  • Ok, doing my bit, I was at Aldi in Mt Ommaney in Brisbane last weekend. They had about 3 3.3kw Stirling air con for $599. Not sure how many now. I had it installed on Wednesday, and it is more powerful than my 3.5kw Fujitsu aircon. Overall impression of the air con is positive. Just be aware that the indicator light is on all the time on the unit, may annoy some people sleeping if installed in the bedroom.

  • Merged from $3.50 Decor Tote Insulated Lunch Bag @ Woolworths Chester Hill (NSW)

Found at Woolies Chester Hill clearance section. Not sure if nation wide. Original price $15 down to $3.50. 3 left in stock at time of purchase.

    • +2

Was there a Loch Ness monster hiding behind the clearance section?

Edit: Allow me to clarify. The last time I was at the Chester Hill Woolworths clearance section, there's this cute little girl scout and she asked me if I wanted to buy some cookies. I told her I'll buy some graham crunch and asked how much that would be. She looked at me and she said "…Uh I need about tree-fitty." Well, it was about that time that I noticed that girl scout was about eight stories tall and was a crustacean from the Paleolithic era. I said, "Dammit monster! Get out of my Woolworths! I ain't giving you no tree-fitty!" It said, "How about just two-fitty?" I said, "Oh, now it's only two-fitty!! What?! Is there a sale on Loch Ness munchies or something?!" Lawd I was angry.

    • +1

      What's the engine like. Good?
      How fast does it go?

    • TIL people spend 15K on bikes lol.

    • +1

      At $8K I still have to pedal…!?!

      • +7

Nope, the pedals are extra. so for $8k all you can do is roll down a hill!

    • +4

Inb4 i had cars costing way less than this.

      • My first car cost $500. Even adjusting for inflation I could have bought about 7 of those s*it boxes for 1 of these bikes. Or maybe 1 decent car. Or 3 bikes for over $2k each (which will get you a damn good bike).

        • $2K wont get you a good roadbike. It might get you last year's runout model or an entry level but you would be looking at $3500 + for a reasonable enthusiast level bike. That bike wont have things like Di2 gears or carbon wheels like this bike does. Good wheels cost upwards of $2500 on their own.

        • +1

@2ndeffort: I guess a good roadbike would differ from a new rider, enthusiast or racer. A lot of times last year (2017) models are very similar to the 2018 except for livery. You could get a new 2017 Giant TCR Advanced Pro 2 (with full 105 gruppo) for $2k or a little less. Not too bad for someone new who wants a carbon frame.

        • +1

          @2ndeffort:

Do you need any of those things for an entry level road bike? What did people do before carbon fibre? Refuse to ride?

        • @syousef: simply pointing out that $2K doesnt get you a damn good road bike. Before Carbon Fibrtre people rode aluminium or steel bikes, maybe Titanium if you could afford it. You can still buy those bikes today if you like them but Carbon Fibre is better. There arent any of the big Grand Tour pro teams that ride anything other than carbon fibre bikes anymore. Sometime obsolete stuff has a historical charm or aesthetic pleasing to traditionalists but, like the horse and cart those wanting performance normally go for the latest up to date stuff.

        • +1

          @2ndeffort:

I doubt many Ozbargainers are serious athletes. I'd bet there are some weekend warriors and fitness freaks though. Or blokes that just want to ride with the family without their bike falling apart. I'm sure they'd be fine on aluminium or steel. Even $2K would be a stretch for many.

        • @syousef: I'm an overweight 51 year old MAMIL! Agree $2K is a stretch for most. There are loads of MAMILs on bikes at least as expensive as this one. I know at least 15 or more retired guys that have spent part of their super to buy expensive bikes. Horses for courses. I am sure there are retired guys that bought themselves an old car or an overseas holiday or a vintage motorbike. Expensive bike no different. Just like hero cars, bike companies make hero bikes. The original bike in this post is one of those. In the same way a person just looking for cheap transport might get a KIA and laugh at expensive cars, somebody that loves driving might find it totally understandable to spend $80K on a Ford Mustang etc. This bike is like that. The person wanting to ride with their kids doesnt need this bike, overkill. The person riding 200 km a week and chasing Strava KOMs would love this bike.

        • @2ndeffort:

Sometime obsolete stuff has a historical charm or aesthetic pleasing to traditionalists but, like the horse and cart those wanting performance normally go for the latest up to date stuff.

Like cameras, there's the danger of falling for gear acquisition syndrome. Last year's runout model doesn't necessarily perform worse than the current model that costs maybe $1.5k more - the groupset would stay the same for years, the frameset geometry would be the same, and apart from new stickers there may be virtually no change between model years that actually results in a reliably measurable performance increase.

Sometimes people just want the latest up to date stuff even though it doesn't really help them. That's fine, as long as they're aware of that.

For weight weenies, the money might be better spent on healthier food which could result in a 1kg weight reduction over the course of six months - that could be a greater weight reduction than would be possible by spending the same amount on parts, with the benefit of being healthier. But where's the fun in that? heh heh.

      • Can't compare used vehicles to new vehicles.

    • Why? Just, why?

