    • -6

Honda Commercial Lawn mower down from $1199 to $600

Good price for a Honda mower.

    • (Altona store)

Shame only tradies can buy it as it doesn't appear to be available online.

      • Not available online because it's a deleted line with minimal, if any, stock left (same thing applies to any other item they sell which is on clearance for the same reason)

    • +1

First, it's a good price on a reasonable mower.

That said it's very curious Honda named that model as a 'commercial' mower when it's far from their actual commercial range (the HRU216's) - and also vastly inferior in numerous ways. And I've never seen a contractor using one of these ones, they're really for home buyers who they must feel will be fooled by it being labelled 'commercial.

Still hard pressed to get a better mower for the money so I'll give the OP a + mark for that. :-)

    • +1

      I'll wait until it's 50% off. ;)

  • Merged from [QLD] EGO Backpack Link with adaptor kit 7.5AH rapid battery and charger kit BH1005 for $350 @Total Tools Coopers Plains
    Go to Deal

First post ever, my Ego mower's battery blew up last month which was purchased from the Master's deal years ago.

After making an insurance claim and thinking to get a larger battery since the last one only can mow half of my lawn.

Was looking at Blackwoods $439 for the backpack and battery. Thinking of going to Total Tools might be able to do a price match.

Luckily they are on clearance now with even better price.

I got this from Coopers Plains which has 2 left, and was told East Brisbane still has a few left.

Website is still showing full price, not sure whether this is national wide.

I was after the battery only but now also got a rapid charger and backpack.

    • Great price. The 7.5AH battery is normally $450 alone.

What happened to your battery? Did it blow while in use or charging?

    • hopefully East brisbane doesn't sell out before I can get to it to pick one up…

      • Checked East brisbane, and they don't

    • called Coopers plains, and they are all out of stock of them.

Sydney Tools lists the JR3050T for $269, so this is a great price if you can find one.

  • Merged from [NSW,PS4] Spider-Man and Dreams for $5 (in-store only) @ Harvey Norman Auburn
    Go to Deal

Saw this at the Harvey Norman Auburn flagship store this afternoon. PlayStation 4 Spider-Man and Dreams games for $5.

There were about 8 copies each game left.

    • THis is a really good game.

    • Still $48 online

    • +3

If I saw that for $5 id buy it. I dont even own a PS4.

      • Do you think it would be worth a trade in at EB?

        • 100% would be worth it.

    • what other games were $5?

      • Only this other one called Dreams.

    • Damn that's a good deal. I regret paying it for like $19 recently and then trading in my PS4 Pro before I got around to opening it…

(just went to consider returning it to Amazon and realised I actually ordered it on 25 May.. oops. How time flies)

      • if you call amazon they would let you return it

  • Merged from [NSW] Logitech Combo Mk470 $50 (in-store only) @ Target Castle Hill
    Go to Deal

    Hi all,

I have been looking for a secondary full size keyboard for my mac. I just came across this one which was $79 usually if I dont get wrong. I did a search for other retailers around $88. It maybe not that sweet, but still not bad for a wireless combo from Logitech. Not sure sitewide, but a call dosent hurt I supposed. Enjoy your day~

    • Appears to be the only one left judging by the photo

      • It was 3 left when I took photos:)

        • +1

          Questionable amount of stock.

          • @golferpat: ring around, I think each target may have one or two since the price just droped.

    • +1

Good deal! I've used this keyboard before and it's pretty comfy. Not a fan of the pebble mouse though, much prefer a mechanical switch over the haptic quiet thing Logitech was going for.

    • Does this work on Apple devices? Asking for a friend.

    • Just be prepared to replace it in a year or so. These cheapo Logitechs rarely last long. The mouse is pretty bad IMO. If you are looking at el cheapo combo's though they are mostly the same.

      • maybe just your bad luck, I got quite a collection of mice from them and non failed so far, from the cheap $20 all the way to the mx series, same with keyboards, some wireless model have crap ranges so you need to be mindful where to plug in your receiver.

        • We have an office of around 45 people of which we supply cheapo keyboards to due to stupid reasons. We go through so many. I'm not talking about a few failures, I'm talking about majority require replacing within the year. Whether it's the mouse wheel stops scrolling, cheap plastic in the keys breaking so they stay down, letters rub off, random double presses or even requiring harder presses. I'm talking about decent use though, so using it almost daily.

    • Lol, I was just coming on to say I love the pebble mouse, not sure why all the hate. Its perfect for travel (remember that thing we used to do)

    • Couldn't find this available on Target website, so looks like it might be a store-specific clearance.

    • +1

Don't recommend. The keys get rubbed off in a few months.

  • Merged from [NSW] iPhone XR 128GB $649.97 @ Costco Marsden Park
    Go to Deal

iPhone XR 128GB $649.00, Costco Marsden Park, not sure if this is in all stores

    In store only

Mod: Insufficient Quantity/Out of stock on Posting. Likely only 1 available.

    • +3

Marsden park is Northwest Sydney in case anyone is wondering- might want to put NSW in title until confirmed elsewhere. Pretty good price.

    • Good price good phone.

    • +2

Just left Costco Bundamba after seeing the deal on the XS Max posted earlier https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/563343
And this one is still the ticket price of $749.97

      • which one better ?

        • +2

The XS is the better iPhone. Same generation release but with oled screen and an telephoto len.

    • +2

If your budget is fixed, this is pretty good for a 2 year old iphone.

The SE is a much better value proposition imo.

Also, new product announcements are around the corner. (Which may or may not have anything of consequence to someone looking at this phone)

      • +1

Obvious difference in screen size and battery life though. The se is tiny.

        • "Tiny" being relative. The SE is a giant in comparison to phones ive owned in the past.

          • @ddr0001: Tiny compared to all phones on the market for the last decade right?

    • +15

I’d take this over a 128gb SE at $829 anyday.

      • +14

Yup definitely, paying $180 more for more bezels, smaller screen, worse battery life and a slightly better processor. Not worth it. This is basically the slightly downgraded version of the iPhone 11 for significantly less (almost half price).

        • +1

Yeah the better processor isn’t worth it. I’d rather trade off for a more modern design. Even the midtier Qualcomm chips are still very fast. Seeing this video made me realise how little difference there is with the A13 chip.

          https://youtu.be/480_5nZJ_8A

      • +5

My son has the SE and I have the Xr. The xr is A lot better

        • Does he agree with you?

