, I was thinking I should start looking at doing this 7/11 lock in to reduce my fuel cost. Without doing too much I was hoping to get some feedback from the guys/gals that already use it.

How does the price compare to the Woolies + 5% discount on eGift card + 4c/L from shopping at woolies? This my current fuel shopping discount but hoping this may be able to provide further savings?

    • +1

Just depends on the price at the time you're locking in

    • +2

      What TarquinOliverNimrod said.

To be more precise, if prices are at the bottom of the cycle, it is very possible (likely?) that using WISH eGCs + 4c/L off dockets is cheaper than 7-11. However, when prices are high, then it's very likely that locking in a 7-11 from interstate will be cheaper.

Just chop and change as necessary. That's what I do.

    • Over the journey, you will save buckets more this way.

    • Depending on your area. If u live in an affluent area that has high rent, petrol will be more expensive and you save more. If less affluent, then the savings will be smaller.

  • +3

11-7 stuck for anyone else? Hasn't updated since yesterday 10am for me

    • +1

      Yeah. Noticed the same

      • me2,,,wish I could do the coding anyone able to help ?

cycle of prices seems to be bottoming.

    • +17

Sorry, I'm working on it. Should be back up soon.

      EDIT - It's been updated.

      • Great work, appreciate your efforts. Updated for me now.

      • Thanks Champion

      • @Master131, isn't it auto script? If it is then it is not updating the cheapest price. Now we see frequent price difference in actual & here. is there anyway we can help?

        • +2

It is supposed to be automatic but it can occasionally break for various reasons. Price disparities can only be explained by 7-11 changing prices in between the time that the script updates (the script updates every few hours).

  • +2

Not sure it's working properly, script shows U98 137.9 11-Seven Glen Waverley VIC , but I just checked and it is actually 154.9 ?

    • probably it was shortlived?

    • What @angelkulit205 said. They're free to change the prices whenever they want, the prices are only correct as of the time specified on the site.

      • +1

What is the frequency of the updates? Is it more difficult to do more frequent updates? Sorry, if silly question, I am genuinely curious.

        • Every few hours. I've opted not to make it more frequent as it makes the script a bigger target for bans.

    • Definitely short live as Glen Waverley has U91 at 137.9

    • As master131 said script updates at few hour interval so any price change between that won't reflect on here.

  • Gday … my 7/11 started giving an error when I go to top up money, saying:
"Velocity rule breach. Too many requests. [Error code: Lima]"
What does this mean? .. in English please.

    • I retried again and it worked.
      Ohwell.

      • I think it's when you try to lock at one geo location, and then try again at another that's a considerable distance away.

    • I'm getting Lima error too. Annoying!

        • @sween64: yep, that's where i got confused because i try multiple times to find waverley gardens but fake gps leads me to US. Good thing i know the surrounding suburbs so i choose one and got it working.

    • +24

I'm fixing it now, one crowdsourcing service really does not like me polling their servers so I'm ditching it. The only way that people can help at the moment is by submitting any awesome prices they find that's not showing up on the script to GasBuddy.

        Thornton NSW U91 - 129.9
Armstrong Creek is giving me Belmont VIC U91 - 136.9

        • probably too many people scraping it for 7-11 prices ;)

        • Yea, has been like that for a while. Does it ever actually load on desktop? I always give up..

      • So you’re not polling 7-Eleven’s servers?

Did anyone do this before and then get shut down?

        • I can't edit my comment anymore.
Ummm, did some reading and see you verify against their servers.

Have you ever encountered an IP ban scraping 7-Eleven's servers? Thinking of setting one up…

        • @cooni: I've been mucking around with the app myself recently and I'm stuck trying to get it to compare more than 5 stores prices. I can get it to do the searching but it still only finds the closest store, not any of the rest.

But on a positive side I've disabled the mock location check, and interestingly everytime it notices you're rooted or have mock locations enabled it send it to their servers.

        • @Freighter: I’m not talking about messing with the app, I mean reversing the API and scraping their servers systematically getting prices for every servo.

        • +2

So glad I locked in $1.29 … this morning

  • -6

Where should my app go to get cheapest fuel? :-/

    • +1

      Bacchus Marsh

  • -8

    any cheap price for 98?

  • Damn it. I let my 129.9 voucher lapse today and I'm down to less than a quarter of a tank. Terrible timing.

