Top Deals, Comments, Forum Posts, Members of The Month and Other Stats for January 2017

One of the goals of 2017 was to reduce the amount of duplicate deals being posted. Duplicate deals use up moderation time and frustrate users not only posting the deals but those who continue to see the new deals before actioned. We've sent out more than a dozen PMs to users who have posted duplicates to find out the reason why and the number one issue is our duplicate detector not picking up the original deal. So that's the first thing we are fixing. Longer term we will be revamping the deal submission form to make it more user friendly and less walls of text. We'll track these in the stats once the changes have been implimented.

Also part of the goals was calling out disrespectful comments and quashing conspiracy theories by having 1 on 1 conversations explaining how OzBargain works. I'm actually a bit surprised in how receptive people were so there ya go, life lesson, sometimes it just takes a short conversation make things better. Like R U OK? promotes, meaningful conversations can go a long way.

P.S. 2016 Zeitgeist coming soon.

  • Quiet month for deal posting!

    Cheers neil

    • oops, I stuffed up the stats big time. A lot are for partial Feb. Will fix shortly. All Fixed.

      • Lol need another coffee there?

Actually had 2 free coffees from Regus today. User error. I'll make it my new policy to post to mod forum for proofreading before publishing.

          All fixed.

          Holy crap

        • @neil: Is your OzBargain office a Regus lounge by exploiting their free membership?

        • +1

          @Clear:

Yep. Only use it if I'm in the city. My membership is apparently valid until 2078.

        • @neil: Impressive. Regus staff don't know/care?

        • @Clear:

Well, they never seem to actually enter it into a computer. They write down the number on a piece of paper where who knows what they do with it. But membership is valid if they actually checked on screen.

They make their money off virtual offices + short term office space, not the business lounges. Business lounges can range from benches in a kitchen to pods with views of the city. Most of the Melbourne ones are pods. Shaw travelled through Asia and worked at Regus. He can probably tell you more.

        • @neil: Very interesting. I very recently got Regus Gold so I was curious how it worked. Looks like I'll be checking out those Melbourne pods.

tightarse is quite impressive. That's at least 3 months in a row he's had all of his deals posted make the front page.
