    o 0 lord!

  • This is… Interesting…
All I want to know now is which stores stock the Xbox 360 E.

  • -1

$20 better than the Big W deal pretty sweet deal

    • bigw deal includes a game.

  • I gotta admit that's one crazy Microsoft redemption deal, everyone will be getting one this christmas/boxing day !

  • Actually the Big W deal is better because it comes with Batman Origins for $98.

  • +9

To Batman, or not to Batman, that's is a question.

  • Everyone! Let's camp outside!

    • +3

oh. you're thinking the old batman and boy wonder.

  • Is the Batman game any good?

    • -1

      does it matter?

      • +2

of course it matters to someone that doesn't know…

      • +1

        sure, when there's a $20 difference relative to a $79 price point.

    • Don't think it is as good as the previous two.

If you have a half decent PC, it is $20 on GMG and Amazon atm.

      • cool thanks, the target deal looks like a winner.

      • +1

I think it's basically the same as Arkham City. The main gripe people had was that it was basically the same as Arkham City. AC was a big change and big improvement over AA (which was already a good game), but AO is more or less the same thing which disappointed a lot of people. If you haven't played AC, then AO is still a great game.

    • I was in Big W (just before they were closing, I was really tempted to buy it, but they didn't have any Forza 360 games in-store).

I ended up getting the $179 deal @ Target and bought Forza 4 and Forza Horizons instead. :D No regrets! (Definitely gee'd after seeing this Horizons gameplay (y) tops +99 http://youtu.be/xRtOEY3mOjE and Forza 4 Lotus smooth gameplay http://youtu.be/3hN8XuVxz-w)

  • +3

I hope Sony comes to the party and does something similar very quickly…

  • How much of a limitation is the 4GB storage capacity? It sounds like you'd barely manage to get a couple of games installed at a time.

    • +6

I bought a decent 16GB USB3.0 USB drive to plug into a rear USB 2.0 port (I bought the BigW deal with MineCraft). I've installed GTA5 onto the flash drive, and it runs fine!

      • That's cool. So you can use any external hard drive to expand the memory? So I can use a 3.5" drive, or a 2.5" drive. Mega good if that's the case. There's always a spare external hard drive lying around.

        • +2

The maximum you can use is 32 GB per USB drive. Even if you have a 4TB one, only 32GB can be used.

        • Not ideal, but not absolutely terrible. 32gb flash drives should be pretty cheap soon.

      • Brilliant, I didn't know you could do that. The 4GB version has a bit more utility then I guess.

    • +1

Any Downloadable Retail game (Such as Gears of War, GTA or Halo) will not fit onto the drive (bar some).

Older Arcade games (such as Castle Crashers or Braid) would fit most of the time.

      DLC will vary.

      Short answer, very limited.

      • Thanks for that!

  • +2

anything else decent in the catalogue? i checked targets website and lassoo but they dont have this catalogue up :(

  • Can see many a crowd outside target for that one. Still remember doing that for rock band few years ago!

    • +1

      bring pepper spray!

  • +2

    I'm really hoping for a Sony deal… >.<

  • Amazing price. Kind of tempted to get one.

Am I right in thinking that you can use the controller with a PC? Do you need to buy an adapter or anything?

I've just watched a review of the E model, which I've never heard of before - and the review basically says that it's virtually the same as the S model, arguably ever so slightly worse - doesn't have optical audio.

    http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/microsoft-xbox-360-e/4505-1…

    • Yeah - get a $10 usb adapter.

    • Yes you need an adapter for the controller, even some el-cheapo ebay ones will do (according to other Ozbargainers here)!

    • Yes. I bought a cheap ebay one. Works fine 99% of the time, but sometimes annoying to sync. YMMV.

  • might be worth selling my 120gb elite and getting one of these slim ones. the elite can sell for $100 easily anyway.

    • +5

It may not sell for $100 easily now that these deals are available.

  • Someone in the Big W post mentioned that you could get a game like checkout chick simulator for XboX 360. Where can I get it from?