    • +1

I left work 30mins early to fill up 40L out of 60Ltank. 20c or so per L off compared to other stations.

Mayb fill small amount at woolies to get by till the next cycle. I'm sure u have 4c vouchers banked up. And some egifts.

      • I'll have to fill up Sunday. WA is currently 138.7 and will hopefully close to 130 by then.

    • +1

That's a mortal sin mate.. Which will cost you dearly.. Literally… Lol

  • Caltex Wandin North VIC U91 199.9 shown on Spy map. Is this real…? who pumps for that!

United Tooradin Central VIC 122.9 shown on Spy map. ReallY!!!???

    • Probably just mistakes. Also doesn't help any of us as they're not 7-Eleven.

  • Now that I've installed Nox, how do I link it to my phone's 7-11 app?

    • +1

Enter your login details in the login section of the app, all your information should automatically sync

Edit: I should add you also have to install the 7 Eleven app thru the Google Play app store on the Nox emulator

      • how could you put the location of Nox emulator to the location in AUS you want for cheap fuel? try the mock location will not work for fuel app. the current location of the Nox emulator app detected is Bethune Park LA!

        • There is a post in this forum somewhere.

  • +7

For those looking to fill up.

Bibra Lake, WA is 135.3c for U91 today.

Not too sure why it isn't showing up on the master131's link at the moment.

    • Damn. I knew I should've checked the government website. Just locked in 139.9. Prices in WA should be cheapest on Monday.

      • If u can b bothered. 2Ls can trigger reset. (Some stations don't have minimums written on pump.)

    • +1

Most likely because GasBuddy didn't update it as fast as the WA government site. I might make some changes to use government sources directly.

      • +10

A-aaaand now all prices for WA & NSW are retrieved directly :)

        • +1

          Thank you!

        • Probably pointless information, but I did notice the 7-eleven app was still showing the previous day's price at Bibra Lake on Saturday until around 7:30am AWST, even though prices should change at 6am AWST. Not too sure why.

        • Thanks!!

    • It's $1.39 now =/

  • Guys, with the app cloner app you can create a copy of the existing app.

Then create a new email and account to lock an additional 150$ worth if you need to. Don't need a new device.

  • Let's see what WA Monday prices get us

    • wouldn't hold my breath

    • It's going to get us 133.9c/L for U91 @ Success.

Not bad considering the prices for the past week.

    • +6

      Best WA prices available tomorrow (28/05/18) @ 6am (GMT+8):

      U91 - 133.9: 7-Eleven Success
      U95 - 145.9: 7-Eleven Success
      U98 - 151.9: 7-Eleven Success
Diesel - 153.9: Anywhere, all the same price in WA

      • Would you consider adding this to your website?

        • +1

I'm thinking about it but it turns out this morning that these prices aren't even correct. Either the prices are wrong on the 7-11 app or they lied to the WA government :/

      • +8

You should get a fundme or patreon page so people can rewrd your contribution. Without the site i would never be ble to be bothered searching cheapest locations. Big ups to you man!

        • Hopefully the ads are covering the server costs.

        • +2

@sween64: Byethost has a free plan which I assume master is using but hopefully the ads give him some compensation for his time. I disabled my adblocker on both my phone/desktop.

        • @machej: I too have disabled adblock for 11-seven appreciate your work master131

        • +1

@machej: Yes the website is running on a free plan. Costs are only associated with the Pi I run at home 24/7 that submit the prices which isn't that much anyway.

        • @brandogs: I click the ads every now and then.

        • @master131:
Bro just add a donation link there, I hate ads and tracking happy to donate a part of my savings though.

      • OK, looks like they've misreported the price. The official 7-11 app is reading 139.9 for U91 at Success WA (updated at 7:10am). Don't know if they misreported to the state government or to the app.

        • +1

I think there's just a delay in the app. It was noted over this weekend by someone else. Success WA is now showing 133.9 in the 7-Eleven app.

      • Did anyone get this price?
I get 1c higher even though petrolspy reported correct price

    • +2

Yes fuel prices are high at the moment but the relative discounts are still similar compared to local..

  • +4

Anyone else having trouble accessing master131's site?

