Welcome to the ultimate guide of Microsoft 365 subscriptions

No VPN needed. Requires Apple Türkiye ID.

I know many of you use Microsoft 365 applications and OneDrive for storage and since Australian prices are pretty ridiculous, I had to find an alternate solution (and I did - TR pricing is 91% off AU pricing). This is probably an error, as it's not meant to be this low - and what's the catch? You only get these prices by subscribing via the Microsoft OneDrive app.

If you don't know what Microsoft 365 is, then it includes Access to the latest updates, Multiple devices and platforms, Ongoing technical support, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Microsoft Editor, Microsoft Defender, Clipchamp, OneDrive Clound Storage, Microsoft Family Safety, Microsoft Teams, Access (PC only), Publisher (for PC only), Microsoft Forms & Skype. Most of these features are unavailable for the Standalone Office Home & Student Bundle

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google Drive, Disney, relocating to Turkey is sometimes the best option, with some methods saving over $100 AUD a year (Praying for Türkiye right now IYKYK).

Instructions

Please read the following instructions carefully. Before proceeding, make sure you DO NOT have an active Microsoft 365 subscription

This guide looks extensive (because I try my best to explain it simply for beginners) however if you've done this before then it shouldn't take you more than a few mins (for iOS at least) as you can skip most of these instructions

Part 1 - Turkey Apple ID

If you already have a Turkey Apple ID, proceed to Part 2

If you DO NOT have a Turkey Apple ID:

  1. Create a Turkish Apple ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com/account

  2. Follow the onscreen steps. In the mobile number section, use your Australian mobile number (Very important to use a valid number or risk losing your ID). Choose the country as Turkey. Then follow through the rest to create your ID.

  3. Login into Apple ID on a browser. Go to this link to enter a Turkish address (you can get a random address here) to your Turkish Apple ID. Select payment method as "none" and save.

Part 2 - Loading your Turkey Apple ID with Turkey Apple Gift Cards

  1. Buy TL (₺) iTunes gift cards (Make sure you only buy Turkish ones, only comes in 25 TRY and 50 TRY denominations) from TurGame > Choose currency as TL/TRY See how and pay with a debit/credit card (use a card that has no international transaction fees to avoid the any extra costs). All transactions will have a certain "Payment Partner Fee" attached - at checkout, choose "Credit or debit card - PAYTR" for the lowest payment partner fee (it's very small)

  2. Go to Settings on your iPhone/iPad > Your Name > Media and Purchases > Log out from your current ID and login with your Turkish Apple ID

  3. Redeem iTunes gift cards by going to App Store > Account (located at right top corner) > Redeem gift cards or code.

Part 3 - Downloading OneDrive

  1. Once signed in with your Turkish Apple ID, download OneDrive from the app store. If you already have OneDrive installed using your Australian Apple ID, proceed to Part 4

Part 4 - Subscribing to Microsoft 365

  1. Boot up the OneDrive app and sign up or sign in. Click on Menu > Upgrade to Premium. You should be able to see Turkish Lira prices for monthly subscriptions.

    Where are the annual subscription options? You will not see any annual subscriptions, nor be able to subscribe to it directly from the app, as Microsoft hasn't loaded any annual options into Apple's In-App Purchases

    Still seeing Australian prices? Restart your device

  2. Subscribe to your desired plan. Apple will deduct from your Apple ID Balance as payment each month

    Note: If you've never signed up to a plan before, Microsoft will offer you a free 1-month trial, followed by monthly Turkey prices thereafter

  3. You’re done! Enjoy your subscription :)

Q: Will I need to turn VPN for this deal?
A: No! This deal does not require VPN

Q: Why is OneDrive showing me Australian prices, rather than the Turkish prices I am expecting?
A: Restart your device to fix this issue

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month. Note this only applies to when buying the gift card.

Q: I have an existing Microsoft 365 (AU) subscription, can I use the same email?

      For me on average, takes around 1 hour.

      I recall someone saying mg try another payment method but you will need to wait for this one to fail first.

        nah it didn't, I tried on 2 different apple devices - gave up and went back to a monthly subscription because I lost access to my emails. I'm going to go onto a workplace discounted yearly subscription after the monthly subscription expires.

