Also with superloop now. They said no pro rata

        • +1

          yep superloop don't prorata.

    • You'd probably get refunded pro rata, so may be best to confirm with SL.

      • +1

        They dont

    • Same boat/question for me… My SL is paid to 19 Dec.

  • +1

    And referral codes?

  • +1

Im with spintel and Ive had horrible experience with their costumer service/internet service which lead to 3 years without phone usage and 3 weeks straight without internet - this because they didnt warn me about infrastructure changes in my area even though they were still charging me for providing adsl2+. When adsl 2+ internet was working (as my service was incredibly patchy) my typical speeds were 300-700Mbps which is an absolute joke. Also had constant dropouts, sometimes internet would stop working for 3days-1week at a time (I mean wtf and not even because of bad weather). If I had to estimate my internet was up less than 90% of the time. As mentioned earlier my adsl2+ stop working exepectly at which point I was forced to moved into their nbn service after. This happened earlier this year, I had to organise the switch over to nbn using a public payphone, which was a horrible experience in itself and meant I had to buy their overpriced tplink modem because I couldnt shop around. I was told that the modem had "nbn" settings prefigured and its "plug and play". This was not the case. Also they failed to provide my with telephone login details and I was left without landline for a further 5 months.

Fast forward a little bit and now im on the 50/20 nbn plan but signed up 5g TPG which is going to be in my area come end of the year. I cant wait to leave these jokers behind (hopefully 5g tpg is good), but what a massive fk you to "loyal" costumers this black friday special is after having spent years dealing with their shitty adsl2+ service.

Clicked on the deal, price is showing at $69, not $49.

      • Derp! My bad!

      Use the code?

  • +2

I'm with more through CBA offer and in the middle of Bill cycle ($54 for 50/20) just paid the bill 12th Nov, worth upgrading?

    • +2

On similar boat, if I join Spintel on 30/11, I will lose half month of usage worth $27, but save $29.40 for the next 6 months with higher speed. Hmmm.
Actually I will lose more : T&C from More Telecom: you may terminate it on at least 30 days' notice, taking effect at the end of a Billing
Period (eg if you give notice on 26 March, your Contract ends on 30 April next).

If we cancel today, we still have to pay up to 31/12. Bugger

      • Same boat here aswell. What happens if I just removed payment method whilst still under contract for the additional month? Not familiar enough of the implications of contract law. Can't imagine it'd be something they'd bother chasing up.

        • don't think it's worth your credit report (in case they report it) for not paying the bill

      • Where can you see this T&C? the site does not say anything about 30 days notice?
        https://www.more.com.au/help/how-can-i-cancel-my-service

        Update, found it: https://www.more.com.au/storage/policies/March2021/9FNO72i6b…

Month-to-month, casual or ‘no contract’ terms
If a Plan or Contract is described as 'month-to-month', 'casual', 'no contract' or similar:
        (a) we may terminate it on at least 30 days’ notice; and
        (b) you may terminate it on at least 30 days' notice, taking effect at the end of a Billing
Period (eg if you give notice on 26 March, your Contract ends on 30 April next).

      • what a joke, cancel anytime! They just play words.

    • +1

Same here $69.30 for 100/20, going to $49 for the same. I will save $20.30 per month or $122 for the 6 months…so yes for me it is convenient.

Would a Telstra Nbn modem be fine with spinel? Thanks

    • +1

      Yes

      • Okay thanks.
Is there anyway to tell if the modem is locked to Telstra or not?

        • +1

          Never heard that though

  • Anyone sign up successfully? Promo discount says -$0 even with the codes at bottom applied

    https://ibb.co/5RK9J0z

    • The mobile webpage is real buggy, stuffed around with it too - have to click on the other boxes again for name, address, payment etc and fill them in again.

    • I believe the Promo is at the very bottom of your image, (Promo Credit) -$15.95 and -$20.00.

  • does Spinel use pppoe or ipoe?

    • +1

Pppoe based on there FAQ section

    • i've used them all on the ABB or Belong (F@st 4353) routers, all work by just change password details (HFC)
      Think PPPoE

    • +1

      It's PPPoE, I have Spintel.

  • Might actually jump on this. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Great price. Cheapest 6 months NBN hopping is around $55 for 6/12 months for 50/20. This is about $5 cheaper while 2x faster.

Used Spintel previously when hopping between Tangerine/Spintel/More. They are pretty much the same.

  • Moving to a new place later this month. New rental. Do I need to get a new modem if I sign up to one of these deal?

    • Depends what nbn technology is at your new place and what you already have. Best case scenario is you end up with FTTP and you'll only need a router.

      • Thanks

  • +1

I am going to join them with this promo and ask them to delay my connection to March 2023. See how it goes with their customer service

    • +2

      March 2023?? Lol

    • +1

      Good luck with that.

This is their response via WhatsApp:

[24/11, 8:41 am] +61 403 838 952: you will need to start the service on or before the 30th of November to avail the deal.

  • Referral please.

  • +1

Has anyone switched to yhis deal?
How fast is the connection process?

    • +1

      very fast. 1-2 hours

  • +1

I am with Superloop too. Do we have to inform them to leave?

    • +2

just churned to Launtel this week. After signing up, immediate dropout of internet then their status page stating 'Order in progress' (or something similar). Took about 90 mins to receive a text message from SL wanting confirmation that I wanted to port. After replying, took about 5-10 mins to be online.

      On FTTC - YMMV

'Assume' the process would be similar with Spintel.

      • You don't have to call superloop on the phone?

      • Launtel is pretty good (if not the best( with churning in terms of transparency on order status

    • It almost always depends on your technology type. You'll have issues with a service that doesn't really do the traditional "churn" (fttp). With fttp, you can have 4 service lines. If they detect that you have a service on the port, then they'll just provision the next port.