      • Must be broken 😲

      • Requested web address cannot be provided

        http://cdn.byethost2.com/index.html

        Blocked by Web Anti-Virus

        Reason: phishing link

        Detection method: databases

I am not sure, but be careful…

        • +1

Temporarily taken off the link whilst it's fixed.

    • Ozbargained

      • -3

Wow, you got negged for that. I lol'd

    • +7

No idea why it's down, will investigate when I get home.

      • Thank you master

      • +5

Looks like it literally got Ozbargained, daily hit limit on server host was reached. Won't be back for another 18 hours. Either traffic has grown (doubtful) or somebody is hammering the site. There is a huge spike for today.

        https://i.imgur.com/3maR6s0.png

Numbers along the bottom axis is the day of the month but the digits are jumbled.

        • Mate do you need help with hosting the script or the site?

        • +1

Maybe a 7/11 ploy to crash the data ?

        • +13

Hey @master131, if you're interested I'd be happy to offer free hosting for you, no limits.

        • +2

          @ingenieurmt:

DoS from a single source IP?

        • Time to enable CloudFlare I'd say. Should stop this sneaky person from trying to do this.

        • hopefully not someone here writing something to poll it for their own purpose (but didn't code respectfully)… Looks too suspicious the spike

        • +1

@ingenieurmt: I appreciate the offer, though I'm currently moving it to a host with unlimited traffic. Regardless, I won't be able to kick start the migration til the original host is back in 18 hours as I'm completely locked out of the file manager/databases.

          @machej: Yeah, for sure.

    • +1

Thx. I'll top up and lock again tonight.

    • +5

That sounds painful, hope you're ok mate.

  • +3

man, wheres some cheap prices on the east coast…
(yes, i know i could lock in a WA price, I just feel 5% less dodgy getting a code from a petrol station I could legitimately get to ;) )

    • 12c/litre extra

  • +44

Hey all, 11-Seven has been migrated here (now with HTTPS). The old link will redirect to the new host in 24 hours for those not paying attention to this thread.

    https://projectzerothree.info/prices.php

    • +1

      thanks very much. working now!!!!

    • +2

Thanks for the great work. Updated the link at the top of the thread.

Good to see you have Cloudflare to stop those pesky bandwidth bandits. I've disabled my adblock on here too.

    • +1

      Good work mate. Legend!!

    • +1

Thank you so much! Love your work <3

    • Champ

    • +1

First of all, thank you for your service. Before your website, I was checking the NSW api for the lowest price, not always the cheapest price since it is only NSW, but the prices are always correct. Just thought I would share in case you need another source to verify your data. Cheers.

      https://api.onegov.nsw.gov.au/FuelCheckApp/v1/fuel/prices/by…

      • Master already uses the government websites for WA and NSW I believe.

        • The reason I brought this up is because in my link the lowest price for NSW is not reflected on Master's website. :)

        • +5

@geek001: All prices regardless of source (crowdsourced or government sourced) are always cross referenced with the 7/11 in-app price. Chances are that the government price is updated first as all changes must be live as mandated by the NSW state government; and the 7/11 in-app one has not been refreshed to reflect the change. Also always pay attention to when the prices were updated on 11-Seven because it updates every few hours only.

        • +1

@master131: Ok, thanks for that. Again, thank you for your website. :)

        • @master131: Have you removed the ads from your page?

        • @donga100: Different website and host. Maybe (s)he's still in the process of setting it up.

        • @sween64: Seem to be back now. Just clicked on "Youtubers seeing red after recent policy changes"

    • +1

I'm getting ads for Viagra now :o

      • +1

lol wow i just got that too. i wasn't expecting to see a penis on my screen

        • It was actually a finger but it definitely wasn't an accident..

  • I used to use geotag to location spoof, and then open the 7/11 app and lock in a price, but the 7/11 app has stopped me from doing it because of mock location , so what's the best work around?

I've seen in the comments people talking about Nox, but I don't understand the workaround and how to use it, any hot tips of what to do?

    • +4

nox is extremely simple once installed and is 10x easier in my opinion then doing it on your phone because you get 0 mock errors.

Just install it on your pc/mac and its very straight forward from there. Only difference is you dont need a gps spoof app as there is one built into nox on the side bar.

      • Logging into Nox, a third party program with main account details seems like an information risk/liability right?

        Or is this overly paranoid?

        • What details are you paranoid of?

Nox has a junk google account of mine for 7/11 app install.
I log into 7/11 with my correct details.