      • +2

For the same reasons people buy waterski boats, holiday houses, jetskis, sports cars etc etc etc. If you love cycling and love bikes this is a pretty good deal. I have a similar bike worth a similar value (Trek Madone 9 with Di2 and Reynolds Asssault wheelset). I get it that people who last rode a bike when they were at school will find this expensive but I see people on vintage motorbikes and think 'why?', I see people spending tens of thousands on old Holdens and think 'why?', I see people spending a fortune to renovate a holiday house they spend 3 weeks a year at and think 'why?', I see people spending thousands on the latest fishing rods, golf clubs, snowboards etc etc etc. A good bike is the same thing for those of us into cycling. If you know what you are looking at you will realise a bike like this is literally a ferrari compared to a Reid or some other bog standard bike. The Di2 groupset alone is literally state of the art pro level gearing. Electronic gears are unbelievable for those of us that know the difference.

        • +1

So are these better than the ones in Kmart?

        • +1

.. recently upgraded from mechanical to Di2 and I do love it. Works a treat on climbs

        • @Shuey: Yep, my newest bike was my 1st with Di2, I'm never going back. Perfect shifts every time, shifting under full load on a steep climb and I never miss a gear. Nothing wrong with cable gears but Di2 is noticeably better

  • Merged from [Instore] GoPro Battery Bacpac $10 @ Officeworks
    Go to Deal

This GoPro Battery Bacpac will extend the life of your battery, making it perfect for all day events and time lapse shots. The small pack attaches to the back of your GoPro and is lightweight so you will hardly notice that it is there.

    • +3

Where is there stock for this?

      • Just tried 5 stores across all of NSW, all out of stock.

    • -10

This GoPro Battery Bacpac will extend the life of your battery

If you're constantly charging it, it will probably reduce the life of your battery.

      • +1

        Not really

        • -6

          Yes really…

The performance of rechargeable batteries decreases as you increase the charging cycles.

          • +1

@jv: So what's the alternative? Wait for the GoPro to die and then don't use it for a while? Don't wanna increase them cycles

          • -5

            @jv: @Benjamin7711:

            So what's the alternative?

Reduce the amount of times you charge the battery

      • +5

        From the manual:
When connected and powered on, the Battery BacPac serves as an initial
source of power. Once the Battery BacPac is depleted, your GoPro automatically
switches over to draw from the battery inside the camera.

        • @urbancartel:

You bought yours for 305.99USD and the deal I linked you is 399USD? I bought mine with the xbox controller and have never used it, the magic is in the touch controllers.

        • @Hayness:

          Nah man it was 249 + 56 shipping (305) yours is 399 + 70 shipping (469)

    Go to Deal

It's last year's model and used floor stock, but if you're in Sydney and looking for a TV then under $4000 for 65" OLED could be worth a look.

    • A bargain requires a minimum quantity of 10 units. Is this just 1 unit?

      • You would think so.
I wonder if you can check runtime hours?

        • Yeah one thinks about OLED burn in… and a display unit… brain says no.

    • Price is a bit harsh for a demo model. I picked up a new one from appliance central on an eBay sale for about that price but had to return it due to a cracked screen.

  • This isn't techically insufficient, but it's on Pre-Order everywhere so don't think it's worth posting:

Corsair 400GB Neutron NX500 Add in Card NVMe PCIe Gen3. 3x4SSD @ Umart seems insanely cheap. It's on their website for $155, everywhere else is ~$479 so a pretty significant drop. Seems pretty damn cheap for that much memory in an SSD!

  • Merged from Flight Women’s Vintage 700C Bike for $30 @ Rebel Sport Castle Hill (NSW)
    Go to Deal

Just went to Rebel store @ 6 VICTORIA Ave, Castle Hill (NSW) store to buy 2 bikes for my kids.

Noticed they had at least 4 boxes of these for $30 each with RRP$199. Unsure of color, best to give them a call or check other stores. They had a few other bikes on special, sorry posting on my mobile.

Still listed on their website for $199, full specs here:

    https://www.rebelsport.com.au/sports/cycling/bikes/flight-wo…

    • I bought mine 50% off the other week, I haven't owned a bike since I was a kid, but for someone wanting to get back into it, I'm happy enough with the quality. Their Pedal Nation helmets were 50% off too, so I picked up a nice one for $40.

The guys at Rebel said that according to the bike mechanics, the Vintage are difficult to assemble. Mine was a pre-made floor model so I am actually glad after hearing that.

It's Tetris and Puyo Puyo. Depends how you feel about those games.

      • +3

Yes, it's a great Tetris title and great as a multiplayer Tetris. You can disregard the rest. $19 is a steal.

        • But Puyo Puyo (most well known as Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine) craps all over Tetris.

believe it or not the 1-2 switch sold around to 2mil. Im waiting for it to ever drop down to $20 and if not… oh well

        • Me to, $20 at least before I buy that.

    • +2

Great game, totally worth it at $20

      • +3

Imposter! A real OzBargainer wouldn't pay $20 when they can get it for $19!

    • sold out in all the SA stores from the looks

      • Norlunga, marion sold out. Know of any other stores?

    • Quality game if you can get your hands on it

    • +3

If you miss out in store, it's currently $29.99 in the eShop 'Summer Sale' https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/393361

Couple with 15% off eShop gift cards at Woolies tomorrow https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/393962 and you get relatively close to this price

      • +5

Think its also a game where you'd always want it on hand for quick short games instead of swapping carts all the time.

        • +3

Makes sense. Might get off eshop instead. Problem is I do like physical copies.

    • +1

PS4 version is $19 from EB Games as well.

    • How's the online play for this? Enough active players?

      • +1

There are active players and I've given up playing online as they finish me in seconds.

        • Learn to drop advanced techniques like combos, T-spins and perfect clears (for Tetris), and chains for Puyo Puyo

    • Checked two of my local BigWs (Epping and Craigieburn), neither had it in stock.

      Oh well.