  • Good lord that's cheap, glad MS is doing this and not going down without a fight.

  • hahaha all the BigW buyers probably crying right now. Good job Target.

    • +1

They would be crying if they bought it now anyway…cashback deal doesn't start till boxing day…

      • Yep, no one's buying now. 6 more sleeps!

    • BigW deal is arguably a much better deal.

  • how is the xbox 360 as a media center? I want to be able to stream videos from my computer to the TV!

    • Pretty ordinary due to lack of codec support.

It can, however, act as a media center extender, which is awesome ;)

      • thanks for the reply all I'm after is something I did back in the days with the PS3 and something called PS3mediaserver, i've been out of the loop for awhile but i was very satisfied with what i was able to do with the PS3/ps3mediaserver application.

  • Not a smart idea by Big w or target showing better deals than their current catalogues, talk about bad management. Now everyone will wait

    • Microsoft probably announced the cash-back scheme after the catalogues had been printed.

  • +1

and ING paypass for a further $4 off.

    $75

  • Target has it wrong, mentioning the 25th. Promotional period runs from the 26th, according to terms and conditions of the cash-back promotion.

  • STAFF DISCOUNT!

…sadly it's back to 5% on Boxing Day.

  • which target stores are open on the 26th in sydney, my local store is closed on the 25th and 26th

    • Looks like Bondi and Broadway(both open 7am-7pm). Otherwise your closest will prob be Warrawong/Shellharbour or Erina/Tuggerah if your up for a drive.. I'll personally be at Shellharbour..

      • +1

ta, might see if the local target catalog will have this as well for the 27th

  • +1

if you buy two $30 coles myer gift card from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127200 that's another $10 off. If you pay the gift card with ING even more savings.

  • just a thought, if HN is part of the cashback, it would be $48 after cashback

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/xbox-360-4gb-console-black.ht…

if the AMEX $30 statement credit is taken into consideration, the console would cost $18.

    • That might not be the right model (based on the picture).

    • If this really is part of the cash back deal I will be all over this!

  • This is the best deal for me. I will buy the console for $70 all up, because I get 5% off $179 with staff discount card. This is a dollar more than Microsoft online store is charging but I get to go in store to get it, which is more convenient than online.

    • Not it isn't. The Microsoft store one includes 2 free games as well.

      • +1

And all but two of them are Kinect games which you won't have or want (and are subject to stock availability). The other two are Gears games which are the most likely to be out of stock if any are by then. I don't really care about Gears 3 and Judgment if 1 and 2 are not included. Weird titles to bundle it with.

If I have to do warranty, I'd rather do it with Target than MS online. Also, I'll know if they have it in stock instead of it getting sold out and put on backorder and not shipped until after the cashback period ends..

  • +1

I love it how everyone is splitting hairs over $10-20 when I reckon most people will miss out due to demand. No boxing out the front of shops on the 26th people!

  • +1

Can Netflix and crunchyroll be viewed on Xbox without gold? I'm looking to replace my piece of crap Minix G4

    • No, I don't believe it can. You can still access the app, but I believe it will no longer work without a Gold membership. Deal breaker for me.

Don't really need an Xbox as I still have more than enough games I've never started on the PS3.

Will definitely grab another PS3 if they go sub-$100 as that will do Netflix.

May as well go for a second PS3 rather than another WDTV Live given they're the same price.

    • and why is it listed as boxing day when it says purchase from 25th

  • +1

What if the console is being bundled with kinect? Is it eligible also?

  • +3
  • It's going to be chaos at midnight when the promotion hours live. All of us spamming every online shop imaginable.

  • Are you really though? The rules state that you have to receive your console on or before 31 December to be eligible for the cash back. If you order and then get it delivered either to you or your local store, what are the chances of you getting it in time.

  • This is an absolutely stupid deal, It's stated that you have to keep your receipt, go online, purchase between the 26th to the 31st and have to complete a form and then it will be sent to your legible bank account. Pretty stupid just to get $100 off, i know that's pretty damn cheap tho, but why make us go online etc, what if we have limited internet accessibility, or have ran out.