Are you paranoid re 7/11 details?

        • @chinezejew: Oh man, I'm an idiot, my bad. I was thinking I had to log into Nox with my personal google account info, and I was thinking that seemed kind of extreme hah. I can just set up a new google account and then get the 7/11 app and sign in with my details. Cheers, makes way more sense!

        • +2

Just copy the APK from your phone to PC, you don't even need to login to Google. Problem's solved.

        • @juph0rry:

Tip: Nox has inbuilt GPS spoof. no need to use a GPSspoof APK (look to the right bar for a location button)

        • @andylch:

          Manual app cloning. I like

    • +1

if you go to developer options on settings and look for mock locations, you'll most likely see that 7-11 has hijacked it and somehow made it their own.

      • Yes how do you get around it

        • +2

Uninstall 7-eleven. Download Fake GPS go location spoofer. Open the app and select it for mock locations. Then go back to the app and go to app settings. Enable new no Root Mode or no root mode. Then install 7 eleven. You shouldn't get anymore mock locations errors

  • The 7-11 station said my voucher didnt work? i got him to try several times as well? its happened before at this particular store. Could they just be declining the vouchers?

    • +1

Happened to me on the weekend, but the operator forgot to push a button or 2 on his terminal before I scanned again and it was fine.

      • +4

Got hold of the customer service and they refunded me the difference :) also topped my account with a little extra Cheers 7-eleven!

        • +3

Yeah, their customer service has really been on point whenever I've had issues.

Hats off to them, they're doing good work.

  • I forgot to lock in a price yesterday, should I lock U91 at 135.9 or wait a couple of days? I'll probably have to fill up on Thursday or Friday

    • Lock in the WA price ASAP

      • Malaga prices are way higher than available in script. Example 95 is 173.9c.

        • we are doomed!

        • @Era: Yeah, looks like I missed out. Thanks anyway!

        • @shiznit: Then I guess you can wait as the other states are slowly coming down, you might save a few cents per Litre.

    • +1

i didnt lock in this morning… now i regrets

  • Is the link dead?

  • Welp. Looks like I'm doing wish + woolworths 4c off.

  • +1

This is odd. Was just at a 7/11 with someone else and I locked in locally (saved 5c/L) but when I scanned it the attendant was like 'you saved $2.. But you know you can lock in anywhere..? Like if you're 'driving around' in Melbourne you might get a cheaper price..'

I'm in Brisbane so 'driving around' Perth or Melbourne might be my new hobby XD

    • +1

An attendant on our side! And he/she was right, Bacchus Marsh is cheapest at the moment.

      • I had a $1.57 locked in for PU95. Went to scan the voucher, the attendant looked at it and said it's cheaper here ($1.49) Their price is not reflected in the app though. Lurnea NSW. My lucky day.

        • +1

What would 7/11 say about not being able to lock at a set price?
          *Glitch

  • +2

There was a news in CNN yesterday that oil prices are falling

    http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/28/investing/oil-prices-down-sa…

    • +4
      • As per Trump, CNN is FAKE news, so CNBC can be trusted 😂

      • If anyone knew for sure which way oil prices were headed they would be incredibly wealthy by now.

      • +1

        Another news from Australian channel

        https://apple.news/AfKkTVmMDSw24pw2YjUIFdQ

        • +4

“What we should hope to see is that equate to anywhere between three and four cents a litre being shaved off the prices here in Australia and after a year almost… of consistent world oil price increases, this is finally starting to turn.”

Emphasis mine. I don't think any of us here care about a 3 or 4 cent saving. We can save a lot more by beating the cycle and travelling over the country.

  • +3

Regrets when i was too stubborn to lock in u98 at 1.49 and now it's skyrocketed.

  • I can't get the stupid thing to work properly on my Google Pixel 2XL! First, it wouldn't let me sign in, then it let me and all seemed ok. Now it's not working again!

    • Did you get it sorted?

      • Can't seem to get the 7/11 app to work properly at all.

        • This works on my Pixel 2XL

        • @tryagain: I wonder if it's to do with mobile network? Which are you on? I'm with Virgin.

        • @whodidthat: Telstra, that might be the difference

        • @tryagain: Are you not able to log in?

        • @agam2104: I can, sounds like whodidthat can't though.

