Why the price increase? Werent these 688 last month?

    • -1

      i3 CPU option last time

      • +3

That was the $658 version. For $688 you got the i5

        • +1

Yep 100% correct it was $710 delivered last time for the same system

  • +6

Luke I appreciate the price (and build) of these systems extremely happy with the price/performance, however, still query the optimistic expectation of "Shipping ETA 10-15 Business Days." Still awaiting a system from 23-Apr which has just shipped.

    • +2

Mine too, hasn't even shipped yet

      • Which system is this? Happy to look into it for you.

        • The 4060/5600 Build. I have reached out to Caleb through email and he says that it should be shipped either today or tomorrow. So, currently waiting for that. Thanks Luke.

          • +3

@dystopiachoa: I was told the same thing. A week later, with no contact at all, I tried again and got the same message.

            • @Uncle Bert: Damn, that's too bad. I kinda need a Windows PC to onboard for my online examination, but I guess I got to start to look for other alternatives. Not shipped today, so if today is not shipped either, then probably wouldn't reach me by then.

Did you get it shipped already or still haven't received it yet until now?

              • +5

@dystopiachoa: I have it now. Luckily, I was in no hurry.
They promised 2-7 day delivery. It was weeks.

No explanation or apology was really what soured the whole thing for me. If they'd just kept me in the loop, rather than making me open a new ticket because what the previous one had said turned out to be lies, I wouldn't be online complaining about their terrible service.

I also want to point out that there was a loose screw just floating around in the case. I have no idea where it came from. I can't see any missing anywhere. So the whole QC phase thing is just another layer of crap.

Don't rely on them if you need it in time for anything. They will absolutely leave you on read and then tell you it's coming tomorrow when nobody has even looked at it.

These guys are beyond atrocious when it comes to shipping and delivery. I posted on here about my order being weeks out of ETA and got the same 'happy to look into it' message, but that just feels like cutting in front of some other customer.

They hit you with 3-4 'your PC is being built', 'your PC has been built', 'your PC is about to be tested', 'your PC is being tested' texts in a day or two, then nothing for weeks.

If they'd just been upfront and kept me in the loop, I would've been happy to wait. I won't buy from them again. Told my mates who were waiting to see what the quality was like not to bother either.

      Sucks.

      • +1

Sounds like their name should be TechSlow amiright…. I'll leave now.

        • Haha. You should stay. They probably won't get around to reading your post until 2030, so at least stick around for some snacks.

  • Are the 50 series worth it over the 40 series?
    Say a 4070ti super vs the 5070ti

    • +3

Do you already have an RTX 40 series card? If so, no, as the performance uplift isn't particularly great

But otherwise if you're jumping from an older generation or nothing at all then yeah, given 40 series stock is becoming harder to come by

      • No i have a very old pc i need to update.
        I missed out on these 2 ryzen 7 7800x3d with a 4070ti super deals
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/846210
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/889974

didn't see the deals until it had expired.
Haven't been in a rush and looking to pull the trigger so been waiting for something similar. it's getting close to tax time so at some stage after tax I'm looking at getting something. Have read the 50 series were weaker than the 40 series.

Hoping these deals popping up are better with the newer cards but haven't read much convincing me otherwise

    • +4

The 40 series is discontinued, so there's nothing adequately discounted.

    • +2

I use this as my go to for a quick answer on what card compares to what

Small uplift, no way it's worth an upgrade. It's still better if you were looking at both cards at the same price.

    • This 5070Ti is basically a 4080S, so if you have a 4070 Ti or higher I'd hold off until next gen. That or maybe wait for the rumored 24Gb 5080Ti, which seems like it would sit in a really good niche (and may also be stupidly expensive but that's a separate story).

  • Hi OzBargain Community,

I’m currently using an Intel NUC9i9QNX with i9-9980HK, 64GB RAM, and RTX 3060 Ti for 4K video editing in DaVinci Resolve. It’s starting to struggle with Fusion effects and transitions.

    I’m thinking about upgrading to either AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D + RTX 5070 Ti or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D + RTX 5080

Has anyone got experience with these setups for DaVinci Resolve? Would an upgrade make a big difference, or should I just upgrade parts of my current rig?

    My questions is:
    1. If anyone here using DaVinci Resolve for heavy 4K editing on either of these setups, or something similar? How’s the performance?
    2. Would upgrading to one of these combos make a noticeable difference for video editing (not just gaming)?
    3. Alternatively, is there anything in my current rig worth upgrading (rather than a whole new build) to get better performance for 4K video editing with lots of effects?

I’ve also posted this question on the forum for more input Seeking Advice: Upgrading PC for 4K DaVinci Resolve Editing — Ryzen 7 7800X3D + RTX 5070 Ti/5080 vs Current Intel NUC i9-9980HK. I’d really appreciate any advice from the community, especially as most reviews online focus on gaming rather than creative workloads like video editing.

Thanks so much for your help!

  • Hi, is it me- i cant see a link to the itx machine? Just a mid tower -r7.

    • +2

It was edited out by the mods, probably because the last deal is still running for the exact same thing.

  • +1

    Is the description wrong? 12400F + 4060?

  • -2

    5060 deal when?

  • Tempting but the reports of build/shipping delays put me off. I'd rather pay the extra $140~ in the PCPP list and build myself so I could be up and running sooner.

    • Hard to source the 5070 ti though.

    • Nebula PC have a 7800X3D/5070Ti on special at the moment. I too was afraid of techfast shipping delays so I went with Nebula. Only ordered last week so can't tell you how long it will take sorry.

      • Ordered mine on the 14th, delivered on the 26th.

  • Guess they don't sell GPUs anymore. Got my 3080 from them.

    • they did sell 5080 alone when it was first released here.

  • +1

I am still waiting for my system, “testing” for 8 days…

    • Ideally thermal tests should be at least 8 hours IMHO. (in a heated room say 25 degrees rather than cold warehouse).

      • 8 days = 192 hours, reckon that's long enough?

        • :) Next step is to test it inside a volcano.

    • Based on my experience, you're not even close to halfway yet.

  • +2

Sick of seeing that shocker of a mobo on these higher tier pre-builts, they even tried to get away with flogging it with a 5090 build, oh dear…

  • +2

Just my usual heads-up that this motherboard does NOT support PBO2 out of the box, meaning your CPU will leave performance on the table. There is a way around this using hacked BIOS files, but this will void your warranty and can brick the board. So yeah DYOR, YMMV etc.

My recommendation is to see whether you can get an upgrade to either Gigabyte Gaming X AX or something MSI, as the Gigabyte Gaming WiFi Plus really is not a good product.

    • Does it matter if I have no intention of overclocking and am happy with running the CPU/RAM at default settings?

  • Hi Luke, any EOFY deal on the non-ITX i5-12400F/4060 combo instead of the 4060 Ti version?

  • hello I would like to place an order for this build. can you let mel know the ETA will be waiting for this pc to be shipped once I place the oder?
    Thanks