    • Went to get Sonic Mania Plus on the weekend, didn't notice other Switch games or I would have picked this up too.

    • Any one with any luck?

    • +1

Is the puyo puyo multiplayer as well? I imagine the japanese would be pretty dominant

      • -1

Online is unplayable. They dominate. Seconds.

        • +3

That doesn’t make it unplayable, it just means they’re very good. As with any game, if you practice you can compete

      • +2

I tried tetris online. Noone locally, so expanded it to global. Big mistake. The first 30 seconds I thought I was winning! Boy oh. Boy was I wrong. Like a light switch, they flicked to unleashing tetris upon tetris on me, a hailstorm of pieces so deadly I was dead in a few moves. I was so amazed i had to watch the replay.

At 25 percent, I could make out the moves, but I was still gobsmacked. Total genius.

    • +6

To anyone in NSW reading, the staff member did a stock scan for 100km from top ryde and found one in Katoomba. Nowhere else

      • Thanks. Wish it is a little closer.

    • Reckon EB would price match?

      • Worth a try.
        No stock. Clearance sign. Doubtful

      • Hahaha

    • +1

Great game and worth the price at $20 on Switch. It's well suited to the Switch since you can take the controllers out and play with the person next to you.

    • +1

Could anyone upload a photo of a receipt in VIC? I want to try and price match it at eb games

    • It's 20$ usd on PC it you want to plug in your controllers and play it on that. :o

      • theres also tetrisfriends online for free and puyopuyo bound to be free

    • +1

Called about 10 sores in Eastern suburbs VIC and no stock anywhere

    • Took the last one from Runaway Bay store today.

      • Damn it! I think that was the last one on the Gold Coast. Other stores were sold out yesterday.

It'd be nice to know the real saving..

        lol no

      • -2

has them for $4999, so the real saving is 60%

        Pushy's normal price is $2600.

        • …crap it is.

          was: $3,599.00 RRP
then reduced to: $2,611.93 (not normal pushys 'normal price')
          now: $1999

pretty significant discount id say for such a well speced bike & regarded brand

          • -3

            @franco cozzo:

$2,611.93 (not normal pushys 'normal price')

Same price for about 5 months constitutes normal price…

    • Only the large frame size is available.

    • Yes, only the Large, and only 1 of those remaining.
(There was only 1 remaining Sat night when I saw the email)
      Not even full DA groupset

    • Lmao @ 50-34 and 105 cassette. What tripe.

      • +1 this thing is a POS compared to a DuraAce specced bike from any major brand. Anyone considering buying this needs to very carefully compare specs of every component. DYOR.

      • Can you explain? I understand that the 105 cassette doesn't do justice to the dura-ace, but what's wrong with a 50-34 chain? I've just started cycling

        • Nothing intrinsically wrong with 50-34. It is well suited especially in climbing situations.

Even world-tour pros will run 50-34 (and 32 sprockets at the back) to tackle big climbs

      • I agree it's a mixed bag with the components, but this is not a bike aimed at the pro cyclists. Represents good value for a mid spec bike, components can be upgraded as required. It's much easier to replace a cassette than swap out derailleurs.

    • at least they could throw in the pedals lol

      • They threw them, that's why they are not there.

    • Dunno why mods think quantity of 1 remaining is sufficient quantity?

Not sure who this appeals to, don't think its Ozbargain peeps.
I'd disagree it's mid-spec, brakes are FSA, may not be any good (like speccing Tektro brakes?), probably cheap in-house branded wheels (Alex rims?), cheap tyres, probably old DA 9000, not 9100.

"This projector supports a full HD resolution of 1920 x 720"

      I thought 1920 x 1080p was full HD…

      • Yeah me too. Not sure what's going on there..?

      • +1

I’m pretty sure that it isn’t the output resolution either. It is far too blurry to be considered a real 1920x720 if trying to compare

      • +3

You’re somehow confusing Full HD with full HD.

      • You misunderstand, it's FULL 720p! ;)

    • 1920x720p.. Meh

      • +1

Avoiding lighting any candles nearby when watching anything. :)

    • +3

      HDHDHD… Full HD… 720p is just HD.

    • Not avaliable from mosty Sydney stores.

    • +2

Yeah you're not gonna find a tiny phone sized pocket projector with a higher resolution than this one. Yes, this actually outputs to 1920x720 as opposed to 1080, just means uses half as many horizontal lines compared to a 1080p. Think of it kind of like 1080i of old.

Only people who should be buying something like this are people who travels a lot and wants a projector in their hotel room every night. Otherwise as someone else pointed out, 40 lumen is not practical.

    • The Tempur mattresses are terrific, and well worth the money, (though they retail at half the price in the US).
There are many brands of memory foam mattresses on the market here now, but none come close to the Tempur for comfort, especially if you / your partner are heavyweights.

The bases however are nothing special, all of them are pretty much the same with different legs/upholstery. They are basically an MDF board with padded upholstery covering it. The standard boxspring or timber slat beds are not suitable for a memory foam mattress and can void the warranty FWIW. The only standout bases from Tempur are the split, motorised ones with inbuilt massaging (which is really just vibration not a proper massage effect).
There are many better options than the Tempur base, you will find better base options at smaller bed stores that specialise in ergonomic/back support beds, at much better prices than this.

    • For a base? Man, you don't sleep on the base…

I just found Furball Optimum for cats on Amazon

    There's also Kangaroo available

6x800g bags for $20 delivered (if you have prime). These usually sell (when not on sale) at Woolies for about $10 a bag. Even on sale right now @ $6.80 a bag it still works out to be half price.

