The Census was a bit of a fiasco this year as you all know. Spackbace attemped an OzBargain census which showed that OzBargain members who voted in that thread were made up of 33% female and 66% male with males 30-39 being the largest demographic.

In comparison, our stats from our Facebook Page show a 61%/38% split with males 25-34 being the largest demographic.

We have two milestones coming up. First, we are turning 10 years old in November and we have some new t-shirts to give out.

July 2016

Winners from last month:

  • kurupted for the most popular deal last month, 20% off Tech at selected eBay store. eBay percentage-off deals have been winning the most popular award in March, May and June so far this year so for anything who wants to give a try in scoring a gold badge (+$100 award) — look out for special banners and/or landing pages on eBay just in case deals get leaked :)

  • lyl for posting the most deals (56) and having most of them on the front page (47 with +97 vote average). 4 deals out of the top 10 last month were posted by lyl (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th).

  • Spackbace for the most popular competition last month, Win a Skoda Sedan. Spackbace has posted 44 deals & 30 competitions last month, and this Samsung Home Theatre pack was the most clicked competition. Not to mention he has also beaten jv and Diji1 to become the most commented user in July (668 comments). However, has anyone actually won a car from all those comps posted by Spackbace?

  • abhi4u05 for posting a competition that's even more popular than Spackbace's at this point in time. Scratch and Win from The Good Guys actually gets more votes when you add the ones from August. Moreover it's probably a more rewarding competition as well, as 31 users have claimed to win TGG store credit so far. Congratulations also to all the other competition winners!

  • Cheers neil :)

  • We have two milesstones coming up. First, we are turning 10 years old in November and we have a some new t-shirts to give out.

    Wot u say fam?

But on a serious note, thanks for making this post, I got a special surprise for the 10th.

    • +1

Fixed but if you read that in the voice of Super Mario then it makes sense.

I'm surprised to be in the list of most competition posts as 4 isn't much. I didn't realise there weren't many posters.

  • +1

Do you mind showing us the whole shirt design?

  • +2

    Spackbace, long live the king!!!

Also can't wait for a t-shirt comp, try making it easier this time so I can get one :/

EDIT: Have to say, my favourite deal from last month was the Wii for $28. Got one for my kids bedrooms, and shit i'm uber popular right now. My son is stoked he can play "Disney game" (Disney Infinity) from the comfort of his bed on a Saturday morning. Winning.

    • +2

      Spackbace, long live the king!!!

      Lol for which aspect? ;)

      • +5

Keyboard King, I think that's the next level up from Keyboard Warrior.

      • You and I are in tune somehow.

Every deal you post, every comp you post… they always appeal to me.

You must be my Ozbargainer from another mother…iner.

    • Also, I really didn't expect that Wii deal to blow up so much! That was crazy :) everyone's nostalgia came out! Some people commented saying they'd sold their Wii before but were buying a replacement!

      • +1

I already had one in the living room, but for that price thought (profanity) it, the kids would love one for their room too. Ended up being a black unit with a motion plus wiimote, still with GC compatibility.

All that for 28 bucks? Can't be beaten.

  • jv is 3!

  • So eager for those shirts >.<

  • Need a shirt, will do anything.

    • +2

      anything???

  • +2

T-Shirt design. It's basically a black T-shirt with white OzBargain logo and an orange 10 in the background, as a 10 year anniversary T-shirt.

I have a meeting in the city (Sydney South) later this month and I'll be giving out 10 or so Tshirts in a mini meetup like the last one. I will also give out 100 T-shirts through treasure hunt early next month. Stay tuned.

Pitty there is no catagory for writing the post incorrectly or leaving out a link. I'd have that covered by a mile!
As a new member and the couple of posts I did manage to write, the first reply was always… Oh why didn't you put this in, It would help if you added this in.I found only a couple of members genuine to help (Thankyou) I found this site a very clicky lot. Was never made to feel welcome, only always criticized for doing something wrong. I did private message one person asking for help, no reply, now I know why it's all about this point system? No wonder she didn't want to help me, sad really.
Oh well I wont be bothering you all anymore.
Good luck to you all in your quest for T shirts.
Thank-you to the people who did help me, I'm sure you know who you are, I really appreciate your help and advice.

    • Consider this your official welcome!

Welcome and thanks for the feedback albeit I'm not sure if I understand your comment about a "point system" where people don't reply to PMs?

I had a read of your first post and it seemed everyone was nice. As a new user, what would you suggest to make users feel more welcome? Let us know and hopefully you'll have a better experience.

      • My point was I pm a fellow member who had just posted a new deal so I pm her asking for help on how to do it, as Everytime I tried it ended up as a topic discussion, no worries I worked it out myself. Just thought I would let others know about a good phone deal at Coles for the Huawei Y6 Elite.
Never mind. I again wrote it the wrong way, about the points system, I think I've worked that out as well, it's all about how many posts, comments you make to get on the above list is that correct? That is how you get this t shirt? Do you come to Adelaide and give them out randomly?
I appreciate your taking the time to reply to my message, post or pm I'm not sure what it was.
        Many thanks,
        Cheers

        • it's all about how many posts, comments you make to get on the above list is that correct? That is how you get this t shirt? Do you come to Adelaide and give them out randomly?

Ha no. The t-shirt comments are a joke. The stats are just an inside look of what's going on at OzBargain.

We mostly give out the t-shirts for competitions.

Or at meetups: Scotty gave a bunch out last month in Sydney, more in a couple of weeks.

Nothing specifically in Adelaide but we will be running a comp shortly and giving a bunch away for our birthday in November.

        • @neil: Oh I didn't realise it was a joke, thank-you for your reply and clarification on what it all means. Potty about the birthday just had mine on the 11 August. Maybe next year.
          Thanks again Neil