        • @tryagain: I finally got an answer from 7-11. There are problems using the app with some carriers/networks, the chip.

They say they are looking into it but for now (in case anyone else has problems) turn off, remove chip, turn on and use wifi to sign into app, turn off, insert chip, turn on again. Should be ok unless you sign out.

  • Any know if their local has anything decent? Everything's 1.60 for 95!

    Also, website appears down

    • I Have a voucher for 31 litres of pu95 at 1.58 if any one wants it.

      • PU95 is $1.57 at Mount Pritchard NSW (31 litres isn't very much unless you have a motorbike, plus you can lock in a whole cent cheaper!)

        • I think zenith2k3 might b rounding up

  • +3

Someone keeps attacking the site, server usage is constantly at 100% and goes to 0% once I enable protections on CloudFlare. Also large number of hits from IPs based in UK & US. Apologies in advance for any intermittent downtime.

    • +8

      7/11 is watching us

    • your site is working fine.. I just locked in at Mt Pritchard.

    • +3

Block all UK, US or all international IPs except Australia.

      • +2

Yep, blocked the main offending countries and it seems to have done the trick.

        • Isn't Cloudflare serving up captchas for fake traffic? They should be blocking it all automatically.

        • -1

Don't block all int IPs. I fuel lock for fam when I'm overseas. :/

        • @KBZ: Just get a cheap/free VPN. Worthwhile when you're overseas anyway due to dodgy Wi-Fi connections and the like.

        • @machej: But what if there's really no need to block all international IPs?

        • @machej: Doesn't appear to be. At least on the default Medium/High settings.

        • @master131: So just UK/US IPs are blocked?

        • +6

@sween64: Well given that there a people who are locking overseas legitimately, rather than outright ban countries overloading the server, they have to complete a "challenge" to visit the site which puts the bots at bay and the humans in.

        • +3

@master131: Nice one! Thanks for your persistence with keeping the website up for us.

        • +2

@master131: wow! thanks for putting so much effort just to keep the script running! Kudos to you master! you should be named Legend!

        • @master131:
          Excellent!

        • Has 7-eleven engaged a fleet of Russian botnets?

  • +1

have a u91 135.3 voucher spare now not need for half tank. pm if want. expire saturday

    • sorry voucher have issued now

  • +5

Guys, don't you think that adding the ACCC link ( https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/petrol-diesel-lpg/petrol-p… ) to the first post might be useful? That helps to understand the cycles - and also suggests what we should expect in terms of prices for the next days.

    • +3

Or this link. Takes awhile to load on iOS Safari but you can select the cities you want and have them overlaid.

      • +1

        Thanks, I've added that.

  • @master131:
Site seems to be showing a more expensive price under All vs what’s available in NSW?

    https://imgur.com/uO0vII2

    • It's just been updated!

  • +2

Might pay to hang off til Monday and Lock in the WA price if it keeps dropping.

    • Monday is always the cheapest day in WA.

  • Oil increased overnight again by 2%.. Not sure if we'll see a drop before going back up or not.

    Any thoughts?

  • +10

I reckon everyone who is using master131's script should consider supporting him by committing patreon subsciption. $1 a month should be less than most people's single tank top up saving.

    • +4

I hate recurring charges. Would gladly consider a once off contribution.

      • +1

You can subscribe it then cancel after the first payment which I think is 1st of June, that makes you do one off payment. You can add more money to the subscription if $1 is not enough, but make sure you remember to cancel after the first payment otherwise you will pay the same amount in the later months.

        • lol I really screwed up. Thought the payment would be taken immediately, so I cancelled straight after. Will have to redo it now.

        • @marquise:

Next time when you pay for something, better sit down and have a read before proceed haha

        • +4

@daiwai: But this is ozb, have to be really quick at registering a new acct and payment or the deals disappear fast!

    • +1

    • +1

      How do I do that?

    • +1

      Done and done

    • Done

    • +3

Only 7 patrons? C'mon, I know this is a bargain site but I would have thought there are more patrons. C'mon lets show master131 some support!

      • yup almost saving 20-30$ easily in a month by the master script.

  • +4

Mate it'd be simpler if you just put your Payid over here.
I don't want to sign up to another service and then have them charge the card etc.

Instead of giving commissions happy to support you direct

    • +7

While I would love to make it easier by providing a PayID or even a PayPal donate button, I want to maintain a level of privacy/anonymity. Unfortunately, those methods would not give me that.