Only 2 furballs left in stock though.

Does not look like there are a minimum of 10 in stock to qualify as a deal. Can you please confirm there are sufficient quantities of the products?

          • @alvian: I can confirm that there’s 2-3 on display. I don’t ’t think they will display 10 given the massive size of the boxes for these gaming headsets.

Happy for this post to be deleted by mods if this isn’t a deal.

FYI for the ones being sold at big W and target , there was a recall last year

      https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/funtastic-limited-po…

Check batch code before you buy

      • +1

They are different products. The recalled one is the "ReWirable USB", the posted one is the "Extended USB". The recall was due to the fuse holder which is part of the ReWirable (likely due to UK requirements) and not part of the Extended.

        • I think they are not finished with the recall!! I had one BLOW UP last month. Took out the house fuse and you could smell smoke and see burn marks. Will be taking it back to see if they can report it for recall, yes looks like this model they have.

          • +1

@paulojr: The recall was for the product having a fuse holder in it (presumably because the UK requires a fuse in every device because of the way their houses are wired). It's an additional safety feature that's apparently not permitted under Australian standards, so very unlikely to be related to your issue.

      • The recall seems to be limited to the Powercube Rewirable:
        * https://www.allocacocshop.com/products/powercube-rewirable
        And not this model:
        * https://www.allocacocshop.com/collections/power/products/pow…

The issue identified with the recall is:

"The adaptor contains a fuse holder which is not permitted under standard AS/NZS 3105."

There is no fuse holder on the powercube extended model AFAIK.

        • -1

There also been reports from someone here of USB port dying. Hasn't happened to me yet though

          • @easternculture: Neither me. Super useful device though. A steal if you can get it for $5.

          • @easternculture: I had this issue with 2x of this product only when using both USB ports simulateously, burnt plastic smell n only one working port was the result.

I've since gambled and purchased another 2x (as they are so handly) and have had no issues at all. These were purchased from a different retailer than the first problematic 2x.

            • @devz: I would be interested which retailer you got the bad ones from. I saw a discount store sell them for about $15 for a 1.5m + USB version. I was tempted at the time but didn't buy them.

I wonder if they may be imitation powercubes.

      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/allocacoc-powercube-5-outlets-b…

      • I actually bought a couple of these, but being fully aware they didn't have USB. Happy with $10 each. $5 is a genuine bargain!

If I can grab these ones with USB from Target, I would…

    • Sweet, will check my local target but not expecting there to be any stock…

    • I grabbed a few of these when Dick Smith went under for around the same price. They are great. I've mounted them to the back of bedside tables, under a side table in the theater room and under my computer desk.

They are super handy to have around.

      • May I ask, what did you use to mount them?

        • They come with a mounting bracket, that locks into one of the sides (kind of a push turn system). I have one mounted to the underside of my desk, really good

        • You lose access to one port power port though if you mount it though.

          • @cwongtech: how so though? Doesnt it have a flat side though?

            • +2

@D6C1: It's a cube. It has many flat sides. You put one side flat against the surface you want to mount it, you can't use that power point.

            • +2

@D6C1: 6 sides to the cube
1 side has 2 USB ports
1 side has the power cable running to the wall plug
              4 sides with power sockets.

The bracket clips onto one of those 4 sides.

      • +2

I wouldn't except it to be cheap at uncle Harvey's shop.

      • +1

Would this not be accepted at other JB stores based on the agreed-upon price?

        • +1

wouldnt that just mean you haggled the price?
I personally wouldnt advertise a haggled down price on here because it's not advertised on their platform and if someone walks into a store saying my mate bought this TV for $XXXX amount, I want to buy it for that price aswell, it'd vary heavily depending on the store and who you talk to

        • Not usually.. depends if the managers are desperate to take the hit on gp for the store.

        • +2

Like solidussnake said, it would depend on the individual stores and staff members. It could have been a display model or a repack/return. This does not appear to be the case based on the notes, but circumstances may exist.

    • +1

Screw LG though, I will never forget a bloke telling me years ago on a smoke break at work about how just about all his LG gear started carking it not long after warranties ran out.

            • @OneMoreTune: I’ve had all LG panels and have never had an issue my current lg is going on 4 years and I still have an lg tv that’s been running for 8years

            • @OneMoreTune: I had that with my Samsung gear. Luckily they were very good to me with repairing for free given it was juuuusst outside warranty. But it does put me off Samsung in general.

          • @Suspect420: Have to disagree on Sony's. Probably the worst example of running Android on TV and they look/feel cheeply made.

Enjoy mate. That was the whole point me uploading invoice. Some people are complaining about quantity or not on jb website. Yes i went to 5 stores in perth for to get to this price.

Mods can do whatever with this post delete or move. But iam happy i helped someone get best price. Like so many other on ozbargain have helped me in the past.

        Cheers.

        • Good man. Impressed you went store to store to get a bargain.

There was a bit of a back and forth with the manager, asked if it was floor stock etc.
Eventually came back with the thumbs up!

Now I'm just wondering if this or the KD65A8F with the screen speaker would have been better, but quite sure I'll be happy when it's delivered tomorrow!

          • +1

@shankur: This is the top of the range from last year.this tv won most of the av awards in uk last year.

You getting a soundbar included in deal "technically" and no other brand have better color accuracy then panasonic.

This has absolute black filter like 2018 models and a better remote then 2018 models or sony.

Sony's tonemaping isn't aas good as this for hdr.