          • @0jay: Yes. Lol he’s waiting for me to give him my phone. Only thing he doesn’t like on the XR is the no home button. But I didn’t like that in the beginning till I got used to it after a week or two

    • +7

Very good price, just $50 more than Pixel 4a which I think is worth it. Since it's not OLED it's not as vibrant and contrasty as Pixel 4a but Apple LCDs are still very good with very nice and crisp whites as well as absence of the usual OLED issues like black smearing/burn in etc. But I would still take an OLED over LCD any day. Battery life is better on the XR, but camera is marginally worse. But it still takes good photos (same camera as XS). I'm using Pixel 4 right now and coming from iPhone I like iOS much better, people praise the Pixel software for 'pure Android experience' (AKA more-iOS-like experience with few Android touches) but there's quite a lot of bugs in the software which really surprised me.

      • -10

        Yeah pixel no good

        • what's your reasoning?

          • -4

@avgbowlofpho: Crap battery life, crap camera, laggy when apps open and changing apps, crap email app. In comparison to XR, that’s a very shit phone. Also ugly emoji

            • +4

@jackinyourbox: You immediately lost me if you think Pixel 4a has crap camera. It goes toe-to-toe with iPhone 11 Pro.

              • @edfoo: i'd actually argue that the Pixel has a more natural camera quality in comparison to the iPhones. But I can't deny the ugly emojis…. they're not the best at all

                • -1

@avgbowlofpho: By natural you mean over processed HDR right? They never look like real life at all, only look good when compared side by side with other phones.

                  • @onlinepred: fair enough you make a good point about the overprocessed HDR. but it's objectively better than the iPhones

                    • @avgbowlofpho: Yes the white balance is mostly always more accurate. Still lack details when enlarged if you ever want to print, but so does iPhone pro I guess.

              • @edfoo: Only for fixed shots. No macro, no wide angle, no variable aperture, no optical zoom etc etc. Mic also is pretty average for video. Basically if your severely creeps the hardware of the pro then you could compare them

            • @jackinyourbox: How do you know that the Pixel 4A is a shit phone when all you have to go on is reviews from the internet? (Phone isn't released until the 10th)

              • @kerfuffle: I owned a pixel, and pixel 4xl as well as various Samsung’s. I had thought it was Samsung’s bloat which lead to unresponsiveness but I’m pretty sure it’s android.

They were the same where no matter what the beefed up specs were . ended up laggy after a few months.

I don’t have any issues with iPhones doing that other than updates to iOS which slowed down the phone because of a major os update.

Anyway, iOS apps are better than the play store versions which is a big plus in overall user experience.

            • @jackinyourbox: A little lower….

      • -7

Android sucks ass and gets worse with every new update, but iOS is infuriating to use imo. I've got a OnePlus 7 Pro which I believe is the best Android phone, and although it is buggy so is my iPad. It's a lose lose situation but Android at least can be customised to how I like it, making tasks easier and more efficient.

        • What’s buggy about
Your iPad ? Got 2 that are over 2 years old with hundreds of apps and d run smooth as

        • I know exactly what you mean, dude. Android is the biggest ness of spaghetti code there is - but it's the closest thing to a personal computer on my pocket, which is what I need.

iOS is 100x better designed and uniform, but it doesn't do anything I want it to.

Between Iraq and a hard place.

    • -3

Excellent value good quality lovely phone. I’d buy this then update to an iphone 15 down the track !

iOS is the way to go for lag free world tier supported phones

    • +1

      How many left in stock?

    • Fantastic price for a great Phone …

    • +2

Good phone considering the 11 is pretty similar (the A12 holds up quite well compared to today's Android with 24 cores and 32GB RAM)

    • -1

      • Lol

    • Damn good price

    • Good phone, I still use it

    • -1

Able to use this for price prot claim?

    • Hm. Just paid $625 for an SE 64gb..

      • where from?

        • seems like it'd be from Voda

        • Not generally available or I'd have posted a deal.

    • Can officeworks price match

      • Have tried in the past & they don’t do PM with Costco

        • Thanks I did a google search and found that to be true as well.

    • Any available in Melbourne ?

    • So far away and I don't have a Costco membership. Damm. So tempting

From someone who is firmly in Android phone camp this is actually a great deal.
If I didn't have 2 Androids already I'd be tempted to purchase this as a backup.

    • -1

      None left

    • What is the regular price of something like this?

    • +5

Went to the store and can confirm that this is not available. The guy said that it was probably an open box/ last piece that is posted here

      • +1

If this is the case, and the OP hasn't confirmed anything about how many iPhones were available at this price, then it's a neg from me as this is misleading. I have wasted many trips to so called "bargains" in the past only to realise that there was a misleading post.

      • +1

Would have been the display model, usually thats the only time they mark down the price in pen is when they sell out and then go on to sell the display model.

        • I would have to agree with you. There is no picture showing the products that are marked down to this price on the shelf, no reply from OP to any members about how many are left in stock. The poor manager of this store is probably sick to death of people ringing up and asking about this "deal".

This is for the old tech display cabinet right?

    • +8

2gb 1050 Mobile is going to be slower than a wet weekend.

Useless for all but the most casual gaming.

    • +1

Reduced for a reason - this is old tech

      • +1

And for gaming, kinda miserable when it was new.

    • +1

      No ssd

    • +1

      7700? Bloody hell

    • +2

Oh come on… you can't classify this as a gaming laptop in 2020 😫

      • +1

        yeah. plays tetris lag free

      • +1

It was crap brand new. A 1060 is like 300% faster and that's what I'd consider the minimum for gaming these days

    • +1

How are people up voting this.

There are better laptops on market for a lower price now.

We're about to see a huge influx of deals for laptops with dedicated gpus in the immediate future. No bargain listed.

      • You might be able to play og skyrim on low though.

I've changed my mind. Whatta deal.

    • As low end as the 7700 in my mind is still the same as an 8 or 9 series i5

      It's just the 1050 2GB that's really kills it

      • Yeah it really depends how good the cooling is, but full wattage i7s are really future proof. Usually the GPUs that giveway more than anything else.

    • Too old

    • Yeah don't buy.

    • this cant be RRP $1600 surely…

Picked up a Bluetooth scale from Bunnings, Windsor gardens, South Australia.

    Hope it helps someone👍🏼

For when you can't see the display?