      • I thought you could set up any random string of alphabet as the Payid, isn't that anonymous as well

also I don't see anything illegal being done here by you heck I would do it 100 times if I knew how to do it

        • +1

I have a presence outside OzB (nothing illegal but it could make me a target). Most banks that implement PayID utilise a mobile number as an identifier. And upon confirmation, it will display the recipient's full name.

      • Bitcoin = anonymous

        • Bitcoin = sudo-anonymous

        • @SBOB:

or 'pseudo' if i'd spelt it right ;)

      • PayPal donate with a new ID.?

        • Or just make a new email address and link it to your regular PayPal account.

  • +1

Anyone else using the script getting an ad showing a penis with vaseline on it on? Anything you want to tell us @master131?

    • +11

You sure you haven't been searching for naughty things lately?

In all seriousness though, it's a finger. The ad network does the QC, not me :p

  • The new projectzerothree link is down.

    • It's up for me… here are the latest prices as of this post: https://i.imgur.com/hrUY6LR.png

    • And it's back up again.

      • +1

There was a routing issue for people using Telstra which made the site appear it was down.

  • +1

151 for 95 is ridiculous and it has been like this for weeks.

    • -7

Just stop your crying it's the sign of the times

  • U91 136.9 Bibra Lake WA
hasn't been reflected on 11-seven yet

    • should i lock in now or should i wait for a couple days and see what will happen.

      • Aren't there cheaper local non 7-eleven's? Otherwise yes lock in.

      • +2

cheaper with egiftcard and 4c off atm

        • Depends where you live, but this is true for me in Sydney as well.

        • Link to a write up on how this is done?

        • +2

@chiragb95: Just buy 5% off egift cards for woolies from wherever (cashrewards, entertainment book, racv) and pay with that, along with 4c off receipt docket.

        • @0lllllll0: So the price would be @ (bowser x 0.95) - 0.04 = what you'll pay per liter if I'm getting that right?

        • +1

          @chiragb95: Basically. Technically bowser less $0.04 x 0.95

        • +5

          @chiragb95:

IE: bowser price is 148.9 for u91.
          Voucher component
          148.9 - 4 = 144.9
          E-gift component
          144.9 x 0.95 = 137.66

Effectively 7/11 lock needs to be cheaper than:
          [Bowser - voucher] x 0.95
          For 7/11 to b advantageous

          Reverse the maths

          {[Best lock on 7/11] x (100/95) + 4c}

          Currently for U91@ 136.9
          (136.9 x 100/95) + 4 = 148.10

WA will go up tomorrow. NSW and VIC are unlikely to be as cheap in a couple of days.

        • Agreed. There's a public holiday in NSW (other states?) this weekend, so I'm thinking prices will rise on Thursday or Friday.

        • @Rod71: Vic has a public holiday on Monday for the Queen.

It would be an early rise for Vic/NSW. Not due for a rise for about 2 weeks. NSW didn't rise for the Easter weekend.

Interesting to hear comments. It's like hearing stock analysts predictions. Keep them coming!

    • It's on 11-seven now.

  • +7

Can we just take a moment and reflect on how astronomical these prices are?

Late last year we were flirting with $1/litre. Now we're flirting with $1.70/litre at the top of the cycle.

I was calculating my driving costs at 1.35c/L, thinking that's an upper limit. Recently it's been a lower limit :(

      • So glad my car doesn't need ULP98. Folks car does and it's costing $90-$100 a fill.. Which lasts a week (if you're lucky).

At old prices it cost $70 a fill!

        • +1

          $90 petrol only lasted a week? 400km metro 600km driving a week?

Are you a tradie or cab driver?

        • @LoveBargain15: an xr6 can easily drink that amount of petrol every week.. So basically it doesn't matter if you're a trade or not.

          @angelkulit025:
N9t everyone is driving Xr6, one full tank will last me for 2~3 weeks when i drink 40km to and from wor each day with peak hour traffic.

        • @LoveBargain15: quite easily. Their car seems to get ~500km on one 60L tank. We live in acreage.. It's not hard to go more than 100km in a single day.

Yeah, anyone trying to reduce excess weight in the car? Remove the toolbox, the spare Tyre, the Jerry cans… :)

      • Keep the jerry cans to fill up with fuel in outliers in the 7/11 price.