This has 2 tuner (for someone that's +1)
I bought for my home theater later when i get projector or oled 77"( if i found deal like this)I'll move this to living and won't need a soundbar.
And most i haven't fount a8f for around 3000 marks.

If you care about true color then this. Otherwise any other oled.

Makesure you manually download and update a patch for 24fps content which this tv had problem with when came out.

            • @Manojkbanga: Where is this patch you talk about, I’ve got the the fz950 but haven’t noticed any 24p problem

            • @Manojkbanga: It's getting delivered today. Updating as simple as connecting to wifi and hitting update?

              • @shankur: Those updates aareaare called OTA. This is the only one you have to do manually. Here are instructions to follow.
                http://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/tv/dow…

                • @Manojkbanga: Cheers, strange this one is via USB. I am set up and rocking :)

                  • @shankur: Make sure you watch planet earth 2 and blue planet. As a must for any new oled owner. Enjoy mate. Mine being delivered Wednesday. Can't wait

                    • @Manojkbanga: I tired but audio isn't working on them for me? Won't play 5.1 DTS, so it's reverting to dual mono which is a foreign language in each case. Any idea how I fix that? Short of extracting the audio tracks and downsampling.

      • Which shop mate?
        Looking for the same model

        Cheers

    • +2

      Thought technics were turntables?

    • Common 75” oled at friendly price!

    • My ST60 appears to be exhibiting a lot more burn-in these days… I have a feeling it could be on its last legs. This could be a good replacement!

      • That's a great tv.

    • This and the new Sony A9F are the only OLED models to consider buying. The rest have many issues, especially with ABL and dim brightness.

      • This makes me feel better I didn't get the A8F.

      • -1

        C8 doesn't have those issues.

    • So, is it even worth trying to negotiate with my local JBs?

      • With a order number my local JB matched the price.

        • Order number? The OPs order number?

          • +1

@gasman70: Yep, they can look it up in the system, see it wasn't floor stock etc.

    • I went to the same store in Belmont who said there were only 2 left and matched it. When I pointed out the receipt which I had printed out from here was from the same store he asked to keep it to show the original salesperson that they were ozbargain famous.

      Cheers to OP.

      • More like he is going to get in trouble for destroying their GM.

        • +1

No hope he won't. He's a nice man. And helped most of us.

    • Good old Belmont. Good to see my local store is ozbargain famous.

    • Most likely they are all sold. As they only had 4 or 5 yesterday new in box but almost every store has one on display

    • Not the Best Oled TV if you want to Game = input lag

      • Wrong, all oled tvs currently have the same 22ms input lag which is very low.

    • Bought the 55 inch pana oled fz950 for $1,695 plus $55 delivery. They price matched Costco.

  • Merged from [VIC] Ozito Electric Mower & Line Trimmer Kit $49 (Was $99) @ Bunnings Fountain Gate
    Go to Deal

This deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/413548 half price at Fountain Gate VIC

One left after I grabbed one, not sure if it’s nationwide?

I can’t decide if I can be bothered to drag a cable around me or not. Good value for $49 though.

Link to original product - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-electric-lawn-mower-and-li…

    • god thats cheap,

    • Cable is a pita… Used mine 5 times went bought petrol.

      • petrol is less PITA agreed, best solution though: brushless running on rechargable batteries (OZito or ALDI)

      • +1

I have petrol now but it’s kinda heavy and annoying to maintain. Wanted something lightweight and non petrol. Would prefer battery tbh but deal was too good.

      • +2

Cable isn't so much the problem as much as power. Petrol mowers begin at around 5kw, while electric is limited to 2.4kw by the power point. As a result, all electric consumer tools are just gimped versions of their petrol guzzling brethren. They are really only suited to those pathetically small gardens of a few m2 that you find behind duplex's. Anything else, and the thin plastic chassis and flimsy wheels tend to buckle and break.

But at $50 for 2 tools, it'll work in a pinch.

        • servicin mowers? i just kep the oil topped up and who cares about it. Still cuts my grass after 20 years

        • Agree with all, apart from my lawns being pathetic. Flymo already lasted 12 years with zero hassle or maintenance. So quiet, no smell, starts instantly.

Mow away from a long lead, don't shove the mower, and keep the green bin nearby (catcher fills FAST due to weak throw).

I have preferences for all tools. But I've also got grit, a rare commodity in 2018. Gimme anything, and I'll get the job done without a whine.

    • +2

This was an amazing deal at $99! Can't believe it's dropped to half that price. They must really suck!

      • +1

Let's not assume it's half price nationwide, this particular store is just clearing stock.

        • Yeah, but it might be the same price elsewhere. Can you find out by calling your local Bunnings? I'm curious to try it… could be a great bargain if my local offers it at that price too…

    • Cheap for a reason?

    • +1

I’ve got the next model up 1400 watts and I find it fine. My block is just over 800m2. I hate mowing so let the grass grow quite long between cuts (like 100-400mm) and it manages it fine. I also got the next trimmer up, but don’t like it as much as the mower. It’s a bit front heavy as there’s no motor behind you like with a petrol one to counter balance it. Supposedly auto line advance but jams. Easy to stop and sort that out though. I only find the cord a minor nuisance. The light mower weight is great.

I reckon for 600m2 block or less this set would be fine.

    • Compared to the toxic fumes coming from my petrol one the electric one I got from Aldi is so much more comfortable to use. Cable isn't a big deal (I'm sure that opinion might change once I cut through a cable or two…).

      • +1

        If you survive

        • Been watching too many movies

    • It’s crap bought one

      • is it worth the $50?

