OzBargain 2018 Members' Monthly Awards

Here's a new post for announcing 2018's monthly members awards. We have been doing these monthly awards for the quite a few years now (2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017) to recognise and reward those who had made significant contributions on OzBargain. Usually those who have posted the popular deals / competitions, but also occasionally those who are helpful in providing useful comments.

Winners receive prize of $100 in either gift cards or PayPal credit.

    • +1

that's the monthly statistics usually come out mid month.

      • A statistic is not an award.

    • I'd be keen I'm in contention for that =D

    • It's jv

  • +5

Wow. that is amazing surprise .. Didn't know about this reward system earlier..
    Thanks Scotty.. :)

    • +2

    February 2018

    Winners from last month:

    • jackofspade for posting the deal of the month, FREE Kogan Mobile Prepaid Voucher Code. With 12,000+ click throughs to the deal I wonder how many SIM cards have actually Kogan given away.

    • Being Askhole for posting the most number of deals last month. 176 deals in a 28-day month (probably a record, but I'll have to lookup) and 84 of them getting on the OzBargain front page.

    • gnv9 for posting the most competitions last month. She posted 309 comps including the competition of the month, Win a Renault Koleos Life from Seven Network.

    • pegaxs for posting informative comments. One of the top 10 commenters last month (451 comments) but with the highest voting average. Just let me use this opportunity to remind people not to reply OP with pointless/off-topic comments in forum. Often we'll see someone asking a genuine question in our community forum, but none of the first replies are on-topic, let alone helpful. These comments will be flagged as off-topic or unpublished by moderators.

    Congratulations!

    • +4

No way! You mean I beat out @tuzii and @BrodenIt ? Wow!

I'm just here trying to help out and give back where I can! Cheers, scotty. :D

      • +3

        You cannot beat The Broden.

        • +3

But in Ozbargainland, the Broden beats you.

      • +3

        winner winner, chicken dinner

      • They're now both in the sin bin, did winning a monthly award give you that power 😮

        (Joking of course)

        • Wow! tuzii is out till the start of April. Someone dun goofed. Big time…

I did think it was weird that I hadn’t heard a peep from either of them in a few days.

I don’t mind them. Most of the time their comments are pointless and harmless… Guess they said something they shouldn’t have…

        • @pegaxs:
i said bad things, but im back
          xoxoxox

        • @tuzii:

          *fist pump*

By all means, shitpost, but just be a bit more careful this time. It was weird for the last month going to threads and neither you or BrodenIt had top off topic/comedic value post. :D

        • @pegaxs:
          i gotta get to 10k posts ;)

        • +1

          @tuzii:

Less than 300 to go. So that’ll be done by Saturday afternoon! :D

I look forward to reading some of your new content. Had a month off, you must have some great, new material ready to unleash…

        • @tuzii: Congratulations on your successful return from the Penalty Box, Dear Leader! It must have been a holiday compared to Pyongyang.

  • +6

    for posting informative comments

I think there's been a mistake Scotty, I should have been awarded that.

  • +1

Can't believe it.. :) Once again awesome surprise… love my OZB mates.. its becoming family :D
    Thanks Scotty.. cheers..

    • +4

      its becoming family

If you keep up the good work Scotty will eventually invite you over for dinner.

    • PJC and his nicely compiled Seiko watch deals won the deal of the month in March with most votes. PJC has also posted 4 other watch deals last month from brands such as Tissot, Frederique Constant and Oris.

    • Being Askhole for posting the most deals last month — 175 deals with +33.2 vote average. Top categories are "Electrical & Electronics" (35 deals), "Gaming" (35 deals) and "Home & Garden" (24 deals). 3rd consecutive win for BA.

    • gnv9 for again totally dominating the competition section of OzBargain, including most popular comp (Win $15,000 Cash from Network Ten), most clicked comp (Win Bordeaux River Cruise from Scenic) and just the total number of competitions posted (308 comps with +11.3 vote average). It's also 9th consecutive win for gnv9.