      • +3

It syncs with Google Fit so it's good if you want to keep track of your weight over time.

      • Well when your pet elephant sits on it, he can obstruct the view

    • You get lighter on bluetooth planet

    • +4

I don't often find the need to weigh any bluetooths.

      • +1

I came here to find out how much a bluetooth weighs :(

      • +1

Based on that logic, do you use kitchen scales to weigh kitchens and bathroom scales to weigh bathrooms?

        • I think it's based more on humour than logic.

    • +1

Anyone in vic (or even anywhere else) seen these elsewhere?

    • +1

Do they say, "One at a time please"?

    • What's the battery life of the scale?

I bought a cheap one from Amazon before and I think I have had to change the batteries twice already.

      • I assume these would last about once.

      • $16 amazon is 3 yrs old on supplied battery. Daily use

        • Which model did you buy I might give it a try if it lasts that long with daily use.

  • Merged from [NSW] Apple Mac Pro (Late 2013) $1749 (C&C only) @ Officeworks Alexandria
    Go to Deal

Mac Pro spotted at Officeworks Alexandria for $1749 down from $4497. Seems to be a 2013 model though. About 1k cheaper than used models on Ebay.

    16GB ram
    256gb SSD
    3GB dedicated graphics
Intel Xeon E5 6 core processor

    • +61

      That's one rotten Apple.

    • +14

Those specs are so wrong it hurts.

    • +28

I don't see why you would want a 7-year-old computer for $1750. Surely you could do better and get something newer and more functional, like a PC.

    • +30

You can't compare the RRP when it was released 7 years ago…

The sticker even says it was $1849 so you are only saving $100. Not too mention it's an absolute crap buy anyway.

    • +1

      Damn………Only Bluetooth 4.0, deal breaker.

    • +7

Apple tax is alive and well.

    • Lol yeah specs are horrible for 2020. Only use I see for this is if you're after this specific model for whatever reason, it's still brand new

    • +10

While its stupidly expensive for a 7 year old computer, its about 1k cheaper than used models on eBay….seems a bargain if you wanted one.

    • Only if you need Mac Compatibility. Otherwise the CPU is so old in that machine you can buy it used for $60 to $100.

    • +2

I’m actually surprised that a 2013 apple product has USB c ports

      • -1

Apple actually go ahead of time in terms of tech adoption, like the pcie based ssd around that time that only recently eventuated on mainstream computer now, but sometimes they picked the wrong side too.

      • +13

It's mislabelled, it actually has 6x Thunderbolt 2 ports. USB-C wasn't even around in 2013.

    • +2

They do still sell usually sell for over $2000 on eBay. So not a bad deal, but would be better off with a new Mac mini unless you really like the 'trash can' appearance of this.

      • +4

        Awesome deal.
Funnily enough, this trash can design wasn't successful but I think it looked fantastic

      • +1

You mean asking price or completed sale price? Nobody is stupid enough to pay that much for a 7 year old second hand computer. You're kidding!

        • You'd be amazed at how much used Apple computers go for… I wanted to buy a 2012-vintage Mac Mini and they're still going for nearly as much as they were new.

        • Used sold price is in the low $2000s. Some people still ask $3k+ but those listings don't sell.
Personally I also really like the look of this - people pay $2,000 for a sculpture, to me it's a bit like that plus it has some basic computing ability haha

    • Collectors item only for sure.

    • Get a x58 motherboard and pair with a x5690, max your 6 ram slots and decent cooler for a ~5ghz OC and your way ahead

      • My way ahead?

        • Just above you’re forehead

    • +6

If you buy this the neighbourhood children will call you a silly pants.

      • +3

Kids can be cruel, but they're not wrong

    • Mac Pro? Macdonald? A burger or laptop?

    • +1

This is a good deal if you're a collector of garbage bin-shaped computers I suppose?

    • +1

      Waiting for the Jack Pro.

    • Brand new I suppose. Maybe a deal for someone having an Apple museum on mind one day.

    • +3

If you want to spend this much on a 7 year old Mac, you might as well build a PC for the same price, with today's specs, and learn how to Hackintosh.

    • +2

Surely a late model Mac Mini is faster for cheaper…

      • Update: 2018 Mac Mini is $1749 with 512GB SSD, similar processor speed, half the RAM, and slower graphics.
So I guess $1749 for this is not that terrible, lol

    • +2

      As part the PCMR,

      BAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHHA

    • +1

The price sounds bananas for an apple that's not currant.

    • +1

Ryzen 4000 + Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 30 SERIES FTW

    • Over priced, like everything Apple

    • Such an old product, skip

    • -1

      well, this is rubbish :)

    • -3

Has apple really advanced much anyway in 7 years?

      • You'd have to remortgage your house, but the top of the line 2019 Mac Pro is over 4x faster than this one.

    • Would it be worth considering if $749. My brain hurts.

    • My dad beat me using this laptop. Brings back good memories. Thanks Dad R.I.P

    • AHHH the infamous trash can.

  • Merged from Pixel 4 XL 64GB $628 (Clearance) - Officeworks (Rutherford, NSW)
    Go to Deal

Stumbled across this while in store yesterday. Looks to be a clearance of the 64GB model, so I assume it's country wide. I got the last one at this store, so not sure what stock is like around the country.

Seems like a good buy for an unlocked flagship from Google. Guaranteed updates until October 2022.

They also had other Pixel 4 phones on sale but I didn't write down the prices. Think the Pixel 4 64GB was ~ $550, and the Pixel 4 XL 128GB was ~ $900, but would be good to get verification on the exact price.

    • +5

Pixel 5 will be released on 30 Sep

      • +3

For more than double this price I assume?

    • +5

Decent price, but personally I prefer fingerprint to face ID.

      Comparison to Pixel4a: https://store.google.com/au/magazine/compare_pixel?toggler0=…

I'd personally go with the 4a for the fingerprint and larger storage, but the wireless charging, water resistance and additional camera are very compelling features for the minor price difference. Especially if you need a phone right now

      • Those masks :D LOL

    • Was there many phones there

      • Last one at this store. Don't know what stock will be like elsewhere. Would be good to get verification.

        • Mean other pixels

          • +1

@chris666: Oh right. They don't actually display the stock, so I don't know sorry. You have to ask at the counter.

    • +1

Pixel 5 due any day. Optus aren't even listing Pixel 4 as an option anymore.