    • +1

The power is a bit weak, I got a 1400w version, but the warranty is pretty good since you can return it within 3 years if it stops back to bunnings and it is as light as a toy version of it. When it gets too full and stalls the shutoff prevents it from turning back on for a few minutes as a "overheat protection".

Also buying a Separate 25m extension cord so I could reach my whole yard(mower cord give 0 extra at only 30cm length) and waving it about to stop it getting mowed over is a nag.

I thought I would post this, however I don't have much information.

My mum just rang me, told me Target had it at the front of their store on sale for $279
I said, it must be a mistake but she rang the store and called me back to confirm it was 55".

She rang NEWTON in SA, so i'm unsure if this is SA alone or Australia wide. It's not on their website, and I'm currently at work so don't have time to do anymore research.

However, if you're keen ring your local Target or if you're in SA I'm sure Newton has it. I'm going to try swing by in an hour and I might buy one for my bedroom, as the price is just too good to pass up.

    :)

edit Only 4 in stock atm at Newton.

    • Went to Target Reynella and they had the 40 inch Platinum tvs for $279, not the 55 inch

      • Castle Hill, NSW had 4x 55inchers at the front for $275 back on Jan 22. I was so tempted but I need 120hz these days.

      • I went to Newton, they sold out in 10 minutes. Someone bought 2, and a staff member bought 2.

I rang another Target to confirm, but they had the 55" for $399

The shelves are filled with heavily discounted car audio gear. There are a few newer Alpine head units with the 9-band Parametric EQ for $50 - which is a great deal as head units with this feature are very rare and usually around $300.

There are also heavily discounted amplifiers, speakers and GPS units in Castle Hill Homemaker.

    • Wow thats some cheap audio!

Going to assume ita only that store..

      • Rouse Hill had one Alpine head unit for $50 on Sunday so maybe it's all stores getting rid of stock for a new linup

        • getting rid of stock for a new linup

Do you have reviews or a link to the new linup ?

        • Was at jb a few days ago having a look but might have missed the car audio section, might need to go back

  • Merged from Betadine Lozenges From $2.60 Reduced to Clear At Woolworths

Thought this was a good deal. These things can be expensive. Not sure if its in all Woolworths Stores but was in my local one with lots having been sold too so may be more in other stores.

    • Good find OP. Looks like the sticker on the actual box is $1.82!

      • +1

That was one that was just laying there, so probably not in all stores. It only had a short time before expiry. The other ones were 2020.

    • Insufficient quantity?

      • No, it wasnt. It was reduced to clear, all woolworths stores. with some marked down due to being out of date too.

    • Not sure if its in all Woolworths Stores but was in my local one

Saw in store for $10 at my local target, there was 3 left but assuming available at other stores as it didn’t seem to be marked as clearance

    • at my local target

      Which is…

    • Although the Target price label says its AC750 it clearly isnt.

Its just a standard N300 2.4 single band ADSL "NBN ready" 10/100 router.

They are usually less than $40… I robbed one from the computer junk box at work and its just a simple pile of crap that works well as long as your expectations are low.

I believe these are BRCM processor so they have a good repuation for line stability if not necessarily speed.

      • Also NBN ready for FTTP only, no VDSL.

    Go to Deal

another weird deal from creepy rabbit

there are only 5 left it seems (I bought the 6th). then again this is not a deal for everybody

it doesn't happen often that mobile workstations go for this kind of money (for example pulling the same config straight from Dell is well upwards from $2k)

this is not the cream of the cream when it comes to mobile workstations, but at this price it makes a very reliable laptop

and think about it this way, for this kind of money you are getting:
    - i5-8300H (4 cores, 8 threads, 35W)
    - Quadro NVidia graphics card that is equal in performance to let's say mx150, so you can also get some gaming done, just don't expect AAA titles
    - 8gb of ddr4-2666 ram (you can upgrade to 32gb)
    - 256gb SSD (another SSD slot available)
    - reliable chipset to hold it all together
    - 92Wh (!) battery to keep going for the whole day
    - durable body that is built to military specifications
    - color accurate (90-odd percent sRGB coverage) matte 300nit FullHD IPS screen
    - plethora of ports (hello MacBook Pro) including 3 x USB, 1 x thunderbolt 3, Ethernet, VGA, HDMI 2.0
    - keyboard you can type War And Peace on
    - 3 (!) year warranty that comes to your home to fix things

precision 3530 is essentially latitude 5591 with improved components.

once you go precision, there's no going back though, I warned you.

P.S. it seems that this is sold through a few different resellers apart from eyo, google part number around, there is also 1 on eBay (free delivery), so shop around for good deal on delivery. prices fluctuate a bit, too

    • Where are you getting all the specs from?

      • here's description from the page: "PRECISION 3530 MOBILE WORKSTATION I5-8300H 8GB(2666-DDR4) 256GB(SSD) 15.6IN(FHD-NON-TOUCH) NV-P600(4GB) WL-AC BT 6-CELL BATTERY WIN10PRO64 3YR PRO ONSITE"

you have to be able to read this gibberish, but also you can go to Dell website to cross check options available for the model

    • Not really a deal….available for $1 cheaper at Skycomp.
      https://www.skycomp.com.au/24349547-5-dell-24349547-5-precis…

Not sure why this is posted, when the OP tells you to go google for a better price LOL!
Maybe its a ploy from the OP to hook people like me to find him a cheaper price…. damn i fell for it.

