    Intriguing :)

Lets see how many Eneloops someone can strap to themselves!

    • Better yet… modify a Nerf gun to use eneloops as ammo and have a chain of eneloop similar to this.

  • Entries are decided by votes on OZB? I see no chance for me. :(

Still enter for fun though ;)

    • +2

Each moderator will score each entry out of 10. We then average it and rank. We will put out the scores in realtime-ish so you'll know whether to submit another entry.

      • Thanks, neil (and other OZB staff also)!

So, I came back from Big W today and only got to post now. The past 6 hours have been hectic!

I was the wild one, hunting and gathering the best from the rest. Digging though the 50+ copies of FIFA 15 and Destiny to find my own destiny. The bargains that separate the Broden's from the TightArse's. I present to you…

The Big W haul! Totaling at $89, it was no easy task to comprehend the sheer amount of bargains to be had. But I did it and it was worth the hour spent in this bright and promising rectangular box - where the treasure gleamed when shone under the all-seeing laser…

The hardship and pain from searching… yeah, nah screw it. It just took a while, okay? Anyways, enough of the tale and back to the real deal!

The 2DS + Pokemon Y (installed) bundle was the highlight, marked at $50 - a find that was a keeper!
The first image is me fresh from the store itself. That's right, fresh bargains! (I didn't think I'd get a bargain and thus, did not print out the sheet - hence the dirty inclusion of it.)
The second is the content of the 6 bags. Everything else was $3 each (aside from the 2DS).

    • The rules state no photoshoping…

Used it to only obstruct my face.

  • +2

Just to clarify the where, the key is for the place to be identifiable in the picture.

    • Inside the MCG where you can see the field etc. - GOOD
    • Outside the MCG where it's clear that it is the MCG - GOOD
    • Inside a room in the MCG where its not identifiable as the MCG. - NOT GOOD

We'll take this into account when judging.

We will start judging entries and putting the scores on here once we have a couple more entries.

    • Is the ANZ stadium a place I can take my pic?

      • +1

        Yes.

    • And should it be the place where you purchased/won the items? If it's just a random place (any store, supermarket, stadium, place of interest, etc. not related to the deals/prizes) then I think it defeats the purpose of this competition.

Also how about an item/a prize that you bought/won from a website but not from a physical store?

      • +1

And should it be the place where you purchased/won the items? If it's just a random place (any store, supermarket, stadium, place of interest, etc. not related to the deals/prizes) then I think it defeats the purpose of this competition.

IMO I dont think that defeats the purpose at all, given that you have to transport said items to where you need to be, set it up etc. At the end of the day, points are there for originality, so someone taking a photo of a trolley for example, isn't going to get the same points someone else does putting more effort in. And it's not just 1 person judging, its the moderation staff, so between them they'll best be able to work out the winners :)

But anyway, for now there's only 2 entries (well, 1 photoshopped but anyway…) and 7 possible prizes, so odds are still very good!

        • +2

At the end of the day, points are there for originality, so someone taking a photo of a trolley for example, isn't going to get the same points someone else does putting more effort in.

          This.

An example could be your ING Direct Card with Joe Hockey in Parliament House would probably score higher than your ING Direct Card in front of the ING Headquarters. And that would probably score higher than your ING Direct Card outside Woolworths. These examples are if all others factors remain the same.

However if the photo is good/creative, the above might not apply. So there is no particular formula.

        • +2

But anyway, for now there's only 2 entries (well, 1 photoshopped but anyway…) and 7 possible prizes, so odds are still very good!

Ha ha. Don't think that easy! People just wait for more entries to be submitted so they can compare and upload pics that they think are better (or weirder) than previous entrants for more chance to win. Or they're trying to save every cent of their salary for the biggest shopping ever and then enter this comp. Too many possibilities.

This is OZB anyway so we expect extraordinary pics with craziest ideas ever!

      • +2

The place is independent from the item. Basically we want it in public however in the last competition, the definition of public was a bit vague as people took photos in their backyard (as an example). So this time round, we have named what we consider public to simplify it for us and people entering.

        So place would be:

        • shopping centre
        • store
        • sports stadium
        • Australian landmark

Also how about an item/a prize that you bought/won from a website but not from a physical store?

Hmm. I guess inside/outside their headquarters?

        • Thanks for clarifications!

Hmm. I guess inside/outside their headquarters?

It's time for me to practice my ninjutsu skills (or just take a picture in front of Colworths for an easy entry) ;)

  • Nice contest. I would have thought the ultimate ozbargainer would be judged by refraining from as many deals as possible and saving that money as a result ;-)

  • Love the graphic :)

  • +1

    Hi neil,

Can you please confirm the pic MUST be taken explicitly from any shopping centre, store, sports stadium, or the Australian Landmark website list http://australianlandmarks.com.au/ so for e.g no Australia Zoo http://www.australiazoo.com.au/ as its not on the list?

