Tips:

  • Use "add to basket" if you are buying more than one item to minimise the number of times you use this coupon, while ensuring your basket holds less than $1,500 of items to avoid the $300 cap.
  • Do your research first. Some retailers/items may be overpriced, certain items will be cheaper elsewhere even without the 20% off.
  • As always don't forget 2% cash back from Cash Rewards. Help
  • Dick Smith is having their own sale on their site. It's always best to compare the prices between DSE eBay and the DSE website.

"immediate payment required" — this means i cant pay later yeah? bummerrrrrrr :(

        • @lemonadeskies:

          that sucks :(

        • +1

@imtahir7: "Buy it now" won't allow you to pay later.
I think "Commit to Buy" would allow you to pay later.

I ended up getting the Gigabyte z97x-ud5h and i7-4790K from Kogan with the 10% off plus the $50x2 vouchers.

It works out to be similar prices as with the 20% off (assuming that the price will increase by 10% tomorrow).

        • @congngo:

heya, where is the commit to buy option?

        • -1

@lemonadeskies: Kogan doesn't have one, not for the sale items anyways.
I didn't buy my items as part of the 20% sale.

Instead I got them as part of the $50 voucher promo which just expired 30 mins ago.

        • @congngo:

Instead I got them as part of the $50 voucher promo which just expired 30 mins ago.

$50 voucher offer is still up on their main page and active

        • @Roscoe99: Likely it will end sometime today.
Don't think that eBay will give you $50 plus 20% discount tomorrow.

        • @congngo:

It'll definitely end today. You're telling people that it expired last night when it clearly hasn't.

        • -1

          @Roscoe99: No it has expired.

In regards to the 10% off from Kogan, happyantix mentioned that it will expire today, but it hasn't…

That's probably because it's still today. These ebay deals generally expire 23:59 on the expiry date

          Plus they've already said

Not to be used in conjunction with any other eBay coupon/voucher.

        • @lostn:
If you purchased some of the products from Kogan that are 10% off, you should still get the $50 voucher.

      • Koan, still have their 10% off ….
Darn I brought my items already assuming the 10% off would finish.

Who said that it would end today?

    • +1

it's crazy deal only if there's something that you need (want) to buy. otherwise useless discount

  • I'll be watching with interest at whether I can use this on a Kogan-delivered Canon L series glass :)

  • +1

Secretly, i'd love this to be a hotukdeals prank.

    Baaaargaaaiin waaaarrrssss. FIGHT!!!

  • -4

jus tried it doesnt work :(

    • It doesn't start until tomorrow…

    • try tomorrow after 7AM like the description says

This brings back memories of the 40% off BBQ's category.. and the mad scramble to grab a Weber. One of the sweetest deals ever.

    • +2

I would get a BabyQ and take it everywhere, so people could be more jealous of my meat, wherever I go, than usual.

    • Great times and I highly doubt it would be repeated again.
PS it was 50% off :)

  • Cant belive that i missed the uk 20% off deal, i was waiting to buy a few things, hope eBay will do it again soon

    • was capped at $100 off so don't fret, if this is legit you can make up for it here :)

      • +1

ya but the items i am looking to buy is not from either of the listed stores.

  • +1

If this deal is real why wouldn't ebay advertise it earlier like the last time?

  • does anyone here think i'm better off buying the s6 32gb over the iphone 6 16gb (when factoring in the price of 700 for the samsung and 750 for the iphone 6)

    • +7

I would challenge the idea entirely, in all honesty.
Keep in mind, you're allowed to have legitimate defences to these, but I'll still state my case.

iPhone? Sure if thats the OS you like, and have to have it, you have no option.

But Samsung? As much as I'd back them over Apple if they were the only two, the question stands, why them?
Android is such a verbose operating system that you can modify in any way you want (hell, put the samsung touchUI on another brand if you want to!).

I just struggle to see why something like a Samsung can demand $750 when the same specifications, and sometimes better, can be had from another brand for at least $500 LESS.

Before trying the BlackBerry 10 phones, (and will never go back! entire Google Play store, 3 days battery, keyboard, yes please), I had a Galaxy 3 and a Note, Note 2, and even original Galaxy Tab.

I then imported a Zoppo, and it was identical in use, but…. 1\10th the price.
Then I tried a Cube G30T tablet, once again, faster than my $400 Tab, and only $120 delivered.