    • Each month I also go through highly voted comments manually to find poster of informative comments. This month the winner is Len2801 for giving some suggestions in that AAMI insurance dispute thread that's both informative and useful. Hopefully the OP of that thread has this sorted out soon.

    Congratulations to all the winners!

    • +8

Well done to all. Well-deserved awards.

    • +4

Congrats PJC. I posted my Kogan deal on the 1st of March and was nervously watching for the entire month! Glad to lose to a post with so much effort.

    • +3

      Thanks Scotty, congrats to all!

Fingers crossed an OzBargainer takes home the $10,000. 😊

    • +3

I'm sorta concerned about Being Askhole. He just disappeared? He posted a bunch of posts/comments on the 3rd and that was the last time he's logged on since. He even had 4 consecutive chatty badges up until that point. Does anyone know if he's ok?

      • On holidays maybe… hopefully…

      • I hope it wasn't because a certain user seemed to be trolling him.

  • +8

    July 2018

    Winners from last month:

    Congratulations to all!

  • +9

    August 2018

    Winners from last month:

    • 1112223334 for posting the deal of the month, Officeworks Price Beat Guarantee policy update with almost +2000 votes. Basically Officeworks removed the requirement of identical warranty, making it possible to ask OW to price beat grey imported items by 5%. It was posted by an employee with a few other OW employees contributing in the comments (as well as Officeworks HQ take-down requests & attempts to get details on those employees).

    • gnv9 for posting the most voted comp (Win PS4 Pro Bundles from Sony), most entered comp (Win a Bauhn TV & Soundbar from ALDI), most clicked-through comp (Win Commodore Calais V from Network Ten) and the most number of competitions posted (414 comps).

    • RichardL, who is one of the latest power users, for being extremely helpful in updating deals and giving insightful comments on many topics especially anything related to power banks.

    Congratulations to all.

    • +3

      Awesome work gnv!

      • +2

Thank you dylo, was a good month for comps :) Congratulations to the other members and as always I’m grateful to scotty/mods for the award.

    • +4

(as well as Officeworks HQ take-down requests & attempts to get details on those employees).

I take it that you got bombarded with emails from OW HQ demanding info on the posters? Ridiculous considering their policy is public.

      • I had no idea either. Thanks to Ozbargain for having my back!

    • +4

1112223334 for posting the deal of the month, Officeworks Price Beat Guarantee policy update

Has to be the best ever first post from any user!!

      • +2

        An enormous achievement.

      • +1

        I've peaked too young :(

    September 2018

We'll be doing something different for September — awarding contributors who have not yet been award this year. We are getting to a point where it has always been the same group of people posting most deals or competitions, and the same group of users winning our monthly awards. However OzBargain is a big community with thousands of other contributors, and here are some notable award winners from September 2018:

    • Darkii for posting the confirmation photo of upcoming AmEx Shop Small deal, a deal that has been very popular in the past. It was one of the top 10 deals last month, and it should get more popular when November hits.

    • Katie2014 has been posting quite a lot of competitions back in 2015 and 2016, took a break and has been back posting comps again. Last month she posted 158 competitions including the most clicked comp — Win Coles Little Shop Display Case from Nova100.

    • pifts for his/her random act of generosity of giving away Domino's ThickShake voucher when someone posted a WTB in Classified. This one is actually recommended by a moderator — yes we do look out for these kindness in the comments.

    • alvian for his work as a power user last month — 379 edits over 337 deals/forum posts.

    Congratulations!

    • Congrats alvian, well deserved for all your hard work with the editing!

      • +1

I am speechless. Thanks team for the award.

        • Well done alvian. Thank you to the power users for correcting my posts!

    • +2

Good job scotty. It's always good to see some new names in the mix. Good job on pifts too for the random act of generosity. That's probably the one part of the site I don't frequent and probably should start.
