Yeah I know it's late — almost half way through February, but here is the post for announcing 2019's monthly members awards. We have been doing these monthly awards since 2014 to reward those who had made significant contributions on OzBargain. Usually those who have posted the popular deals / competitions, but also occasionally those who are helpful in providing useful comments.

Winners receive prize of $100 in either gift cards or PayPal credit.

For 2019 we are also aiming to diversify the winners a bit so that it's not the same people winning all the prizes.

    If it's the same people doing the contributing, how are you aiming to do this?

      There are a lot of OzBargainers contributing although if just going by the stats, the variation isn't that great. However we do not have to give prize to someone who has posted the most deals / posted the most voted deal / etc. It could be good deal for certain category, getting the most clicks, generate most discussions, etc. I'll pick & choose whoever will be receiving the members award.

        No. Employees and associates are ineligible for prizes. This exclusion is governed by NSW law to avoid the obvious conflict of interest. I hope you are simply curious and not trying to making an accusation.

        An example of how the law operated in real life, tightarse drawn his name during the Cashrewards meet-up lucky dip. Nobody doubted that it was a fair draw but he immediately did a redraw. (But his name shouldn't have been in the hat in the first place, so that was an oversight on the part of CR.)

    Why is the most posted deal category missing from November 2019?
    I would like to know if BA's record of 139 deals this year is still the record for deals posted per month? Or if anyone has broken Monty.Melb's record of 153 deals a month?

    And: Is there an easy to find link for the statistics for each month, please?

      dealbot (aka chibot) did it in August 2018 with 236 deals posted.

    2019 OzBargain Contributors of the Year

    It's almost the end of the year. December's award will be announced in early January, but I would like to bring attention to the top contributors to OzBargain in 2019.

    • dealbot for all the deals he has shared with us this year. As of this morning (23 Dec), dealbot has posted 1070 deals with +108 vote average, and 871 of them got onto the home page. That's average 3 deals a day, every single day so far in 2019 — except on the 22 June he has posted 9 deals. Most popular deal posted was this Amazon cashback deal from ShopBack 2 weeks ago.

    • gnv9 for posting all the competitions this year. In 2019 she has so far posted 2,786 comps, averaging +20.5 votes and 103 entries. Out of all competitions she posted, there have been 476 wins (although I suspect many winners don't mark the win properly). Most voted & most entered being winning a Mazda 3.

    • alvian for being that cool ever-so-helpful Power User with a hat that made 4,600+ edits to fix up issues with deals / comps posted. He has also worked tirelessly over some of the big shopping events (Click Frenzy, Black Friday, etc). The moderation team is sincerely grateful for all the fixes and reports.