    I could not previously activate the plan for the given prices above. They were showing up a few more times expensive. So I waited about a couple months going about my usual activities. Subscribed today with the exact prices mentioned above with OneDrive upgrade notification. Just to let you know I had my VPN on via UrbanVPN trial. It may or may not had an effect but anywho, thanks ISP big time and Turkey.

    so my credit ran out and i can't resubscribe to Microsoft 360 family. My outlook email says my storage is now full 18 used/15gb and my onedrive says 1gb used/1tb available.

    ive since loaded more credit into my turkey apple id, but it's not reflecting on the outlook email storage. when i goto the OneDrive app on my iPhone its showing 1gb/1tb 0% used and it says Microsoft 360 Family. When i go to manage storate it says im on a current plan of microsoft 365 with 1025 gb.

    not sure what to do.

            @EnergicAU: In the OneDrive app, press the diamond icon to upgrade and it pops up 3 options including the basic, 1TB , or 6TB in TK currency. I chose 6TB and worked. I used a just in case. Just trying others and still working too like YouTube Premium and Discord.

    I have received email from Apple saying

    "Billing problem and update payment information"

    I added apple credit about 1 year ago and i never checked.

    Currently, I have 1660.1 Lira in apple account and my only subscription is onedrive and it is only 23.99 Lira which means I have enough credit to pay next 69 month.

    I do not know what to do. I do not see any problem. just worring that maybe they do not take payment from apple account balance.

    Anyone received same email from apple?

      I got the same email today.
      "There is a problem with your payment method which may prevent the renewal of this subscription. To avoid losing access to your service, please update your payment information."

      I checked my apple account and still have 84.09 TRY so should have enough for a few more months. When I checked my subscriptions it said my MS365 had expired, but after clicking into it, it says it's active again and continues 16 July. I guess I'll wait and see what happens after the 16th.

    Couldn't create an apple id when doing it through the browser. It kept saying couldn't verify my phone number even though I keyed in my actual number.

    Borrowed my wife's ipad and I managed to create an apple id through it.

    For the app store credits I bought through Turgame. Tried the 50 TRY card as a test first and it worked, I got the code almost immediately after purchase. Then I tried the 500 TRY card next and it was stuck at processing for almost an hour before I received the code.

    I'm still on the ₺23,99 subscription, but my Outlook storage reverted to the basic plan yesterday, putting me over the storage limit.

    I have a feeling they have fixed this to be a OneDrive subscription only.

      I had a similar issue about a week ago.

      I followed the instructions and it started a free trial for the family subscription through the OneDrive app. Once the trial ended, I got a notification on my Microsoft account page that said my subscription had expired, despite the subscription showing as active in my Turkey Apple account. I too only had the 1TB avaiable in OneDrive, while other apps only showed having the 5GB allowance.

      I canceled the subscription (not that I think this did anything - it would still be active for another 4 weeks until it expired) and after a few days, my OneDrive also showed up having only 5GB of available storage. I was then prompted to subscribe again in the OneDrive app (despite still having an active subscription still in my Turkey Apple ID) which, after doing so, said that I already had a subscription and the subscription was re-enabled in my Apple ID subscriptions.

      The pop up suggested hitting the 'restore purchases' button which I had to scroll down for on the OneDrive App subscription pop-up. It seemed to get stuck at this point on my iPhone, but my iPad seemed to restore the purchase successfully and now it all works again.

      Quite the ordeal haha, but it seems to be working good now. Don't know if this helps, but maybe cancelling and re-subscribing might sort it, or maybe hitting that restore purchases in one of the Office 365 apps may work too.

        Hitting restore on my iPhone did nothing, I might have to login to an iPad and try that if it worked for you.

        I had been lazy and not maintained my inbox, so had to delete 6GB of newsletters to get under the 15GB limit and receive email again.

    Getting Netflix, Spotify, YT or whatever is one thing, but using these platforms that are gonna store your photos and important documents is a bit different.

    Microsoft might crack down one day, or limit what you can do, and you may end up losing access to your email, photos or documents.

    Not everyone can afford Office365, but if you're going to use this 'deal' try and keep a copy of your important stuff somewhere else.

    This just worked for me now, following all the instructions. The only hitch was getting the Turkish Apple account in the first place. Did not work on Windows or Android, but it worked fine on the iPad I borrowed to do all the other steps. Thanks so much OP.

    Note to anyone trying to buy gift cards, Turgame will decline purchase when it is unable to send through the digital code for the credits. I suspect it doesn't like the Australian phone number.

    Just reloaded my Turkish iTunes account with giftcards from Turgame. I didn't have any problems with Turgame, didn't need to verify, but the card did take maybe 20 mins for it to be verified. I was going to go with Eneba after reading some previous comments, but Eneba was substantially more than Turgame. For a 300TRY gift card, it was $22.59 AUD (Eneba) vs $13.54 AUD (Turgame).
