What have been your most memorable OzBargain moments?

So, Ive now been an "Ozbargainer" for almost 19 months, and there have been a few occasions, this site has produced "moments of excitement" for me, it has taught me many things, for example, I always check to see if cash rewards is payable on a website ill make a purchase from!! Ill always check to see for discount codes!! I come to Ozbargain many times a day. What though would you say have been your top 3 "bargains" sourced on Ozbargain? Here are mine in no particular order:

(1) The great Deals Direct 50% off sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108983 bought to us from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/2061 I personally bought into the hype and amongst many useless things I bought- somehow I decided that day that 18kilos of tinned pineapple was something I needed!!

(2) The $840 return airfare to Los Angeles was a brilliant impulse purchase https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/137780 thanks to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/27551 for this pearler.

(3) Free QANTAS points? Im a sucker for these and this deal got me super excited https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151161 thanks to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/22092 I scored myself 100.000 free points!!

Honorable mentions go to all posts relating to Woolworths discounts, Flybuys tips, Amex discounts and hotel discounts.

Thank you to everyone that contributes to this site, Merry Christmas Happy New Year, and Keep OzBargaining.

  • Probably one of the most memorable so far…

$0.01 multifunction card from gear best https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163348?page=2#comment-2327…

  • memorable for me when it was a price error but store honored my purchase.

Most memorable for me was the Free $40 Rebel Sport gift card with $1 subscription Ended up getting two gift cards which I am yet to spend for $2. Second fav deal would be my $500 Macbook Air which was an impulse purchase but definitely worth it. The recent COTD sale was fantastic too, finally picked up heaps of Eneloops and my first Chromecast! Getting roasted on my recent deal on the Macbook Pros was definitely memorable, never been negged so hard before haha. Thanks to the ops for posting great deals over the past year :)

Going back a bit now, but in 2010(?) during the World Cup, QQQ from COTD promised some great deals if the Socceroos won a game. They did, and QQQ came through with his/her promise. I think I bought a million chupachups for a buck or something.

      You had a million dollars?!

    1) The Great Logitech Keyboard War of 2012, when FlingShot and LogitechShop engaged in a late night price war on Ultrathin iPad Keyboards. Still use mine to this day :)

    2) The $19 Kobo Mini eReader, which was so cheap that I've spent more on the e-books than I've spent on the reader itself!

    3) The Free $40 Rebel Sport voucher from News Ltd, in return for a $1 subscription to one of their papers. Not a fan at all of News Ltd so was glad to get a $39 profit off them!

    4) The Scoot launch sale, which although I didn't find out about from OzBargain, was an excellent sale and I managed to get four return flights on excellent dates for under $1000, meals and bags included.

    5) And last but not least, the old Hungry Jack's $2 Whopper and Fries, which was run on two separate occasions. Wish they would bring this back!

Honourable mention to all the discounts on random things that I was going to buy anyway, all the freebies, and all the honoured price errors :)

the free Canadian Club cola whiskey is memorable for me because it was the first time I had alchohol.

the Dick Smith 'Game On' sale. It was crazy, everything was so cheap and there were so many people. It didn't go well though as Dick Smith staff kept the best items for themselves.

    • the jamiesons $22 gift cards were pretty awesome.

The Renault $200 test drive best 15 minutes of my life. Thanks Ozbargain

  • The (EA) Origin store glitch. Any game under $20 was made free due to the lack of restrictions on pricing limits.
Now to work through that pile of shame!

Also the free tins of paint by Wattyl. Still need to paint the whole house with it!

    Thanks OzBargain!

Definitely has to be when suicine94 was trying to get a class action together to sue supermarkets over non-freshly baked bread a.k.a "fake bread", revealing that he keeps his bread receipts to claim on his tax return.

I laughed for at least 45 seconds.

I liked winning four Coles free product competitions.

I also liked getting a couple of thousand free flybuys points during the time they were giving points for doing tell coles surveys for each member of each flybuys account. I'm guessing the popularity of this trick, before they changed the rules, was the reason they reduced the points allocation to 500 points per account per month.

Has to be scoring the Jacobs Creek Mystery Flight & Accommodation deal for sure!!!!

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85335

Spent $180 bucks and had 12 bottles of wine, return flights and 2 nights for the girlfriend and myself in a hotel in a mystery destination. Cheapest damn weekend away ever.

It shall forever go down in Ozbargain history.

perhaps they need to change the hotness of a deal to an algo based on percentage of users active in past week that click + on the deal

My vote goes to the forum post of HELP a fellow ozbargainer stuck in Shanghai getting home!!! which is an epic read till the last post.
Glad to see the OZB community helping each other.

Half my household was bought through Ozbargain. Too many things for me to be able to mention. I fondly remember how the guy from Good Guys had to get authorisation from his manager to sell a 54" Panasonic Plasma below cost (pricematch based on this deal). Became even better as it came with a Wii + games by redemption (kept the games, sold the Wii for a few $100). Of course the $9 Dell printer (got the WiFi multi-function model) was memorable.

But my most epic bargain was an Acer Iconia tablet. After spotting this deal I got Officeworks to pricebeat the 16GB WiFi model ($249 - 5%). I asked them to put it aside, and would pick it up later. When I got there, it wasn't there. After an argument with the manager, they decided to order one. I got a phonecall later that week saying "we can't get the 16GB model. Are you okay with the 32GB model for the same price?". Well, yes! When I picked it up for $236, it turned out to be the 32GB 3G model instead of WiFi-only, retailing at >$700!

  • Convert those 100,000 QFF points to cash. I'll pay $1,000 for them. PM me.

    • not wanting to sound obnoxious but 1.2 - 1.4 c/pp is easily acheivable elsewhere (gumtree) sorry mate.

  • Scoring several $20 gift cards for Masters (for free) has been my highlight

Coke rewards -$20 ticketek voucher for each bottle redeemed

  • For me it's probably a $24 Wii U Basic Skylanders Bundle (plus 3 Skylanders), courtesy of the Big W Massive Toy Domination Sale. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148583?page=1#comment-2057… for details.

It didn't seem to get much interest at the time, but the Wii U finally arrived today (due to the online sale being laybuy only with November delivery) - hooray!

As a relatively new OzBargainer it would have to be the free t-shirt from Kinchrome earlier this year and they hardly send me sales emails as part of the deal. Funny how a simple free t-shirt can brighten you day! ;-)