This might save a few litres per drive. Gotta Be the most fuel efficient commodore.

Don't think it's legal to remove the spare tyre (not smart)

        • +1

You could replace it with a light weight patch and inflate kit.

        • @sween64: Many new cars do this to save weight AND cost. Spare wheel/tyre can be up to 30kg, and cost $100's of dollars. Emergency inflation compressor only weighs ~5kg and costs ~$50.
However, if you get a particularly severe puncture or a side wall puncture the the inflation kit will not work and you will have to call for Roadside Assistance.

@billy_bob: That exact thing happened to me on a drive from Vancouver to The Rockies in a Chevy Spark. Fortunately everyone that helped us was very lovely and ended up with a hotel at off-season rates, a cheap tow to the nearest town, a sandwich even when the kitchen was closed and a FREE new tyre fitted.

        • @sween64: Wow, that is great service!

  • Can't seem to lock location now despite clearing app data. Seems to search for location immediately on app opening. Any ideas?

    • +6

Dunno but I have given up on using the mobile app and haven't looked back since downloading NOX

    • Any error messages?

    • Got the same problem now. Really annoying.

I'm getting 138.9 for 98 in Hallam Victoria … not showing on @master131 page.

    Be quick!

    • Thanks for the tip!

Just got the u98 for 138.9
      Thx

      • wow just went up :(

        • Yup … gone now

      • How do you reset or remove your lock?

        • +2

          by filling the tank

        • Go to 7/11.
          Fill 2L.
          Scan barcade.
          Pay.

          Gps mock in car.

@chinezejew: probably you need to find another different 711 servo if you want to use the recently locked voucher or it will raise concerns.

        • @angelkulit025: agreed, unless you can prove it's a local (non-mocked) lock.

          @angelkulit025:
          Never such experience

        • @Lad92:

          Never had a rejection.
          *Screenshots with wrong time
          *Android to iPhone screenshots
*PC Nox I've tried to type barcode digits to barcode generator app

Personal experience I've never been rejected

          I agree with your concerns

        • @chinezejew:

          Go to 7/11.
          Fill 2L.
          Scan barcade.
          Pay.

What if the voucher price is higher than the posted price? Can you still scan the voucher and release the lock? Do you end up paying the higher voucher price or the lower board price?

        • @salmon123:

          Good point.
Never had locked price over 7/11 bowser.

There is always option of new account setup.
          Deposit $80.
          Lock again.
Use 7/11 credit deposited to pay.

        • @salmon123:What if the pump price is cheaper when I fill up?

If the price at the bowser goes lower than your locked in price, don’t sweat it. You’ll only pay the lowest price on the day you fill up.

        • @shiznit:

          Does it reset your lock?

        • @salmon123: yes but you still have to scan it

    • How did you even find that? Well done!

How did you even find that? Well done!

Not sure if that comment if for me or @chinezejew

If it's for me, someone posted the price on a fuel savings whatsapp group … they found it using petrol spy.

        • Ahh Petrol Spy. I've been using Gas Buddy since master131 asked us to and it wasn't on that.

        • Thx. Good info. :)

        • +2

@sween64: There shouldn't be any real need for GasBuddy anymore, I made some tweaks recently :)

        • @master131: Do you still use crowd sourced info? You must for Qld and Vic.

  • I keep getting Velocity rule brach - too many requests (Error code Lima) on my Galaxy S8+ and my wifes iPhone - have just installed and never used fake GPS; in fact I've just set up my wifes account on her iPhone. Any ideas?

    • Are you getting the error when trying to add a credit card? I get a Juliet error and just have to wait it out.

  • I've got a voucher for U91 @ 136.9 up to 51L. PM if you want it. It expires on Monday.

NB If you can lock in now U91 is currently cheaper.

    • lol, I have the same. Took the punt on WA being the cheapest last Monday, and lost ;)

  • Fake gps not working on my Mate 9. Location engaged but when i check the google maps, it still show my current location. Anyone has a clue or solution to this?? Thanks!

    • +1

Simple and stress free solution is NOX.

    • Which fake GPS you using?. The simple solution will be a restart I think.

      • i already restarted and im using the fake gps free spoofer - the one with the compass logo. I also cleared my cache and still nothing happens.