I'm genuinely open to being educated here, but when going Android, why is Samsung the 'go to'?

      • +1

Samsung have done a great job marketing. Instead of people thinking iOS vs Android, a lot of the general public think iPhone vs Samsung. Their flagships are typically compared with the iPhone, and their recent S6 received stand out reviews. While Android is available through a range of brands (I myself have an LG), some people just aren't aware of the plethora of other options. Other people may prefer to go with Samsung as it has a big brand backing it (warranty, reliability, support). Also, if you use your phone every day, you might feel the premium price point is worth a premium phone experience.

        • +2

That makes sense from a buyers point of view who hasnt experienced the other side; thanks.
When I found out how well Zoppo was doing in germany I had to try one, 'chinese' sourced or not.

IMO, when you buy a phone or tablet these days, they're all just a sheet of glass that you swipe across.
They're all thin, all solid state, most have very similar CPUs and specs.

I've always bought through FastCardTech so warranty was never a concern, I've used it once for smaller items and never an argument.

I guess when you see 'China phones' show up on Ozbargain, with specs written right there, so you can compare with a Samsung, I just find it odd that a user of this site is still stuck with the two brands.

Maybe its a remanant of when iphones FIRST came out, and 'knockoffs' were cheap and had 'china OS' on them. Perhaps people haven't been educated that thanks to Android and the cheap costs of ARM hardware, 'China Phones' are now often BETTER than their western competitors.

I good example was the spectrum aura (now discontinued), with a 4000MAH battery, and a 720p screen (you dont need more on a 4" display ><, it was done to save battery) getting 4+ days out of heavy use was AWESOME!

      • +1

Review say the S6 has arguably the best camera on a phone. The exynos SoC is faster than the s810/808 the other flagships are using this gen. It offers a fingerprint scanner. These are a few reasons someone may go for the S6 over other android phones.

      • I'm not sure whether Samsung are the go-to, my experience so far has not really found a better option. Been thoroughly unimpressed with HTC for a while, detest apple on many levels, had a very hit/mostly miss cheap chinese brand experiences. However, i am certainly NOT saying Samsung are best bang for buck. Not even close. I have a Cube tablet and a Galaxy note 10.1 tablet…. in all fairness, i liked the Cube but once i got the note 10.1 its vastly superior in every way. Worth the premium over the Cube without doubt, but i cannot speak to cheaper samsung tabs.

    • +1

It just depends on your operating system preference, they're both great phones. Do you already have apps bought on one platform? Or interest in a smartwatch/Apple watch? Go with that one.

That said, as MasterScythe mentioned, if you do decide to go Android over iOS, you will get 90% of the performance from something like a OnePlus One (and actually a great looking phone, too) for only $300.

    • +1

I would skip this gen of mobile phones and wait for next year.
Some great androids coming out next year for much better pricing.

      • +8

some even better coming out the year after

        • Mobile phones are actually overpriced, compared to tablets.

So hoping in the future when we have more competitors in the mobile phone space, that the prices will be closer to the $500-$600 mark, instead of the $900-$1000 mark.

      • I want to see the nexus 5 2015. Hopefully Google get it right this time.

  • +3

A deal that even EBAY don't advertise. Comparing to previous 20% deals from Ebay, they advertised them a few days in advance.

OP created a new account just for this, 1 post, 0 comment. Could this be the biggest prank in Ozbargain's history? I hope not :)

    • -4

I hope not too, I'm missing my 10% off my item for hopes of this 20% off.
I have a bloody big list of ongoing medical bills so every dollar counts!

If he's made me miss the 10% off for nothing, heads will roll.

I'm assuming the mods would have checked for a UK IP address to ensure he's Australian when posting this?

    • +3

At least one person will be very upset tomorrow.

    • It is confirmed.

  • Hoping this is real or else there's going to be a lot of disappointed ozbargainers.

  • This is going to be so funny :D HAHAHA

  • When you enter the code it says "not available yet". Doesnt that imply that it will be?

    • +1

      keep trying

      • +1

Ill try tomorrow when its supposed to be active. Just curious what it said.

    • +3

Well if you put some random code in, it doesn't say anything. So it's definitely differentiating between a non-existent code and this one somehow.

  • I put my whole EOFY shopping basket on this, now it looks like will be a big disappointment.