    • +3

No stock in my area. Good price for a great phone

      • Agreed, lots of people complain about the hardware being outdated but great camera and the best UI make up for it in my opinion. After years of LG and Samsung phones which were a bit meh I absolutely love my Pixel.

    • +5

I had a google pixel phone previously. It has some advantage in system update, but the phone quality is not that good. I will not even bother at this price…

      • +12

This. Only Google nerds really push the Pixel. They really haven't made a good phone since the Nexus line and they were only great because of the value to spec ratio.

This is coming from an Android enthusiast.

        • +2

😂 Google nerds. Agree the phone spec is terrible

Design is about 5 years behind

          • @sauce2k: I'm curious - what do you do with your phone that makes the specifications terrible for you?

            • +7

@[Deactivated]: Coming from a Pixel 3 owner who was looking at those really cheap deals for the 4
              - They have pretty poor battery life for the size (the normal 4 was dreadful)
              - Dim display
              - Soli wasn't what it was hyped up to be and was largely pointless
              - Missing features in the Aussie models (call screening isn't on Aussie models even 2 years later, duplex was only introduced this March despite coming out in 2018)
              - Google's very questionable QC and customer support
              - Camera whilst still fantastic at stills, their advantage is no longer huge and Iphone video performance is just better. Pixel 5 won't be too much better given as it uses the same camera system except its an ultrawide instead of the zoom.
              - Slowness to adopt new cameras. The 4, really should've had an ultrawide with a zoom lense. I use the ultrawide quite often on my front facing camera. Even apple adopted it for the 11 pro.
              - Continued frustration at Google's inability to commit to software services
              - Abandonning features. The Pixel 4 got rid of the front facing ultrawide sensor and the fingerprint sensor and added soli. The 5 brought back the fp sensor and got rid of soli.
              - There arent really any horrible Android skins these days. Back when touchwiz existed, stock android was a godsend but now One Ui, Emui and the others arent really bad.

Basically, it's substandard hardware sold at premium prices. However the "a" series phones have been great and the 4a looks to be the best in its price range. The Pixel 5 will be a "premium" midranger. Google is basically giving up on the high end market.

              • @VYCanisMajoris: Interesting perspective. Thank you!

My experience with the phone differs on a number of fronts especially regarding battery and camera, but I do agree with you on the screen brightness and missing fingerprint sensor (doubly-so in the age of face masks!).

I buy my technology based on what it's capable of on the day I buy it. eg features like the AI call screening (very cool) was never confirmed for the Australian market. For that reason, I'm not as disappointed as others might be for lack of new software features. As long as I keep getting timely security patches

My top five primary use cases are (in order) photography, media consumption, SMS/instant messaging, mapping and web browsing. For those, I couldn't be happier.

              • -1

@VYCanisMajoris: There is one very important aspect of Pixel series that has not been mentioned: End user experience!

Nothing comes close to Pixel experience, period. Current Samsung S8+ user here, with family members using Sony Xperia XZ Premium (near stock AOSP), Oppo A52, Google Pixel 2XL, Google Pixel 3XL and Nokia phones.

Unless you have tried, you will never realize how snappy, logical and complete Google Android experience is.

I agree with the comments that hardware is Medium range at premium prices. I guess someone needs to pay for R&D for all those "freeloaders" (aka OEM's that use Google Android for free).

                • -2

@vrsac: Yeah this comment doesn't hold up anymore. They don't even make good software and it looks like (profanity) trash.
                  I bet you use Linux.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: @OzDJ_: Probably a "bang for buck" comment - not saying it doesn't do all it needs to, but at that price the bang could be greater and thus last longer, or the same bang can be had for less.

            • @[Deactivated]:

              • Battery is a big thing for me the pixel is a major step back for me in this category
              • Camera is single lens..come on now…
              • Small storage and Cloud storage reduction by Google
              • Inconsistent face unlock

The design…….that bloody ugly notch and the chin

        • +2

At RRP I agree the specs aren't great value. Do you still feel like that's true at this price?

        • only the google nerds, what kind of genius puts a tiny ass battery into a phone in 2019 and expect people to buy

          • @[Deactivated]: I agree that 3700 mAh isn't anything special, but doesn't seem particularly terrible? The S20 only has 4000 mAh, so it's what, 10% worse? and that's not even factoring in bloatware that most manufacturers add.

      • +1

Agree the hardware sucks, the non xl version is probably the worst phone I've ever owned.

Battery life is a feature we all take for granted but when its not there … it sucks.

      • +1

This. Was a pixel fan because of the cameras, but these days so many great camera phones on the market.

        • +5

Any with clean ui and updates?

This is a genuine question by the way. I like -
Great camera - don't need gimmicks like 53 different lenses and 600 megapickles.
          Waterproof
          Gets updates for ages
          UI isn't full of rubbish
Back button on the left not the right.
Fingerprint over face id is preferred.
Has actual support, not Huawei or xiaomi

          • @brendanm:

            clean ui and updates

      • +4

        There won't be a Pixel 5 XL.

      • +2

To get that you need to sign up for a $65 per month contract and its more upfront compared to this as well

    • Seems like they're releasing the next pixel phone earlier than previous years which is usually November?

      • As Apple got event coming this week, I believe 3am this Wed

    • Solid deal! I'm already using a 4XL and even at the ~$950 price point I paid (not long after release) I feel like I got great value for money.

    • -1

I always feel Pixel phones (not the Pixel A series) are more for Beta testers who is OK with bugs in the OS. tell me a pixel which didn't suffer from major bugs

    • +3

none of Top 4 banks support Face ID on pixel 4. so you have to enter pin like a low end device which doesn't have a finger print scanner (like my current Samsung galaxy S5). applies to most of 3rd party apps too

Kogan currently has it listed for $1019 + shipping. 128GB model is selling for ~ $1200 at the minute.

    • +2

As a P4XL owner, that's a good price for the phone. I'll put it this way though, my next phone will likely be a Samsung.

      • Why don't you like it? I'm upgrading from a Samsung S7 Edge and was intending to stick with Samsung until I found this. Much cheaper than buying an S10+ (which I believe is the closest equivalent to this).

      • +2

Don't buy samsung. Exynos is awful. I hate myself for sticking with samsung. (S20 ultra user)

        • +1

Agreed, My S9 is dying only after around 30 months old.
My last S6 lasted 4 years, which I was expecting similar :(
Can't wait to get my 4A.