You'll effectively have two services running concurrently.

I believe it's the same with hfc.

So you'll need to call them if you have this tech type and tell them that you want to cancel.

  • +1

how come i got a 'Invalid Promo Code' when redeeming BF20 at bottom right corner of the checkout page?

  • +2

note to those churning from Superloop:
Services are charged monthly, in-advance, and will remain active until the last day of the current billing period. Because of this, Superloop does not offer pro-rata refunds of service if you request to disconnect your service(s) part way through your billing period.

  • Thanks OP. With superloop now - lucky my next payment (month in advance) hasnt gone through yet . will churn by next week. Interested in a referral code . Please PM if anyone is keen.

    • My SL bills in 2 days..presuming ill be safe if signed up today ?

  • Submit order button not working. Anyone else have same problem. I am doing it through mobile browser.

  • Damn, invalid code using PC browser and mobile

  • +1

Would have been a good deal if you could schedule the connection date. I just paid for a month with my current ISP and they don't offer any pro rata refunds for the remaining days left.

    • +1

Can't schedule. This is from their customer service:

you will need to start the service on or before the 30th of November to avail the deal.

  • +1

thoughts on going with spintel on the 100/20 plan for 6 months and then switching to zoom, whom you can schedule a connection date?

  • Thanks! Been meaning to port out of AGL for a while and this is appealing!

  • Thx OP

  • Not sure if referral code gets stacked on this deal. However, I just talked to Customer Care. If one can share email address and mobile number, then they are manually going to generate referral code under my account.

If anyone wants to try their luck, just DM me with your email and mobile number.

    • I can only refer “Once”

  • The referral credit is $50 for the referrer only right.

    • +1

Right. But sometimes the referrer could split the $50 with the referee if there was a mutual agreement and the referee trusts the referrer. I got a code from an OzB member last time and let him keep the full $50. Better that someone benefits than no one at all.

  • +1

Anyone churned from HFC? How long did it take for you to connect?

  • Thanks. Just signed up. switching from Superloop just in time as I'm due to be billed Dec 2. Hopefully all sorted before then.

  • +3

If you game online and require low latency don’t use Spintel

    • How?

      • +1

How what? Ask any current Spintel user to do a trace to a game server, you will see the amount of hops, but that’s not the worst, if the server is in au it still sends you around the planet to get back to au, well that’s how it was for me

This is a great deal and I gave a + but if you have gamers in the house they will hate. You for changing, ABB good for gaming, I’m with More, it’s okay

        • +1

Does this depend on location, or would you say this for all states?

          • +2

@melans: I want to say for all but have no idea - Im on GC from memory trace went Bris>syd>singapore>germany>somewhere>somewhere>back to syd then to game server in AU - this was for Escape from Takov as that was the prb at the time - we also had high pings for daughter on Valarant and Roblox

          • +1

@melans: All traffic from SpinTel runs back to their only POP in Sydney and out to other countries from there. This results in higher latency.

Telstra, Superloop and Aussie BB for example have local POPs all over AU and lower latency.

  • Please do not ask for referral codes in comments

    • Is there a random referral link for Spintel? I found the page with the referral links but Spintel is not listed.

      • See updated description:

Please do not ask for, or offer referrals in the comments. Post in the Classifieds > Wanted section to split the referrer bonus with a willing participant. As the referral offer is for the referee only, we won't be adding it to OzBargain's random referral system

        • Got it, thanks.

  • +6

just an update to save others time, had a word with Customer care and you WON'T be eligible for a discount if your activation date is after 30th Nov i.e. deal expiring date as per terms. So 30th Nov is the max date that you can have to be eligible for the offer.

  • Is spintel network compatible with xiaomi routers? Thanks

  • +2

can't choose connection date as per support response:
Please note the Black Friday deal is till the end of the month. And orders with a on hold date after the 30th will not receive the black Friday deal.
If you want this special offer you have to sign up before the 30th of November and start the connection from that date.

  • +1

You can't schedule start date. It needs to be activated before 30 November

From their customer service via WhatsApp:

you will need to start the service on or before the 30th of November to avail the deal.

  • Thanks OP! Just wondering how long does it take to process, so I can cancel my current NBN without losing internet?

    • +5

Just cancel after they've connected you.

Looks like they will be connecting everyone by 30th November if you want the black friday deal to be valid

  • The website is being absolutely hammered right now.

  • I tried both 29 and 30 November 2022 connection date and still get the error message "Oops…Invalid Promo Code".

    • Doesnt work with the "as soon as possible" connection date either

      • Time to give up

  • Getting "Pre-Authentication Failed. Please check with your bank and try again, if you are unable to proceed please call us on 13 22 10." with my credit card when trying to checkout. Hmm.

    • same happened to me, I just used bpay/Direct deposit, They didn't charge me anything and it went through

      • Just used my bank account to sign up, will switch to CC once my service activates.

  • -6

So dumb, why does the connection date have to be before 30-Nov.

Got 18 days left on launtel

    • just calculate the saving you will got vs the 18 days left.
      cant always win

    • Because that’s their deal. Why should they accommodate everyone’s current service dates?

      • -2

almost every other nbn deal is flexible with connection dates, this is probably the first ive come across that isnt

    • Just pause launtel, use your credit at a later date.

      • yep they confirmed, pause for 60 days and will retain their discounted rates.

      • Launtel has a button to refund credit online. BUT this button disappears after some time (60 days?) and you have to chase customer support for the refund.

  • I think the site is getting hit, can't process the order on my pc.
Edit - all good received the email, web page just hung