    • Why?

  • I'm looking for a 10' tablet any suggestions?

    • Nexus 9 or Samsung Tab S 10.1"

      • Was looking at the nexus 9 I heard there are 2 gens. Gen 2 being the one with better buttons. And at the price point is it worth?

    • I'm getting a Z4 if the code works tommorow.

      • which store?

        • At least according to the search link in OP, only Kogan have them.

        • @zzyss:
Ah, just noticed that this was in reply to a tablet question so KimTaeyeon was referring to the z4 tablet and not the phone…

        • +1

          @cosjav:

Yeah, no worries. I had the same idea initially too…

    • +3

Dang, a 10 foot tablet? If you find one of those, I want one, discount or not.

    • I have a samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 LTE tab and i think it is brilliant. 1 year on, i could not be happier with it. One of the best purchases i have made in a long time. Whatever the new/comparable version of that it i would recommend.

  • So have any of the stores raised their prices yet? :P

    • not for the kit i've been watching :D pray for mojo!

    • Prices will be raised at 7AM tomorrow.

  • +1

    Any confirmation at all?

  • +7

I have just had a look at Ozsale ebay store and they have a banner advertising the code c20extra. Dick Smith as well.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/rpp/HumpMonth20

  • +1

time to plus the deal ;)

  • Confirmed :)

  • +1

Awesome! And just took a screenshot of the item I want… See if it changes at 6:55am, lol.

  • I have something in mind. It's already 10% off. I really hope it doesn't go back up tomorrow. If it does go back up, it will still be a saving compared to buying it today, but I won't buy it.

    • That probably expires tonight

      • Meh. I get to save money then.

  • DAMN! Nobody expect Kogan has the Galaxy Note 4 Edge:(

    • Just noticed kogan raised the price of some phones by $100

  • Dick smith doesnt have click&collect for the Samsung s6 :(

  • G4 or S6? hrmm

    • +1

Hard choice. Depends whether you like Touchwiz mainly. Cameras are both excellent and designs are nice. G4 has expandable storage and a cleaner OS but both phones are great!

    • -2

S6 battery isn't great my sister has one

  • thoughts on iphone 6 64gb for $959.2? australian stock too

    • It's that price at DSE also, which is where I would rather buy it from.

      • isn't DSE 16gb? how much are they selling the 64gb for?

        • Oh my bad. You wrote iPhone 6 and I mistook it for Galaxy S6.

          That price sounds good.

        • @lostn:

yeah the previous offer was 899 for the iphone 64gb but that wasnt aussie stock, so less warranty. but im worried about the iphone 6s coming out, should i take that into consideration?

        • @lemonadeskies: The 6S won't be this price for a while.. and by the time it is, you'll be thinking about iPhone 7…

Waiting is a vicious game. If it was next month, I'd wait, but it's about 3 months away.

  • I'm going to ask possibly a silly question (pardon my ignorance)….
The op who posted this deal has 1 post / 0 comments.
How do we know this is actually going ahead?
Where did they get this deal from? targeted? do they work for ebay/paypal?
I don't get it, how did it all come about, without anything coming directly from eBay or paypal?

    • +3

First rule of ozbargain … ask not about where deals come from ;)

      • -1

I can see the link from the post.. I'm questioning where it even came from - no one has received any email/comms to state its on offer tomorrow.
        I'm not that ignorant mate

    • +4

Few comments up is the proof, op must be an ebay insider and most likely has a second ozbargain account but didn't want the heat.

      • +1

        That makes sense!
        No further questions :)

    • Inside sources. Anyway it's confirmed now.

And yes it most likely was someone else who already posts here but didn't want to get traced for leaking.

  • +1

Can I buy now and pay tomorrow with the discount code.??
I don't want the price to go up.

    • Try it and see… ;)

      • Did anyone try it during previous similar deals?

  • Oohh! Just plugged in my old Mac Mini and realised i need a ram upgrade..

    Memory 2 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 ( Mac Mini mid 2011)

I'm not tech savvy, but I hear it can only support maximum 8GB of Ram (Not 16GB)

Anyone able to point me in the right direction of which ram I need from the sale?
    Thanks

    Edit: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202283

    • +1

I have 16Gb in mine (Mac Mini Mid 2011) without any problems. You need SODIMM memory (i.e. laptop ram)