    • Australia zoo is fine.

      • Thanks for clarification :)

  • Hmm will have to think about this one!

Skylanders Swap Force in the Big W Drop Zone $3.
Coles Espressotoria pod machine with 72 pods ~ $35.
Trying to explain to some random guy why you want a picture taken in front of a landmark with a pile of junk, priceless!

    http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/80681/31579/lordoftheth…

For those who don't know, that's The Big Mango which I thought was fitting for OzBaragin orange.

So Tab S for ~$287 from TGG from last eBay 20% sale (and TRS on top).
UE Boom from HN a couple of weeks ago.
Espressotoria pod machine when Coles botched their coupons again about 8 weeks ago.
Gerni from HN about 3 weeks ago.
Soda Stream 3 for $10 a week ago.
Sunnies from Spec Savers half price.
Skylanders /Amiibo from Big W posts.

And the guy didn't frame it right so missed the ING and Citibank (balance transfer) cards.

  • Any reason why the ozbargain shirt is red and not orange?

    • +1

      Red was cheaper!

Nah, they are definitely orange but show up in pictures a bit more red.

      • judging by the latest photos uploaded by users, it still looks very red to me

        • Definitely orange! :)

  • +4

Some people have been PMing me questions, so for transparency I'll answer:

    • If you are not sure what is considered a landmark, please ask. Powerhouse Museum is a landmark. The earth/sky is probably not.
    • The landmark/store/stadium/shopping centre should be identifiable, so if taking a picture outside the MCG works better than certainly do that.
    • If you miss a requirement, (e.g. 2 of you photoshopped/edited your pic), we will judge accordingly by deducting points.

Other than that, the entries all look quite good.

    • +1

Just to clarify futher, will editing a photo such as cropping, altering lighting or obscuring a face as per the rules below be a detractor?

"Definitely no photo-shopping." -my read on that was not add things to the location, or yourself into a location which you're not at.

"The Lord may block or obfuscate their face to protect their identity." -I obscured my face in paint as per this rule. Was this not allowed?

      • Normally that isnt allowed.. You could always resubmit without the editting as only highest score per user counts

I spotted one of these Lords today, waiting for Supercheap Auto to open so he could obtain some bargains.

He seemed to have quite the throne, bought from the almighty Target.
Cooking his breakfast on his Beefeater Bugg BBQ, with the help of his Redheads BBQ Set.
Seemed he was watching his movies on a TV attached to his Esky, of all things! Looked like it was Netflix too, no doubt scored free from the K of Mart, but it looked like he was streaming it straight from a Galaxy S5.
And of course he was easy to see with his Ozbargain tshirt!

Went down to Sellicks Hill, Nan Hai Pu Tuo Temple Australia’s Buddhist Retreat:
    http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/south/sellicks-hills…

To visit the Buddha Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin, which is meant to bring peace, harmony, prosperity and wealth to SA.

After visiting her I spotted what appeared to be a Lord Ozbargainer, however it may have been a god I'm not entirely sure. He gave Hotei or Pu-Tai a little rub of his stomach for some good luck and planted himself down to do a Buddhist Meditation. I quickly took a quick snap as he was offering the great Pu-Tai a bottle of water or can of coke.

Pu-tai gladly accepted the Coke in a laughing jovial manner with the Lord keeping the water for himself. As you can see the Lord/God Ozbargainer was wearing the full kit Ozbargain uniform directly from one of our favourite stores in Sports Direct, with an ozbargain t-shirt underneath peeking through. Flashing some of his goodies including a Windows Phone from Dickies, A Telstra $1 Prepaid Sim and a DAB Portable Radio from an Ebay Appliances Online Sale. Location: free entry into my favourite childhood place, thank you moocher.
Drink: stubborn Telstra Treats app finally asked me if I liked tea after 30 min of wandering around QVB deleting data/cache to get a drink, thanks for sharing jtsback & helpful comments.
Hideous Minelab stubby holder: was free, was good at keeping drink cool as I ventured from QVB to museum. Jk I only put it on in the few seconds it took for the photo, cheers anyway gccmelb.
Tetley tea in case my Chatime wasn't strong enough: won from Coles comp thanks to the great find by Spackbace. ETA: OMG SPACKBACK?!?! Did I just realise you were Spackback and not Spaceback now?!?! HAHA you trickster. ETA V2: NOT SPACKBACK but SPACKBACE… are you iTunes' terms and conditions bc I can't read you.
Entertainment for the long commute to/from home: Popular Penguins picked up during 3 for $20 sale at Dymocks for free because I won and swapped gift cards from Optus promo. Much appreciated JSQUARED.
Bookmark: savings made from Cash Rewards (e.g. $13.10 from the Dr Martens below – I would have never found Cash Rewards if it weren’t for you guys). These online shopping savings are going to pay for my education, pretty certain I'll earn enough from cash rewards to pay off degree.
Phone: not the fanciest but I’m happy with it/the plan for the price, without it OzBargain wouldn't be the last thing I see at night and first thing I wake up to ;) Thank you TRENT86.