        • How would you feel if you had just bought a Ferrari at the same price as US customers only to find that you have e 700HP engine where US gets a 1000HP engine? The engine on your Ferrari also uses more fuel than the 1000HP US model and it gets hot quickly, even after a quick racing session on Great Ocean Road. You then have to make frequent breaks in order to refuel and for engine to cool down. My guess is that you wouldn't be happy and that you'd never buy a Ferrari again unless they released the same specc'd model for the whole world. (all Samsung US Vs rest of world phone analogies).

Samsung is selling a substandard, 2yr CPU in their flagship phones at prices equal to far superior Snapdragon CPU equipped models sold in US, Korea and other "important markets". Samsung, being the manufacturer of the Exynos CPU is pocketing the price difference at the expense of unknowing customers who are thinking that all components are of premium quality.

    • This is a great deal since the Pixel 5 probably use 765G to push the market which will make them to become one of the competitors in middle phone range just like Nexus time. But you should only purchase Pixel 4 XL since the battery is just normal and shut down the radar function.

    • Just rang West Ryde NSW, they said it was $786 when he scanned it, $628 is an error

      • Weird. Are you sure he scanned the right model? Mine was definitely displayed at $628 on the clearance sticker and scanned at the same price, so not sure how that could've happened.

        • Hi, doesn't the image attached show it is the correct model scanned.

          • @noddypiper: Yep that's what he said - he said he has no idea why it was $628 elsewhere

EDIT: Cheers mate for bringing this to our attention though, appreciate the effort. Upvoted!

            • @Gazpacho: Hey mate, did you end up being able to grab it for $628? Will showing them the picture of the receipt help?

              • @sosgold: Nope didn't try. Give it a go if you're keen!

                • -1

@Gazpacho: Gave it a shot but they wouldn't budge from the $786 it scans at. Basically an unobtainable deal.

    • Definitely was marked 628$ clearance at my officeworks (Southport). But the front desk just told me they're out of stock Aus wide now.

      Missed it

    • Will this likely drop even further in the upcoming months?

      • +1

Don't think anyone is stocking this any more, so no, I doubt it. There will probably be deals on the 128GB model, but I imagine it'll be a while before they're this low?

      • +1

normally with big price drop = almost nil stock around

    • I wonder if stores have a range and can set their own prices for clearance items? The same thing happened with the Samsung Tab S5e. It was on clearance and was cheaper here in Canberra than it was in Melbourne.

  • Merged from Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti GAMING OC 11G Graphics Card $999 + Delivery @ Shopping Express (Open Box Sale)
    Go to Deal

Here is another deal on the 2080 Ti, for consideration as the RTX 3000 series cards will be in limited supply.

Please note this was included as a "Opened Box Sale". From Shopping Express' site:
"They carry the full warranty terms as new, but because the box or packaging may not be up to our standard, we've lowered the price for you"

    • What does open box mean apart from the obvious? Like are they used already and then repackaged? Cheers OP

      • Open box is usually a return or display demo.

    • +13

More like 'Previous owner realised the new 30 series cards are cheaper and perform better so they returned these cards to us'.

      • lol

      • Good on them for allowing that though

        • There is usually a fee associated with returning it for no reason, so they can sell for 1k without loosing any money.

    • +1

Where were you when I needed you? My heart has moved on already, waiting on my new lover to arrive.

    • +1

That is a brilliant price. I've got the Pixel 4 XL and love it….. I'd grab one for the wife if I could.

      • +6

The battery life in the 4 (not xl) is atrocious dude. One of the worst experiences I've had in over a decade.

        • +1

Everyone's usage pattern is different I know, for me I charge my 4 XL to 80% before I unplug it and that lasts me 2 days before it goes down to 20%. I have to say I don't use my phone a lot though.

Pre-COVID the same charge pattern lasts me over 1 day easily.

          • +2

@chewkl: Yes, the 4XL is great, it's the 4 that isn't. That's what I said in the comment.

        • do tell

          • +1

@eriklee: S10e would barely get me through a day of some web browsing, messaging, calls etc. Pixel 4 (non xl) would last me almost half a day of the same use.

S10e does not have great battery life FYI.

        • This. After 3xl and now 4, next phone will be under the Samsung banner again :(

      • Weird. My comment reply to the comment above keeps going to this one.

Yup confirmed. Comments in reply to mmjjbb above gets directed as replies to this comment instead. Weird.

      • if you actually look the stand where they hang the prepaid cards, there was a Boucher which states the price as $1. They have to honour it, I would lounge a complaint on those staff members.

You should have recorded it and uploaded in youtube and twitter which would have earned you some money :)

        • I didn't go inside as I was buying ciggies, so was just standing outside at the counter when I asked for the phone along with my ciggies

If what you're saying is right though, then the staff defs should have seen the $1 sticker.
I saw the staff look at the display before finding the phone in the cabinet.

They just refused to finalize the sale and would not believe a $69 phone could be a $1

I thought about filling a complaint, but over $1?

Meh, I'll try tomorrow and see if they'll honour it.

      • 3rd gen still going for 1300? I thought the new one is like only 1500 ish

    • Did you get it? I got mine today and it was 2nd gen

      • It didnt say 3rd gen anywhere, actually it does say A1670 in the description which is 2nd gen. I guess you can say the photos are inaccurate and return it based on that?

      • Hmm it does say A12, so I think you should not have any problem returning it.

      • Yes I got it today and returned it immediately (no problems getting a return). No wonder it was $899. Pretty annoyed given the photos and description were all leading to this being a gen 3 device.

If the 4gb user spece is correct ( when new or factory reset without updates I'm guessing ), and maybe 3gb free after doing updates and

installing a couple of extra apps, then as long as you don't fill the memory up with loads of apps/messages/photos etc and time to time

clear cashe and clean it out, should be usable as a cheap smartphone. With these cheap smartphones you have to keep on top of them to

stop them from filling up. I had an older smartphone with only around 1.2gb free after removing any uneeded apps/clearing

memory/clearing cashe and after app updates with only a couple of extra apps would often fall in the red with under 500 Mb free and

needing to often fiddle with memory ( looking at you Huawie Y550 and ZTE Blitz and Optus Alcatel Pop 5 ).