      • google for the better delivery to your postcode :) my job here is done anyway

      • and I got it the cheapest, because my reseller posted it as a bundle with a monitor, which was sweet, but when ordered, called me up to say they're out of the monitors, so partial refund brought the cost well below what googling will yield you

  • Merged from Soniq U55TX14A 55" 4K TV - Was $696 Now $299 @ JB Hi-Fi
    Go to Deal

I popped into JB Hi-Fi looking for a cheap 4K TV to use as a monitor. They had two of these 55" at the Rundle Mall store in Adelaide, clearing old stock was the explanation I was given. Not sure if this is in other stores or if I got lucky, but it seems like a decent screen for my needs (at $299 I'll make it work!)

    • beautiful 4k monitor!

      • +8

Provided you don't play games and sit further back than normal:
Even if you're not a gamer, this is equivalent to 1080p over 27.5" which will look very pixelated / blocky, plus most TV's use VA panels which do not have the great viewing angles of IPS. Normally this wouldn't be an issue for a regular size monitor but if you're sitting the standard 60-75cm away the edges of the 55" screen will be at quite an angle, impacting image quality.
IF you are a gamer, then it is outright terrible. Expect massive input lag and response time. Even the best TV's in "game mode" are lucky to be comparable to the very worst business-grade monitors when it comes to response time and input lag, and this isn't a top of the range TV…

However it should have a much larger contrast ratio and colour gamut than your typical monitor, so it would be great for watching movies etc. However professionals would be turned off by the poor accuracy.

        • So you mean a 300$ 55" 4k TV doesn't have the best picture quality and features?

          Sherlock? Is that you?

          • +2

            @nikoris: It's a $696 TV…

Now re-read your Sherlock comment to yourself. :)

        • +1

I was sick of working off of a 13" screen. I've just moved from the US and I'm used to running 3 x 2K 27" monitors on my desk and a 28" 4K monitor on the spare PC. This setup will work until my shipping container arrives. Solitaire is the only game I play, occasional YouTube and mainly Word, Excel and various remote desktops. I can now see them all at once.

        • +1

Thanks for your insight. I was hoping to find that exact info and you made it easy.

          Cheers.

        • Correct. I have a 43" 4K TV as a monitor and it is very big to get eyes around. Wondering if curved would be better.

    • Any good?

      • It's running a version of Android and I haven't done anything except update it so far. I'm reading around to try and work out the 'Cinavision' skin that it defaults to. It's big for a monitor. I thought I was using a 40" 1080p screen, turns out it was a 32"! This may be too big as a desktop monitor and end up as an extra TV.

        • +4

Sorry I can't help but laugh thinking of you sitting at a desk with a keyboard and 55" monitor in front of you 😂

          • +4

@Moses: It is as ridiculous as you are imagining!

          • @Moses: I did with a 40" and it was awesome.

Of course I mostly gamed and YouTubed but was also good for browsing.

        • I'm laughing reading this comment.

    • How do you connect this to pc?

      • HDMI?

      • HDMI cable (may need an adapter for your laptop if it doesn't support it), or could use a device like a Chromecast to cast your screen wirelessly (but not the most reliable).

      • I plugged in an HDMI cable and my laptop instantly recognized it and scaled perfectly. Is windows 10 smart enough to know the screen size? My laptop has a 13" 4k screen and is scaled at 200%, when I plugged this screen in the laptop stayed at 200 and this is at 100%.

        • In short yes it is lol

I'm wondering if its just Highett that has them. It could be a wider are thing as they're not on the website. Did you know they opened a new store in Mentone? Supposed to be the biggest in the Southern hemisphere. How bout that O.O

        • I've heard about the mentone store. It's the closest OW to where I've moved to. Have you been? Are they still having the 20% off (almost) everything?

            Have you?

            • @outlander: Nope. Nor have I been to the Aldi that's there either. I'm a creature of habit. It's been weeks since we've moved into our new place and I still shop where we used to shop prior to moving. Might get to it eventually if that's where the cool kids hang out.

Edit: Looks like OW mentone has a full-size 3d scanner like the one on Russell Street.

Despite missed a wrong priced 10TB my book, A$365.89 + Delivery is still a good price you can get a good quality of 10TB HDD. Like many others who get $30 voucher after missed the deal, people still get chance to get a cheaper one like this.

Not 100% a bargain price but it may be suitable to someone who need to expend their HDD urgently without paying an AU market price. A$335.89 + free delivery with Free Prime & voucher is still a good price.

    Regards,

    • I don't even know why I bought one of these @ $130 couple of weeks ago

      • What?

        • I didn't get it neither.

    • Bad price, shouldn't be more than $250-$270 or even less based on history.

$149 on clearance at bunnings Marion SA
    https://imgur.com/fGwFvqb
6 on the shelf i saw, they are in the middle of the store near the special orders desk on a clearance rack.

    Comes with 2 x 3.0Ah batteries.

    Skin only currently $199! https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-brushle…

    • +6

Whoa!!! The skin is absolutely worth $199 let alone the kit… but the whole kit for $149 is insane value!! These are a rock solid unit and are streets ahead of the standard, smaller $120 model and these kits include the Dual Fast-Charger too! I'm going to check out my local Bunnings tomorrow for sure :) Nice work OP!

I've posted this image on OzBargain before but this is what I managed to do on a single charge on mine and it just ate through it all so much easier than my $2000 Husqvarna mega-beast. There's also another 4 or 5 12-14" sections at the other end of the pile too, just out of view. So much lighter, nimble and far more enjoyable to use than the Husky. Can't recommend this enough oh and you can buy extra chains off eBay for not much which makes life so much easier when you've got a big job to do and don't have the time (or patience) to sharpen the chain all the time.