Attire: why wear pants with shirts when you can just throw on a comfy dress? Add really thick stockings at 40c/pair for warmth, seriously…they were selling 5 pairs for $2 on COTD eBay (!!!). Hats off to muncan for a lifetime supply of stockings on the cheap. Oh and my grey cardi had a further 20% taken off courtesy of zhenjie.
Shoes: Dr Martens, 40% off at Surfstitch got them down to $131.40. These are absolutely capable of lasting 2+ years with daily wear, and the AirWair soles are clouds = pricelesss, thanks abzolutely.

Shades: superior UV protection as all I can see is orange and dollar signs, 20/20 would recommend OzBargain.

A little bitter about my XIAOMI power bank taking its sweet sweet time to get to me. I'd be holding that phone up with so much more purpose if the power bank had just hopped onto a plane and gotten here in 12 hrs :)

Well, I finally decided to go for it at the last minute… May I present:

    The LADY of the Things!
    http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/154051/31623/p6300005.j…

She may be a little different to the other mighty Lords, in that she doesn't own any Eneloops and she has never done a Course on Udemy, but in some ways she is just the same: she needed to crop her lower half because of the effect of Delivery Hero. Her rewards cards don't fit in her wallet anymore, so she simply fans herself when the sun is out with them. If there is a bargain, a freebie, a promo or a discount; her magic mask of sales helps her seek out the lowest price (despite causing a bit of a giggle amongst onlookers at the shops this morning). Even winning a football in the Woolworths 'Big Night In' competition (see photo) was a bonus, because she recently spent way too much in the recent Ebay promotion/s. Actually, the 'Lady of The Things' doesn't get out as much anymore, since she discovered OzBargain and keeps ordering her shopping online and taking advantage of CashRewards. She is your average woman on the street at night (hang on…wait a minute?) but by day she is LADY OF THE THINGS!

Additionally, the Lady of the Things would like to apologise for the lack of 'things' in her photo. Most of the things I have bought on OzBargain (and there are MANY) are in use. The SD card in her camera, the car seat covers and the discount fuel used to drive to the photo 'shoot' are all OzBargained items ;)

Spotted this guy providing some musical ENTertainment (some called it a Theodin) to all the local hobbits at Officeworks.
He just couldn't wait to get home before trying out his Logitech Z623 Speaker System just purchased from Officeworks for $94
Given the lack of security, he had a Panasonic Oral Irrigator from Amazon to ward off the more orcish members of the audience.

Ozbargain had very kindly clothed him with:

Weow, I am so busy I can't take a simple pic! I wanted to show all my competition prizes! Including pandora radio sunglasses and tshirt, a $100 and $50 iTunes cards, some tickets to the Asian cup earlier this year, thunderbirds DVD comp, McDonald's drop Into maccas $1000 weekly winner, $100 gift card from AdQuiz competition, and loads more! Too bad I can't show them, maybe the next time. I already win too many competitions hahahaha 😄🎉 In fact I just won a competition on Facebook yesterday not listed on ozbargain, won an muse merchandise pack from Guvera app including and iPad case, a computer case and a tote bag all branded with the Muse brand. Good luck everyone and have a great night! See below!

Not all the prizes but still growing!

    My prize list so far

Total prize winnings value = $2650

      Nice haul :)

I won (for work) a delivery of Ben & Jerry's icecream last week. They brought 112x 458ml tubs! Needless to say, everyone was pretty thankful lol

      $13.75 each apparently x 112 = $1540 worth of icecream :)

      • woah, where did you win that from? we should have a competition to show off only all our winnings from ozbargain!

        • B&Js Facebook page :) And I told them we had about 50 staff (which we do!)

I also left my entry late but i hope its been worth the wait, it has taken me over several attempts and planning to get it right.

I had to get permission to be able to use the Harvey Norman Auburn store and cafe floors and only after closing time and they said the lights would be turned off within 1 hour i just made it.

so since i bought a excessive amount of Quilton Toilet paper i have made it in true
OzBargain style and here is the result.