Is this the Af version? If so i think this may be the best price for this cpu since the start of this pandemic

      Edit:
Looked at the link and it says that it is indeed the AF version, if you can get this i would recommend as this is has the same performance as a r5 2600 its just rebranded to the older r5 1600

      • +4

Well spotted! That makes this a pretty great deal IMO. The Ryzen 3100 goes for about the same price and performs similarly in games, but the 1600AF does much better in productivity and should age better with its extra 2 cores.

        • too late…. "Your PC is now Stoned!"

    • I have the original 1600 and can vouch for this being a great budget cpu, as others have said if it is the AF version i've heard its much better so kind of a no brainer for those on a tight budget.

    • The AF version was a good processor but with what's coming in only weeks, I feel like you really only want to pay $99 for this thing now.

We're likely to see some kind of budet processor in the next 3 months that's got over 40% better single core performance.

      • +1

they will mostly re-badge to some of the E series… cant wait to see the 3600E or 3700E like what they did to the 2000 series.

        • I mean the 1600AF is nice but it annoys me that it launched at $99 US, 9 months ago and it's sitll $99 US

    • +6

Just be aware that if you buy this CPU you will may not be able to pair it with the latest 500-Series motherboards (B550, A520, X570). Only 300 and 400 series will work.

I did some googling and some users report the AF chip working on X570 but do note that it's not guaranteed to work on every board.

Especially newer boards and newer BIOs versions because they often drop support for old CPU's to make space on the BIOS memory chip for new CPU's (ROM size limitation)

      • Can confirm. I'm running a 1700 (older than a 1600af)on a gigabyte x570 ud. Mileage may vary. Open up your bios file to see if the CPU Id is in it

        https://i.redd.it/9lrdncwyw9551.png

        https://github.com/platomav/MCExtractor

      • We also run Athlon 220GE (zen+) on B550M board. We bought a cheap Athlon to keep the PC running until 5000 series are released. I found out about compatibility issues after I bought the processor but it just worked with no problems.

      • Im using the 1600 Af on a x570 Tuf plus mobo, no problems but this should work on x570 motherboards as it supports 2000 and 3000 series chips (unless specified) the 1600 af is basically just the r5 2600. Also the 1600 af didnt appear in the supported cpus for the x570 tuf plus mobo and mine still worked

    • +2

Seagate's drives under 8tb under $280 are mostly SMR if anyone wonders

      • whats SMR and is it bad in comparison to something?

        • +1

SMR is fine for storage not used 24/7. If you plug in transfer data and unplug it's fine. With SMR there is a significant drop in speed with extended read and writes, so they are bad for a NAS.

          • +3

@drinkin-beer: I acctually don't do much writing and 3 years later my Smr drive's speed drops down to 25mb/s which is like a nightmare. CMR would be safer all the time. No matter how you use them they won't have any significant speeddrop in the first 5-10 years

          • @drinkin-beer: thats a shame,
would it say on the case itself if its SMR, if someone goes check.

            on the box

            • +1

@MagicTsukai: Nope it's a bit of sneaky process they employed without without really disclosing it initially. Basically anything under 10tb these days is SMR except a select few. This also includes WD red NAS drives which WD did hoping no one would notice. Needless to say it rubbed people up the wrong way. Seagate ironwolf are still CMR though. If you want a comprehensive list just google "known SMR drives" and you will see a list of all drives that use this manufacturing method.

        • +2

SMR are OK if your mainly archiving data, in a write once, read many scenario. They are considered inferior to PMR/CMR in all other scenarios.

  • Merged from Jabra Elite 75t Titanium Black ANC True Wireless Earphones $247 Shipped @ XtremeOnline Amazon ($234.65 Price Beat @ OW)
    Go to Deal

Long time reader first time poster. Was looking at the Elite 75t Titanium Black for a few days almost bought it yesterday then today the price went down to $247. Tried it at my local OW and it worked!

These are so great, my old Sony wired BT earphones died after several years so I thought I'd step into 2020 and upgrade my experience. The ANC works well and I love the way they sound. They also sit really well in my ears and pass the shake test.

The Gold Beige is also slightly cheaper. Seems like the Elite Active and Wireless Charging variants are still at the regular price though.

Note: the Elite is labelled as Classic and the Elite Active is labelled as Sports.
Also I'm unsure how Amazon deals work, couldn't find an end date on the price drop so if anybody knows please let me know!

    • Note the $247 on Amazon is from a Third Party Seller (XtremeOnline).

Direct from Amazon AU is $256.96.

      • Hi Richard,
Thanks for clarifying. Was this post not allowed because they only have low stock? I thought my post was clear that I went to Officeworks to price beat. And there's plenty of stock at OW.

        • The Amazon deal you linked "Only 3 left in stock", which was why it was moved to the low quantity forum post.

        • Price match is not a deal and all low stock post gets moved to this forum.

    • Nice, got one for $30 during the Amazon Prime sales and am very happy with it as a shower speaker.

      • i have my logitech MX100 as shower speaker, but they dont have next song buttom. does this one has ?

        • Yes it does. Press the play button to pause, double press for next, triple press for previous.

      • +2

With this super fast pcie 3 hard drive I'm going to extend the life significantly of an older laptop. The processor is middling and the ram is only 8G put with such fast disk for virtual memory I think it will be overall very fast and get more years from this laptop.

      • +GST.

      • This Samsung drive has faster read/write speeds than the WD Black

        • Plus WD is known for their drive shenanigans attempting to mislead customers to under deliver on what was expected (though more in HDDs than SSDs) while Samsung drives are known for reliability. It's at the point where I don't trust WD because their general attitude is screw the customer.

I can't find any specs or images online. Is this like an Officeworks only model?

    • Good price but monitor itself isn't that great, especially with the Xiaomi ones out nowv(plus if you're spending $$$ to run 144hz for gaming, might as well upgrade to an ultrawide or higher resolution).

If you can't spend more on a monitor, it's great, otherwise save a bit and get something a little nicer!

    • Shows available at north Ryde nsw

      • +1

        Where sorry?

        • Never mind already oos

    • I like this monitor. I upgraded from a 60hz 24inch and it's definitely a jump up. I love scrolling up and down and pushing games to 144fps.
At this price I would recommend it.

    • +7

if you are like me, looking for a reason NOT to buy it - its 27 inch at 1080. I'm out!

after i show op's photo, they do price match

      • What time did you go? Were you the guy I saw there just before 8pm?

    • +2

Richmond, VIC wouldn’t budge from $298 - save your time and don’t go there.

