Members of the Month

March2018

Winners from last month:

  • PJC and his nicely compiled Seiko watch deals won the deal of the month in March with most votes. PJC has also posted 4 other watch deals last month from brands such as Tissot, Frederique Constant and Oris.

  • Being Askhole for posting the most deals last month — 175 deals with +33.2 vote average. Top categories are "Electrical & Electronics" (35 deals), "Gaming" (35 deals) and "Home & Garden" (24 deals). 3rd consecutive win for BA.

  • gnv9 for again totally dominating the competition section of OzBargain, including most popular comp (Win $15,000 Cash from Network Ten), most clicked comp (Win Bordeaux River Cruise from Scenic) and just the total number of competitions posted (308 comps with +11.3 vote average). It's also 9th consecutive win for gnv9.

  • Each month I also go through highly voted comments manually to find poster of informative comments. This month the winner is Len2801 for giving some suggestions in that AAMI insurance dispute thread that's both informative and useful. Hopefully the OP of that thread has this sorted out soon.

Congratulations!

-Scotty

sadness, i was included in it

  • +1

Wall of stats nice i like

  • Must have been a bad month if I'm dominating the most store rep front page deals. Gearbest unseated!

    • GearBest's pricing has been far from Best since the beginning of the year. Strategy change I guess? Or maybe Australia is just not a big enough piece of a pie to grab. On the other hand LITB and Zapal have been more aggressive this year.

      • Combination of both. Gearbest always had the strategy of beating competitors even if that meant running at a loss. The market has matured now and manufacturers/suppliers recognise the significance of customers overseas. That's why companies like Xiaomi have raised their wholesale prices and sites like JD are pushing their Joybuy platform.

Also doesn't help when your only real way of getting into the country is through here or Amazon.

  • +2

    Well done everyone.

  • +3

    Shame on you

Whoever it is on internet explorer.

    • +3

      Mate, you're just an elitist.

I use IE and also toast my bread on a cigarette lighter every morning, I don't see a reason to get a real browser or a real toaster, you're just a gatekeeper and I'm quite happy where I am.

      • +2

You must be a progressive IE user.

        You've discovered bread.

    • Surprised how few Mozilla users are out there

  • Popped my "Of The Month" cherry and top of my category no less. Nice, Gary!

  • +1
    • Add "No Frontpage Highlight" moderator flag for forum posts. To prevent some posts that we don't want highlighted.
    • Add ability to highlight a forum post to the homepage. Related to above.

What are the use cases for these?

    • +2

Highlighting site related things like meetups, charity threads, treasure hunts. If we spot a generally interesting thread, we could highlight that.

Unhighlighting things like deals that are price errors and get moved to the forum, pointless or inflammatory threads (e.g. no topics), threads that have been on the front page for a while (e.g. April Fools was there for 3 or 4 days).

I'd also like to see the ability to do the same with competitions e.g. the Optus one mentioned which guaranteed you a prize or an OzBargain comp.

  • I made the list, how awesome.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Scotty, the mods, power users, my friends and family, God and Google Chrome.

  • The troll list got dominated by actual commenters :D