In a walking tribute to Coke Unleashed and Colour your Summer I present

"Lord Of The Coca Cola Things"

    http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/68451/31649/pict0668.jp…

Finally found a use for those damn earphones to achieve a Raiden style OzBargain look, complimented with items from the Eastbay and Sports Direct collections.
Ice watch trophy proudly on display and topped off with Audio Technica THH-MX50's gained through much bin diving for labels.

And Of course the Bargain Staff. Loaded with giftcards for Coles, Wish, Goodguys, matched with store rewards cards and ING and AMEX to achieve maximum rewards stacking double triple and more.

Was thinking a bow or sword would be a great prop for this but chickened out of the free accomodation and health care that would probably lead to.
Ditto, thought it would be great to take this shot in front of the Kings Cross Coke sign but unsure whether that could get my citizenship revoked.

Second shot including my best bargain ever, my rescue pup.

        • @muncan:

Hi guys, thanks for the heads up. The numbers weren't really visible on my end. Please PM me which cards you could easily see. I've messaged Neil about uploading it again with the numbers masked.

          Cheers.

        • @somethingguy:

Upload again with the numbers masked please (and probably cancel those cards albeit the CVV wasn't shown).

As I said before we will judge accordingly. I wouldn't deduct points for blurring out card numbers. I know some of you want a legally binding law on photoshopping but we are using a common sense approach. :)

        • @neil:

Haha, thanks Neil - I feel like some of us do want a legally binding law :P

In the process of cancelling them.

Greetings fellow adventures, Lords and Ladies of the things,
After ascending the summit of Mt Doom (Montefiore Hill) the looming presence of the statue of Colonel William Light was the first thing I saw. Being as he was a great adventurer in his time, surveyor-general of South Australia, distinguished soldier, sailor, linguist, musician and painter, and thus a man of many talents, I followed his gaze, looking out over the historic Adelaide Oval. On this cloudy day in Adelaide and knew I was with a man who now how to spot an bargain and this was confirmed when he began pointing the way with outstretched arm, quick he was to identify the sign of a Lord of the Things showing the way to a pile of loot, including the One (Dollar) Rings (Telstra Pre-paid starter kits) to rule them all.

After Gollum’s disappointing efforts on the weekend, I decided to resubmit my entry, I couldn’t believe my luck when I crossed paths with Frodo (me) and Samwise (our youngest) on their way to Mordor (via Yan Yean Reservoir - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yan_Yean_Reservoir) with Shelob (8 legged greyhound tied to the fence) in hot pursuit. Unfortunately Pippin and Merry (my two other children) decided at the last minute they did not want to be in the photoshoot!

  • Here comes the Lord of Wisdom [ENTRY 1]

He's standing there next to Charles Darwin University's Book Store where he rarely spends a cent (BURN!) due to the ridiculous prices of textbooks in Australia, showing off his book collection. Because he didn't want to break his back while riding his bike to uni so he decided to bring only a small part of his huge collection of books.

He loves nature, you can't deny it. It can be seen from the picture that he wears leaves on his head because he was born in the year of Woods. He shows the love for recycling by wearing his favorite T-shirt which is "Made from 100% recycled whales".

He loves reading books about nature and the environment although he rarely touches any of them. The only exception is when exam is coming or when he participates in competitions like this one. https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/146478/31667/20150630_…

He also loves other branches of science (geography, archeology, astrophysics, etc.), arts (music, literature) and foreign languages (though he can't even speak a Chinese or Japanese sentence). At least, he hasn't forgot his "mother tongue" http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/146478/31668/20150630_2…

All textbooks and reference books are second-hand or bought when on sale from physical/online bookstores such as QBD, Dymock's, Bookdepository, Fishpond, StudentVIP etc.

    Other stuff featured:

    • Lab coat, lab glasses - free stuff from friends - costs 0.
    • T-shirt from Vistaprint - too far from my memory - ~$8 + delivery perhaps?!
    • Shoes from Kmart - $20 (original price $40)
    • Pants from BigW - $10 (original price $15)
    • Socks from Big W - $8 (original price $12)
    • Pebble Smartwatch from Dick Smith - $89 Pre X-mas 2014 Sale (original price ~$140)

Due to the huge amount of info that is stored in his tiny brain, he can't recall from which OZB Deals he purchased these stuff from. Some of the stuff are 2 years old already!

Despite his nerdy look, he does have some deep, dark secrets yet to be revealed.

    TO BE CONTINUED…

P.S. Only the 1st picture counts as ENTRY 1. Others are to support the story.