      • Thank you, I was going to go tomorrow. They wouldn't pick up the phone.

    • +1

Went to Chadstone and the staff called their tech manager who had left for the day to ask, and was told no. It’s still at $298. Save yourself the trip!

    • +1

I’d consider this deal a store specific one that has now run out of stock. Probably worth expiring.

    • +5

This deal was useless. I went to both Chadstone and Richmond and both had prices that were not even discounted. To top it off I backed into a car on the way out. This has basically wasted 1 and a half hours of my life and taken my money.

      • +10

I had to laugh but feel for you. I've always thought about how bad it would be getting a speeding fine or having an accident on the way to a bargain. All the best.

    • -1

LOL. what a weird combo? a big 27inch at only1920 x 1080. I wouldn't bother paying even $78 for it. Get at least 1440 or 4k. Come on.

      • Try to play CS on it. Perfect resolution.

      • Not sure why people negged you; anything this size has no business being 1080p.

      • It's workable if you don't sit too close to the screen. Push it back about a foot or so.

      • Not terrible for gaming but rather chunky pixels for desktop work.

    • Just returned this monitor after 6 months for flickering and loose ports last week! $299 btw.

For 179, might be worth it, just be aware of the issues.

    • What's a gaming monitor vs a monitor?

      • gaming monitor is for game,
monitor is for everything including game. lol

      • Has speakers perhaps?

Faster refresh rate and response time so fast moving images aren’t blurry. Not things you need to worry about on a work monitor.

            • @FrugallyMinded: You'd prob have to return first, then re-purchase for a price match. Bit of a PITA, but if you really want it…

    • Yep agree, junk i had mine for a day then returned it .

    • It's one of the worst ergonomic mouse I own. Alps the rubber surface will become sticky after a few years.

    • Those times when clearance is expensive than regular price.

    • Returned mine, it was incompatible with my Surface. Bluetooth would disconnect whenever I unplugged the Surface from its power supply and wouldn't reconnect easily. It was a headache until I just decided to go back to my Logitech one.

This seems like a good deal on a high end CPU for the niche of computing requiring a lot of threads and not easily GPU processed. I am looking at it vs the Ryzen 5950x, which is around $200 more when it comes available. Its looks like it is around $1600 elsewhere.

The reviews state you will receive a 10920x

    • It's not only the cpu cost. Motherboards for this are super expensive too, compared to a reasonable x570/b550 being around the $300 mark

    • This CPU is useless for its intended purpose compared to even the 3000 series. See the reviews.

    • There is only 1 left in stock and its a dead platform. Motherboard are very expensive, and it gets blown away by AMD Threadripper.

    • Even the 5950x seems to be 20% quicker according to this.

It's a great deal, but is there any stock anywhere?

It's more a statement of "look what I got" than a deal if there is no link to stock or indication of stock levels anywhere.

4 in stock doesn't meet the minimum 10 in stock required. Shouldn't this be in the low stock deals?

      • +2

Not sure why you got downvoted, literally part of the guidelines to not post deals with insufficient quantities.

      • Amazon have stock qty of nearly 2 most times and deals get upvoted. If we kept to the rules all the time, 8 in 10 would be cancelled.

        • Ozshowoff

        • I don't understand your comment.
What does "stock qty of nearly 2 most times" mean?
Does quantity of "nearly 2" mean stock of 1?
Almost all Amazon deals have way more than 2 items in stock when posted.
The Amazon website starts showing a warning when stock levels are low, with a message similar to "X left in Stock"

          • @oz-dave: Really?
Ive seen deals posted with Amazon sales and in the space of about 2 minutes its sold.

No way do most of those deals have more then 10 available…

            • @iNeed2Pee: ebay deals manage to sell many hundreds in seconds ;-)

I haven't seen many Amazon deals (certainly not 8 of 10) that sell out in minutes.

      • Surprising since it's Norflandz.

      • If there is 4 for sale in one shop, and the item is removed from the Target website, doesn't that mean it belongs in the "Insufficient Quantity Deals" section?

      • You need to spread them out a bit more mate.

    • A great competitive technical game but back when I had it, could barely get an online game.

    • Damn i was just there to pick up my game and watch and missed this… called and it's all reserved.

    • I'm amazed that nintendo games hold their value so much more than any other systems. $20 for this is super cheap and i'd grab it in a second if i could. But a game like god of war was around $12 on amazon a week or so ago. And that's one of the games of the generation for sure. And probalby my fav game in the last 5 years or so. I love my switch but damn it's hard to get a decent collection of games with how much they cost!

  • Mario tennis for switch all gone alas. But they had marked down splatoon 2 for switch to $20. So grabbed that instead. Wanted that more than Mario tennis anyway. So won out in the end.

Was surprised to see this so cheap at my local Officeworks. RRP is $160 and usually sells between $70-120
    https://www.kensington.com/en-au/p/products/connectivity/vid…

The Officeworks website had it on clearance for $32 and said it's not in stock in any of the stores in my area. I just checked out my nearest store and was surprised that the price was further discounted to $16.66 only.

Why is USB c to hdmi so easy/cheap but USB A not?

They are totally different. The USB-C carries video signals from the built-in video chip, if the chipset supports that.

But this device is a separate "video card" that connects via USB instead of a PCIe bus. So don't expect to do 3D games on it!

        • Interesting. Thanks!

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I checked, and what I said is not quite true for this gadget. It uses DisplayLink technology.

So stiull, the USB-C dongles are simple, while this is far more complex.

            for details:

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayLink

It sounds a bit like Steamlink???

            • @bargaino: So what I understand is it connects to computer via USB so the adapter is using its own graphics.
(If you want to use your nvidia graphics you it would need to connect to the graphics card port VGA / DVI)

So it is for video / normal computer work only.

              • @thebadmachine: I'm not quite following you.

The USB-C port is capable of carrying a DisplayPort data stream.

                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB-C#Video_output

                compare that to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayLink

                • @bargaino: Sorry I am talking about the product in the deal.
It connects via USB 3.0 (USB-A).

So adapters graphics has to be powered by the adapters internal (cheap) graphics.

I know you can connect some monitors / displays with USB-C on newer computers, maybe with this method it uses the computer’s nvidia graphics (expensive graphics card).

                  • +1

@thebadmachine: This unit is acting like an external graphic card which connects to USB 3 port from your PC or Notebook to an external monitor.