    • +2

That's the whole point of cashback promotions, they don't want to pay up.

  • +1

And everything went out of stock before midnight, surprise surprise.

  • What a joke

  • Guys, available on JB:
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/xbox-360/xbox-360-4gb-e-…

They have a clause there saying:

Offer valid on purchases made online between 25/12/2013, ends 31/12/2013.
Limit 1 per customer. While stocks last. Please read the terms and conditions.

So they're saying that the offer is valid online, we can hold it against them and kick up a fuss if they don't come to the party?

  • +1

$179 click and collect is available.

    http://shop.target.com.au/p/xbox-36-4gb-console/54691278

    • Bummer… I just purchased mine from Big W for $198

      • Click&collect from bigw says jan7th

    • might as well just get it delivered if you're not near a Target

    • Not an I stock click and collect necessarily though, says it could be 4-10 business days. Could be in store, who knows, stock doesn't seem linked to stores in the store.

    • I went the click & collect option just after midnight, didn't want to risk missing out and couldn't be bothered getting up at the crack of dawn tomorrow for the sales.

Does anyone know yet if you need anything from the physical console such as the serial number in order to submit the cashback claim?

  • I've bought with click-and-collect at Target too. Hope the cashback all goes through smoothly!

    • Are you just using the electronic receipt? I don't think you can use it and will have to wait for what's provided when you pickup. I'm unsure as the T&Cs are a little grey.

      • yeah I was going to try to use the electronic receipt. I'm hoping I can always return it if I can't get the cashback? I don't need to open it yet, as its a spare.
        I'm just worried that I won't get one in-store on Boxing day…

      • On closer inspection of the T&C's:
"4. For the purposes of this promotion, pre-ordering an Xbox 360 4GB console through an Australian retailer will not be deemed an Eligible Purchase. Further, the Offer is not available for products that are still awaiting arrival into store or delivery to the customer."

So looks like unless I pick it up before the 31/12, it WON'T BE ELIGIBLE.

On my email confirmation it states:
"We are unable to update, change or cancel your order as it is has now been sent to our warehouse to be picked and packed for you.
However, you are able to return your goods to us for free of charge once they arrive with you."

So looks like I can return it if it doesn't come in time…

    • I'm not sure if it will as I received an invoice that says "Estimated collection date 07/01/2014 to 09/01/2014" so I'm not sure if I should cancel my order as I don't know if I'm eligible.

      • I'm thinking the same, Target doesn't have an estimate on delivery so I'll call on Friday and if it's not turning up in time I'll cancel it.

      • +1

According to the T&C you won't be eligible if pick up is at those times.

        • Purchase date is surely the date the product was purchased when money was exchanged (being 25/12), assuming the redemption period is in fact 25/12 - 31/1 (as per the main page) it shouldn't be an issue

  • On the cashback form, Purchase Store or Retailer is Target but what about Purchase Location?

    • Wondering the same, would it be Online or the click-and-collect location?

  • Ordered mine from target few minutes back and waiting for invoice. Did any one receive invoice as attachment?
I just got an order confirmation email.
Should I wait for the actual invoice to claim?

    • I've only got an email confirmation so far.
I'm going to wait to see if I can pick it up before the 31/12, or get a proper receipt via email.

  • I guess it depends on what they intend by 'pre order'- if they mean consoles ordered before 25/12 then fair enough not including these in the promotion. But if they also mean ones ordered online between 25/12 - 31/12 where the retailer confirms there is stock (ie click and collect) not being included then that's a bit unfair imho. In this case they should say its for stock purchased in store only. We will see.

  • Gah.. Sold out! I guess I'll be buying in store at big w if they have stock left -.-

  • +2

Looks like the cashback site got updated. As long as you purchase between the 25th and 31st, you can redeem between the 25th and the 31st of January:

Register your details here during the redemption period. The redemption period is 25 December 2013 to the 31 January 2014.
