January Stats & February News.
A bit of a sad but not unexpected news that our sister site, CheapCheapLah is shutting down at the end of the month.
CheapCheapLah was launched almost 8 years ago due to requests from the Australian expat community and Singaporeans coming back from Australia. They all want something like OzBargain in Singapore, so we contemplated providing one. Initially we thought we'll just build a platform to facilitate bargain hunters in Singapore to share and discover deals and promotions, and the community will gradually grow, similar to what we have in Australia and New Zealand.
Looking at the stats, there was no significant event but just a slow loss of traffic and community over the years. It's a good lesson for companies that just because something worked great in one country (or 2), doesn't mean it will do well in another.
There is no doubt that tightarse and Cashrewards are deeply integrated into the OzBargain community. The short history for those not in the know is that TA was a prolific poster on OzBargain for many years but like many in the tech industry was let go of his job. A bromance between Andrew from Cashrewards and TA happened with TA hired by Cashrewards. Eventually, Cashrewards went public on the ASX and down the line was bought by ANZ. Fast forward to 2024 and TA has called quits at Cashrewards. What a ride.

Here's the winners for the last month of 2023. Last December has been a slow month
shxhshzhz for posting the most voted deals last month, 50% off OnePass 1 Year Membership $20 via Officeworks. Those 50% off 1 Year OnePass deals have been posted regularly last year and proved to be pretty popular. shxhshzhz has also posted 42 deals in January with vote average of +56.5.
Hinee for sharing the most clicked deal last month, Dreamworld Locals Annual Pass $50 @ Experience Oz. 25k+ clicks when it was available only to Queenslanders and those reside in northern NSW. Looks like some of you might organise a Dreamworld OzBargain meetup later this year.
mbcd for posting the fastest trending deal in January, Google Pixel 7 128GB $499 @ Telstra. Definitely one of the most popular phone on OzBargain for sure. JB Hi-Fi tried to match the price or made it even cheaper with Perks however the OG deal got to +30 votes in a bit just over 14 minutes.
Phalaxis for posting the most voted & most entered competition last month, Win a Samsung 75" Smart TV + Soundbar Worth $2,798 from Telstra. Phalaxis has posted 131 competitions in January with vote average of +15.4, including this competition that registered the most win last month.