You can use it to connect 2nd and 3rd monitors accounting to the website.

                    https://www.kensington.com/en-au/p/products/connectivity/vid…

                    • @YasimKudomi: Ok thanks for confirming.
So it is for very particular use (maybe your laptop is missing monitor output, or you need to add additional monitor to computer etc).

                      • @thebadmachine: Or maybe you want to plugin your camera or old GoPro to your notebook and use it as a webcam :)

You will need to know exactly what model of the camera and cable you need to make it work.

                        • @YasimKudomi: NO that will not work. It is USB to HDMI. This means that USB is on the input side (connected to your PC/Mac) and HDMI is on the output side (connected to the monitor). If you plug a GoPro which has HDMI Output into this, it won't work because it will be connected to the output of the adaptor.

                      • @thebadmachine: Or to connect a mac to hdmi monitor?

                        • +1

@dealmaker: I wouldn’t bother trying it on a Mac if it uses DisplayLink. Apple managed to massacre the way the technology works with the High Sierra update of OS X. DisplayLink did a damn fine job of fixing it (eventually - it took them months & months) but it’s still not as good as it used to be. At this price I suppose it’s worth trying, but don’t be surprised if you end up dicking around a lot to get it working properly.

                  • +2

@thebadmachine: You can sort of still use the NVIDIA graphics with this card, but after being rendered by the GPU, the displaylink driver has to encode that rendered graphics so it can be transported over USB data speed and then the DisplayLink chip decides it to HDMI.

So no you don’t want to use this for games, but not quite for the reasons given. Basically anything with a lot of movement (video or games) will struggle even if it is simple graphics that a low end graphics card could handle. If you’re expectations are low you might be ok, but you probably have better options anyway.

This is particularly useful for multi-monitor setups doing office work where you don’t have enough outputs from your laptop for the monitors you want.

                    • @mps41: Ok thanks.

                      • +1

@thebadmachine: you can still play games with DisplayLink connected devices and it will read your discrete graphics cards just fine.

However, VRR (Freesync/GSync) will not work…

        • +2

Be careful though, not all USB-C ports support Display Port alt modes.

My wife’s ASUS has such a port, something I learned after we bought it.

        • You were close enough, display link is essentially a low power discreet external GPU over usb3.0. I use a Toshiba dynadock at work and home to do 2x24in 1080p @75hz hosted by a surface pro 4 and a 2015 MacBook Pro via a ugreen usb3.0 switching hub, and 27in 1440p+24in 1080p @ 75hz hosted by a msi ge602pe.

For office and developer productivity they work great, for 1080p+ video and 2d gaming it gets choppy, and anything above that is impossible.

The USB C docks that have HDMI out etc are essentially grabbing a combined usb3.1 and display port data stream over USBC and just splitting it out. They don't work on machines with type C that don't do thunderbolt or display port over USBC, and they're cheap because they do stuff all - just map the oncoming signals to the correct ports.

      • +3

It's actually not that easy for USB-C (in the sense it is also just as messy). The main issue isn't so much the port type, but the actual bandwidth it supports.

A lot of cheap USB-C HDMI dongles only supports 4K/30Hz as well. 4K/60Hz ones are more expensive as it needs to implement USB 3.1 gen 2 alt mode properly. This issue further complicates once you add HDR in there. The reality is that very small number of USB-C to HDMI supports 4K/60Hz with HDR. Some supports 4K/60Hz. Cheap one supports 4K/30Hz. USB-C ones are cheaper because there is more demand hence more makers make them.

        • Further convolutedness is support for 4:4:4 for 4K@60Hz and higher refresh rates.

    • Can usb2 really handle 4k video?

      • +1

I only tried HD. I highlighted that I am using a hub from usb-c which has a port marked USB 2.0 and I have now edited the description to also add I am only outputting QUD/FHD out of it. Also I wonder that the hub may have labelled port as 2.0 but might be 3.0 :/

    • +6

Maximum 4K 30Hz might not suit everyone

      • never knew cable were restricted in HZ

        • +2

Didn't neg you. It is the bandwidth. This is only for USB 3.0. The bandwidth is limited. 4K 60Hz requires more data bandwidth.

          • @netsurfer: This is encoded by the computer to go over USB, so the data required depends on how much the screen is changing. 4K 60Hz could be fine (if the HDMI output supported it) as long as you are just doing office work. Full screen video or games just aren’t going to work though.

          • @netsurfer: Whole point of DisplayLink was to reduce bandwidth using compression, unlike over direct or via Alt Mode connection. Originally, DisplayLink was lossy compression because USB 2.0 was too slow, later they added lossless, like DisplayPort’s DSC. The problem with DisplayLink is additional CPU utilisation to do compression and encoding by virtual video adaptor driver on the computer (whilst decompression and decoding is done by hardware in physical adaptor). It’s deprecated technology, unless one needs lots of displays at expense of CPU.

      • If using FHD, I am able to get 100Hz !!

          • +1

@Mitch889: From my previous experience with similar devices. It is not USB-C so it has to do its own conversion which means you cant expect too much from it.

USB C adapters are much cheaper like in your post. But like others have said, this post is for USB 3.0 to HDMI, and is more a hub than an adapter and usually much more expensive. I paid $150 for this kind of hub as my laptop does not have USB C and I wanted to connect several monitors to it

        • -3

Sure, but still plenty of options:

          https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0X4ECV

          • @mrau: Why do you keep linking to cheap USB C adapters? They are not the same as what is in this post

            • -1

@Riker88: Mate, they're all cheaply made. The one you've shown can't be bought by many, right? Not sure why would you think the one you posted is any better than "cheap" ones that offer twice the refresh rate.

@mrau: You still havent realised that USB 3.0 to HDMI is completely different to USB C to HDMI. If your laptop has USB C, yes, you can use the kind of cables you have linked to. But if you only have USB 3.0 ports, you need the kind of hub listed in this post (which usually cost a lot more)

@mrau: USB-A to HDMI is quite a different device to USB-C to HDMI

The post is about essentially an external graphics card.

C to hdmi is not the same thing. Some devices can output video through the type C port. They need the adapter that you linked to.

just to rephrase - this adapter is like a usb video card. those cables are just simple cables that work if 1) its obvious usbc and 2) your chipset can actually transmit the signal from your existing inbuilt video card to this one

You can't compare a cable to this device which is virtually an external vga card.