      • Is the chain tensioner any good? I have a petrol ozito that has plenty of compression/ grunt ..but the whole side falls off mid cut as the tensioner is just a hand wheel that slips off once Chain oil runs through it ( not a great experience having a chain flying off at ya at speed). Sadly, wrapping the whole saw up in duct tape does the job…but feel it might be time to find something a little less 'hand grenadey'.

        • Yeah, I know what you mean. The tensioner on the Husky is a serious piece of kit, a large die cast panel with two substantial bolts and grub screw adjust mechanism. Once it's set it doesn't budge. The Ozito tensioner on both the cheap model and the Brushless model is an all-plastic, hand-tighten affair which isn't as robust however I've never had the same problem you've had. I think I've had the chain slowly slacken on the cheaper model during the first few uses but after re-tensioning it didn't do it again and the Brushless model has been rock solid throughout the several sessions I've used it.

If you already have some of the Ozito PXC Eco system then this is a no-brainer however if you dont then maybe compare it to offerings from other brands and decide from there along with whatever needs/wants you may be considering in the future too.

I have an 80V Sthil e-saw, fairly gutless, okay for pruning and up to about 4" shrubs but other then that can't pull the skin off a custard.

PITA to sharpen the chain is another gripe as it's tiny :( I wonder how this would fair ???? (serious question as it might be ok for my partner to use for pruning ?)

      • +1

Refer to my comment above… this thing can easily cut through 12-14" Wattle trunks & branches which is well known for being painful to cut as I learnt the very hard way. This unit is far more than just a pruner, it out-performs my 83cc 26" Husqvarna and I'm still not sure why! I sharpen the chain the same way before each session and this Ozito just blows it away every time. All I can assume is that maybe the Husky runs too fast for the pesky Wattle I have to deal with which in turn blunts the chain faster but I still haven't had a chance to prove/disprove that theory even though I was taught (TAFE course!) to always run a chainsaw at full revs during a cut. Either way I now actually enjoy my chainsaw sessions instead of dreading the task and it's all thanks to this excellent saw.

    • I didn't think I needed a chainsaw in my life until I saw this deal. Fingers crossed it's nation wide but clearance items rarely are :(

      • +1

Everyone needs a chainsaw in their life, you never know when you need to get rid of a body…

    • What time were there 6 left? Wondering if it’s worth heading there in the morning?

      • +1

        Approx 3:30-4.

        Hardly anyone in there either.

        • Thanks. Will try in the morning

    • +1

Would be great if you could post the receipt, might help get the same price at another store.

      • +1

I actually didn't buy one, was in a rush & didn't know how good a deal it was until i got home.

Went back today but they are all gone ;(

        • Was there at 9am grabbed one and 15 min later they were all gone. You may have shot yourself in the foot posting here & missing out yourself…pity. No consolation but I have to say thank you! Been checking every weekend for ages to see if they were discounted. I'm chuffed :)

        • The Marion store staff told me there is heaps of stock at other stores, but looks like $299 is the usual price. If anyone is near Mile End have a look as they have 25 units.

      • They were in the front-of-store promotion area at my local, but for the full $299. The toolshop guy said clearance are per-store only, typically when that store is no longer going to stock that particular item, and they wouldn't price match another store's clearance.
There's enough trees around me that the local price is unlikely to drop anytime soon.

Originally bought one at David Jones this morning, but they cancelled my order due to lack of stock. Then saw it on Amazon for same price.

Why do I get reported for insufficient quantity?

That's why I put it as a forum post instead of a deal.

    • That's cheap. We paid $5k for our Golden Retriever.

Saw this on a facebook post, sharing after the huge interest following the sellout of these from Aldi stores around Aus.

    https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2488266391…

Described as standing 1.2 meters tall these 2 units have the following description with them.
"Arcade one game system Rampage or Street Fighter II, 17' Colour Screen - 3 games in 1: Street Fighter ll Champion Edition, Street Fighter ll The New Challengers and Street Fighter ll Turbo"
or "4 games in 1: Rampage, Gauntlet, Joust and Defender"

These are very good starting cabinets if you want to mod it later and can't be bothered building one from scratch.
Note: the 2 cabinets have unprotected graphics where the joysticks and buttons are so if you are planning on buying these you might want to think about spraying some clear on the graphic part as to not wear the graphics with your hands. I believe they have fixed this on the later builds by putting a clear PVC over the top

      • hi bogak, can you kindly advise with your statement "spraying some clear on the graphics"

is this some kind of protectant sealant? are you be able to share some info or brand on this one?

        do bunnings sell it?

        Thanks mate

        • Just any standard clear in a spray can will do. I just bought mine from Supercheap, the ones you use on cars. You can also purchase a clear protector from 1up separately but I wasn't too keen on the extra height it would give and they don't have the Street Fighter one anyway.

    • where is the link to the actual product being sold?

    • +1

Has anyone here successfully modded one of these to run retropie or similar? Interested to know if they are hard wired or if I could just replace the current unit with a raspberry Pi easily.

    • +1

      Will they actually ship?

    • +1

Just rang them. They only have 2 of the street fighters, and 3 of the rampages. They are built, not boxed, and they have some slight damage.

      • Edit: nevermind

    • +1

Unfortunately Pick up only - no shipping. Also unlike the Aldi ones that came in Ikea style kit form. All of these units are ex display stock and have been pre assembled, which would make shipping very expensive even if they offered it.
